Dyson Cyclone V10

Broke almost immediately

I bought this on sale and I was so excited. The second time I used it, it broke. It still charges but doesn’t turn on. I checked with Dyson for the warranty and they said it was “out of stock. ” I was so frustrated with the company that I don’t want another one.

Dyson Cyclone V10

I wish I had my old one back

I bought the V10 to replace my 4 year old V8 and was excited to experience the new technology. Although this vacuum has much better suction than the V8, and it is lighter, that is about all the good I can say. I was so disappointed to experience that my old battery lasted longer than this one. How we did the test

Our tests are independently conducted and reflect the test editor's honest and objective opinions. Selection of products and test results are in no way influenced by manufacturers, retailers or other internal or external parties.

1. Electrolux Pure D8.2 Silence - BEST CHOICE VACUUM CLEANER

Extremely quiet but still very good cleaning results

Noise levels: 58 dB (manufacturer's specification), 60.1 (measured) Weight inc. accessories: 7 kg Action radius: 12 m Parking function: Rear Bag change indicator: Yes Bag volume: 3.5 L Accessories: 2 floor nozzles, 3 smaller nozzles Telescopic handle: Yes Miscellaneous: 55% recycled material

The Electrolux Pure D8. 2 Silence is one of the best, quietest vacuum cleaners we’ve ever tested. It’s so quiet that we were worried about performance, but those concerns quickly turned out to be unjustified. The Pure D8.2 Silence has a very good suction capacity and the floor nozzle picks up debris very well from all directions. At the same time, it doesn’t suck itself onto the floor like our previous test winner. So it’s very easy to move back and forth across the floor.

We found it useful that you can open the vacuum to get at the bag without having to disconnect the hose. We also liked the compact, but simultaneously very user-friendly design. On top of the machine body are two nicely integrated buttons, one for on/off and one for reeling in the power cable. The vacuum cleaner is a premium model, and is also has a sustainable aspect, as it’s made from 55% recycled material.

The vacuum also has a very good range. We could hoover almost the entire ground floor without having to unplug the vacuum and change sockets – which is quite unusual for this price class. Another thing we liked was the folding carrying handle that made it easy to lift the vacuum cleaner.

Unfortunately, there are only brackets for the hose on the back and front. We’d have liked to see them on the sides too.

The vacuum comes with five different nozzles, two vacuum cleaner bags and a bracket – a good set of accessories considering the price.

Modern technology

The Electrolux Pure D8.2 Silence is very quiet – whether at low or high suction power. There are three strength modes, one for rugs, one for floors and one for just being very quiet. You can also set it in a smart mode where it’s meant to adjust the suction power. This doesn’t actually work very well as it reacts strangely at level differences, giving an uneven cleaning result, and even shutting off the power quite often. But if you use it in normal mode, it works really well, even at level differences such as thresholds and tiles.

The whole construction feels well designed. For example, you can turn the vacuum cleaner on from the handle, and set the suction power there as well. In addition to that, there are also controls on the floor nozzle to allow for further fine-tuning.

It’s also very easy to extend the tube or to change the bag or nozzle. There could have been a bit more power in the cable winder to reel in the power cable, because sometimes you have to help it a little. And the vacuum cleaner bag is on the small side, as a consequence of the compact design.

Overall this vacuum cleaner is ideal for anyone looking for an affordable, very quiet vacuum where you don’t have to compromise on user-friendliness or performance.

2. Dyson V15 - BEST PREMIUM PRODUCT

The only vacuum cleaner you’ll need

Type: Radial cyclone vacuum cleaner Dust container: 0. 76 l Dimensions: 126 x 25 x 26.6 cm Nozzles: Motorised brush, combination accessory tool, cone-shaped tool, long nozzle, small soft dust brush, Slim Fluffy brush Suction power: 230 with boost. Weight: 3 kg Miscellaneous: Piezo sensor to measure dust particles, green laser for overview

The Dyson V15 is a very competent vacuum cleaner and a definite upgrade for when you need to replace your V11. With its low floor nozzle, it offers a more convenient size that allows you to access under furniture and which contributes positively to the ergonomics. At the same time, the V15 is at least as powerful and even more functional than its predecessor. Although it hasn’t changed a lot, in a way the V15 is the size and design you probably didn’t know you were missing.

