The bathroom and the tiles go hand in hand and some would say one isn’t really complete without the other. Most often than not this is true as tiles are found in most bathrooms in various different forms and proportions. In each case a decision has to be made regarding the type of tile, the color and the pattern in which they are laid.

Tile patterns like herringbone, chevron, grids, diamond or basket weave help us visual interest and character to the bathroom. The same thing can be said about the color of the tiles. Colors are very powerful and they’re crucial in the world of interior design. Blue in particular is a beautiful tile color which suits the bathroom more than any other nuance.

apartment with LAVANDOY

APARTMENT WITH LAVANDOY To please yourself - it's so right! Especially when the main tasks are solved, the tastes have formed, and you can first of all be guided in the choice by yourself. Here you can apply non-standard solutions, and play with color ... For a bright family couple of elegant age, an unusual interior is also needed, corresponding to their inner world, taste and hobbies. I must say that they seriously approached the work on the arrangement of an apartment with an area of about 70 m², which is supposed to come from a country house for some time. So, the customers approved the proposed lavender tones, and they immediately filled the combined space of the kitchen-living room. The kitchen set has acquired a non-standard color, which is supported by the upholstery of upholstered furniture and accessories. The abundance of plant motifs and stucco decor refer us to the European elegant style in this interior, and lavender is very useful here! And the noble shades of the parquet board perfectly set off the textiles, the shape of the lamps and the elegant decor of the furniture with gilding. Gold with patina is another strong theme of this interior. Entering the ensemble in the lobby, it passes through the entire interior, creating an atmosphere of refined luxury, elegant and in this case not boring at all. A competent backlight puts accents in the right places. The bedroom at first glance resembles the imperial chambers. An elegant carved headboard, gold with patina on the walls, the same technique in finishing cabinet furniture... However, it is worth noting that gold is present here in a more restrained version, not protruding, but rather emphasizing the taste of the one to whom this interior is addressed. The fur cover on the bed adds tenderness, and the glossy wardrobe doors seem to dissolve in space, giving way to the historical dominant. The bathroom is designed to the specified standards. The tone is set by the nautical theme, expressed in the main shades of finishes, as well as decor, which continues the European theme. There was no need to install a bath, instead a spacious shower cabin was equipped.

design ideas, blue bathroom interior

The blue color is directly related to the water element and the boundless sky. It has a calming effect on the human psyche, thanks to which the adoption of water procedures in the bathroom becomes especially pleasant, awakening a feeling of complete relaxation. The palette of shades is diverse, and this article will acquaint you with a photo report with how successfully it can be combined in different styles.

Interior styles

The room always looks beautiful, neat and original, if done in a certain style. There are many directions in which the blue color in the bathroom will become not only appropriate, but also the main one. Which to choose? It already depends on the personal preferences of the owners, as well as the general concept of the entire housing.

Hi-tech blue bathroom

This direction involves abundant lighting in combination with glossy smooth surfaces, the presence of glass, plastic furniture, cutting-edge technology and chrome elements. Here, bright blue paint will go well with white and black, halftones are practically not used.

There are no patterns on the walls and the decor is minimal. The walls and floor are decorated with ceramic tiles, the ceiling - with a glossy stretch film. A bathroom and sink with unusual geometric shapes, possibly made of glass, as well as glass shelves and shower doors perfectly emphasize the style.

Oriental blue bathroom

If you want to get an elegant, decoratively provocative room, the design in oriental style will be the most relevant. The design here will not do without mosaic panels or whole walls decorated in this way. At the same time, there are ethnic ornaments. Blue color is perfect for this direction, but in its pure form it is not used. But in combination with a yellow, olive, black palette, it will sparkle with special grace. Plumbing white, beige, black. A special role is assigned to textiles - rugs with national motifs, dressing gowns, towels are appropriate here.

Nautical blue bathroom

In this version, the blue palette will be the most successful. Here you can use any of its shades - from the most pale blue to the color of midnight, combining them with each other and diluting them with a white, sandy spectrum. There are no special requirements for finishing materials here - any designed for the bathroom can be used. One of the walls can be laid out with a blue-blue mosaic, a tile that imitates fish scales, or pasted over with a vinyl film depicting a seascape.

A self-leveling floor with images of the seabed in three-dimensional projection is appropriate here, you can also use materials that imitate a shell or sandy beach. The style will be complemented by curtains with a marine theme, shells, sea pebbles, laid out on the shelves with deliberate negligence.

Provence blue bathroom

The Provence direction will help create the soulful atmosphere of French country houses. It uses light shades of shabby blue in combination with beige and sand color. Against the background of ceramic matte wall tiles, lined with milky and light beige, blue furniture with curved legs and rounded shapes will look great. It should have an aged noble appearance with elements of wear and cracks.

Blue tile with wicker rattan furniture set against the background. Plumbing is made of ceramics, has rounded shapes, antiquity details (brass, copper sputtering). There is a floral print everywhere in the interior - on curtains, tiles, in the form of live compositions in vases. A large chandelier, forged heated towel rails, wicker laundry baskets, mirrors framed with a baguette will decorate the room.

