26 Best Window Treatments for the Bedroom
LeClair Decor
No room feels fully finished without window treatments. Sure, bare windows are a gorgeous look, but if the lighting situation in your bedroom isn’t precisely perfect, at least a few window treatments are in order.
When dressing up your windows, you have a few options to choose from: blinds, curtains, and drapes. Contrary to popular belief, curtains and drapes are not the same thing, and each serve a different purpose. Blinds are great for selectively blocking light from your space while maintaining the crisp silhouettes of your windows. Curtains, rather, offer a light amount of light blocking and diffusion. And drapes, which tend to be very opaque, can be a great way to make your space feel darker, cozier, and perhaps even hotel-worthy.
Of course, all three of these options can—and often do—double as décor accents, making your space feel more dynamic while helping you get your lighting situation just right. And to help you figure out exactly how to design your space, we’ve rounded up some seriously pretty bedroom window treatment ideas for you to get inspiration from.

Before you do anything, take a look at your space. Where is light coming in? And what kind of light are you working with? If sunlight streams through your bedroom window and onto your face every morning, you might need some light-blocking drapes.
If the sun rises on the other side of your home, however, you could opt for sheer curtains—or no window treatments at all. Start by understanding how light works in your space, and then shop for the combination of curtains, drapes, and blinds that perfectly suits your needs.

The color of your curtains is bound to become a prominent shade in your space, so put a little thought into your palette. You could match your curtains to your bedspread, your rug, or your throw pillows.
Or, you can opt for a neutral window treatment that pairs well with your walls for a timeless look. No matter how you decide, just be sure to choose a color you’ll love looking at—it’ll be the first thing you see when you wake up each morning.

Window treatments are a practical buy. But, that’s no reason not to have fun with them. Feel free to invest in a statement-making shade or a bold pattern in your window treatments.

Drapes and curtains aren’t the only way to dress up your windows. Blinds can offer a sleeker, more minimalist way to get the benefits of window treatments. And since Roman shades are rendered in fabric, they can feel just as luxurious as their drapier counterparts.

When many of us think about show-stopping window treatments, we imagine pretty prints and stunning colors. But, texture can be just as fun to play with. Blinds come in all kinds of different materials, and with enough digging, you’ll discover that curtains do, too.

Long curtains are incredibly popular, and it’s not hard to see why—they feel luxurious, elegant, and even palatial. But, shorter curtains can look just as lovely.
If you don’t mind taking a décor risk, consider giving shorter curtains a try. They’ll look especially great in minimalist, contemporary spaces where longer, more traditional options might look out of place.

Window treatments typically adorn windows, but they don’t have to. In fact, hanging drapes behind your bed can be an easy way to make your space feel cozier and more luxurious—even if there’s no window there.
While this approach is a favorite among bohemian decorators, it can just as easily skew sleek and contemporary. Just opt for opaque, neutral drapes, and let them run from ceiling to floor. You’ll have a hotel-worthy space in no time.

Curtains can be a great way to add contrast to a space, but they can just as easily help you cement a monochromatic palette. If you opted for an out-of-the-box wall color, consider choosing curtains that match.
Matching curtains will give your palette even more of a presence in your space. And if you’re ever in the mood for a change of pace, you can simply open up your curtains to expose your windows.

Glass doors are just as capable of letting light in as windows are—and they often deserve window treatments of their own. Snag a set of curtains that you can easily slide to the side, and opt for a curtain rod that’s wide enough to let you do that.

Mixing and matching patterns can be a great way to create a dynamic space, so take advantage of all the textiles in your space—including your window treatments. By opting for delicate patterns that fall within the same color scheme, you can craft a space that’s fun, eye-catching, and still veritably subtle.

Many of us choose window treatments that match a color that’s already present in our space. But, you can just as easily use yours to introduce a new color to your palette.
If you go this route, you can make your curtains as statement-making—or subtle—as you want them to be. Just remember that your curtains will become a pretty prominent accent piece.