The low floor nozzle easily gets in under low furniture. It’s also equipped with a green laser so you can see every little grain of dust – even in brighter environments.

The laser is a really good addition to an otherwise already well-built machine. There’s a definite satisfaction in vacuuming when you see a surface that didn’t look dirty, become completely clean under the laser with a single stroke of the vacuum nozzle.

Best cleaning assistant

Because the Dyson V15 Detect is strong. This vacuum cleaner has no problem cleaning up everything from small gravel and sand in the hall to carpets and sofas covered with dog hair. As long as you use the floor nozzles or the motorized mini nozzle, you’ll have no problems when it comes to chasing down the dust.

It does have its shortcomings, mainly as a hand-held vacuum cleaner on worktops and the like. Because while it’s excellent when it comes to textiles, including carpeted stairs, sofas and so on – it is the exact opposite as a hand-held vacuum cleaner on hard surfaces.

For example, it doesn’t even manage to get up all your breadcrumbs or coffee grains in one go, and you have to angle the nozzle and move it carefully over the surface. Even then it misses some of them.

But apart from its weaknesses as a handheld vacuum cleaner, this is a definite purchase if you want a cordless vacuum. It’s easy to maintain, cleans floors and carpets really well and, at the same time, has double batteries, double chargers and all the nozzles you could want.

3. Roborock H7 - BEST CHEAP STICK VACUUM CLEANER

An affordable stick vacuum cleaner for smaller homes

Type: Stick vacuum cleaner Nozzles: Floor cleaning nozzle, magnetic attachment, crevice nozzle, dust brush, mini-tool (motor driven), flexible pipe, 2 vacuum cleaner bags Motor: 480 W Weight: 1. 2 kg

The Roborock H7 is a stick vacuum cleaner that doesn’t cost a fortune, and actually vacuums pretty well. Stick vacuum cleaners are a bit of a jungle, and many models perform very badly. But Roborock have succeeded with the H7. For example, it sucks up small gravel instead of sending it spraying over the room, and has no problem cleaning dog hair, breadcrumbs and more on hard floors.

The cleaning results on carpets vary. It’s weak on small grains of dirt in pile carpets, and also leaves some dog hair on the short pile stair carpets we test it on. But it does a reasonable job of removing crumbs and other dirt from carpets with a short pile.

You can lock the control

This stick vacuum cleaner is fairly easy to use. It has defects in the form of having to turn upside down to release the dust container, and some dirt is sometimes left behind and falls out onto the floor. But if you’re careful and get used to it, this isn’t a big problem.

One nice detail is that you can insert a vacuum cleaner bag if you want to avoid the above problems. It includes two.

It’s easy to change the nozzle on the H7. It also has a power lock, so you don't have to keep the button pressed all the time during vacuuming.

The Roborock H7 is mainly suitable for smaller homes, such as flats or a smaller house. The battery life is around 25-30 minutes in standard mode and around 12 minutes when we run it on a turbo. It recharges in a couple of hours.

Despite its slight defects, the Roborock H7 is still a very affordable stick vacuum cleaner. If your home’s not enormous, and you have normal cleaning needs, you’ll be satisfied.

4. Dyson V11 Absolute

Versatile vacuum cleaner with tons of power

Dimensions (L): 1286 mm Dimensions (W): 250 mm Dimensions (H): 261 mm Container volume: 0. 76 Suction power: 220 (boost) Cyclone technology: Radial (two layers of cyclones) Nozzles: Mini soft dusting brush, high torque cleaner head, stubborn dirt brush, combination tool, crevice tool, mini motorised tool Weight: 3 kg Guarantee: 2 years Miscellaneous: 9 accessories

In many ways, the Dyson V11 Absolute is a replacement for the traditional vacuum cleaner, thanks to a combination of maximised suction and lots of nozzles. The very best traditional vacuum cleaners are still a little better, but if your home isn't more than normally messy, the V11 is perfectly adequate. It also has the advantage that you don't have to struggle with a lead, and that you can also use it as a hand-held vacuum cleaner to clean your car or worktops.

