What is the Bissell ICONpet like to use?
Simple set-up
I consider myself handy, but I’m confident my six-year-old son could have assembled the Bissell ICONpet vacuum. With minimal moving parts and super clear instructions, it took less than twenty minutes to put together. Bissell recommends charging the unit for four hours before using, and despite being impatient, I listened.
Once the vacuum was ready to roll, I tested it on several surfaces.
Portability
If you have stairs, you know what a pain (literally) it can be lugging a vacuum up and down. At the touch of a button, the Bissell ICONpet transforms into a handheld vacuum. Weighing in under three pounds (yes I weighed it), I can vacuum my stairs in five minutes compared to fifteen. Added bonus? I don’t feel it in my back the next morning.
Here at my house, what I’ll find in furniture is a guessing game. Most of the time it’s leftover breakfast and dog hair, both of which the Bissell sweeps right up! If you have pets or children, the handheld option will save your sanity.
Best ways to use the Bissell ICONpet
I like to think that the Bissell is great for a seemingly limitless number of situations. With that being said, this vacuum is seriously convenient for more than just floors. Pet bed too large for the washer? Pull out the Bissell. Leftover popcorn from movie night found its way into the couch? Go grab the Bissell.

Quick note: I have some pretty plush carpet in my bedroom, and the ICONpet struggled to perform on even the strongest setting. Area rugs and my mom’s low-pile carpet? A dream.

Useful LED lighting
Picture this: you just get done cleaning, and put your vacuum away. Moments later, you notice left-behind crumbs, and want to scream. We’ve all been there, and it’s maddening. With the built-in LED lighting, you can kiss those missed spots goodbye. When I tell you the lights are bright, trust me. They light up a path that shows no mercy to pet hair or even, and I’m a little embarrassed to admit this, dust. Did I mention the crevice tool also includes a nifty LED light? Perfect for cleaning couches
Power modes
There are three power modes, thoughtfully designed for different surfaces.
Max cleaning, everyday cleaning, and quiet cleaning. Carpet requires a stronger suction than hardwood- so max cleaning is the best option for soft surfaces. Everyday cleaning is the best option for hardwood and area rugs, as well as car interior and furniture. Quiet mode is surprisingly quiet, and I’d recommend using only on hardwood. The suction is minimal, but it does boast the longest run time!

The small, easily hidden charging station attaches easily to any wall, and even holds the included accessories.

Tangle-free brush
Pet hair is one thing, but long (human) hair is a whole new ballgame. Bissell’s patented Tangle-Free Brush Roll is amazing and prevents hair from wrapping around the brush. Pro tip- when hair gets stuck around a vacuum brush, the vacuum loses suction power and struggles to clean effectively. If you’ve ever had the dreaded task of cleaning hair from a vacuum, you’ll appreciate this feature.
Washable filter
I won’t name names, but some vacuums require an engineering degree to remove the bin and filter. I’ll let you in on a little secret: Bissell’s foam filter can be washed with soap and water and dries in less than an hour. Best part? It’s easy to take out, and just as easy to put back in.
Bissell ICONpet Cordless Vacuum: Final thoughts
I’m not sure anyone wakes up in the morning thinking, “I can’t wait to vacuum,” but this cordless vac makes it a much less painful chore.
If you’re sick of lingering pet hair, the Bissell ICONpet cordless vacuum was built for you. It’s simple, practical, and it does what the box says. So easy to use, my children may begin moonlighting as housekeepers.
Pet hair is sneaky, but the Bissell’s LED lights show no mercy. Pet dander lingers, but it’s nothing the Motorized TurboBrush can’t handle. Behind my fridge? I’ll spare you the details, but it was ugly. Dust for days, and it was swept away in two passes.
I also love that Bissell uses their SmartSeal Allergen System, which does a great job keeping dust inside the vacuum. For allergy sufferers, this is a noteworthy quality of the ICONpet.
Also affordable compared to many competitors, the Bissell ICONpet Cordless Vacuum is a winner in our book.
There are only a few things I didn’t swoon over, and they’re not dealbreakers. The design is not particularly ergonomic and is top-heavy. It’s not too noticeable for quick clean-ups, but if you plan on tackling the whole house, your arm may need a break (or perhaps I should join a gym). Learn from my mistake and don’t rely on a wall to hold your vacuum up. It will fall right over, as the Bissell ICONpet is not a free-standing vacuum.

- Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all body parts away from openings and moving parts.

