Ninja foodi digital air fryer reviews
The Ninja Foodi Air Fryer Oven review
With continually updated technology and new brands hitting shelves all the time, air fryers continue to be one of the hottest kitchen gadgets on the market. No wonder there’s been a rash of new products that seek to combine air fry technology with the traditional appliances people already have in their kitchens.
The Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven is one such product. Building off the success of the existing Ninja Foodi, it combines an air fryer and toaster oven into one convenient package. But is it worth the investment? We tested the Ninja Foodi air fry oven to see if it could actually combine two pieces of equipment in one without sacrificing on the performance of either.
How does the Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven look and feel?

The Ninja Foodi oven is narrow and can be flipped up on its side for storage.
As soon as you take it out of the box, you get a sense that this countertop appliance is a high-quality product. Constructed of brushed stainless steel, it’s beautifully finished with rounded corners and has a digital control pad. It’s also wider and shorter than a typical toaster oven.
When cooled and not in use, the Foodi Air Fry Oven can be flipped up on one side to stand up at the back of the counter, an odd but convenient storage solution. Rather than a towel bar handle in the front, it has a small one off to the side that you use to open the door. While it’s unusual and takes a bit of time to get used to, this handle functions perfectly fine and helps make the oven more space efficient.
The Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven comes with an air fry basket, a cooking rack, a nonstick sheet pan, and a crumb tray that also seem sturdy and well made. They’re larger than the ones you typically find in a toaster oven, as the oven is so wide.
What can the Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven do?
Credit: Reviewed / Jackson Ruckar
This toaster can air fry, dehydrate, toast, bake, air broil, and keep food warm.
As the name implies, this Ninja countertop oven air fries. And just like a typical toaster oven, it also toasts and bakes. It also air roasts, air broils, dehydrates, and keeps food warm. Because it’s so short, however, it can’t hold a whole chicken like many toaster ovens in its price category.
The manufacturer encourages using the large sheet pan to make sheet pan dinners and includes a formula and some recipes for them.
If you’re looking for other multi-functional appliances that can slow cook, pressure cook, grill, and more, Ninja also offers the classic Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker and the Ninja Foodi Grill, both of which we've tested.
What we like
- It’s beautifully designed.
- The digital controls are easy to read and intuitive to navigate.
- It’s quiet.
- It’s an excellent toaster, and does a good job of baking a sheet pan dinner.
- To check on food, there’s an oven light.
- For storage, it easily can stand on its side.
- It cooks fast.
What we don’t like
- It’s expensive.
- It can’t roast a whole chicken.
- There could be more cooking guidelines for specific foods in the cookbook.
How does it perform?
Credit: Reviewed / Sharon Franke
The air fry setting left fries unevenly cooked.
Air frying
To be blunt, it’s not the best air fryer on the market, but it’s also far from the worst. The Digital Air Fry Oven air fries unevenly, and food prepared from scratch seemed baked, not fried. On the website the manufacturer claims it can air fry 4 pounds of food at once. While we could pile up that amount of fries in the air fry basket, the loaded basket couldn’t fit in the oven at the rack position recommended for air frying.
Toasting
Credit: Reviewed / Sharon Franke
The Ninja toasts very evenly, but there's no setting that allows for extremely light toast.
The Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven can accommodate nine slices of packaged bread without squishing them. And it can toast them fairly evenly, too. When used to toast two slices, it gives impressive results, browning exceptionally evenly. It does, however, toast to a golden-brown shade on both the light and medium settings, so it could be a disappointment if you like your toast only lightly browned. It has a special bagel toasting setting and it browns bagel halves very uniformly.
Air roasting
Credit: Reviewed / Sharon Franke
Our sheet pan dinners came out beautifully cooked.
Ninja recommends using their oven to air roast sheet pan dinners with a protein (like steak, chicken, or seafood), vegetables, and spices. After following the oven booklet’s recipe for Spicy Chicken, Sweet Potatoes & Broccoli, I was impressed with the result. All of the ingredients (about 3 pounds in total) came out lightly browned and tender in just 22 minutes and made a tasty sheet pan dinner for four. This technique does seem like a very good use for this appliance.
