There’s nothing quite as cozy as slipping into a cottage bedroom after a day spent in the countryside. The rustic and mismatched appeal combined with the warmth of a nearby fireplace and a familiar book on the nightstand has the power to instantly whisk away any lingering stress or anxiety that comes with modern living.
What is Cottage Decor Style?
Cottage decor is typically considered a combination of rustic and perfectly imperfect design aesthetics that most often include nature-inspired colors, lots of linens, and reclaimed and vintage wooden furniture with a focus on comfort and relaxation.
Looking for inspiration for your own cottage or country home? Here are some of our favorite cottage bedrooms that are just the right amount of rustic—and sure to make anyone fall in love with the charm of the countryside.

Classic Shiplap
@candlewoodcottage
Reclaimed wood or classic shiplap are some of the best alternatives to a simple drywall—especially at the cottage. Not only is it relatively cheap but it’ll give your bedroom that rustic appeal that few other materials can. This French country cottage achieves the charmingly rustic look through its creamy white coat but you can easily reclaim more rugged wood from old barns or fences as well.

Rattan and Wicker Details
COTTAGE + SEA
“Cottage inspired bedrooms are all about textures,” says Andre Kazimierski, CEO of Improovy. “Distressed wood, wicker items, quilts, and iron furnishings are just some uniquely textured items that you can combine together to bring character and dimension into the room.” This cottage bedroom in particular plays into varying rattan and wicker textures while keeping the color scheme neutral rather than busy.

In the Reclaimed Woods
@theoldredhouse
Cottage bedrooms are crafted to foster a sense of comfort—so keeping that in mind when picking out furniture is key to achieving the right feel to the space. This modern cottage-inspired bedroom features a vintage wooden headboard but the added layers of linens and soft velvet pillows add to the cozy feeling of the room.

It’s in the Architectural Details
@antocave
Smaller cottage bedrooms or attic rooms can pose challenges in dealing with unique architectural details—and finding the right positioning and storage solutions is key. This modern cottage bedroom worked out a solution by placing the bed away from the center and balancing it out with a matching monochromatic chair.

Shades of Blue
@andreaedavis
This coastal cottage offers just the right amount of whimsy through the deep blue shiplap walls and colorful nature-inspired bench. “When you’re decorating a bedroom in cottage style it’s easy to fall into the trap of going for an all-white or neutral look,” says Juan Sandiego, Founder of Boreal Abode. “Instead, adding a touch of vibrant color in unexpected places will bring joy to the bedroom without feeling overpowering.”

A Hint of Greenery
Ashley Montgomery Design
One of the most important style tips for creating a cottage inspired bedroom is to keep colors light and soft like this cabin- and Southwest-inspired space. You want to stick to your whites, off-whites, and light browns but the addition of plants (whether real plants or flora-inspired photography) will add appropriate pops of natural color.

Beam Me Up
@cobblestones_and_wells
Reclaimed wooden beams are one of the most obvious ways to pack a cottage-inspired punch—but there’s a reason the trend is so popular. Adding exposed beams to an otherwise contemporary space offers a subtle wink to a more rustic decor aesthetic without the need for plaid linens, a fireplace, or any other typical cottage decor statements.

Board and Batten
@cobblestones_and_wells
Board and batten and other similar wall treatments can be a great way to add texture and visual interest to a cottage bedroom without going straight for more traditional shiplap. The wood molding is traditionally painted in warm neutrals and soft jewel tones for a more sophisticated take on the traditional wall treatment.

Southwest Nest
@joshhemsley
This Southwest-inspired cottage bedroom might take cues from Georgia O’Keeffe and the New Mexico landscape but it’s just as warm and cozy thanks to the combination of cheery throw pillows, soft linens, and dimmed down statement lighting.

Nooks and Crannies
@dkleu
This tiny cottage bedroom plays into the coziness aspect of country living thanks to the custom-built bed that can double as a reading nook during the day. The sumptuous structure wraps into the window allowing for unobstructed views of nature from under the covers.

Distressed Doors
@candlewoodcottage
Distressed and reclaimed doors and windows are a simple and efficient way to foster a sense of rustic charm without eating too much into your budget. This charming country bedroom makes use of both doors and windows to add texture to the shiplap wall while framing out an oil painting for added visual interest.

By the Fire
@little_weavers_cottage
In terms of charming cottage bedrooms, nothing compares to a cozy built-in fireplace to warm the toes on a cool night. This rustic bedroom takes it one step further thanks to the original brick molding and retro-inspired wood stove.

