Modern Rustic Bedroom Ideas

Looking for modern rustic bedroom ideas? While minimalist decorating styles have dominated the interior design environment for many years, a trend in modern rustic styles seems to be readily increasing. The modern rustic style emphasizes upcycled furniture, textured throws, and casual rugs. It’s also not uncommon to see rustic styles with warm color tones and organic shapes. Other common features of modern rustic styles include:

What Is Rustic Modern Style?

Rustic modern style is all about clean, modern lines and the warmth of rustic materials. Whether it’s in the bedroom, living room, or kitchen, this is contemporary design at its best. The secret to implementing this style is to mix it up by combining sleek materials and natural textures.

This style captures some of the modern trends by focusing on casual simplicity and nature. Its primary purpose is to create an elegant home while infusing a healthy dose of rustic materials and textures.

The modern rustic style usually prefers an open floor plan. If your house doesn’t use this plan, you may consider knocking down some walls. But the defining architectural component of modern rustic style is the use of exposed wood ceiling beams. These beams can be installed with their natural color, or you can paint them white.

How Can I Make My Bedroom Look Rustic?

There are many ways to make your bedroom look rustic. They include:

Modern Rustic Bedding

Modern rustic bedding uses a wide range of patterns and colors. For instance, you can mix traditional comforters and duvets with contemporary design styles. Combining pillows with subtle brown and bed covers with earth-tone hues can also create your dream bedroom.

Some modern rustic designers recommend country living accessories, while others prefer blended items. If you want to create a unique environment in your room, you must achieve a balance between rustic and contemporary elements.

Draw Inspiration from Favorite Art and Photography Pieces

Many interior designers begin the design process by carefully selecting artwork as a statement piece that also provides a complementary palette. These colors can easily be reflected in the choice of bedding, throw pillows, and blankets as well as area rugs and room decor.

The window treatment and large bedside table adds a contrasting pop of a burnt orange shade.

Modern Rustic Bedroom Furniture

You should select furniture items that combine outdoor elements and modern design. This seems like it may create design conflicts, but it will lead to a bedroom with a unique style. Regardless, your furniture must showcase simplicity and affinity to natural elements, such as wood.

Choosing furniture items made from unfinished wood makes a bold, rustic statement. The wood used in modern rustic furniture typically has a charcoal or dark grey color. These tones create a bridge between contemporary design and natural styles.

Leather accent chairs are also common furniture pieces that will make your bedroom look rustic. Feel free to include pieces that have bronze metal colors or any other dark and rich hues.

Modern Rustic Bedroom Decor

As indicated above, a modern rustic bedroom combines comfortable items with rugged materials. The result should be a decluttered space that exudes casual warmth.

Here are some common decor ideas.

Light and Breezy Bedroom

This decor brings airy vibes into the bedroom. You can start with neutral furniture such as rustic mirrors, wood nightstands, and a bed frame. You can then throw in some cool colors, such as blues and greens.

More importantly, there should be large windows to bring in enough light. In addition, nature-inspired elements, such as animal art, are excellent wall features.

Colorful Rustic Vibes

The primary elements of this decor will be traditional furniture and metallic beds, but the main focus will be having a different color for each item. For instance, you can have an orange lamp, red blanket, and green pillow. The duvet covers can be white, while the walls can be painted grey.

Classic Formal Flair

If your budget allows it, you can create a luxurious modern bedroom. This design mixes a soft color palette with cozy items. There should also be classy nightstands and striking chandeliers.

Log Cabin Approach

Wooden paneling is what usually comes to mind when log cabins are mentioned. You can replicate the log cabin design in your bedroom by using simple wooden fixtures. For instance, installing wooden slats on the wall and rafters on your bedroom ceiling can do the trick. An iron chandelier can then complete the look.

Monochromatic Modern Rustic Bedroom Ideas

A monochromatic bedroom can be a bold and dramatic design choice. This design style incorporates one color using variations of a single huge and refining the chosen color in a different ways. When done right, sticking to a minimalistic palette can create a stunning bedroom that instantly captures attention. While at first, it may seem like an intimidating process, once you follow a few simple steps, the possibilities are endless. The following steps are suggestions from Alder & Tweed Design Company (https://www.alderandtweed.com/home), with offices in Park City, Utah; Big Sky, Montana; Amenia, New York.

Step 1#
Start small. For monochromatic design beginners, the best place to begin is in a small space such as a bathroom or small guest room. It will feel less daunting because you have fewer details to have to consider in this process.