Letting your drapes run from ceiling to floor is a very popular move—and it’s one that can create a real atmosphere of coziness in your space. And if you want to take this décor scheme to the next level, you can get your actual ceiling and floor involved, too.
Match your curtains to your ceiling, and make sure the rugs lining your floor match, too. This floor-to-ceiling palette will immediately set the tone every time you step into your space.

Many of us shy away from matchy-matchiness, but in the right context, it can be a whole lot of fun. Consider getting custom-upholstered throw pillows that match your chosen drapes—just keep the rest of your décor from feeling too uniform, and you should be good to go.

Curtain rods are a necessity, and when chosen thoughtfully, they can also double as décor. Invest in curtain rods that aesthetically suit your space, and if your windows are statement-making, consider buying curtain rods that match. It's important to pick curtain rods that play well with other accents in your space.

Sheer curtains may sound like an oxymoron. After all, aren’t curtains supposed to block out light? But the truth is, sometimes you don’t want them to. Sometimes, you are looking for a little light diffusion, and in these moments, sheer curtains really do the trick.

Oddly-shaped windows deserve just as much love as traditional ones. If you’re working with a bay window, consider investing in custom drapes that suit your space. Sure, this is bound to be a bit of a splurge—but the result is sure to be elegant, luxurious, and incredibly stunning.

Raw-hem curtains won’t suit every space. But, they will make a striking addition to rustic interiors—and maybe some industrial ones, too.
Remember that texture can be just as fun to play with as print and color. Consider which combination of those three elements your space needs, and spring for an option that offers just that.

There’s more than one way to match your curtains to the other accents in your space. If you have a bedspread that’s textured with tufted polka dots, you can pair it with a similarly tufted set of curtains. Or, you could pair it with a set of polka dot curtains, which create an interior that feels dynamic and cohesive.

You’ve heard of complementary colors, but you can achieve a similar effect with prints and patterns, too. Start by choosing a base pattern, and then choose a different pattern that’s similarly bold and colorful.
Be sure to pay attention to how large the print is—you want the pieces to have a similar visual weight. Seek out prints that look like fraternal twins, and rest assured knowing that if they look more like cousins, you can probably pull the design motif off.

Your curtains can add a contrasting color, texture, or pattern to the mix. But, they can also offer a contrasting aesthetic. So, if you’re cultivating a modern Victorian vibe—complete with an ornate bed frame and antique décor—opt for window treatments in a more contemporary print.
Contrasting window treatments make the other pieces in your space stand out even more. You can keep things feeling cohesive by adding another contemporary accent or two throughout the room.

Give your room a touch of hotel-worthy flair by investing in two layers of curtains. The inner layer closest to the window can be a little sheer, while the outer layer closest to the bedroom can be thicker and more opaque. This will allow you to customize your natural lighting situation—plus, it just feels luxurious.

Your curtains are just another accent piece, so they don’t have to match anything else in your bedroom. They could bring a new color into the mix—or even a new, bold pattern. Be sure your curtain selections have something in common with the other pieces in your space so the bold colors don’t feel too unwelcome.

Window treatments like curtains and blinds are essential in the bedroom to add privacy, make it easy to adjust the lighting, and help maintain a steady temperature. There are many different types of window treatments, however, and exploring the options can be confusing. Some curtains are sheer to offer privacy without filtering too much natural sunlight, while others are designed to be room-darkening for peaceful, uninterrupted sleep. In addition to popular styles of curtains and drapes, there are several ways to cover your bedroom windows with shades, blinds, shutters, and more—and even stylish combinations that offer function and fashion at the same time.
Below, we'll break down 9 different types of bedroom window treatments to shade your space and help you decide what's best for your home.