It comes with many different nozzles, together with a wall bracket. Unfortunately the manual doesn’t include an explanation of how you're intended to use the different nozzles, but it's still relatively easy to work this out yourself.

The V11 is generally extremely user friendly. It's easy to empty, the click-in function means you can change the nozzles quickly, and cleaning the filter is convenient.

Other than a slightly more powerful battery, what distinguishes the V11 from its predecessors is that it comes with a display. Here you can see how much battery power you have left and the suction setting it's selected. The vacuum cleaner adapts the suction to the surface being cleaned. This works well on all types of surface except where there are differences in level. If you have a carpet that isn’t all at one level, or vacuum it so that part of the nozzle overlaps the edge, the vacuum cleaner doesn't really understand what setting it should use.

Efficient construction

The Dyson V11 Absolute sits nicely in your hand and is well balanced. You won’t find it an effort to vacuum for long periods. Although we'd have liked a way to lock the power button. As it stands, you have to keep the button pressed in yourself the entire time you use it.

The vacuum cleaner packs the dirt well into the container, which holds a lot. This means you don't need to empty it particularly often.

One disadvantage is that you can't put the V11 down in a convenient way. For example, if you need to pick something up from the floor or move something, you have to lie the vacuum cleaner down because it's prone to toppling over. Because it's made of hard plastic and has a display, it’s likely to get damaged if this happens. It would have been useful to be able to lock it in the upright position so it wouldn’t slide away over the floor.

When you've finished using it, you hang the vacuum cleaner up on the wall bracket. The battery indicator flashes blue while it's charging, and is visible from a distance.

The battery lasts for about 50 minutes, which is really good given how powerful the vacuum cleaner is. The battery can be replaced, so you can buy an extra one to swap it with. But this isn't really necessary unless you have a very large home.

The Dyson V11 Absolute is most suitable for anyone seeking a versatile, easy-to-use and competent vacuum cleaner. The design and lack of cable make it versatile, while it's also strong and comes with plenty of accessories.

5. Dreame h21

The best mop vacuum for those of you who often mop tough stains

Weight: 3.4 kg Container capacity: 0.8 Suction power: 25,000 PA Warranty: 1 year Other: Includes nozzles, filter, charger, docking station Battery: approx. 35 min

Dreame h21 is a shaft vacuum cleaner with a mop – a combination that we have previously doubted as there have been a number of drawbacks in the models we tested in the past.

However, in the h21, these disadvantages are not noticeable. It is strong enough to suck up the debris before it touches the mop and gets damp. It also mops well without straining your arm.

The bottom of the mop rotates like a cylinder – like when you roll a wall. This has two clear advantages: one is that it drives the vacuum cleaner forward when you don't hold it back, and the other is that it mops really well when you do hold it back. If you let it rotate over tough, dried-in stains, it will actually remove them. Just as good a result as with a regular floor mop.

h21 also has really good construction quality. Considering its price, the plastic is solid and the entire vacuum cleaner has a good finish. You have a large display that is super easy to read.

We were a little bothered by the short delay when you turn it off or on, it’s a couple of seconds, but because it goes forward due to the mop these seconds become annoying.

The vacuum cleaner has two containers, one for clean water and one for dirty water.

h21 has a slightly short turning radius. When changing the angle, the nozzle rotates within a very limited range, making it difficult to get a good control of the cleaning result in corners and next to furniture.

h21 is also a good vacuum cleaner – not the best but approved. It sucks up gravel and other dirt as long as it is not lying deep down in a carpet.

Unfortunately, it is not supplied with multiple nozzles and does not have the typical click-in solution so you can easily change nozzle. Nor does it detect carpets, so it will continue on with full power and wet mop the carpet. This means that Dreame h21 is primarily suitable for those of you who have few carpets and always want to wet mop when you vacuum.

6. Electrolux Pure C9

Powerful vacuum cleaner for people with many carpets

Volume: 72 dB (manufacturer’s information) Weight incl. everything: 8 kg Action radius: 12 m Parking function: Rear Bag replacement indicator: Bagless Bag Volume: Bagless, 1.6 l dust container **Accessories: 1 floor nozzle, 1 smaller nozzle Telescopic handle: Yes

Electrolux Pure C9 is a bagless vacuum cleaner that is strong when vacuuming, but does also make a lot of noise. It vacuums up small gravel, dust, and crumbs without any problems, and it is very efficient at cleaning carpets.

