Stuck on vinyl bathroom flooring ideas? Vinyl flooring doesn’t always get the best rep, but the material has myriad benefits, many of which make it a great choice for a bathroom.

This floor material is improving in quality with new technologies – and vinyl also offers a wide range of design opportunities that will suit a variety of bathroom ideas, designs and styles.

Vinyl bathroom flooring ideas

Aside from a plethora of patterns, textures and colors, you really have one key choice to make when planing your vinyl bathroom flooring ideas – standard vinyl or luxury vinyl? The former is predictably cheaper, and tends to be available either as tiles or as one large sheet.

‘Vinyl is a great and inexpensive way to add color, pattern and personality to bathroom flooring ideas without compromising on safety or quality’, says David Snazel, hard flooring buyer at Carpetright . ‘Being highly durable, slip-resistant and moisture proof, it is ideal for busy households with young families. ’

Luxury vinyl is made up of multiple layers of vinyl, and is thus thicker, more durable and more expensive. Its rigidity means that it is largely available as tiles (LVT) or planks (LVP) and has a more convincing appearance when emulating natural materials. It can also be clicked together at the sides, rather than stuck down with glue.

1. Lay down a monochromatic vinyl

A monochromatic color scheme can completely alter the feel of a bathroom but getting the balance right is key. While black and white decorating can be tricky to get right, a considered approach will be rewarded by a simple but impactful scheme that mimics bathroom floor tiles.

'The beauty of vinyl is that you can create a fantastic focal point without spending a fortune,' says Melanie Griffiths, Editor at Period Living. 'This eye-catching monochromatic floor is not for the faint hearted, which is why we love the use of the parchment color on the walls which softens this traditional bathroom whilst still allowing it to be striking. '

2. Fake parquet with luxury vinyl floor tiles

If you’re looking to emulate the look of luxury bathroom ideas without the associated price tag and maintenance, luxury vinyl tiles are an excellent – and almost indistinguishable – alternative.

‘Stone and wood LVT are designed with authentic colors and textures inspired by natural materials, and are available in a multitude of colors, so they are a good small bathroom flooring option if you want to recreate the appeal of natural wood without thinking about the maintenance required,' says says Sarah Escott, design manager at Amtico .

Using scale in interior design can add instant impact and drama to a scheme so it is vital to get it right.

'Remember that scale is important if you choose patterned flooring,' says David Snazel, hard flooring buyer at Carpetright . 'Too large a scale will cause the repeat to be lost and if it’s too small the flooring can look a little too busy.  It’s a fantastic look but one that requires confidence and an overall vision – the results, however, can look fabulous.'

4. Add interest with patterned flooring

The trend for patterned tiles and strong color shows bold to be beautiful even in the smallest of rooms. But did you know that you can mimic this look on a budget?

'Vinyl flooring is perfect for a bathroom, it’s budget friendly and available with different wear-layers of 0.2 to 0.5mm – this is the transparent top layer which adds protection and resistance to wear and tear,' says Inga Morris-Blincoe, general manager of Lifestyle Floors . 'It generally comes in a choice of widths which helps to ensure that there’s little wastage when it’s fitted.'

5. Use vinyl flooring in a neutral space

'Although there has been a move towards bolder tones, as a rule of thumb neutral flooring provides an unfussy solution for smaller spaces,' says David Snazel, hard flooring buyer at Carpetright . 'Using these tones within your small bathroom ideas will help to make the most of natural light, ensuring the room feels bright and airy.'

Stick to one uniform vinyl tile or look for ranges that offer different shapes in the same finish for added creative interest.

6. Go for a luxurious look underfoot

Both natural textures and pale colors are trending right now, so get the best of both worlds with a vinyl that mimics natural wood flooring.

'Bathrooms are a great place to experiment with your interior style but remember nothing says tranquillity like calming, muted tones and considered coordination,' says Stuart Hannah, store manager at The Floor Room . 'Unaffected by spills and splashes, luxury vinyl and vinyl offer an effective yet low maintenance solution to help recreate a spa like feel in your home.'

