Use Soft Artwork for a Cozy Feel
Habitually ChicThis bathroom corner from Habitually Chic uses all the available wall space to display many types of artwork: framed pictures, hanging plates, and even some metal work. To pull off a look like this, choose a theme, or at least a style, so the artwork is cohesive. In this case, architectural art in soft pencil drawings brings together the cozy look. And the symmetrical arrangement mirrors the nature of the buildings themselves. For example, the tower drawing hangs above the two low, long buildings.

Don't Be Afraid of Dark Colors
House of HoneyThis dark bathroom from House of Honey features four related prints of hot-air balloons. Coupled with the animal rug and suitcase, they give the space a fantastical travel theme. Because the background is black, the pale prints pop. Black can be difficult to pull off in a bathroom because the space usually isn't that large. But with good lighting and the right decor, a dark color can become something truly special.

Choose a Focal Point
House of HawkesThis bathroom by House of Hawkes uses a portrait as a focal point to bring interest to an otherwise simple white room. The portrait, which is set on the side of the tub, instantly attracts the eye and gives a sense of movement to the space. If you want to keep your bathroom more minimal, a single but substantial piece of art is the perfect choice. It won't clutter the space, and you can feature something that has special meaning or simply fits your style.

Create a Gallery Wall
Habitually ChicThis Habitually Chic bathroom leans more on the masculine side. The off-white walls, interesting table-turned-vanity, and vintage paintings and photos of different men all give the distinct impression of a gentleman's bathroom. The placement of the artwork is mostly symmetrical and arranged in columns. But the slight crookedness of some of the frames on the gallery wall maintains the vintage, lived-in vibe of the space.

Hang Wallpaper
Ben PentreathThis gorgeous bathroom by Ben Pentreath uses a black-and-white wallpaper covered with floral drawings for a retro, relaxing feel. While the wallpaper is art itself, it pairs well with the vintage pictures in similar tones. Keeping everything in the same color scheme helps to prevent the look from becoming too busy. And the flowers and glasses give a welcome pop of color.

Turn Back Time
DecorPadThe wainscoting in this old-fashioned bathroom found on DecorPad gives it a traditional feel and perfectly frames the space to highlight the freestanding tub. And the large piece of chinoiserie art, which is in perfect balance with the tub, brings it all together. The cream background of the painting echoes the wainscoting color, and the pale blue ink complements the shade. The chinoiserie style calls back to the Victorian era, and that theme is enhanced by the clawfoot tub and chandelier.

Fashion an Eclectic Escape
Aston MatthewsThis Victorian-style bathroom by Aston Matthews sits somewhere between featured art and a gallery. Seven pictures—colorful cityscapes and flowers—were carefully chosen to feel compatible but eclectic. This strategic "thrown together" energy is a hallmark of good Parisian design. Moreover, the frames are not hung exactly straight, giving the space a spontaneous feel. And the aqua wall color helps to bring out the details of the artwork.
20 Bathroom Art Ideas That Will Bring Creativity to Your Space
We're thrilled to see more color, pattern, and heirloom pieces fill the homes of design enthusiasts lately, and the bathroom should be no exception to this growing desire for personality-driven homes. While the powder bath has long been considered a "safe place" to experiment with the hues and prints we may not be so comfortable using in our living rooms and sleep spaces, all bathrooms deserve to be considered with such a design-centric mentality. However, that doesn't mean you have to wallpaper your primary bath or paint it mauve to achieve a more well-collected, inspiring look (though we fully support both of those design decisions).
Art can be a powerful tool for transforming your bathroom into a more exciting, inspiring place to prepare for the day ahead and unwind at the end of it in style. Designers also love to employ artwork to give clients' spaces more personality and exude their passions so it feels more inviting and comfortable. Designer Becky Nielsen says that bathroom art is a way to express oneself and show off a collection or something you love. Whether you're an avid art collector or in the process of determining movements and artists that make your heart flutter, both a single print and a flush gallery wall can add some pizzaz and character to your washroom.