Unfortunately, only one floor nozzle is included, but it works excellently from all angles. In addition to the floor nozzle, you also get a nozzle to vacuum crumbs on the sofa, etc. The cleaning result from this nozzle is not as good. Considering the price, we would have liked more choices in terms of accessories, and they would have made the vacuum cleaner more multifaceted.

Reaches far and is easy to empty

The Pure C9 has really good reach. In a normal-sized home, you rarely need to move the power cable to a new wall socket.

However, it can be a bit sluggish to start the vacuum cleaner, as the button sometimes requires you to press it repeatedly before it reacts. We also felt that the construction quality was very plastic, especially considering the price of this vacuum cleaner.

As mentioned, Pure C9 is bagless, which is a positive if you're someone who often forgets to order new vacuum cleaner bags, and if you care about the environment. It is easy to empty the container without spilling, and just as easy to keep it clean.

The Electrolux Pure C9 is suitable if you're looking for a strong vacuum cleaner to use in environments where high noise levels do not matter, and where you primarily need to vacuum floors and carpets.

7. Bosch Unlimited Gen2 Serie 8

Perfect if you already own other Bosch green power tools

Type: Stick vacuum cleaner Dust container: 0.4 l Dimensions: 127.7 x 25.2 x 21 cm Weight: 3.2 kg Other: The battery pack is compatible with other Bosch green tools

Bosch Unlimited Gen2 Serie 8 is a cordless stick vacuum cleaner with an exchangeable battery pack. It comes with a number of nozzles, as well as double battery packs, which is very convenient. This enables you to have one battery on charge while you’re using the other to vacuum. And you can use the same battery packs with other Bosch green power tools, provided they have the same voltage.

Battery time is an eminently acceptable 32 minutes on standard suction power. This is enough time to charge the second battery pack more than half-full. There are 3 power modes: “Auto”, “Turbo” and “Eco”. In Turbo mode, however, you only get a few minutes of vacuuming time.

You can’t see exactly how much battery time you have left on the handle display, which has three bars that gradually go dark as the runtime decreases. Bosch appears to have skimped on this display, which feels uninformative and poor quality.

In all other respects, this vacuum cleaner feels well made. It’s also easy to maintain. While the dust container isn’t very large, it’s easy to empty.

How well it vacuums

Unlimited Gen2 Serie 8 performs very well. Vacuuming hard floors is no problem, and it also does a great job on carpets. However, it has difficulty capturing dirt around skirting boards and door thresholds, and on different levels.

This obviously depends on the type of dirt, but crumbs and very fine dust, for example, tend to get left behind in any flooring joints. But this is not the case with larger dust particles and dog hair.

The LED headlights on the floor brush give you a better view of your cleaning results. This is particularly useful when vacuuming under furniture, where it can otherwise be difficult to see whether the floor brush has covered the entire area.

8. Inter Roborock Dyad

Strangely designed cordless vacuum cleaner with mop

Weight: 3.4 kg Container capacity: 0.8 Suction power: 25,000 PA Warranty: 1 year Other: Includes nozzles, filter, charger, docking station Battery: approx. 35 min

Roborock Dyad is a stick vacuum cleaner from the popular robot vacuum cleaner manufacturer, which has chosen to make a cordless wet-dry vacuum cleaner.

The design of this stick vacuum cleaner is a bit strange. The floor nozzle is very high, which makes it problematic to clean under items of furniture etc. It tends to get stuck. It also feels quite cumbersome to use.

Not possible to change nozzle

Unfortunately, you can’t change the nozzle, so it only works on hard floors (if you don’t want to mop your rugs!).

The cleaning result is good. But it lacks the power to tackle dried stains. It seems to us as if the weight is in the wrong place.

While its suction is quite aggressive, that doesn't make it a better vacuum than other more gentle models. If you accidentally run over a cord, the vacuum sucks it in powerfully and won’t automatically stop – you have to switch it off manually.