Step 2#

Think texture. When looking at any great monochromatic designed space, you will find layers of lovely textures that add dimension. Adding different textures to your space will add tons of interest, eliminating the need for color.

Step 3#
Go for contrast. Adding depths of the chosen color will create variety. For example, in a black and white monochromatic color scheme, adding the depth of deep black to the brightness of pure white can give space the visual interest it needs.

Monochromatic Modern Rustic Design

Three examples of monochromatic design done well.   Here we see a tremendous play of pattern and layers of texture.

Climate Clutter in the Bedroom to Reduce Stress

A modern rustic bedroom should take a more minimal approach, which also aids in reducing stress and anxiety. The bedroom should be tidy and organized to improve mood while also creating a visually clean and simple aesthetic.

Add Plenty of Plants

Another way to bring the outdoors in is to freshen up the home with potted plants. House plants clean and detoxify the air while adding lovely shades of green to the space.

Create Symmetry

Symmetry is a very important aspect in design as it creates visual balance in a room. Matching nightstands and lamps on each side of the bed allow the eye to rest.

Layer in the Lighting

It’s imperative to have good lighting in a bedroom, as you spend the majority of your time in the room when the sun has gone down. From chandeliers to bedside lamps, there are many modern rustic lighting fixtures to choose from.

Add a Large Scale Rug

Large-scale rugs ‘ground’ the space while also providing the opportunity for including additional color, pattern, and texture.

Pile on the Texture

Be sure to include plenty of texture to truly create the modern rustic feel to the bedroom. Texture can be included through the use of area rugs, wall coverings, pillows, throws, bedding and window treatments.

Ranch Style House Home Tour

This stunning ranch style house is perched high on a hilltop and nestled among the trees claiming its rightful place on a scenic 200-acre property in Texas. The owner desired an ample yet understated home with natural and simple architectural expression that would blend effortlessly into the landscape that surrounds it. Heavy timber columns and stone walls ground the home to the site. Reclaimed siding and simple barn-like structures give the architecture a sense of history and regional belonging. Referencing the owner’s love of the old west, many of the interior walls showcase the same stone and wood that is on the exterior of the home. This gesture alludes to a time when materials were not mass produced but simply gathered from the area and formed as needed.

Beautiful Country Homes Tour

This post features tours of beautiful country homes designed by Beth Webb, an internationally recognized interior designer admired for her tactile, serene, and dynamic spaces. Beth believes beauty only works if it is calibrated by ease, and that elegance is rooted in simplicity. “Texture is my color palette,” says Beth, who uses a variety of materials and objects to create interest in a room. She mingles sinuous profiles with hard lines, juxtaposing masculine and feminine silhouettes to create compelling, sensual spaces. Layered light is another crucial element bringing a sense of warmth, romance and contentment to Beth’s interiors.

Atlanta Traditional Country Home

Today we begin a tour of a stunning Atlanta home where the pallet was inspired by the home owner’s (Jane Hight) vast collection of blue-and-white Imari porcelain inherited from her mother and grandmother. Having served as the accountant for interior designer Lauren DeLoach for several years, it was natural for Hight to enlist the designer’s help when decorating her home. When it came to a color palette, the pair looked no further than Hight’s beloved family porcelain. “While we knew we would use blue, finding the right shade took some study,” says DeLoach. “We didn’t want a too-saturated hue, but we didn’t want it too pale. We also needed another color to add punctuation marks here and there, so the salmon hue came from the Imari porcelain.”

Country Home Tour

The small and compact English-style country home is 1,400-square-feet and situated on a sweeping pasture across from the Inn at Brays Island in South Carolina. The owners hired Interior Designer, Beth Webb to create a pastoral blend of Anglo and Low Country traditions. “It’s interesting how a house this tiny can be so INCREDIBLY LIVABLE. Inside, all that extreme verticality means the rooms feel neither contained or compressed. Plus the house has a beautiful orientation on the property, so there’s a lovely dappling of light morning, afternoon, and evening. We took advantage of this as much as possible, especially in the galley kitchen, which we designed as kind of a non-kitchen kitchen, a space that looks more like a sun-splashed garden room with that huge window.

White Kitchen Cabinet Ideas

Kitchen cabinets come in a wide variety of colors, with white being one of the most popular choices. One of the main benefits of white kitchens is that they never go out of style, they coordinate with everything and create natural light reflection. White kitchen cabinets are timeless and the perfect choice for those who want to create a blank canvas and plant to add interest with flooring, window treatments, artwork, and area rugs. White cabinets can instantly brighten a kitchen and provide the illusion of more space. To avoid creating a kitchen that feels cold, consider adding a splash of color or texture, and mixing white cabinets with contrasting countertops or backsplashes.