Curtains
Ali Harper / Stocksy
- Best for: Lightweight window coverings that can be customized and tied back easily
Curtains are one of the most common types of window treatment used in homes. They are typically made of lighter weight fabric than drapes and hang from a curtain rod. Curtains are usually sold in packages containing two panels, and some have rings that attach to the rod. Rods can be installed anywhere from just above the window frame to a few inches below the ceiling line.
Curtains are especially popular in the kitchen, although they are also frequently found in the bedroom. Curtains are available in many different styles, colors, and patterns, making them an easy way to add a shot of color and pattern to your room. These options are often cheaper (but less durable) than drapes, which are made with heavier materials.
Since curtains are customizable for many different lengths to fit basic window measurements, there are various ways to hang them and tie back the panels. Some methods include puddling the curtain panel on the floor, basic right or left tie-back, and cascading.
Tip
When hanging curtains, aim to install the rods at least four inches higher than the top of the window frame. This simple design trick helps make your windows appear taller while creating visual interest.

Drapes
Jodie Johnson Photography / Stocksy
- Best for: Formal settings and temperature control
Window drapes are similar to curtains—sold as panels of fabric with many different lengths, colors, and patterns—but are normally made of heavier fabric, lined, pleated, and hung on a traverse rod with a string or rod pull so they can be easily opened and closed. Drapes are more formal than curtains and are used in many rooms of the house, including the primary bedroom, living room, and dining room. While drapes may often be more expensive than curtains, they are especially durable over time.
If you're having trouble sleeping because your room is too light, blackout drapes—which have a heavy lining to block out all light—are a great solution. These drapes not only keep out daylight but also block cold drafts or heat from leaking through the windows.
About This Term: Primary Bedroom
Many real estate associations, including the National Association of Home Builders, have classified the term "Master Bedroom" as discriminatory. "Primary Bedroom" is the name now widely used among the real estate community and better reflects the purpose of the room.

Sheers
Leah Flores / Stocksy
- Best for: Layering with curtains or shades
Sheers are lightweight curtains made from sheer fabric that allow light to enter the room. They add a dose of dainty charm to a bedroom but don't provide privacy or block out light, so they are typically layered over blinds and shades or under curtains.
Sheers are a nice choice for a small bedroom, as their gauziness gives the room an open, airy feel. They are especially popular in cottage, coastal, and country designs. Because sheers are made with lightweight, delicate fabrics, they are not as durable as curtains (and usually have similar prices).

Shades
Sidekix Media / Unsplash
- Best for: Design versatility and ease of use
A window shade is a length of fabric or similar material which is cut to the width of the window, then attached to a rod or frame that allows the shade to be lifted up and down with a pulley or roller system. Shades are one of the most popular types of window treatment throughout the home, thanks to their nearly endless range of styles, colors, and patterns, and also because they work well with just about any decorating style.
There are many varieties of shades, including Roman shades, bamboo, cellular (translucent), pleated (shown here), solar, motorized, balloon, and roller (the most basic type).
Shades can vary in price and durability based on their material and system of lifting. Motorized shades are available for high-end, luxury designs, while many types of Roman and bamboo shades are long-lasting and suitable for lower budgets. Blackout shades are also a popular choice for blocking out sunlight in bedrooms.

Blinds
Isaac Martin / Unsplash
- Best for: Privacy and blocking sunlight
Blinds have slats or louvers that can be tilted open and closed by cords running up and down the length, which can also be lifted or lowered completely to allow sunlight in. Blinds are simple, modern window treatments that are wonderful for bedrooms because they add privacy and do a good job of blocking out sunlight. These window treatments are generally made from hard materials such as wood, metal, or vinyl.
Blinds are hung horizontally with an inside mount over smaller windows, or vertically over a sliding glass door or very large window. There are many different styles and colors of blinds to suit various budgets, but higher quality blinds are more durable and often have moderate to high price points.

Shutters
Spacejoy / Unsplash
- Best for: Durable materials with a natural style
Shutters are a type of old-style window treatment that are fitted within the window frame with hinges that allow them to swing open and closed. They also have small louvers that can be open and shut with a lever to filter the light. Although not commonly used in the bedroom, do look wonderful in a coastal, cottage, country, or rustic room.
Shutters make a great option for a durable, long-lasting window treatment, and typically cost more than blinds or shades. They are usually made from painted or natural wood, although faux wood is another option. You'll find shutters in a wide range of colors, although white and natural wood tones are the most popular.