7. Evoke intrigue with varying patterns

Tiling is having a big moment in bathroom design. Complicated patterns, using multiple colored and unusually shaped tiles, are a standout among the genre’s latest bathroom trends – but laying them is a messy process that takes time, skill and, of course, adds to your bathroom flooring costs.

Speed things up by opting for sheet vinyl or larger vinyl tiles that emulate this look. In this bathroom, a 3D-style patterned floor looks like it is made of porcelain tiles, when it is in fact made of fewer, larger vinyl tiles.

8. Play with scale

'Although we love large scale vinyl floor designs, small tiles patterns have their place too as they're more subtle visually,' says Jennifer Ebert, Digital Editor at Homes & Gardens. 'If you love your existing bathroom decor then match your new vinyl flooring to your current colors for cohesive look.'

9. Use vinyl to add color

If you want to introduce an eye-catching bathroom color scheme, vinyl flooring is an easy way to add bold color into a room in one swift act.

'Here, a classic blue vinyl with golden highlights captures the essence of hand-painted tiles, this Pattern Larkspur by Harvey Maria + Dee Hardwicke looks just like an expensive ceramic tile,' says Lucy Tunstall, creative director at Harvey Maria .

'Our luxury vinyl tiles are easy to clean, waterproof, warm and suitable for use with underfloor heating. The tiles butt up tightly together and the adhesive creates a watertight bond making them completely waterproof and slip resistant – perfect for modern bathroom ideas.'

10. Use a partial pattern to create a modern feel

‘For the authentic modern bathroom aesthetic, a combination of pattern and imitation stone offer a contemporary look, says David Snazel. ‘If your budget won’t stretch to authentic stone or reclaimed timbers, consider using a hard flooring or vinyl solution. They look convincing but cost a fraction of the expense of sourcing and fitting stone floors, and take far less time to install.

Can you use vinyl flooring in bathrooms?

Bathrooms are the perfect place for vinyl flooring due to their durability and easy to clean nature.

'When planning a bathroom, choosing the right flooring is crucial. Not only does it have to complement the design aesthetic, but it also withstand the trials that come from water and humidity; it also needs to remain easy to clean. LVT is a fantastic option for the bathroom, as it boasts these water and stain resistant qualities,' says Sarah Escott, design manager at Amtico .

What is the best flooring for bathrooms?

'Vinyl is a particularly good choice for family bathroom ideas that are used by young children, as it is able to withstand frequent splashes during bath time, whilst offering slip resistance,' adds Sarah Escott. 'What’s more, the variety of designs available makes it possible to reproduce the look of wood and stone, without the extra care that is needed with natural materials.'

PVC bathroom tile, bathroom vinyl floor application

PVC bathroom tile is a modern budget alternative to porcelain stoneware, tile or ceramic tile. However, quartz vinyl is not only more practical than classic flooring, but also opens up new interior possibilities: decors cannot be distinguished from the texture of oak and other species! Wood finish without the use of wood is an important advantage of quartz vinyl tiles in the bathroom and an advantageous difference from ordinary tiles.

Vinyl bathroom tiles can be used on both floors and walls: create an interior in one style!

7 benefits of PVC bathroom tiles

  1. 100% water resistant. Both adhesive and interlocking vinyl floor withstand long-term direct contact with water without changing dimensions and thickness by a millimeter! Under PVC tiles it will always be dry, the seams are sealed.
  2. 100% moisture resistant. Quartz vinyl withstands an unlimited number of cycles of sudden changes in temperature and humidity: steam and cold will not cause swelling or swelling (there is nothing to swell, there is no HDF in the structure) of vinyl tiles.
  3. Underfloor heating. A heating system will add comfort to the feet, but is not mandatory: quartz vinyl is warm on its own.
  4. Anti-slip surface. Thanks to the embossed PVC surface, the tiles do not slip when wet.
  5. Impact resistant. Falling heavy objects will not leave a scratch on quartz vinyl.
  6. Seams do not blacken. The joints of PVC panels are almost invisible, in contrast to the thermal joints of porcelain stoneware, which will inevitably turn black over time.
  7. Easy cutting. Quartz vinyl laminate is cut very easily with a utility knife. Unlike, for example, porcelain stoneware, which can only be safely cut with a special tile cutter.

