If you want a more affordable Ring doorbell and one that doesn’t scrimp on the connected features of the more enhanced models, the standard Ring Video Doorbell (here, we’re specifically speaking about the 2020 model) remains a great option. Like its pricier brethren, it offers 1080p video capture, Wi-Fi connectivity, and Android and iOS app support.

The main drawback for this cheaper model sits with its battery, however. While it can optionally be wired into a wall to the mains, its wireless nature relies on its internal battery. Unlike other Ring products, it can’t be removed and replaced with a backup battery, meaning that between every 6 to 12 months, you’re going to have to remove the whole doorbell and bring it inside for a charge.

The main symptom of a doorbell malfunction in the apartment is the absence of a sound signal. However, checking the performance of devices is required even if the melody sounds “once again” or is noticeably quieter than the required volume level.

Causes of electric bell failure

  1. Incorrect installation. The most common mistake is an incorrect network connection.
  2. Faulty button or noise unit. To determine the breakdown of the first, you need to unfasten the wires from the pressure element with a screwdriver. Next, you need to connect them together. If there is a sound, then the button is really broken.
    To check the speaker, you will have to disconnect the top cover, remove the wires from the screw terminals and check the presence of current in them using a voltmeter or multimeter. If the instruments show an electrical signal, then the sound unit must be replaced.
  3. Natural wear of the attachment after years of use.
