Princess Diana's favorite Hunter Boots are in this week's sales

(Image credit: Tim Graham Photo Library via Getty Images)

Whether you have been rewatching The Crown before the next season, or have been to see the hotly anticipated Spencer at the cinema, you will have spotted at least one pair of iconic Wellington boots. And if you are wondering what these ubiquitous boots are that the Royals wear to walk the grounds of Balmoral, the answer is Hunter Wellingtons.

They hold two Royal Warrants of Appointment to HM The Queen and the late Duke of Edinburgh. Put simply, if they are good enough for royalty, then they are good enough for the rest of us. But prestige often comes at a price so we were delighted to see some Hunter favorites on sale this week.

One such pair is a variant of Princess Diana's go to – the Original Tall Hunter.

Princess Diana was rarely out of her favorite Hunter wellies when she was in the countryside and Prince Charles has been wearing the same style of Hunter Argyll boots for decades.

Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall favors them whenever she's out and about and the Queen, while she doesn't wear branded Hunter boots, one assumes (remember that Royal Warrant) she wears a special one-off pair created just for her.

They might not be in her classic green, but for a 21st century take on a trad look, these teal Hunters are perfect for tackling inclement weather in style.

Hunter's iconic Wellington boots are brilliantly versatile, too as they're both perfect for winter's rainy days, as well as a muddy festival in the height of summer. Not only do they protect your feet against the elements but they come in a wide range of colors, shapes, patterns and styles.

Royal rubber boots from Hunter

Posted by HarrisTweed, 17 Apr 2014 • 01:19 pm No comments

Questions "What clothes do the representatives of the English royal family wear?", "What was Kate Middleton wearing today during a photo shoot in the rain on her estate?" excite not only the inhabitants of Great Britain, but, perhaps, the whole world. A humid climate has always been characteristic of the United Kingdom, and representatives of the aristocracy and high society have always wanted to be fashionable and elegant, regardless of the weather. Let's find out in more detail what English dandies and fashionistas were wearing, starting from 19th century.

History of the founding and development of Hunter Boot Ltd

In 1856, Henry Lee Norris, an American entrepreneur, purchased several buildings in Edinburgh known as Castle Silk Mills and hired four employees to start Britain's first production of wellington style rubber shoes ( in memory of the military boots of the Duke of Wellington at the Battle of Waterloo). The North British Rubber Company (later known as Hunter Boot Ltd) was founded. By 1875, the company already had 600 employees.

During the bleak days of the First World War, when issues of survival and peace on English soil became topical, royal style faded into the background, giving way to practicality - the company received a huge order from the government for shoes that would be suitable for being in flooded trenches. During World War II, the company produced shoes, tents, and gas masks. In the 50s. The English "Wellingtons" are again leaders on the already peaceful English land, diluting the slightly strict English style of dress with country motifs, and the style of London with bright colorful colors. Winter 1955 years saw the world two new models of orthopedic boots: Green Hunter and Royal Hunter.

In 1977, the English royal family authorized the official supply of shoes from Hunter Boot Ltd to the court of the Duke of Edinburgh, and in 1986 to the court of the Queen of Great Britain. In the same 80s. The English style icon of the time, Lady Style Princess Diana, had a photo shoot in dark marsh Wellington boots.

The beginning of the 21st century was marked by the anniversary of the company, the development of the US market and the opening of new stores, as well as the transfer of production facilities to cheaper China for the production of goods (due to the financial crisis of 2008), the head office itself moved to Edinburgh.

What are Hunter Boot Collections like today?

Today Hunter Boot is the brand of choice for those who like to work hard and relax in comfort regardless of the weather. The range is huge: children's, women's, men's shoes and clothing for outdoor activities and tourism, for farmers and members of the royal family - many choose Hunter Boot. Brightness and riot of colors, quality, are preferred not only by fashionable English clothing brands, but also by manufacturers of Hunter Boot shoes. And the older generation of the royal family continues to wear Hunter shoes, and the younger ones - in several photos you can see Kate Middleton wearing them in the iconic Hunter Boots in classic red or green.

Stars also choose Hunter Boot. In 2009, together with Jimmy Choo, a limited collection of stylish "wellingtons" was released, which "lit up" in the wardrobe of Madonna, Angelina Jolie, Kate Moss.

Spanish boots with a quality mark

Boots, and in particular rubber boots, can be said to be the most indispensable part of the Hunter's equipment. The first or second thing that a Hunter picks up after buying a weapon is, of course, boots. In other words, boots are the head of everything.

We at zapal.by offer rubber boots from the Spanish family factory Blimey. All models of these boots and shoes are produced only by hand and this is a feature of natural rubber shoes, the Master is involved in every technological operation to create boots. It should be noted that the boots are officially supplied to the Royal Court of Great Britain and, perhaps, Queen Elizabeth II herself wears the Blimey Royal model. This year the factory celebrated its twentieth anniversary. They put their soul into the boots, they will delight you.

How do we know that the boots we sell are the best? And like this:

1. the materials from which the boots are made

in the case of Blimey it is 100% natural rubber and neoprene. Natural rubber is an extremely durable and low maintenance material. All you need to know about him is that you need to wash your boots in plain water without the use of chemical detergents and store them in a dry place out of direct sunlight. In combination with natural rubber neoprene 4mm on the shaft and 5mm on the insole allows you to use boots at temperatures down to -10 degrees, providing complete waterproofing.

2. boot sole

Blimey uses an original self-cleaning pattern with a pronounced heel and anti-slip sipes. The sole is moderately rigid - elastic and at the same time bending, in such a foot will not quickly get tired. We sell only boots with an enlarged (volumetric) version of the last, in such models you will not feel the pressure of the walls. The sole has a multi-chamber structure using materials of different stiffness.

3. hardware

Blimey only uses the highest quality YKK hardware. The fasteners will last a long time and will not create inconvenience when worn.

4. attention to detail

all elements of the boots through which energy flows are reinforced, both structurally from the inside and aesthetically from the outside.

5. smell

boots have a slight smell of an expensive item made of natural material, you definitely won't have to air them on the terrace for a week before going out into the field. Surfaces inside are treated with a special antibacterial composition.

6. color and surface

hunting color, correct: delicate, muted marsh. The surface is pleasant to the touch, a mosaic of unopened bubbles.

7. packaging

the boots are wrapped in the same pleasant crispy paper at the factory as the Austrian Kahles scopes.

8. weight

natural rubber boots usually have a noticeable weight, but in the case of Blimey, the weight is not significant. On average, different models weigh about 1 kg (size 43). It is easy to walk in boots, it is also pleasant to sit in them on the tower.

9. price

Real things that last a long time and bring joy from use are not cheap. Everything that pleases always contains a particle of the Master's soul. Prices in Belarus are almost identical to those in Spain.

Blimey shoe boxes say "made for walking", which means it will be a pleasure to walk in them.