Bedroom in the country: 82 interior design ideas from IVD.
ruBasic requirements for the design of a bedroom in the country: that it be pleasant, comfortable and, most importantly, inexpensive. Not many people are ready to spend money on decorating a country house, especially if you are not an active summer resident. We talk about techniques that will help to make a rest room stylish without special expenses.
How to decorate a country bedroom
1. Choose a simple style
2. Choose the right finish
3. Give old furniture a second chance
4. Take a closer look at the mass market
5. Do not fill the room with unnecessary items
6. Don't forget about the decor
If the building can't boast of its size and expensive exterior, you shouldn't make your dreams about high in the interior of the rooms come true. Small houses are decorated in a simple style - this is an axiom. Provence and classics contain many details and decor that can "clog" the overall picture. But it's not only that. A classic interior requires investment in materials. A stylized cheap bed often looks exactly at its cost. Painted MDF will not replace wood. The same goes for minimalism, by the way. Such an interior looks really impressive only with designer furniture. Therefore, it is better to choose a style that does not require the richness of the interior.

These include rustic, scandi, boho, partly modern style. Almost all of them are universal, easily mixed with each other and objects from another direction. In such a bedroom interior in a country house, you can implement simple ideas that will help make the room stylish.
There is nothing worse than cheap materials pretending to be expensive. And this applies to everything: decoration, furniture and decor. Therefore, if it is not possible to use natural materials such as wood, you should not look for an alternative in the form of plastic panels. Replace them with other materials suitable for a country house. For example, one of the most popular types of wall decoration for a country house is a cladding board. In the photo, the design of a bedroom in a country house with clapboard walls looks good both in color and in natural texture. Paint is better to choose light colors. A room filled with light looks more expensive, especially if the ceilings are low.
The floor can be finished with wood if the budget allows, or laminate - a viable alternative that adequately imitates natural wood. And in terms of price-quality ratio, laminate flooring has no equal. Porcelain stoneware or tiles in the design of a bedroom in a country house do not always look appropriate, and linoleum is often cheap. But it all depends on the specific material and manufacturer.
Ceiling decoration is simple. The most versatile option is matte white. Especially if it's low. High ceilings can be trimmed with beams or the same clapboard. It looks good on the attic floors.
You can update the design of furniture in the bedroom in the country with your own hands. Only the restoration should be neat and appropriate.
Tips for updating old furniture
- Decoupage, a popular transformation technique, doesn't always look modern. You need to have a rather subtle sense of style so that the corrected cabinet or table looks great and does not refer to “grandmother's Provence”.
- The classic update by staining is a more versatile and less risky move. Here you can only make a mistake with the color.
- Replacing handles seems like a trifle, although in fact they are able to transform even an obsolete chest of drawers. And no investment is required.
What you definitely shouldn't do is to cover the furniture with self-adhesive film with a wood effect. You are unlikely to get the expected result, and a shiny film will definitely catch your eye.

The interior design of a bedroom in a country house in a wooden house is very different from a city apartment in its functionality. In an apartment, they usually equip not only a recreation area, but a storage system, that is, a closet for things, a dressing table, if the area allows, and sometimes even a workplace. In a country house, there is practically no need for all this. The same cabinet can be easily replaced with a small chest of drawers. Of course, provided that you do not store old clothes and things here. It is better to get rid of this immediately, without warehousing.

There are a few simple tricks that can make a room look more expensive.
- Cozy posters, stylized vintage or oil painting - all this completes the interior. One large painting is enough to transform the room.
- Textiles of various textures are another feature of design spaces. In many photographs, the beds are covered with several bedspreads with different textures, pillows of different sizes lie on it. It looks especially impressive in monochrome.
- Matte black and gold accents can also set the right mood. The main thing is not to overdo it with glitter and metal, so as not to get the opposite effect.
- If there's space in the room, consider floor vases made of glass or ceramic. They look decorative even empty. A trendy technique is to put three to five sprigs of pampas grass or stabilized dry herbs and flowers in a vase.