Read McKendree/JBSA
The bathroom is an excellent place to use art's power to instill a sense of cheeriness and warmth, and designer Katie Rosenfeld does so beautifully in this layered, albeit quirky, space. A collection of sunny yellow art prints and a whimsical light fixture make the room feel like an even more inviting, happy place to primp and prep—even first thing in the morning.
"This is a teeny-tiny powder room in an old sea captain's home and it is nestled under the main stairs," says Rosenfeld. "The proportions are quirky, therefore I had to design it with all these angles and oddities in mind. A tiny room like this can handle drama, hence the blue trim and floor-to-ceiling wallpaper, and I knew I wanted to hang vintage art all in yellow, so I scoured online and in antique stores until I found just the right mix. "

Why is it necessary
Many people, when furnishing their home or making cosmetic repairs, wonder how they can decorate an apartment, give it some special atmosphere.
A variety of interior details are used: furniture, curtains, carpets, pillows, blankets, lamps, photo frames with pictures dear to the heart, indoor plants and flowers, and, of course, paintings. And if everything is more or less clear with the interior of the living room or kitchen, then what about the bathroom?
Should I put pictures there, or just leave a beautiful mirror? And if you still hang pictures on the walls of the bathroom, then which ones? Will they look out of place? And how, in this case, to choose a job that will not spoil the humidity - after all, in the bathroom it is very high?
Faced with all these questions, owners of bathrooms ranging from small and tiny to large and spacious often decide not to hang pictures to avoid unnecessary problems. And in vain. Now you can pick up a picture in any room, even in the bathroom or toilet.
You just need to learn a couple of tips, choose a suitable job and a place where the picture will hang. The rest is up to the little ones.
How to choose a picture for the bathroom and toilet
If you are still not sure if you can hang a picture in the bathroom, the answer is yes, you can. Modern housing with more or less spacious bathrooms does not have as much humidity as you might think. But, unfortunately, not all of us live in modern-type houses, many have apartments in old buildings. But even in such apartments, where often the bath and the bathroom are combined, you can place a picture.
Since we do not take baths and showers around the clock, the high humidity there will not be constant. If your room has good ventilation, then the painting will not be scary to hang on the walls of the bathroom.
Separately, I want to say about what material can be used. Paintings on canvas are more suitable for the bathroom than drawings on paper.
Firstly, paper is transformed by water, the slightest drops and it is already rippling, and paint is streaked. In addition, if you hang a picture under glass, it may start to fog up due to condensation. In addition, it is not safe, because glass is a very fragile material, and in a small space of the room it can break, and the fragments will be very difficult to remove.
Moisture resistant acrylic works best. After all, as far as you know, this paint does not wash off with water when it dries. If you want an abstract style painting, you can generally mix water-resistant acrylic paint with color and make something beautiful and water-resistant at the same time.
Another piece of advice that should not be neglected is the location - the place where the picture will be hung. Choose a wall or corner as far as possible from sources of moisture - the shower, the bathroom itself, the sink. So, accidental splashes of water will not fall on the picture, and the steam from the water will not go directly to the painting.
If, however, your painting is still affected by moisture, for example, sagging canvas, it can be removed for a while in another room. The canvas will dry out from moisture and level out, and if not, you can always knock wooden pegs into the corners of the stretcher that come with the canvas.