A noisy acquaintance

There’s one container for collecting excess water and dust, as well as one that you fill up with water. You need to empty the dirty water tank every day, otherwise it will smell very bad when you next open it. But no odour escapes odour when it’s closed.

The plastic on the charging station and the actual vacuum cleaner feels a bit thin in places. It’s also very noisy to use. As Dyad comes with a hefty price tag, we’d expected a higher build quality and a quieter design.

The display is completely OK and easy to read.

Roborock Dyad is an acceptable stick vacuum cleaner with a mop, but it doesn't quite live up to its price.

9. Philips Powergo

Economical vacuum cleaner for small homes

Radius: 12 metres Weight: 4.5 kg Decibel level: 67.1 dB (measured), 56 dB acc. to Philips Bag: 3. 5 liters

Philips Powergo is the entry-level model in the Philips range of standard vacuum cleaners. It has a simple design and no direct features. There is one suction strength setting, and it is controlled by the on/off switch located on the machine body. There you’ll also find a cable button. A traditional and simple vacuum cleaner in all its glory.

The construction quality is approved for the price. It’s made of thin plastic, but that’s what you have to expect when the vacuum cleaner costs this little.

You will also notice the slightly lower construction quality when you change filters and the like. It feels rickety, but is fully functional.

The cleaning result is good. It sucks up both small pieces of gravel and dust. The button for switching to carpet mode is very sluggish, but even on carpets the cleaning result is good in terms of price. It has the expected suction strength and shows results on all surfaces we tested it on.

Philips Powergo is a clearly approved budget vacuum cleaner for smaller homes.

10. Philips 8000 Series Speed Pro Max Aqua Plus

Mop and vacuum your floor with the same product

Type: Stick vacuum cleaner with PowerCyclone 10 technology and mop Dust container: 0.6 L Nozzles: Standard with mop, crevice nozzle, 360 degree nozzle, motorised mini nozzle, small soft dust brush Suction: 25,000 Pa Miscellaneous: Mop nozzle

The Philips 8000 Series Speed Pro Max Aqua Plus is a stick vacuum cleaner with both a hoover and mop section. With the nozzle connected to the mop, you can vacuum and mop at the same time.

But you should always vacuum once before mopping. If the Speed Pro Max Aqua Plus fails to pick up some dirt, that then gets damp and is dragged around by the mop. However, if you vacuum first, this hoover does a great job of both mopping and vacuuming

For instance, the results when vacuuming on carpets are really good. This machine can remove both crumbs and dust from the pile. We were also satisfied with this vacuum on hard floors. However, sometimes you need to pull the vacuum cleaner backwards over the dirt to get everything up, as it isn't always enough to push it forward only once.

The Philips 8000 Series Speed Pro Max Aqua Plus is close to the premium segment, but it doesn’t actually feel very premium when we touch it. The materials don’t feel very expensive at all. The plastic is thin and the display is cloudy and difficult to read.

Furthermore, the vacuum cleaner is unbalanced, which means you get a sore wrist quite quickly during vacuuming. It’s also quite difficult to turn around on the floor.

And the battery life is very short for the price. In Eco Mode, you get 70 minutes of cleaning time. In addition to Eco-Mode, there is also a Normal Mode and Turbo Mode. In turbo mode, you can only vacuum for 10 minutes.

Many manufacturers’ premium models now have more expensive functions such as sensors, auto mode etc. Here you’re are really paying for the mop part, which in itself does a good job, but in practice is only a plastic construction with a small container on it and a mop underneath that can be attached to the vacuum nozzle.

This is a vacuum cleaner for anyone who needs to be able to mop and vacuum at the same time. But you do need to vacuum relatively regularly so you can actually mop and vacuum at the same time without first having to take a turn without the mop.

11.

Dyson Big Ball

Suction power: 160 AW Energy efficiency: Class A Weight incl. accessories: 8.06 kg Action radius: 9.66 m Parking function: Rear Bag change indicator: Not applicable, bagless Bag volume: Not applicable, bagless Accessories: 3-in-1 nozzle, stored inside the vacuum cleaner Telescopic handle: Yes

With its unique appearance and the fact that it doesn’t need a vacuum cleaner bag, the Dyson Big Ball turns heads in the vacuum world. Just like the manufacturer's stick vacuum cleaner models, the debris collects directly in the dust container and you empty it by detaching the container from the vacuum cleaner body and dropping the dirt into your litter bin. It’s an economical alternative to regularly emptying and buying new vacuum cleaner bags, but can release a little dust when you empty the container into the bin.

