Niche User: I came here 20 years ago, thinking we'd be here about 3 years, but it's been a great place to raise a family, and now we've moved our retired parents and other family members into the community! The altitude can be tough for those coming from sea level, but other than that it's a fantastic place. Concerts every Friday night (free) at local parks, parades, art events, a craft brewing cooperative, great neighbors, trails, skiing, it's a super area and it's welcoming and visually appealing. Niche User: Living in Midland has been amazing. I went to elementary through high school in Midland and the school system there is unbeatable, the level of learning is very high and it prepared me for college. Also living in Midland you have so much to do, our biggest tourist attraction is the fridge which is on the Tittabawase river. The bridge connects the skate park and playground with downtown midland which is full of local businesses including my brothers clothing shop. Current Resident: Los Alamos is a great town for outdoor enthusiasts. Miles and miles of trails, great camping sites all over, rock climbing, skiing, rafting...The longest commute to work is 15 minutes. The town is very safe, and the schools are good. Schools used to be 10/10, but in the past few years, they went down to 7/10. My oldest child is much older than my youngest, and helping at schools with both of them, I can see the difference :( The downside of Los Alamos, is that many local residents have a mentality of living here temporary, and do not invest much in local businesses, they shop "off the hill". For the town with a median household income twice the national average, Los Alamos invests very little in itself. Poor entertainment and shopping as a result. The housing also looks a little depressing. The majority of the houses were built in the early era of Los Alamos, and only a few are remodeled. Current Resident: I’ve lived many places as an adult and my wife and I chose Carmel as the place to raise our family. Our initial exposure was visiting friends that had recently relocated here from California. I’ve never been anywhere that has the combination of great neighborhoods , amazing schools, outstanding athletic programs, quality restaurants all in a safe and affordable environment. I’m convinced that this is the best place to raise a family in the country! Admittedly, we’ve recently noticed the school board adopting more liberal policies and it appears to be proactively recruiting left leaning board members. We left our prior community in suburban Connecticut for this reason as the schools started to decline so we are particularly sensitive to this. That said, I believe the community as a whole is conservative and won’t allow this bent to ruin a good thing. I would highly recommend this a place to raise a family. It’s truly a hidden gem!... I have nothing but good things to say about the township, in general, and Monmouth Junction, in particular. The school system is nationally renowned, and the extra-curricular activities associated with it, stellar. It's increasingly expensive to live there; however, there are few better places to live in New Jersey--or anywhere else. Current Resident: Excellent school district. Very safe area with plenty of parks near by such as Mercer County. Access to all major highways are right here so the ease of commute is nice. Nightlife here stinks as there is only one restaurant/bar you can go to in town center. Another downfall is that there are way too many banks and pharmacies within a legit half mile radius in town center, pretty ridiculous. Other than that, I would highly recommend moving here!... Current Resident: I love love love living in Kendall Park! I've been living here since I was in Kindergarten, and I'm currently a Freshman at the local South Brunswick High School. It's safe to say the schooling is great! The community is also very safe, as there are police during most public events and protecting the schools. The homes are affordable and in great neighborhoods. It's been so much fun living here! There are so many stores nearby, and a ShopRite even recently came to the South Brunswick/Kendall Park area! The town has a lot of character with a quaint downtown, beautiful and unique homes, duck pond, walking trail by the reservoir and two country clubs. Every street is tree-lined. The library is amazing with a separate wing for kids and dynamic programming. There’s a 5K race, Spring Garage Sale, streets are closed for Halloween (it’s quite a celebration), and many events and things to do throughout the year.