Baking
Credit: Reviewed / Sharon Franke
Biscuits browned evenly in this toaster.
You’re not going to be able to fit an entire loaf or Bundt pan in this Ninja, but you can use it to bake a cake or muffins in a shallow pan, or small items like cookies right on the sheet pan. Biscuits baked up just as well as from a full-size oven.
Air broiling
Chicken breasts came out juicy and browned on both sides in just 20 minutes. However, even when cooked well-done, steaks looked gray on the outside and in no way resembled broiled or grilled meat. So, while this oven is fast, it can’t consistently deliver the kind of searing you expect from broiling.
Dehydrating
Credit: Reviewed / Sharon Franke
The dehydrate setting works fine, but you can't fit enough to make it worthwhile.
Although its wide air fry basket holds more food than the ones in a typical air fryer (or the racks in a toaster oven), the Ninja is still only able to dry a small amount of food. After running the dehydrator for 10 hours, I was rewarded with a small bowl of banana chips. At least the machine kept quiet as it worked.
Keep Warm
The Ninja kept a small macaroni and cheese casserole at a safe serving temperature for a full two hours. As you would expect, however, the food was dried out by then. If you’re not going to serve food within a half hour or so, you are probably better off just cooling and reheating it.
Is the Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven easy to use and clean?
Credit: Reviewed / Jackson Ruckar
The Ninja has an easy-to-use digital interface, although it does smudge.
The digital control panel on the Ninja oven is well laid out and easy to read. Its interface centers around a knob that you turn to select the time and temperature (or number of slices and doneness) for each function, and it’s fairly intuitive to program.
We love the fact that the oven preheats automatically and the preheat time is just one minute, so it doesn’t add appreciably to the cooking time. During cooking, the product is quieter than most air fryers, and you can turn on an interior light to check on your food’s progress.
The sheet pan and the air fry basket can be cleaned in the dishwasher. In the standing position, the back opens, giving you access to the inside for cleaning.
The Ninja Foodi Air Fry Oven comes with a very thorough and easy-to-understand owner’s guide, as well as a booklet that contains recipes and cooking charts for air frying and dehydrating and a leaflet with instructions on how to build a sheet pan meal. It would be helpful if there were also charts to use as guidelines for baking, air roasting, and air-broiling.
Warranty
Ninja offers a one-year limited warranty on the Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven and a 60-day money back guarantee.
What owners say
On Amazon, the Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven has earned itself 4.7 stars from nearly 15,000 customers who praise its convenience, ease of cleaning, and fast cook times. They say it looks great on the counter, and stows pretty efficiently when not in use. Some detractors complain that the interior is not tall enough for their cooking needs.
Is the Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven worth it?
Credit: Reviewed / Jackson Ruckar
Although it's not an amazing air fryer, this is a great toaster oven.
Yes. If you're looking for an air fryer and a toaster oven, this product is definitely worth your consideration. It’s an excellent toaster and a fair air fryer. The only real drawbacks are that it has a large footprint on your countertop and can’t roast a whole chicken. If you have the counter space and are in the habit of buying rotisserie chickens at the supermarket, we say go for it.
We do recognize that it’s not an inexpensive appliance, but it costs equal to or less than the Breville and Cuisinart ovens that are its main competitors. If you decide to spring for it, definitely try out the sheet pan meals.

RELATED: Best Toaster Ovens of 2022
Our Verdict
Multi-function cooking devices often make sacrifices in the performance of at least one of their functions or at the very least cost considerably more than competing devices. Impressively, neither is the case with the Ninja Foodi Digital Oven, which combines a toaster oven, air fryer, and dehydrator functionality into a single kitchen appliance. In our baking and toasting tests, it proved to be one of the most capable toaster ovens on the market. It did similarly well in our air frying and dehydrating tests. To top it all off, it can fit a 13" pizza yet easily flips up on its end, barely taking up any space when not in use. Overall, it's hard to find anything to complain about with this device.