Valances
Neonbrand / Unsplash
- Best for: Decorative treatments in casual styles
Valances are decorative top treatments used with drapes, curtains, shades, or blinds to conceal the mounting hardware and also add a touch of color or extra pizzazz. Valances are swaths of fabric draped around the top of a window frame. There are many styles, including pleated, arched, gathered or flat, straight or shaped, and they can be mounted on dust boards, poles, or rods.
Valances can create a dramatic effect in both casual and formal rooms, such as primary bedrooms, parlors, kitchens, or dining rooms. Valances are not typically moved often, so even sheer options can be durable over time. They also tend to be cheaper in cost than curtains or blinds because they do not require much material.

Swags and Cascades
Fotosearch / Getty Images
- Best for: Decorative treatments in formal styles
Swags and cascades are a form of valance, and these popular top treatments are layered over another window treatment to provide privacy and block light. Both varieties offer a touch of dramatic elegance to a room.
Swags are typically draped over a horizontal rod in folds. They might match the underlying window treatment, or more often, add a contrasting dose of color or pattern to enliven the room. Swags can cost considerably less than cascades and are customizable to various shapes.
Cascades are lengths of attached fabric that either drape down the sides of the window in a zigzag-styled fabric or puddle across the top of the window. They can be used underneath or over swags, curtains, or shades. Cascades are high-end window treatments that are typically reserved for elegant spaces.

Cornices
Neonbrand / Unsplash
- Best for: Hiding mounting hardware in a structured style
Cornices are formal window treatments that are typically made of wood or similar hard materials. A cornice is shaped like a box and fitted over the top of the window frame to hide the mounting hardware for the underlying window treatment. The cornice's wood might be left natural, painted, covered with fabric, padded for extra texture, or even covered with wallpaper.
The bottom of a cornice can be shaped and trimmed in many different ways, and some homeowners opt to have their cornices custom-made to match the material of their furniture. Cornices are more durable than other types of window treatments thanks to their sturdy design, and they typically have a higher price range (especially when custom-made).
Choosing a Bedroom Window Treatment
Always remember to measure your windows before purchasing coverings. When it comes to choosing the best window treatments for your home, consider functional factors. Most importantly, decide how much light you prefer in the room. Blackout curtains and shades will block all light, while blinds, curtains, and sheers can allow various amounts of sunlight through depending on their material.
If your window treatments will be moved often (lifted up and down or pulled shut), it's also best to choose durable options. Thankfully, most types of window treatments come in various levels of quality. For rooms that are best suited to blinds, for example, it's possible to use wood or metal blinds that won't deteriorate when used regularly. On the other hand, curtains and drapes can both be long-lasting when made with hardy materials.
Consider your bedroom's decorating style, too, when deciding what type of window treatment will complement the decor. Heavy drapes might not suit a cottage style as well as sheers, shutters, or curtains, while Roman shades, drapes, and swags complement a traditional style.

Closer to nature
Love for natural wood cannot be eradicated by progress. That is why, having decided to order new windows, we, of course, dream of wooden frames. In addition, wood gives more opportunities for creativity than plastic: it is easier to create non-standard frames in size and shape from it. After all, a stained-glass window in the spirit of Art Nouveau or a Gothic plastic binding will look simply comical. The most common types of wood for the manufacture of windows are pine, larch and oak (and not an array, but a glued laminated timber has proven itself best of all). Rarer and more expensive options are cedar, beech and mahogany frames. But despite the fact that modern methods of processing and coloring wood make traditional frames more resistant to weather tests and temperature changes, this material is still very capricious. Wood, like all living things, ages over time, and if you do not periodically update the varnish or paint coating, it also begins to absorb moisture strongly. A layer of varnish on wooden windows is not only a decoration, but also a protection of the frame and sashes from bad weather and sunlight. Even the most modern coatings protect windows from rain and heat for only a few years. So for south-facing windows or a busy highway, wooden frames are not the best choice. True, now this problem can be dealt with: decorative profiles made of plastic or aluminum are used to protect frames and sashes from atmospheric influences and street burning. They close the tree from the side of the street, prolonging the life and “health” of the window for decades. A separate story, if the frame is made of poorly dried and not treated with antiseptic wood: at best, it will lead, and at worst, you will have to change the entire window due to a fungus that has grown on it.