Cream Kitchen Cabinet Ideas

Cream kitchen cabinets have increasingly grown in popularity over the past few years – and for good reason! Cream is warmer than white and lends a timeless and luxurious look to a kitchen design. Cream-colored cabinets work in many different design styles, from modern to rustic, traditional, country, and farmhouse. They also are available in a wide variety of cabinet styles including shaker, recessed, and raised panel. Cream is a soft hue that is as timeless as white or gray but warmer, making it easier on the eyes and helping to make any space feel less clinical. It also pairs effortlessly with any accent color or material, from brass finishes to dark woods.

21 rustic bedroom interior - photos and descriptions

Surely, many will agree that the bedroom is one of the important rooms in the house. After all, it is here that you meet a new day, and also see off the outgoing one. In this room you relax, indulge in laziness and bliss, dream, make plans for the future. Therefore, its design should be approached especially seriously and carefully.

Today, architects offer a huge number of bedroom design options, and choosing the most acceptable and spectacular one is not difficult. But if you are bored with modern interiors, where everything is ordered and a bit picturesque, and you want something extraordinary, original, this topic will help you with this.

Below you can see and appreciate 21 delightful rustic room design ideas that, along with comfort, fill the room with coziness, a sense of security and stability, as well as closeness to nature, which is especially lacking for residents of megacities.

It should also be noted that the considered options will look especially good in country houses, mountain chalets, rooms equipped in the attic space, and will certainly help to find the answer to the question of how to make the bedroom cozy.

Interiors that give warmth and comfort on long winter evenings

As you probably already know, country style is distinguished by the use of natural materials such as wood, stone, cotton, linen, the use of natural colors and simple, sometimes even somewhat rough configurations.

But therein lies the special charm of this design. In such rooms, an atmosphere of friendliness always reigns, and time seems to freeze in them, allowing you to gain strength, escape from all problems and get undoubted pleasure from being in them.

Dan Joseph Architects is a prime example of this. As you can see, the authors not only did not mask the massive beams, but deliberately focused on them with the help of untreated surfaces of walls and furniture, as well as the original racks of the amazing canopy.

Bouquets with sunflowers look very touching in this wooden space, resembling rays of the sun that managed to break through the density of crowns and trunks. And as a detail that enlivens the interior and adds homely warmth to it, the designers chose a woolen carpet with a geometric pattern that is quite bright and suitable for many styles of bedroom design. And doesn’t this option remind you of the house of a forest fairy or an elf?

It should be noted that this luxurious Headwaters Camp Cabin villa was not only the epitome of high craftsmanship, but also a convincing proof of the possibility of obtaining an energy efficient building without the use of additional materials.

By the way, it is located in one of the most beautiful places in Montana, Big Sky Ski Resort. And this project managed to get the title of "Most Responsible" residence of the year.

Look how noble a rustic bedroom can look. The light and cozy room, decorated in creamy brown colors, attracts the eye with its elegance and naturalness. Everything here is also made of natural materials, but with the use of elegant forms.

This bedroom has a lot of amazing details that photographer Audrey Hall managed to capture. This is an original author's table, on which a lamp rises on a beautiful support, and an equally attractive stool made from a tree trunk, and a fluffy fur carpet and a plaid, and the figures of horses in the picture and the tabletop, rushing towards each other.

It is also impossible not to notice how subtly the designers managed to link each item, creating a complete and integral image, in which momentum and infinity are intertwined.

Rustic sophistication and charm

Reid Smith Architects & Teton Heritage Builders offer equally interesting bedroom design ideas. For example, their design of the rooms at the Lower Foxtail Residence, which can be seen in the portfolio of LC2 Design Services, is the epitome of a powerful union of fashion trends and calm country style.

This is clearly expressed through striking organic details such as the watercolor pattern on the carpet and painting, the luxurious combination of cool and warm shades, well-finished wood paneling and stone cladding with amazing texture, as well as individual pieces of furniture, among which you can notice modern configurations, and deliberately rough, but not devoid of attractiveness designer hand-made forms.

Did you know that even an ordinary room with white walls and ceilings and unremarkable furniture can be easily decorated in a hospitable rustic style? Comfort and attractiveness in this case are created with the help of expressive details typical for such interiors.