Among the disadvantages of quartz vinyl for bathroom flooring is the artificial origin of the flooring. But the evolution of the vinyl floor is directed towards naturalization: already now in the composition of a typical quartz vinyl - up to 70% of quartz sand. In addition, a number of manufacturers offer mineral-based SPC floor coverings, which are essentially pressed and improved stone floor !

✔ Attention! All of these advantages are valid only when choosing a branded vinyl floor from trusted manufacturers in a specialized salon!

Types of vinyl tiles for bathroom floor

There are 2 types according to installation method (suitable for bathroom) :

► Interlocking vinyl laminate. The planks are connected to each other by locking joints, like a laminate: simple and quick do-it-yourself installation, 100% tightness of the seams, the ability to disassemble the floor if necessary, as well as the operation of the bathroom immediately after completion of work. In addition, thanks to the interlocking laying, the unevenness of the subfloor is compensated: differences of up to 2 mm per meter are allowed, and for some manufacturers - up to 3 mm.

► Adhesive PVC floor tiles. Adhesive quartz vinyl per m2 is cheaper, but it is also necessary to take into account the cost of glue (in the Polov salons we give glue for PVC upon purchase) and the services of installers. In addition, for a thinner adhesive vinyl floor, all defects in the base are visible: very careful preparation of the screed is required. An important advantage is the ability to replace a damaged panel without dismantling the entire coating.

Vinyl laminate for the bathroom

VINYLAM is a completely environmentally friendly and moisture resistant floor covering. VINILAM is an excellent option for installation in bathrooms where moisture levels are at their highest.

Vinyl tile is perfect for just about any room in your home. The most popular room is the bathroom. Constant steam, splashing water, wet feet - all this requires a high-quality moisture-resistant floor covering. VINILAM is exactly what you need to solve this problem. Waterproof material does not allow moisture that has fallen on the surface to penetrate inside, which means it prevents swelling, delamination and warpage of the floors.

Vinyl as a bathroom solution is especially relevant for homes with small children. In the bathroom, children love to frolic and often go barefoot. VINYLAM not only does not react to moisture, but also gives a feeling of comfortable warmth upon contact with the skin of the legs. If you want even more warmth under your feet, you can equip a “warm floor” at the base of the bathroom. VINYLAM perfectly conducts heat to the surface, while its safety only increases.

All plank surfaces in the VINILAM collections are treated with ”Ultra-fresh” technology and have built-in antibacterial properties. The antibacterial surface of the slats counteracts the development of bacteria and fungi on the surface of the material, so the child and other family members will be completely protected and will be able to walk barefoot on the warm floor without hindrance.

Another major hazard in the bathroom is slipping. Many consumers refuse ceramic tiles for this very reason. A slippery floor in the bathroom is very dangerous for all family members. VINYLAM coatings are made of materials that prevent slipping, have relief embossing on the surface, therefore they have a slip resistance index of R10-R11. This means that you can choose from good to very good slip protection. Injuries on vinyl flooring VINYLAM are excluded.

Today, the most popular and cheapest flooring is linoleum. After its laying, there are some difficulties with the care and preservation of the decorative appearance. For example, any heavy furniture can tear it or scratch it when it is dragged. This will not happen with VINILAM. Its strength has been proven by many studies. VINYLAM does not demand special efforts in leaving. Rugs in the bathroom can be used as a decor, but they are useless there to protect the floor from falling jars and bottles. VINYLAM has high impact resistance. VINYLAM dampens impact noise, and in such extreme cases, the noise will not be frighteningly harsh for both your family and your neighbors.

When it comes to hygienically cleaning this floor, water and a mop will do the trick. If you want to remove stains, deep clean the surface, antibacterial treatment with an appropriate detergent that is compatible with pvc coatings will help clean the surface more effectively without damaging it.

With such a wide range of flooring choices, it can sometimes be difficult to make a decision. We found out why VINYLAM is the best choice and which collection can be chosen for the bathroom.