Give me metal!
It's not for nothing that aircraft designers love aluminum so much: it is strong and light, and can withstand any weather whims well. In addition, it gets dirty more slowly than plastic, and allows you to make windows of any size and install them in openings of the most complex configurations. And the choice of opening methods for aluminum frames is greater than that of plastic or wood. Sashes are not only deaf, rotary and folding, but also sliding and folding. Plus - aluminum is not afraid of fire. Even the lack of “metal” windows that was felt before - high thermal conductivity (due to which a few years ago aluminum frames froze through) - has now been successfully eliminated. Aluminum profiles are insulated by connecting the outer and inner shells with a special thermal insert. Having solved the problem of physical cold, the designers also began to get rid of the aesthetic “cold”. For opponents of hi-tech, aluminum windows are produced, finished with wooden lining on the inside. By the way, the aluminum profile is easy to paint in any color according to the RAL scale.

Fantastic plastic!
By far the most common are windows with plastic frames. But affordable price is not their only advantage. They are durable, keep heat well and, unlike wood, do not require special care. In addition, contrary to the mass idea of the only possible “white frames”, plastic windows can look like anything. Profiles are painted in different colors and laminated, imitating the texture of any tree: for example, you can make “wenge veneer” on the outside, and beat Provencal blue on the inside. By the way, the surface covered with colored acrylic not only becomes more beautiful, but also acquires additional resistance to bad weather, scratches and dirt. And the best part is that the plastic under a layer of colored acrylic does not suffer so much from the sun, reflecting its rays well. The “heat” of a plastic window directly depends on the quality of the double-glazed windows: the number of chambers, the distance between the glasses, the presence of special energy-saving glasses, the filling of the chambers with an inert gas - argon, krypton, xenon - which also enhances sound insulation. The only controversial point with regard to plastic windows is a high degree of tightness. On the one hand, this is an undoubted advantage, because during the winter cold, precious heat does not leave the apartment. But on the other hand, it is a clear obstacle to natural ventilation. By the way, this is not only a problem of plastic windows.

Attention, air!
High tightness, to which all modern windows are oriented, is, of course, a good thing. But let's not forget that, while keeping the heat in the house, they at the same time prevent the outlet of the exhaust air to the street, and this is already fraught with problems with the home microclimate. Remember, is it pleasant to breathe air dried by batteries all winter? Simple ventilation (when the window sash is opened) does not always save the situation: do you want to patiently wait for the influx of freshness in a twenty-degree frost? What if there is a highway nearby? Therefore, when ordering new windows, it is worth supplementing their design with a small but very useful detail - a built-in ventilation valve. It guarantees a dosed and regular flow of outdoor air into the rooms and back.

Right under the roof
The architect Francois Mansart, who came up with the idea of using attics as inexpensive housing for students, hardly suspected that people would pay several times more for the pleasure of living under the very roof than for standard apartments. Modern attics with the help of windows have turned from dark and stuffy closets with sloping blank walls into elite housing. In addition, the frames can be easily rotated 180°, simplifying the tedious process of washing windows. But aesthetically pleasing skylights have their own characteristics. Due to the fact that they are mounted in the roof slope under a certain slope, the window design is subject to serious climatic and mechanical loads. In addition to the usual street tortures of cold and heat, he has to endure torrents of water and "avalanches" of snow. Therefore, in almost all cases, a tree is used for the frame of skylights, and not an array, but a type-setting glued beam. It is more resistant to changes in temperature and humidity, and it is protected from bad weather by an antiseptic and several layers of varnish. For the sake of even greater reliability, the wooden parts of the frame are protected from the outside with metal plates. An open roof window "ventilates" better than usual - the flow of warm air from the room passes over the open sash, and fresh air at this time "flows" under it. In winter, they use a slotted valve that opens and closes air exchange. The only drawback of skylights is their binding to radiators. To prevent condensation on the window glass, experts strongly recommend installing the battery directly under the window.

