SHOP EARLY WAY DAY DEALS

What is Way Day?

Way Day is Wayfair's biggest sale of the year. And as a matter of fact, it's one of the biggest home sales, period. During the annual shopping event, the site that practically defined online home shopping will be slashing prices across all product categories. Furniture, home decor, appliances, bedding, rugs, and more will be discounted up to 80% off.

Way Day also extends beyond Wayfair.com to sister brands that you might not even realize fall under the Wayfair umbrella: AllModern, Birch Lane, and Joss & Main. Since Wayfair's humongous inventory can be a bit overwhelming, be sure check out these sites if you are honed in to a specific aesthetic. AllModern is the way to go if you're a fan of midcentury design, Birch Lane is great for traditional, rustic, or modern farmhouse-style pieces, and Joss & Main has a wide selection of contemporary styles, from boho to industrial to minimal.

When is Way Day 2022?

Way Day 2022 is coming up on Wednesday, October 26th and Thursday, October 27th. That's it. 48 hours only. If you blink, you could miss it. Mark your calendar, set your alarm—whatever it takes to make sure you're there.

If you're having a case of déjà vu, that's because Wayfair already hosted one Way Day 2022 in April. For the first time ever, the site is hosting a second Way Day sale in the same calendar year.

What are the best Way Day deals?

There are thousands of items marked down 50% off, 60% off, 70% off, and even up to 80% off in certain categories. Right now, we are seeing the best deals — that is, greater than 50% off! — on bedroom furniture, area rugs, wall art, living room furniture, outdoor furniture, and kitchen appliances.

Since tons of shoppers will be competing to score the best deals when October 26th rolls around, we recommend acting now if you see something you like. Inevitably, some of these deals are going to sell out. So without further ado, see below for some of the best early Way Day deals that you can shop today.

With the changing seasons and low light situation, a kitchen with the wrong aspect can start to feel like a dark, dreary space. While in summer, kitchens might feel light and joyful, they can turn dark and moody in the winter, leaving the space feeling cold and unwelcoming. But fear not, there are "clever" design tricks at hand that you can work with to brighten the space and embrace natural light.

Eugene Colberg, principal at Colberg Architecture said: "Clever lighting is one clear way to help brighten the space, but everything influences how bright the space is, from the furniture to the colour scheme.

"When it comes to creating a brighter space, there are two light types to pay attention to make it feel brighter: one is adding more ceiling lights, and the other is via under-cabinet lighting.

"Recessed and track lighting in the ceiling can make the room brighter overall, however, when one uses these in the modern kitchen, you’re typically facing the countertop, prepping, and cooking.

"When the light is behind you, what you have in front of you is a shadow." This means, even if your lights are perfect, we have to consider other ways to keep our kitchens bright.

1. Encourage natural light with frameless windows

As kitchens typically face the rear of the house and onto a garden, there is ample potential to maximise natural light and allow it to flood a dark kitchen. Lior Brosh of Brosh Architects, said: "Think about creating a large opening to the rear or using cleverly designed skylights to manipulate the natural light flow into darker spaces.”

Let the light shine in through a larger floor-to-ceiling window and create a reading nook or window seat to encourage you to stop, take a moment, and look outside.

2. Don’t just rely on white

While the temptation may be to paint a dark room bright white to try make the most of the light it does get, this can sometimes just leave your space looking grey and washed out - after all, white won't look the same as it does in a south-facing room, and you might find its a colour to avoid in a north-facing one.

According to Lior, you can have a bright kitchen regardless of the colour. He pointed out: "Even black, dark kitchens can be bright – you just need to work with the natural lighting at hand.”

3. Mix and match light sources

Kitchens can be bright and beautiful with an array of lighting sources. Eugene said: "The next best thing is to increase brightness in the kitchen using lighting."

Charlie Bowles, director of Original BTC, shared that, if possible, consider the lighting scheme at the planning stage to maximise opportunities. He noted: "You need two types of illumination. Shadow-free task lighting for cooking and prep, and ambient lighting for when you simply want to unwind or entertain.