Our Analysis and Test Results
The Ninja Foodi Digital Oven manages to be a top-notch toaster oven, a great air fryer, and an effective food dehydrator, all while conveniently flipping on its side to take up an inconsequential amount of kitchen appliance counter space when not in use.
Performance Comparison
The Foodi earned high marks across the board and is an exceptional option.

Baking
All around, the Ninja Foodi Digital Oven served up delicious food in our baking tests. Everything from chicken to cookies to cakes was evenly cooked with a near-perfect texture.
The only thing to pay attention to when baking with the Ninja Foodi Digital Oven is its speed. In general, we found that it baked things faster than most ovens, meaning there's a decent chance that leaving cake or brownie mix in for the time specified on the box may lead to drier or slightly burnt results. However, by keeping an eye on the cake we made and taking it out when the outside got golden, we got better results from this countertop oven than we did from a fully-fledged conventional oven.
The Ninja Foodi Oven baked everything well in our tests. Jest be aware that it cooks faster than many other ovens.

Ease of Use
The Ninja Foodi Digital Oven is definitely designed with user-friendliness in mind, starting with the interface. Despite taking up very little space and thus contributing to the relatively minimalistic design of the device, it is quite clear and easy to navigate. A single knob allows for quick scrolling through the multitude of cooking presets, as well as temperature and time settings.
On top of the slick interface, the Ninja Foodi Digital Oven utilizes a simple crumb tray that is easy to remove and clean. The door handle is on the side of the oven, which allows for a clear and unobstructed view of its contents.
The interface is simple and well designed.

Perhaps most importantly, the Ninja Foodi Digital Oven has a foot with a hinge, so it can be easily folded up when not in use. Its folded configuration can fit underneath most cabinets and takes up barely more counter space than a traditional slot toaster. Once folded back down, it can easily accommodate a full-sized 13" pizza.
The Ninja Foodi Oven flips up both for convenient, space-saving storage and for easy cleaning access.

Temperature Accuracy
The Ninja Foodi Digital Oven was one of the most accurate ovens we tested. Occasionally when set to 350˚, it would run just a tad hot. Otherwise, it managed to stay almost exactly at the set temperature. It also heated much faster than most ovens, going from totally cold to 450˚ in under 7 minutes.
Frozen Food
The Ninja Foodi Digital Oven produced great results throughout our frozen food testing. Tater tots came out crispy and evenly cooked, lasagna came out fully cooked with just the right amount of moisture, and flatbreads came out perfectly crispy.
The one minor issue we ran into was with frozen pizza. When cooking a full-sized pizza, one side tended to come out a little darker than the other. This discrepancy was small enough not to affect our enjoyment of the pizza, but it was noticeable.
Toasting
The Ninja Foodi Digital Oven continued to excel in our toasting tests. It was able to get a very even browning on bread and managed to get the cut side of bagels crispy while leaving the backsides warm and gooey. If you prefer your bagels toasted on both sides, it can do that too.
The only slight imperfection we found in the Ninja Foodi Digital Oven's toasting performance was in its toast map. When we loaded the oven wall to wall with toast, the toast placed close to the door came out slightly lighter than the toast in the center. However, this problem is much worse in most other models we've tested.
The Ninja Foodi oven has great overall performance at a reasonable price, making it our top recommendation for most people.