It is very important to choose a picture not only for the properties of the paint, but also for other design aspects. The picture should match the style of the bathroom, combined in color, and the frame is also included in this criterion. The picture in the bathroom should be like a continuation of the entire interior and be as appropriate as possible both in size and in theme.
Also remember about lighting. Typically, bathrooms have warm, slightly subdued lighting. But you can make additional lighting, for example, by the mirror, or above the picture itself.
Don't forget about caring for the paintings. Wipe off dust or excess moisture in time after long water procedures. Also, if the picture is hanging in a wooden frame, cover the frame with varnish - so that the structure of the tree does not suffer from moisture. Ventilate the bathroom after every bath or shower to help remove moisture.
And, of course, remember that if your bathroom is being renovated, or just very dirty and cosmetic changes are needed, for example, whitewash the ceiling, remove tarp and dust from the ceiling, wash the walls and appliances, and make the bath itself snow-white, then hanging a picture would not be appropriate.
After all, a beautiful painting will decorate the bathroom if the room is clean and tidy, and vice versa, create dissonance if the room is not 100% ready.
Pictures for shared bath and toilet
As a rule, a bathroom with a toilet is a very small, small room. Now I don’t mean large, expensive apartments, where the bathrooms have windows to the street, but spacious enough that you can even put a couch with a closet. This refers to the most simple and ordinary bathrooms in standard apartments - modern and from the period of the USSR and Perestroika.
See how harmoniously the colors of the paintings are combined with the color of the set and other details in the bathroom:
The color of the frame here plays in contrast with the color of the walls, and paired paintings only complement each other. A good idea if you have little space and don’t want to overload the space with one big picture is to hang two paired works of a small format, for example, 30x40. The color scheme is a very important element in the design, everything should be combined so that there is no visual rejection. In these examples, the color perfectly played its role. If the bathroom space is very small, give preference to horizontal paintings - so they visually make the room taller. Hang a picture with paint in the bathroom. It can be a poster made of special material. Such moisture-proof paintings look good in the interior of a modern bathroom. Again, a double painting - an original print printed on a special material and framed in a metal frame, what you need for a room with high humidityPictures for the bathroom
If you are lucky enough to have a large, spacious bathroom that is shared with a WC, then you definitely have a place to roam. The next selection of paintings in the interior is for you!
From such a bathroom you can arrange a whole boudoir, where it will be not only pleasant to take a bath, but also to gather for events and bring beauty!
Pictures for the toilet
Which picture to hang in the toilet? And how much is it needed there at all? If your bathroom is separate from the bathroom, then, in principle, you can decorate this room as well. Moisture-resistant paintings for the toilet room are not much needed, since there is no direct source of moisture or steam. Therefore, when choosing a decor for this room, you can experiment and do something very interesting or unusual, and with little effort - after all, the room is clearly smaller than the same bathroom.
Here are a few examples of how you can decorate a toilet with paintings and other items, see photo:
An original technique is to hang a mirror, or rather a few Neutral paintings in metal frames will also fit well into the interior In addition to mirrors and paintings, you can create something of your own and original, for example, as in this photo - old keys in simple wooden frames For lovers of romantic interiors - old posters or movie posters. Such a picture in the toilet on the wall is suitable for a large format, and under glass and even on paper, again, due to less humidity. You can also create a gallery in the toiletNow, after reading this article, I hope you have no doubts about the pictures in the bathroom, and you can choose exactly what you need and enjoy your beautiful and cozy bathroom!