See how this is brought to life in the Mill Valley Mansion's modern bedroom interior, designed by Artistic Designs for Living. Fluffy pillows and original suede throw give the bed an attractive, untouched look.

The walls of this small room are lavishly decorated with paintings, the main theme of which is, of course, landscapes. No less impressive is the original chandelier in the form of branched horns, which illuminates this cozy space from above in the evening, and Roman blinds, chosen to match the main elements.

The work of designer Luis Jauregui, who created a bedroom for children, looks very delightful. Apparently, this is why the neutral palette is diluted with bright coral, blue, yellow shades, which gives the interior playfulness and lightness.

There are also a lot of original details in the room, such as the signed chest of drawers that make it easy for the child to find the right items, educational paintings on the walls and a huge closet framing the window, which will be filled with different things as the owner grows up: first with toys, then with textbooks, educational games, favorite books.

Modern rustic style

As a staple of the country, wood is very popular both as a base material for furniture and as a natural finish. With it, you can completely veneer the internal structures in the room, and this option can often be found in many country mansions or country houses.

To prevent the room from looking too monotonous, you can try to vary the shades (as you know, each breed has its own color and texture), as well as replace some of the linear configurations with more spectacular ones.

It should be noted that a modern rustic bedroom design can be greatly enriched with built-in furniture in the same beautiful wood as used for decoration, for example, in the house project in Amenia, New York, from Allan shop.

Do you want to surprise your guests not only with a warm welcome, but also with individuality? Decorate their room in an original way, but no less luxurious than the rest of the rooms in the house.

Designers from Peace Design have proposed a rather interesting option that allows you to plunge into the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. This similarity was ensured not only by the plank ceiling and furniture, but also by a massive metal chandelier of vintage configuration, suspended in the center of the bedroom.

Enhances the effect of antiquity carved armchair of amazing beauty and decor in the form of horns over the head of the bed. And natural shades and fresh flowers fill the space with peace and tranquility.

In the archive of works by the same company (Peace Design) there is an even more amazing project, which can be called royally luxurious. Delightful dark wood designs, leather upholstery sofas, silk curtains and bedding emphasize the comfort of natural materials and reflect the romantic side of the design. In such a room, which inspires confidence and a sense of security, you can not only have a good rest from everyday affairs, but also get a lot of unforgettable impressions.

Harmonious combination of velveteen details and rustic elements

As you probably already noticed, country is a sure option when you want to create an “antique” interior, the demand for which is gradually increasing. Of course, a bedroom in a modern style is elegant, comfortable and cozy, but how can it compare with the charm of emphatically rough beams, the romance and luxury of lush canopies, amazing carved furniture, amazing bronze chandeliers on long suspensions?

See how colorful the room looks, presented in the photo of Audrey Hall, who managed to capture not only all the interesting details, but also convey a special lush atmosphere created by the skillful hands of the architects and enhanced by chic blue velvet accents. Its noble hue casts silver under the influence of sunlight and is filled with depth and mystery in the light of lamps or candles.

If you're a fan of this style, you'll love the Lower Foxtail Residence bedroom design by Teton Heritage Builders. You can see how gracefully the architects have adapted the combination of wood and rough stone to the requirements of modern design, creating a highly comfortable and delightful space.

Simplicity and recycled wood for luxury bedrooms

Reclaimed Space's La Arboleda mansion bedroom design sets itself apart from the rest by using recycled materials to create a rustic feel.

Exquisite wall and ceiling finishes made from boards from old crates, sheds and even demolished houses. The architects not only gave strong wood a second life, but also offered a fairly economical and efficient option for interior design.

In addition, they decided not to burden the space with unnecessary objects and complex shapes, as a result of which an updated minimalist version of country music appeared.

Rustic color accents

A beautiful bedroom interior doesn't have to be boring and monotonous. And this can be achieved by carefully adding bright colors to the space (we must not forget about moderation, otherwise you can get a ridiculous and tastelessly decorated room from an elegant room).

It must be said right away that there are no restrictions on the choice of desired shades: even the most daring colors can look harmoniously with wooden and stone structures.

For example, the site Cavender Diary presented a project for a luxurious room in a rustic style. The interior was rich in details and was complemented by chic black and red accents in the form of a bedspread, carpet and pillows.

Country-style bedroom for a luxury chalet

As noted above, this style is great for decorating a chalet. And is it really possible to imagine a house built or finished with the use of plastic and other modern materials based on hydrocarbon compounds, among the majestic and beautiful mountains?