Without noise
It's not the frames that are to blame for the noise penetrating from the street, but the double-glazed windows. They are responsible for decent sound insulation. Therefore, it will not be superfluous to take an interest in their design. It is clear that the more cameras, the less noise will enter your rooms. But there is a little trick here: with an equal profile width (for example, 45 mm), a two-chamber window will “make noise” just like a single-chamber one. So, when increasing the number of glasses, do not forget to increase the depth of the window. And in the case of a particularly “loud” road under the windows, order double-glazed windows with glasses of different thicknesses located at different distances from each other. Due to this "asymmetry", the sounds of the street will be isolated most effectively.

DIY
Window cleaning is a nightmare for most housewives. Someone is afraid of heights, someone hardly reaches the far edges of the deaf sashes. Let's rejoice, gentlemen! To make our life easier, they now began to make “independent” windows that are cleaned without human help. A pyrolytic coating is applied to their glass, which activates the process of decomposition of organic contaminants under the action of the sun. The self-cleaning process takes place in daylight (regardless of the weather), and most importantly, does not require our participation!

Complete set
Like a real fashionista, a modern window has a lot of accessories for going out. Blinds, roller shutters, outdoor awnings protecting from the heat of the players are just a small part of the useful and pleasant additions. For lovers of gadgets, windows are equipped with all sorts of electronic “things” (automatic ventilation systems, smoke and burglary sensors). Only it is better to take care of their purchase in advance, when ordering the window itself. Buying a mosquito net or blackout curtains separately will be more expensive.

Corner Bedrooms: 110+ (Photos) Filled Interiors
To ergonomically decorate your corner bedroom you will need patience, faith in victory and our advice. Corners are those lonely spaces in our homes that make us feel overwhelmed by their worthlessness. The layout of the bedroom with all sorts of "niches" and corners is a big mystery for homeowners and really, what are they invented for? After all, they can be so difficult to fill or decorate to match the theme of the room. In order not to put up with the status quo and leave things as they are, change the appeal of your corner bedroom by adding a little embellishment or applying an innovative idea to these corners. So let's talk a little about how to apply smart ways to decorate corners. About everything in more detail later in the article.

Ergonomics of corner bedrooms
In order to successfully distribute interior items in a small corner bedroom, every detail must be taken into account. The wall color you choose and how you use that color plays an important role in creating a relaxing and inviting space . Several other components, such as furniture, accessories, and lighting, help to transform a small, uncomfortable bedroom into a spacious and comfortable one.
Utilizing every corner of space
Paint & Color
The colors you choose for your bedroom and how you use them determine whether the room feels spacious or cramped.
Tip
If you want to use a rich color on the walls, paint all the walls except for the ledges and the near-ceiling line.
Light but rich color in the bedroom
Light color covering the walls and ceiling makes the room more spacious and bright. It also gives the illusion of visual height. Never use a dark color in a corner room with a non-standard layout in combination with a light one in the corners and ceiling. This will emphasize the uneven layout and make it visually smaller.
Furniture
The size and arrangement of furniture in the bedroom has the biggest impact on how cramped or spacious you feel in it. The fewer pieces of furniture you have in the bedroom, the more the room will open. Smaller elements that will be used for several purposes guarantee maximum return.
The space in front of the window should not be wasted either. A small table, chair or bench placed under the window creates a cozy reading area.
Built-in bookcases or wall shelves will allow you to use the vertical space, but resist the urge to fill all the walls with something useful. Otherwise, you will again emphasize the corners, as well as the small size of the room.
Sloped ceiling room
Lighting fixtures
A corner room seems darker, so choose your lighting carefully.
Tip
Avoid heavy fabrics for window coverings because natural light is best here. Opt for lightweight or clear window coverings that allow for natural light.
Recessed or wall mounted lighting eliminates the need for lamps that can take up valuable space. Mirrors placed next to or in front of windows also reflect light and help brighten up the space.
Intense bright room lighting
Accessories
Having a bedroom full of accessories emphasizes the small size of the room, so instead of choosing a lot of small items, use a few larger ones. For example, instead of hanging a collage of pictures on the wall, hang one large piece of art.
Round rugs and tables visually round the room so as not to focus on the corners. Use accessories to bring color to the space. Bold colors in bedding, curtains, art and other elements add texture and expression to your bedroom's overall design while taking your eyes off the corner walls.
Emphasis on curtains and carpet