Blue Art Deco bathroom

This direction is characterized by luxury, so the design will cost a lot. The environment should contain expensive natural materials (stone, glossy ceramic tiles, silk-screened wallpapers), floral and animal ornaments, images of the sun and its rays, framing mirrors, furniture and other interior items.

Geometric patterns are welcome - rhombuses, zigzags, so stone slabs on the floor and ceramics on the walls, laid out in this way, will immediately set the tone for the interior. Furniture items made of expensive wood (or its imitation) are solid, but at the same time elegant. They have a simple shape, but a rich finish of metal, glass.

Plumbing fixtures are rounded and made of high quality faience or acrylic. The combination of white and black walls with bright blue furniture looks great. You can make the cladding in the color of the Cypriot breeze, against which white plumbing will look amazing.

Finishes and materials

When cladding a bathroom, it is necessary to take into account the specifics of the room in which moisture and steam are constantly present. As finishing materials, the most moisture-resistant types of coatings are selected that do not experience deformation when changing temperatures, as well as easy to clean. It is equally important to think carefully about color combinations in advance and calculate the right amount of a particular material. If it is intended to decorate with colored ceramic tiles, it is better to purchase a little more than you need. During laying work, a certain amount of it may be damaged, and it is not always possible to re-buy a tile of an absolutely identical shade.

Floor

Since a bathroom in blue is associated with the sea, why not make the floor surface imitate the bottom of the water abyss? To do this, you can design a self-leveling 3D floor, showing the underwater landscape in all its glory: with dolphins, bizarre fish, starfish.

You can also use a simpler option - ceramic tiles, but always on the floor, with a rough surface so as not to slip. The tile can be completely white, beige, blue or lined with an ornament that combines a diverse palette.

Another option for the bathroom is moisture resistant laminate. Made under the tree, it goes well with the blue palette.

Walls

Wall planes create the main background. They can simply be painted, which is often found in budget options, laid out with ceramic tiles, decorated with PVC panels, clapboard. Of course, tile remains the most common option for decades, as it is the most consistent with both aesthetic and practical indicators. For the walls of a large bathroom, any size and pattern is suitable, and in a small room it is better to use small tiles that will expand the space.

The mosaic looks spectacular, especially when combined with several colors (blue, white, turquoise, black, etc.). Most often, not the entire background is decorated with mosaics, but individual elements - an accent wall, which can be near the bathtub, a decorative ornament around mirrors, etc.

Ceiling

In a blue bathroom, the ceiling should be decorated in white, cream or light gray. Saturated blue shades are rarely used here. But, if you really want to, you can arrange a two-level construction of moisture-resistant drywall, where the first level (rim) will remain white, and the rest of the surface will be painted or framed with a blue glossy stretch film. At the same time, it is better to take care of the built-in backlight, which will give the effect of a soaring ceiling.

In rare cases, the ceiling is decorated with mirror surfaces, but this is a rather expensive type of cladding, moreover, the design process is laborious. The surface of the mirrors will constantly fog up and require daily cleaning. A good and economical option is plastic lining. It has a wide range of shades, is easy to clean and allows you to equip a system of spotlights, because high-quality bathroom lighting is a must (but more on that later).

Plumbing and bathroom furniture

When choosing plumbing accessories, you should take into account the appropriateness of the desired items and the size of the room (often, to increase the space, a bathroom is combined with a toilet). The spacious room has a full bath, washbasin, toilet, bidet and even an additional shower. For a small area, the presence of a bidet can be abandoned, and a modern functional shower cubicle will take the place of the bathroom bowl.

It is now fashionable to install suspended sanitary ware that does not have a bottom support. This applies to sinks, toilet bowls, bidets that are wall-mounted, and pipes and drain cisterns are “disguised” by false walls.

The universal color for sanitary ware is white, but this does not exclude the possibility of choosing blue shades, especially if the main finish is supposed to be in a light palette. Blue tile goes very well with snow-white plumbing and black furniture. Equipping the bathroom with sanitary ware made of natural or artificial stone will give a unique chic and presentability.

There shouldn't be much furniture here. A cabinet under the sink, hanging cabinets for hygiene and cosmetic items, corner shelves, clothes hangers - this is quite enough. A large bathroom can have a dressing table with a chair, an ironing table, and poufs. One or more mirrors must be present.

Decor and lighting

As noted earlier, the lighting in the bathroom, especially in the blue palette, should be bright enough. In addition to the central supply of light from a chandelier, spotlights or spotlights, local lighting devices are needed, which are installed in the bathing, dressing area, as well as at the mirror with a washbasin. In addition, you can make an additional soft illumination of shelves and cabinets. To make the interior original and cozy, decorative forms of lighting are used, for example, lamps built into the floor, wall tiles equipped with LEDs. In a blue bathroom, this design will be incomparable.

Mosaic ornaments, vinyl stickers in the bathing area with images of raging waterfalls, seascapes will perfectly cope with the role of decor. Original plumbing will also greatly decorate the room, as well as rugs and curtains. You can arrange several flowerpots with live plants and arrange decorative trinkets on the shelves that match the chosen style: blue and white candles, seashells, colored stones.

Small blue bathroom

The main thing for a small room is to choose the right design for the main background. The best option is a smooth flow from a dark bottom to a light top using horizontal and vertical lines in the wall decoration. You can also make several walls white, and decorate one in a blue palette.