Which VINILAM option is the best for the bathroom?

Our goal is to always offer the perfect flooring solution for every customer. If you have already decided that vinyl is a great option for you and your home, then we will pay attention to which vinyl will be the most suitable, based on the categories of durability, style and your budget.

VINYLAM is an environmentally friendly product that can serve in conditions of high humidity, in which other floor coverings cannot serve. To care for VINYL, only regular wet cleaning is enough to keep it looking like new.

Expert opinion: “After testing VINYL, along with other popular types of coatings in real operating conditions, our team came to the same conclusion - VINYL is durable and 100% waterproof. We “calculated” its strength by conducting an experiment: we alternately dropped objects of different weight onto both coatings. Similar manipulations were carried out with water. VINYLAM did an excellent job with strength tests, and water after a day VINYLAM is a high-quality and durable covering. The guarantee for the material is at least 20 years.

In our assortment VINYLAM is represented by various collections. The collections are made up of various decors in various colors with various textures on the surface.

Best for Style

We pride ourselves on being able to provide a fantastic selection of vinyl flooring. Our range is presented in light, medium and dark shades, as well as shades of white, gray, black. You can choose the decor of stone, concrete or natural wood. Planks and tiles can be easily and easily installed and replaced.

When choosing VINYL for the bathroom, it is recommended to use the following series:

Each series of the collection is presented in stylish decors in HD quality. This makes the flooring an impressive decoration for any room.

VINYL is made from high quality environmentally friendly materials, which is one of the decisive factors in choosing a bathroom. Other Features:

Customer Review: I had a long argument with my wife about flooring in the bathroom. I was inclined to choose VINYLAM, but my wife was against it (she did not believe in his "miracle" properties). I ordered everything and packed it myself quickly and easily. At first, the wife was indignant, and after a while she began to advise her friends.

When renovating a home, flooring is always at the top of the to-do list. In the past, ceramic and porcelain tiles were the #1 choice for bathroom floors. However, with the development of modern technology, they can simply become a thing of the past.

Porcelain and ceramic tiles look beautiful, but are more expensive than vinyl. To install them, you will have to buy or rent expensive tools. At a minimum, you will need to purchase cutting tools for laying tiles, as well as grout for joints.

VINYL does not require expensive special tools. There is no need to knead a dirty solution, VINYLAM is mounted without dust, dirt, noise and without extra effort in one step.

The bathroom has a complex flooring configuration, since a bathtub, a sink, a cabinet, a toilet bowl, a washing machine, etc. are installed in a small area. Linoleum is not suitable here, it must be laid over the entire area at once, and then cut off. VINYLAM tiles are easy to install, precisely cutting out sections of the flooring using a template and laying the material even in hard-to-reach places.

Water on the floor surface can come from the shower, and from the sink, or from wet feet. Humidity is a common factor in a bathroom, even with a good ventilation system. The typical laminate has a great decorative look, but in the bathroom its appeal fades. Laminate floors are very sensitive to water and detergents.

As soon as water is absorbed into the seams of the laminate, the substrate will begin to absorb it and the laminate will begin to swell at the edges of the lamellas. VINYLAM is water resistant, so it can withstand almost any amount of water that falls on it.

It's hard to imagine, but VINYL is more durable than larch boards. Planks are made from wood, which makes them very susceptible to denting and decay from mold when exposed to moisture.

Properly installed VINYLAM will withstand heavy daily use and does not need to be treated with moisture barriers or repaired due to exposure to moisture.

VINILAM looks like wood but does not absorb moisture. Too much moisture in the air and wood floors will swell. VINYL does not absorb moisture, so you don't have to worry about floor warping or swelling.

The marble floor has a luxurious appearance. Who wouldn't want to see it in their bathroom?

The problem, however, is that marble and other natural stone are hard materials. Walking on it is dangerous, the surface is slippery. Marble is a hard material, so walking on it creates increased stress on the joints of the legs, especially for older people. Vinyl tiles are softer and absorb some of the impact load on the joints.

VINILAM does not require the same care as granite.