The delightful ski chalet Chalet le Petit Chateau in Courchevel is an example of the harmonious interaction of architectural forms with the environment. Its beige and white interiors are a continuation of the picturesque snow-capped peaks, while the light aroma and the unique pattern of light wood provide tired owners with the cosiness and tranquility they need.

As you can see, the designers have added blue and blue accents to the rooms, which probably symbolize the deep sky or crystal clear and even ringing air.

And now you are invited to see the luxury bedroom version of the Swiss chalet Chalet Zermatt Peak. What distinguishes it from previous projects is the richness of textures and materials used, stunning panoramic glazing and a sense of superiority and success radiated by almost every object.

Delightful simplicity

Luxurious interiors do not have to be full of spectacular and noticeable details. After all, true beauty is usually not catchy. An example of this is the beautiful design of the bedroom in Chalet Maria, located in Courchevel.

At first glance, this room is unremarkable: plenty of wood, comfortable furniture, natural fabrics. But take a closer look. The wardrobe and shelves at the head of the bed can be called a masterpiece of carpentry art. Carved doors, intricate arches have become a delicate decoration of the room. Aren't three types of pillowcases a cause for admiration?

Rustic elements for modern bedrooms

You can keep the splendor of the country in a modern interior. In this case, in the design of the room, it will be possible to note the features of both directions, the symbiosis of which, as a rule, gives amazing results, forcing you to take a fresh look at the possibilities of design.

Luxurious layouts, clear lines, modern furniture will be favorably emphasized against the background of wooden walls and ceilings, adding to the charm of natural beauty and home comfort.

Take a look at the stunning bedroom at Chalet Grande Cerf, where modern minimalism and rustic style merge into a harmonious whole. The indisputable advantage of this design is the possibility of modifying it: repainting the designs, you will get a charming Provence, cladding with glossy panels, you can aim at high-tech.

Country for non-standard children's rooms

It is generally accepted that a children's room should be spacious, bright and contain a rich color scheme. In every little individual there is a strong spirit of a tireless explorer, dreamer and visionary.

Remember that period when you were little. Surely, you built a kind of huts under the dining table, loved to climb trees and attics. So why not try to embody such ideas in the design of the nursery? And the same country will help in this.

A similar project was realized under the roof of the restored old chalet Chalet Bibendum. Wooden structures, exposed beams, a glass end and skylights create a unique atmosphere of adventure.

Luxurious views from above, adorable décor with mottled calf pillows and plush bedspreads will delight your children. And it is unlikely that in the next few years they will want to part with this uncomplicated, but nice room.

Design Associates Interiors' next beautiful contemporary bedroom invites you into a fairy forest. Fascinating details in the form of original legs and headboards made of birch trunks and branches, a stunning wall resembling a thick thicket and softly illuminated by a charming lamp, have formed the image of a cozy house for forest dwellers, whose role, of course, will be played by small family members. At the same time, the room did not lose its functionality and did not look frivolous.

The nursery designed by Metropole Architects for the SGNW House winter residence in South Africa is also delightful. Of course, this ethnic style cannot be called exclusively rustic, but we can say that this is its adapted version for the proposed conditions.

Every detail in this room attracts attention. First of all, the wall lined with saw cuts of trees and which has become an undoubted decoration of the house admires. It is impossible not to note the luxurious palette in the design: various shades of blue are present on the walls, and in the patterned carpet, and the colors of the striped pillows, and amazing gradient-colored blankets; appetizing peach light spills over the ceiling in the evening, while beige-brown hues act as the main backdrop for this splendor.

The review is completed by a room equipped under the attic of the Chalet Cyanella in Megeve (French Alps) and designed for four children. In addition to the undeniable advantages of rustic style, here you can get new ideas on how to decorate the interior in the bedroom.

In particular, it is worth noting the competent use of space: despite the inconvenient variable height of the floor, the designers managed to design the furniture in such a way that it began to repeat the slope with its configurations.

See how the bunk bed transitions seamlessly into regular sleeping quarters. And even the beams, which usually create additional difficulties for the design, have been used, they have become the basis for fixing lamps. The authors of this amazing room are architects from Bo Design, who tried to find a compromise between ease and luxury of modern life.

To feel this atmosphere again, you don't have to go to the countryside, just make a rustic-style bedroom. In order for you to get an unusual interior, you need to follow a few rules:

Natural materials