Any room that isn't a square or rectangle doesn't give you the symmetry to balance things out, and this can be a major problem even for professional interior decorators. The good news is that you can create beautiful interiors even in unusual rooms.
You can apply these general guidelines to decorate your bedroom with an unusual shape.
Create zones
Set all functions to be performed in the room. For the master bedroom, for example, this would be:
- sitting area;
- dressing room;
- area for watching TV or reading.
Then divide the space based on these needs. If the shape of the room is not comfortable, you may have to accept that not all features may work in every part of the room, for example, you may not be able to watch TV from your bed.
Dividing the bedroom into separate zones
If the room is large enough for separate rest and work space, arrange the furniture accordingly. You can place your computer desk and bookshelves in one part of the room and your TV in another. Corner spaces can be camouflaged by placing round furniture to take the focus off unnecessary corners. Consider placing easels, flower vases, or a chair in a corner as a decorative accent.
Imitation of symmetry
Do you have an uncomfortable window that does not allow you to do anything with space? By placing curtains along the entire length of the wall, from floor to ceiling, you can create the look of symmetrical windows and balance the space.
Equivalent asymmetry
In cases where counterfeiting symmetry is not possible, use the givenness that you have in your room to play with it by adding some pieces of furniture near the uncomfortable window, creating balance with a table and a different style lamp on the other side of the problematic one zones.
Window Space
Define and Bind Space
Actively use area rugs to design the space to delimit areas – even if they overlap on top of the main carpet. It helps to anchor and define the space and create zones.
Move the furniture away from the walls
For some reason, people want to align all the furniture around the perimeter of their room, but no designer would advise you to do this. On the contrary, for them it is like a bad form.
Tip
The best way to deal with irregular walls is to move furniture away from them and use their parts to create partitions and zones.
Use armchairs to set up a corner area as a separate area with a cozy seating alcove.
Free space around the bed
Focal point
A great idea to organize furniture and accessories around the main concept of the room. For example, let the bed dominate the decor in your bedroom. If the bedroom is combined with the living room, it can be a TV or a sofa. Then decorate the rest of the space around the focal point. By doing so, you focus on the essential aspects of life, which gives you the necessary orientation to place the rest of your furniture and accessories.
Let function dictate the decor
Use freestanding bookshelves and other tall furniture to act as effective room dividers. Dividing a room with an irregular shape is a great way to organize the flow of movement in a room.
For example, four-sided book stands can be accessed from all sides. This automatically reduces the room for sofas and armchairs against the walls. In addition to creating balance in an asymmetrical room, you can move freestanding furniture around at will and not be held back by a wall. It's also a good idea to place a rug in the center of the floor to draw attention to the middle of the room rather than the corners.
Floor lamp as decor
Keep decor consistent
Repetitive design elements on the interior make the room more balanced. It is important to have fitted window coverings. Furniture must be selected and wall finishes must also be coordinated. This means you can't have a themed wall in conflict with the overall design of the room unless you want that wall to be the focal point of the room.
Harmonious design elements
Choosing the right colors compensates for the irregular shape of the room.
Bright colors are best avoided as they will accentuate the shape of the room.
The right color can blend walls by keeping them in the background. If your walls are sloped, paint the slopes bright white to open up the room. And use complementary colors for the rest of the design elements. Remember the sequence we talked about above.
Bright white room
It is interesting to note that an unusually shaped room can become a highlight in a home if it is cleverly decorated. You can turn the oddity of a room to your advantage by interpreting it as a new design pattern, looking at the shape of the room as an advantage rather than an unappealing and inevitable fix.