The lid of the dust container is a bit stiff to open, but very easy to close. The container could have been a good bit bigger given that you move the vacuum cleaner around by rolling it, so weight isn’t as important as in an equivalent hand-held vacuum cleaner.

We’ve already mentioned how it stands out from the crowd in terms of appearance. Because the vacuum cleaner body is round. This means it doesn’t tip upside down when you pull it around but just rocks and then stands itself back up again. Initially, the vacuum feels odd because it swings back and forth over the slightest obstacle, but you soon get used to that and stop worrying about it.

The Big Ball comes with many accessories and nozzles. It also has a flexible telescopic tube and clearly colour-marked buttons for the click-in nozzles. So user-friendliness levels are very high. However, it does have a fairly short cord and therefore not a particularly good radius of action.

Not a powerhouse, but a good guarantee

Unfortunately, the vacuum cleaner falls down when it comes to performance. On the one hand it doesn’t have much suction power on carpets, and simply fails to get them as clean as we’d expect from a vacuum cleaner in this price class. It also has a tendency to push the dirt around instead of hoovering it up. The solution to this is to lift the nozzle at the back, in dirtier areas, to make sure you get everything up. But we’d expect better performance from a traditional vacuum cleaner.

On the other hand, the guarantee period of 5 years is really good. The vacuum cleaner is also filterless. Instead it uses cyclone technology – which means you don’t need to change any filters.

If you don’t have pets, and if you vacuum regularly so your home doesn’t get particularly dirty, then there are clear advantages in not using vacuum cleaner bags. You’ll also appreciate the bundle of accessories that comes with this model.

12. Philips 8000 Series Aqua XC8149/01

Aimed at those who want to mop and vacuum at the same time

Dimensions (L): 1170 mm Dimensions (W): 260 mm Dimensions (H): 220 mm Container volume: 0.6 l Air flow: 1100 l/min Cyclone technology: Radial (3-layer cyclones) Measured battery life: 38 min (medium power), 32 min (turbo mode) Charging time: 5 h Measured noise level: 79.9 dB Nozzles: LED floor nozzle 360°, floor nozzle with mop functionality, water nozzle with cloth, motorised furniture nozzle, crevice nozzle, extension hose Weight: 2.7 kg Miscellaneous: Can mop and vacuum simultaneously

The Philips 8000 Series Aqua XC8149/01 is a stick vacuum cleaner with a combined mop function. A special floor nozzle allows you to easily attach a container with a cloth underneath, allowing you to mop and vacuum at the same time.

The mop function is the real highlight of this stick vacuum cleaner. The weight of the vacuum cleaner gives you good pressure on the floor, producing good mopping results. The container is also cleverly designed so it’s very easy to use. On top, for example, there is a pedal that you press with your foot to squeeze out more water if necessary. You can also easily remove the floor nozzle with the pedal to release the entire tank when you’re finished. You can then remove the cloth from the container and wash it clean

Not great performance

The actual vacuuming it does while it’s mopping isn’t all that great. The vacuum cleaner is quite weak, even if you run it on a turbo, which makes it struggle to pick up small bits of gravel and the like. If you’ve also moved it back and forth to mop the area, it won’t even pick up damp dust. So it’s best to do the vacuum cleaning without the mop first.

One nozzle that does produce good results is the hand nozzle for furniture. This will pull up dirt from carpets and furniture without damaging them. But there are models on the market that give an even better result for the same money. This model suffers a little on vacuuming overall.

Unfortunately, the performance doesn’t match the price. Even with the 360-degree nozzle, we don’t get the power and suction we have come to expect in this price class. It does an OK job, but dust that is a little way away doesn’t get picked up, and at thresholds and other level differences it isn’t able to collect up any accumulations of dirt. It’s also very noisy. However, we like the 360-degree nozzle with its built-in lighting, so you can see clearly when you’re vacuuming under furniture.