- Do not pick up anything that burns or smokes, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
- Do not use without dirt tank or filters installed.
- Use only on dry indoor surfaces.
- Keep the instrument on a level surface.
- Disconnect the battery before cleaning or servicing.
- If the charger's power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person to avoid a hazard.
- Do not pull or carry the charger by the cord, use the cord as a handle, close the cord door, or pull the cord by sharp edges or corners.
- Keep charger cord away from hot surfaces.
- Grab the charger plug, not the cord, to disconnect.
- Do not handle the charger plug or device with wet hands.
- The battery, the charging port on the handheld vacuum cleaner and the outlet of the charger must not be short-circuited.
- When removing the battery, the device must be disconnected from the charger.
- Battery must be disposed of safely.
- Do not charge, disassemble, heat above 60°C/140°F, or incinerate.
- Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
- Dispose of used batteries promptly.
- This instrument contains batteries that should only be replaced by qualified personnel.
- Prevent unintended start. Before picking up or carrying the device, make sure that the switch is in the off position. Carrying the instrument with your finger on the switch, or turning on the power of the instrument with the switch turned on, may cause accidents.
- Battery may leak liquid under improper conditions; avoid contact. In case of accidental contact, rinse with water. If liquid gets into eyes, additionally seek medical attention. Fluid leaking from the battery may cause irritation or burns.
- Do not use a damaged or modified instrument. Damaged or modified batteries may behave unexpectedly, resulting in a fire, explosion, or risk of injury.
- Do not expose the instrument to fire or excessive temperatures. Exposure to fire or temperatures above 130°C/266°F may cause an explosion.
- Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the instrument outside the temperature range specified in the instructions. Incorrect charging or at temperatures outside the specified range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.
- Have a qualified repair person use only identical replacement parts. This ensures that the safety of the product is maintained.
- Do not modify or attempt to repair the instrument except as directed in the use and care instructions.
- Maintain a temperature range of 4 to 40°C / 40 to 104°F when charging the battery, storing the device, or during use.
- Use only the charger provided by the SIL manufacturer, model SSC320110US.
- Charge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
- Unplug the charger from the electrical outlet when not in use, before cleaning, servicing or servicing the instrument, and if your instrument has a moving brush accessory, before connecting or disconnecting a tool.
- This instrument contains non-replaceable batteries.
- The battery must be removed from the device before disposal.
- Do not use with damaged cord or charger. If the appliance does not work properly, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to a service center.
- Turn off all controls before unplugging.

1. Open the wall storage and charging station, use a bubble level to make sure it is level, and insert two screws to fix it to the wall. To charge your device, make sure the wall-mounted storage and charging station is installed near a power outlet. | |
| 2. Insert the tool holders on the side of the wall storage and charging station. To install the charging cord, remove the power cord clip from the wall-mounted storage and charging station. Insert the charging cord and secure it with the charging cord clip. | |

Before first use, be sure to fully charge your vacuum cleaner for 4 hours to get a full charge.
To charge the battery, you can connect the charger directly to the handheld vacuum cleaner or to the wall storage and charging station.

| 1. Switch off the machine. Remove the dirt tank from the handheld vacuum cleaner by sliding the latch on the front of the tank. | |
| 2. Grasp the top of the tank and pull up. This activates the cleaning function to remove debris from the strainer. | |
3. Pull the separator completely out of the tank and tap the screen on the side of the bin. | |
| 4. Drain the dirt from the tank into a trash can. | |
| 5. Insert the separator back into the tank, making sure that the notch fits into the tank correctly. | |
| 6. Place the entire reservoir in the handheld vacuum cleaner, aligning the notch on the bottom of the reservoir with the hook on the handheld vacuum cleaner. Replace. |

| 1. Turn off the machine and press the foot release button to disconnect the motorized floor cleaning foot from the extension. | |
2. Turn the slot on the side of the foot clockwise using a flathead screwdriver or coin, and pull out the brush roll. | |
| 3. To use the hard floor brush roller or replace the brush after cleaning, slide the brush roller back into the chamber and turn it counterclockwise with a tool or a coin to lock it in place. |
WARNING
- Before using the vacuum cleaner, make sure that the dirt tank is in the locked position and that all filters, both pre and post filters, are in place. DO NOT use the vacuum cleaner without these filters.
Filter cleaning and replacement

Pre-motor filters
For best cleaning results, always clean the pre-motor filter after every use.
| 1. To clean the pre-engine filter, turn off the machine and remove the dirt tank from the handheld vacuum cleaner. | |
2. Pull the filter out of the top of the tank. Remove the filter from the filter frame housing. Tap the filter against the side of the bin to remove only debris. | |
| 3. To clean, rinse with warm water and wring to remove dirt. Lay out 24 hours until completely dry. Be sure to insert the filter into the frame with the tag side down (touching the frame) before using the machine. |
After-motor filter
| 1. To clean the after-motor filter, turn off the machine and press the latch on the back of the handheld vacuum cleaner. | |
| 2. Remove the post-motor filter from vacuum. | |
| 3. If there is debris on the filter, tap it on the bin and rinse with warm water. Let it dry for at least 24 hours before putting it back in the vacuum and installing the filter cap. |
WARNING
- Do not use the vacuum cleaner until you have read all instructions and operating procedures.
- Before using the vacuum cleaner, make sure that the dirt tank is in the locked position and that all filters, both pre and post filters, are in place. DO NOT use the vacuum cleaner without these filters.
Battery Disposal

| 1. Discharge the battery. Make sure the device is disconnected from the charger and turned off and the handheld vacuum cleaner is disconnected from the extension tube. | |
| 2. Remove the five screws from the back of the device. | |
| 3. Remove the bottom cover from the back of the machine. | |
| 4. Disconnect and remove the battery assembly by unplugging the two connectors from the cleaner. | |
| 5. Properly discard product residue. |