Paintings and posters can most often be seen in the interior of the living room, bedroom, kitchen, corridor. And talking about decorating the interior of the bathroom and toilet with works of art seems silly. However, this trend has the right to exist in the countries of America, Europe and Asia, it is widely used. Properly selected paintings and posters in the interior of the bathroom can make it not just a functional room, but also a cozy room with a beautiful interior.
In the interior of the bathroom, most often you can see the bathroom itself, sometimes a shower cabin, a toilet bowl, a sink. In modern realities, a washing machine is often placed here. But to create a more comfortable space, functional cabinets or shelves are hung on the walls, terry rugs are placed on the floor, mirrors of various sizes and shapes are used. But this is already commonplace. A bold decision would be to decorate the interior of the bathroom with framed paintings that can transform the simplest interior.
Decorating the interior of the bathroom with paintings dates back to ancient times. In tsarist times, it was customary to decorate the bathroom with works of art. In our time, this tradition is being revived, allowing you to implement bold design ideas in the interior of the bathroom.
Doubts may arise about how to protect a picture or a poster from the high humidity, which, of course, is in any bathroom. This problem is solved by using special frames, protective glasses, certain tricks when placing a picture on the wall to ensure air circulation behind the canvas. Thus, you do not need to worry about the fact that the decorative decoration will lose its attractiveness. Believe me, a properly designed picture will delight its owner for many years.
Where to place pictures and posters in the bathroom
The place to place a picture or poster in the interior of the bathroom must be chosen carefully. The picture should harmoniously fit into the space of the room. It is best to decorate empty walls. You can place a decorative decoration directly above the bathroom, above the sink, if there is no mirror above it, on the opposite wall from the mirror, so that you can see the picture in the reflection.
If the bathroom is combined with a toilet, which is often pictures and posters placed above the toilet. The main thing is that the chosen decor harmoniously fits into the interior. You can place on the wall as one large picture or poster, as well as many small ones, making up a composition of paintings of the same theme and in the same design style.
How to decorate a picture or a poster
As we have already said, the bathroom is a room with a very high level of humidity. In order for a picture or poster to please with its magnificence for a long time, it is important to choose the right canvas design. Yes, yes, it is best if the picture is on canvas, because it is less susceptible to moisture.
Frames of different styles and colors can be used to frame pictures in the bathroom interior. Plastic frames are an excellent option, as they are absolutely not afraid of water. If the interior involves the use of a wooden frame, then you can apply a special impregnation, which will provide reliable protection of the wood from moisture.
Special protective glasses will protect the canvas not only from excessive moisture, but also from accidental water ingress. And as an additional option for decorating a picture, a passe-partout and slips of various textures and colors are perfect.
What to consider when choosing a picture or poster for the bathroom
The choice of a picture or poster for the interior of the bathroom, as well as for the interior of any other room, is influenced by certain selection criteria. They allow you to choose a decorative decoration that will look perfect in the interior:
- Pictures or posters must match the style of the interior;
- It is important to choose the right size blade;
- Decorative decoration must match the color scheme of the interior;
- The picture or poster must rhyme with the bathroom interior;
- The location of the painting matters.
A careful approach to each of these points will allow you to complement the bathroom interior with a harmonious decorative decoration that will not stand out from the overall design.
Pictures and posters in the interior of the bathroom in different styles
Of course, one of the most important criteria when choosing a picture or poster for the bathroom is the style of the interior. Some of the most popular bathroom interior styles are classic, modern, loft, provence. But you can often find other styles, it all depends on the preferences of the owner of the apartment.
We'll tell you which paintings and posters are best for a particular interior style.
If your bathroom is decorated in a classic style, then reproductions of famous paintings by world artists will definitely look perfect in it. It can even be some thematic artwork. For the design of such paintings, massive frames in a classic style are best suited.
To decorate a bathroom in Provence style, it is best to choose rural landscapes, old engravings, collages, paintings with flowers and plants. Since the interior in the Provence style is usually replete with light shades, it is best to use black or white frames and matching passe-partout to decorate the canvases.
The modern style of the bathroom interior gives more room for imagination. In such an interior, it is appropriate to use both reproductions of paintings and interesting works by contemporary artists. It can be vector illustrations and retro posters, old photos and modern photo art. The main thing is that the picture or poster should be the right size and harmonize in color and interior design theme.
Loft-style bathrooms are usually decorated with a minimum of details. Therefore, it is better not to hang too many paintings in such an interior. An excellent option would be posters with simple plots. For decoration, thin frames in black or white are ideal. Posters in aluminum frames look great in the interior of a loft-style bathroom.
It is not uncommon for a bathroom to be decorated in an Oriental, Asian or ethnic style. Such interior solutions have their own charm, but the choice of subjects for paintings and posters and their design options should be well thought out.