Stick vacuum cleaner with a long battery life

The battery life is very good. We clock the vacuum cleaner at almost 40 minutes of working time on the middle performance mode, and when we run it on turbo for more power it gives us 32 minutes. We would have liked to have seen even more of an increase in performance with turbo mode, which of course would have the effect of reducing the battery life still further, but this would have made the XC8149/01 vacuum cleaner more versatile and would perhaps even have meant that it could achieve better results from vacuuming during mopping.

The stated charging time of five hours is correct; we reached 80% after 4 hours and 5 minutes. The charger is held in place with a magnet.

Unfortunately, the vacuum cleaner has difficulty standing up on its own and tends to roll away. And of course, this disengages the charger. The Philips 8000 Series Aqua also feels rather heavy after you’ve been using it for a while, which becomes noticeable in your wrist, so it could be better balanced. The handle also becomes unusually warm, something we haven’t noticed on other vacuum cleaners.

This stick vacuum cleaner is suitable for those who are looking for a vacuum cleaner and mop combination. The design makes it a great complement to your normal vacuum cleaner. If the price had been a couple of hundred quid lower, or the performance better, it would be a must-have.

Upright vacuum cleaners Dyson, Bosch, Electrolux, LG

The diversity of the market allows you to choose a very decent upright vacuum cleaner for relatively little money. But premium models clean rooms faster, more efficiently, and most importantly, more pleasantly. Are all expensive upright vacuum cleaners equally good?

Text: Yuri DUBRAVIN.

Power and efficiency

When developing expensive models, manufacturers try to use the highest quality components.

A powerful electric motor, a capacious battery, well-thought-out aerodynamics of internal parts - in terms of technology, the best upright vacuum cleaners are somewhat reminiscent of Formula 1 cars.

These upright vacuum cleaners not only suck dust more efficiently, but also try to minimize losses: they make sure that the smallest dust particles remain inside and do not return to the air of the room. To do this, they are equipped with high-quality fine air filters and HEPA filters . This is important as it helps to avoid allergic reactions when cleaning in sensitive people.

Presence of convenient functions and unusual design solutions

Another argument in favor of buying a more expensive vacuum cleaner is the presence of additional features in such models . So, for example, one of the models presented in our review has an automatic brush cleaning function. As a result of this technical solution, there is no need to manually remove hair, animal hair, threads, etc. that have wound up during the cleaning process. It is worth noting that such "bonuses" that increase the comfort of operation are not uncommon.

Vacuum cleaners in this price segment are often equipped with additional nozzles designed for wet floor cleaning.

Does the shop assistant offer you a "super new" model? Be sure to ask for exactly what opportunities you will have to shell out a tidy sum!

Quality of materials and appearance

Premium upright vacuum cleaners are designed down to the last detail. As a rule, decorative elements "under chrome" are used, there is an additional color highlighting of working buttons, pressing places, etc. More importantly, better and more durable plastic is used, all elements are precisely fitted to each other, and switches and buttons in most cases do not have any backlash and are pressed very smoothly.

Dyson: a trendsetter

Powerful suction and innovative design have made Dyson upright vacuums some of the most recognizable in the world. The latest development is the Dyson Cyclone V10 Animal.

Dyson engineers have provided the with three power modes , one of which can be compared with a tornado or a hurricane in terms of suction power.

The huge set of nozzles, including two motorized turbo brushes (full-size and its mini equivalent), as well as a number of convenient accessories like a crevice or combination nozzle, will also help to achieve impeccable cleanliness. The long-bristled brush and low power mode can easily get rid of dirt on your favorite keyboard, curtains and upholstered furniture. There will be no problems with cleaning the corners either.

To remove dust from the vacuum cleaner, just press one lever. The company's engineers did not forget about the possibility of transforming the vacuum cleaner into a compact handheld device.

Long runtime, many attachments, high efficiency, convertible, convenient docking station.

Coarse dirt, such as a candy wrapper, can become an obstacle, requiring “manual” cleaning of the vacuum cleaner, the portable vacuum cleaner is not stable enough.

There are different user reviews about this model: not everyone likes the novelty, in particular, there are complaints about the operation of the dust cleaning system. We have not tested this model yet, but about time-tested Dyson hits that are “pleasant in every way” can be read here and here.