Furnishing a corner bedroom with a built-in wardrobe is the best solution if space permits. Such a stylistic solution is suitable for the main bedroom, which combines a good rest and is functionally optimized.
Positioning a closet in an awkward corner can provide ample storage space and effectively use a forgotten area of the room. It would seem that it would be easier to place a wardrobe in a prepared niche, but it is still necessary that the task be solved in accordance with all needs and that the finished product fit organically into the space, look like a natural part of the room.
Turning the dead end of the bedroom into a functional area is accompanied by appropriate materials and finishing effects. One of the smartest solutions is a rack suitable for storing shoes: the shelves can be closed with doors or open if you need to store something else besides shoes. Use sliding doors to one side for easier access to the back areas of the closet.

Tip
For a stylish wardrobe, make a corner or flat insulated column cabinet that looks compact while still allowing you to store whatever you like.
These models are found in all furniture stores that sell sectional furniture. This solution is also for the corners between windows or doors so that you can use every meter of your room without blocking the light or disturbing the symmetry of the structure.
Sliding doors are the solution for those who want to keep their design clean and save even more space as they don't take up space when opened. You can install sliding doors on corner cabinets and create a neat storage unit when both doors meet in a corner.
There are many options for finishing effects on the doors:
- opaque;
- mirrored;
- tree;
- colored glass.
To maximize space, choose a floor-to-ceiling solution and add sections according to the size of the room.

Whether you're looking to organize your closet or add more space to a cramped area, there are plenty of options.

L-shaped

Build a hidden wardrobe right in the recess and add folding doors to free the bedroom from clutter and overcrowding. Such a closet will be designed to accommodate the most specific types of clothing and accessories.

Linear same color with walls
The unique quality of this wardrobe is that it uses a combination of the same color scheme with the walls, which visually expands the room and "hides" excessive angularity. Using a combination of natural wood and colored panels for added visual dimension is a designer's favorite trick these days. Build it straight up to the ceiling for a cohesive look and plenty of storage space.

Corner mirror all around
Install large mirror panels to reflect light throughout the room . This will minimize the impact of a large storage installation, and sliding doors will complement a good design. Bedroom corners have a lot of potential waiting to be discovered. With the right decor and a little creativity, you can easily accentuate your bedroom in the corners. Use these ideas to spark your imagination and find the basis for your own projects.
Corner bed
The bed is the focal point of your bedroom and should remain the center of attention no matter where it is placed. After all, even if she has a major role in the script, this does not mean that she must always be in the center symmetrically.
Corner beds used to be used quite often and today they are slowly starting to become popular again. They are used mainly because they save space and make use of a corner that would normally be barren and collect dust.

Double comfort
Redefine what a corner bed can be - if you don't need a double size, place two beds with headboards at the corner to create a feeling of more security. The biggest advantage, however, lies in children's bedrooms, where bunk beds are very space efficient, allowing the rest of the room to be organized as a play area for little loved ones.
An unusual solution for the whole family
Hot corner with a fireplace
If you don't want to remodel the whole room and move the bed to a corner, there are other ways to improve the corners. Leave the bed in the middle, because it looks so elegant and special there, becoming the heart of the room. Instead, think of a corner as a good spot for a fireplace: a modern glass-fronted model or even a classic stone fireplace. Consider using a stand-alone fireplace to save you the noise of tiresome repairs .
