If you've been watching The Block 2022, then you may be aware that Tom and Sarah-Jane in House 1 are planning to include a very interesting feature in their kitchen.

It's none other than a pot filler tap.

If you've never heard of a pot filler tap before then you're not alone, and thankfully we're here to help.

It's essentially an extendable tap that sits above your stove, allowing you to have easy access to water while cooking.

That's right, no more awkwardly shoving a big pot into your kitchen sink before struggling to get it back out. Instead you can simply use your pot filler tap, which usually sits flush against the backsplash above your stove or cooktop.

It's set up so that it can extend outwards above your stove when needed, and also be tucked against the wall out of the way while you cook. Pot filler taps are also known as pot filler faucets, pasta arms or kettle faucets.

"Pot fillers are the best thing that ever happened," Sarah-Jane beamed in the above video. "They just add a whole different level of amazingness."

But the team's grand idea did have some pushback from Foreman Keith who paid Tom a visit to raise some concerns.

"It's causing a few issues," Keith said. "Our surveyor is saying no to [the pot filler tap], but I've heard you got in contact with the V.B.A (Victorian Building Authority) and they're saying maybe yes. "

Tom confirmed there's no regulation saying pot filler taps aren't allowed in Australia.

Tom hit back at Foreman Keith's suggestion that the team might not be allowed to add a pot filler tap to their kitchen. (Nine)

But this didn't completely reassure Keith, who then voiced his concerns about a tap being next to a stove.

"No different to a pot overflowing with water when you're boiling pasta," Tom responded.

Keith then raised the alarm once more. "It's a bit different to a tap. What if you forget to turn it off?" he asked.

"Well you're a (bleep) aren't ya," Tom replied, leaving Keith in stitches laughing.

Keith was left laughing after facing off with Tom. (Nine)

Without a regulation saying that pot filler taps are illegal, Tom and Sarah-Jane remain determined to include one in their kitchen.

We can't wait to see if they end up installing one in their kitchen when the space is unveiled at Room Reveals.

Reasons Not To Include a Pot Filler In Your New Kitchen Design — Toulmin Kitchen & Bath

As your kitchen remodel becomes real, you are going to be asked to make decisions about a range of options by your kitchen designer. A pot filler faucet is one of those design options a growing number of people are asked to consider.

A pot filler is a faucet located on the backsplash over your range or cooktop. Pot Filler Faucets have an articulated arm that enables the tap swing out over the burners so you can fill large stock pots where they will be heated. Proponents say the biggest positive is reducing strain on your arms, back, and hands from lugging heavy, water-filled pots from the sink to the stove. Others who have splurged on a pot filler feel that they are more of a hassle than they are worth.

When it comes to this type of specialty kitchen design accessory, the negatives can sometimes outweigh the positives. Even with the advantage of eliminating the burden of moving heavy pots from the sink to the stove, there are several issues to consider whether the additional cost of the pot filler faucet would be worth it.

A Potentially Leaky Faucet Over My Dual Fuel Range? I Don't Think So.

With additional plumbing and an extra tap comes more chances that something will drop, drip or disconnect. A leaking pipe over a stove can quickly turn into a big problem, especially if you are not home at the time it begins. Water collecting in your oven, within the walls, or on your floor is not the kind of kitchen design you were going for with your remodel. No one wants to come home to find a water leak that has damaged the electronics within their costly Wolf range.

Another Greasy Over The Range Fixture To Clean. Joy.

Another concern homeowners find is with the additional cleaning challenges. Any fixture near the stove is sure to collect grease and making sure the arm, the tap, and the pipe joints are clean is not always easy. Of course, merely reaching the entire arm may be hard if it is placed near the center of the stove.

Finally, you should consider how often you need to fill a pot with a large amount of water. If that only happens at your annual 4th of July party where you serve your famous steamed lobster, then maybe the pot filler faucet doesn't need to be a tool in your kitchen design arsenal. And while it may save you the hassle of moving a filled pot from the sink to the stove, remember, you do have to move it back to the sink to dump the water out after those lobsters are ready to join the corn on the cob and the cold beer.

Is it Really Worth The Cost for Something That's Used So Infrequently?

Paying upwards of $1,200 extra for a properly installed double-jointed pot filler with two shut off valves is a costly option. If you're a casual cook, who may only use the faucet a few times a year, it may not make sense. However, there are some instances where making the investment in a pot filler does make sense. If you are a serious home chef and you don't have a prep sink, a pot filler can make cooking meals more comfortable and more efficient. Likewise, if you have a larger kitchen, carrying a pot full of water weighing 20 or 30 pounds (water weighs 8 pounds per gallon) through your kitchen can be difficult, especially for older cooks. And finally, if you make large quantities of soup, stew, or cook pasta for your every Sunday for your family gathering, a pot filler might be a smart investment.

However, if none of this applies to your lifestyle in the kitchen, perhaps your money would be better spent on a microwave drawer, small appliance cupboard, or a set of place ware that matches your new kitchen design. Just think of how fabulous it will be to serve the wonderful meals you're sure to make in your new kitchen.

Australian Aboriginal Art. Creative ideas

Australian Aboriginal Art. Ideas for creativity

Knitwear shop "Rukodelkino"

I'd like to share a bit of Australian Aboriginal art. Art originated in the process of centuries-old settlement of the continent and today is divided into two groups: art with elements of realism and conventionally geometric. The Australian Aborigines are called the most ancient culture living on our planet! The word "aboriginal" came from the English colonists and literally means "from the beginning." To date, this is the least studied culture on Earth, and it presents many mysteries that scientists have yet to find answers to.

Comfort, minimalism and spaciousness: characteristics of Australian street style

Comfort, minimalism and spaciousness: characteristics of Australian street style for the inhabitants of Europe, this is not such a significant moment as far as the purchase is concerned. Laconic, airy designs and ideas come to us from across the ocean. Previously, this other world was exclusively Japanese design. But now the Australian continent is picking up the pace, this can be seen in the number of emerging brands, fashion bloggers from Australia. In this regard, I became interested in what the locals wear in everyday life. On the example of the models of the brand "BNKR", which offers everyday items by Australian designers, you can see how this comes to life.

The idea of writing CDs came to me a couple of years ago, and since then it has been my favorite hobby. There are undoubted advantages in this kind of creativity: CDs are always available, and most importantly, it turns out unusual and original! After all, the iridescent surface of the disk shimmers so beautifully, and the stained glass painting looks very beautiful on it.