Bedroom in the country: how to turn a dream into reality
It is simply impossible to have a good rest in the dacha, resembling the pantry of the Plyushkin family. For a country house to become a place for true "relaxation", you need golden hands, interesting ideas and time. And it’s better to start repairs from the bedroom ...
A bedroom in a country house often looks like a warehouse of vegetables and belongings, among which a sofa brought from the city, outdated, stands out as a bright spot. You can give the bedroom a new life by materializing your own interior fantasies, other people's ideas, or a combination of them. Alas, a bedroom in a country house faded from time to time rarely awakens creativity, so feel free to borrow ideas from outside. Your attention - 25 original interiors for a country bedroom.
Industrial style is characterized by simplicity of lines, maximum open space, brick walls. The degree of brutality in an industrial interior can be reduced with the help of cozy decor elements (the main thing is not to overdo it, Loft requires moderation in design).
Tired at work? Not enough freshness, lightness, spring in the soul and romance? A bedroom in green tones is what you need! Green color improves mood, has a positive effect on overall well-being and relieves psychological stress.
Blue and its shades in the interior always provide an atmosphere of calm and creativity. But given the strict restraint and even a certain “coldness” of the color, it is recommended to dilute the design with gold (or yellow) decor, for warmth and softness.
A cozy country house invariably attracts "lost" friends and relatives who are tired of the hustle and bustle of megacities. If a guest separate bedroom cannot be “plugged” into the common space of the house due to a shortage of square meters, such a compact option with zoning with curtains can also be provided.
Even the most severe teenage girls in this wonderful time are eager for romance. Delicate interior in pastel colors for a growing girl: you need to indulge in dreams in a stylish and cozy environment.
Modern "hut" for growing up Tom Sawyer. Emphasis on maximum comfort, stylish design and maximum free space.
Country furniture made of wooden pallets, pallets, boxes - an idea that is relevant not only in a limited budget, but also in a design that claims to be original. And even a bedside lamp can become part of a creative idea, if you approach the issue with imagination.
Loft style is relevant not only because of its popularity: the interiors in this style are simple, understandable, spectacular and affordable for almost any budget. With a shortage of finances, brickwork can be replaced with its imitation (however, it is easier and cheaper to create a similar interior in a brick house).
Natural, cozy and simple interior, which can be complemented with carved elements, paintings and skins, striped paths and bright rugs, massive rough furniture, embroidered textiles. Instead of bedside tables, it is recommended to use old chests and vintage suitcases.
Editor's note:
When choosing an interior style for your country estate, don't be afraid to use even the most incredible ideas. A big plus of the dacha is that in its space it is much easier to embody original design fantasies than in an apartment. Among the key rules for designing a country bedroom are: a careful choice of colors (pastel colors contribute to relaxation), the use of natural materials in decoration and bright accents, strict adherence to the rule “less is better” (do not overload or clutter up the room), creating high-quality lighting.
This original "no-obligation" style is chosen mainly by creative people. Bright and extraordinary, many-sided Boho: for self-expression of creativity, comfort.
High-tech style requires, above all, free space. Hi-tech, concise and strict, is ideal for active modern young people who prefer simplicity, restraint and practicality.
A bedroom with a French character allows you to turn even a small summer cottage into an exquisite "apartment" due to the lightness of colors, furniture and decor items.
Choosing the interior of a bedroom for boys of the 21st century, you can safely focus on the most fashionable trends. Including high-tech, which is much closer to modern growing up children than plush interiors in blue tones.
The loft bed is a universal design move that allows you to save space, please your growing daughter and create a stylish cozy interior. Light shades, wicker baskets and elegant furniture will add lightness to the bedroom.
Interior in the style of "shabby chic" is closest to romantic ladies, airy and elegant. Like Provence and Country, this "country" style is just perfect for a country house. The main accents are “fading” in furniture, decoration, decor items, fading in colors, voluminous chandeliers.
Editor's opinion:
Most often, Russian summer residents choose rustic rustic style for decorating a bedroom in a country house, which, for all its simplicity, allows you to create cozy and stylish interiors. The main piece of furniture in any bedroom is, as you know, the bed. And the advantage of the rustic style is that the classic wooden bed, wicker, forged, and rough “unhewn” fit into the rustic interior. You can always add coziness to a bedroom with the help of carved elements, artistic forging, chests, textiles with embroidery and lace, pillows.
In the list of styles used to decorate a country bedroom, Provence is consistently in the top five. The reason is the unique atmosphere of lightness and tranquility that this old French style provides. Pastel shades, wood in decoration, wicker and porcelain gizmos in decor, elegant paintings on the walls: Provence is noble, weightless and flawless.
"Shabby chic" suggests a "mix" of old and new, seasoned with elegance and nobility. The style is reflected not only in the feeling of "family" furniture, but also in bright bedspreads, floral ornaments, knitted things. Natural materials are used - from linen and worn leather to bleached wood.
Another French version of the country bedroom. The vintage style is not just an antique room. This is a refined and thoughtful retro interior, in which antiques, colors and decor elements play the main role. The key rule of a vintage bedroom is strict compliance with the chosen period of time (epoch).
Very popular rustic style in Europe and America. A distinctive feature of the interior is as if hastily knocked together furniture with traces of manual "clumsy" processing, antiques in the decor, pastel shades and floral patterns in textiles.
Splashing the sun into the attic bedroom of a country house is possible even in the absence of large windows. The yellow color in the interior (as the main one) is combined with white, and dark shades are exclusively in the form of accents.
Away with old bedside tables and junk boxes: we use square meters wisely and profitably! Such a cozy corner can also become an additional resting place after the labors of the righteous in the local area, and a sleeping place for a sudden guest.
With an acute shortage of free space, a pull-out bed sometimes becomes the only option for a bedroom in a small country house. However, the podium, in addition to the aesthetic role, should also play a functional one.
"Ethno" in the country interior is a recognizable design that reflects the identity of a particular people. The direction is represented by a wide "palette" of styles - from Japanese and Scandinavian to safari and Indian. The advantage of ethnic style is the ability to create an interior even with a limited budget, due to the decor.
Scandinavian style can turn even a summer resident who is absolutely far from creativity into a designer. The main thing in the northern interiors is muted colors, wooden furniture, warm blankets and fur skins, maintaining a balance in the decor, a maximum of natural materials.
One of the ethnic interior diversity styles is represented by African motifs in the decor. A bedroom with an African character can be created with wooden furniture, matting, bamboo blinds and ethnic elements.