Should You Buy the Ninja Foodi Digital Oven?
For those looking for a premium toaster oven, the Ninja Foodi Digital Oven is a fantastic choice. Not only does it bake superbly, but it can also function as an air fryer and dehydrator, and it flips onto its end for space-saving storage. The Ninja Foodi Digital Oven is priced on the higher end of the spectrum for toaster ovens. However, it performs better than the vast majority of ovens on the market;and it can effectively air fry and dehydrate as well. If you're willing to spend a bit extra for premium performance, we think the Ninja Foodi Digital Oven delivers everything you'd expect and then some.
What Other Toaster Oven Should You Consider?
For the price, it is hard to do better than the Ninja if versatility and quality cooking are your goals. If you plan to make primarily frozen foods, and your budget allows, the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro is similar in its versatility, but performed somewhat better in our frozen food cooking tests.

Ninja Foodi MAX Health Grill & Deep Fryer Review (AG551UK)
Want to cook over charcoal without having to fire up your barbecue? Or maybe you only like fried breakfast at the start of the day? Either way, the Ninja Foodi MAX AG551UK Healthy Grill Fryer will help you with this and more. The AG551UK can produce both healthy, grilled and fried foods with little to no oil, as well as bake, fry, dehydrate and reheat foods. You might even surprise yourself with how adventurous a cook you can become with such a nifty appliance, serving dishes such as grilled chicken and Cajun pepper skewers in just 10 minutes, or beef wellington in under 20 years, for example.
A time-saving countertop appliance, the AG551UK makes cooking quick and easy with technology that takes the guesswork out of cooking. Just insert food, press the desired function - baking, air frying, grilling, etc. - and the device will suggest the perfect cooking time at the touch of a button. For added convenience, the grill grate, fresh vegetable basket, pot and splash guard are dishwasher safe.
Ninja Foodi MAX Health Grill & Air Fryer AG551UK price and availability
As the home appliance collection continues to grow, Ninja is quickly becoming a household name. The Foodi MAX Health Grill & Air Fryer AG551UK joins Ninja's extensive portfolio of convenient and high-tech kitchen appliances that includes a range of blenders, slow cookers, food processors, deep fryers and grills.
The Ninja Foodi MAX AG551UK Healthy Grill and Fryer is the latest addition to the company's fryer collection, and unlike the Ninja Foodi AF300UK Dual Zone Fryer, which is also new, the former can be used as a health fryer and grill. . You will currently find the Ninja Foodi MAX Health Grill & Air Fryer AG551UK available on the Ninja website and John Lewis store for 179£.99 (about $240 / AU$325).
Design and functionality
- Six cooking functions
- Digital temperature probe included
- Easy to clean and ergonomic design The
AG551UK is the latest addition to the Ninja Combination Fryer & Grill collection, which also includes the previous two models, the Ninja Foodi Health AG301UK Grill & Air Fryer and the Ninja Foodi Health Grill & Air Fryer AG301UKDB. However, unlike the two existing models, the AG551UK features a more modern and streamlined style, and its control panel is discreetly hidden on the touch screen along the bottom edge of the device.
The Foodi MAX Health grill and fryer is relatively wide at 35.6 cm and 45 cm deep, so you'll need plenty of room to store it. At 8.1kg, it's quite heavy, so it's not something you want to slide in and out of your kitchen cabinet every time you want to use it. Like a countertop microwave, it will most likely become a permanent fixture on your countertop.
In the box you will find a digital temperature probe that will be useful when you are trying to cook meat with different characteristics - for example rare, medium or well done. A handy quick probe installation guide means you can start cooking right away. This sensor plugs into the side of the device and can be stored neatly on the side of the device when not in use.
This model also includes a grill plate which is great for grilling in less than 12 minutes. There is also a fresh vegetable basket and frying pot, which allow flexible use for air frying, roasting, roasting, reheating and dehydrating. A baking sheet is not included, so you can use your own, but the pot works great with food we've cooked in the appliance.
Because the Ninja's body is sleek, with no awkwardly angled handles, it's easy to keep clean. The protective cover, which takes care of most of the mess on the grill, can be easily removed and washed by hand or in the dishwasher.
Productivity and ease of use
Any decent fryer has to be able to handle crispy chips on the outside and soft chips in the middle - which is why we made it our first challenge with Ninja. The AG551UK can make frozen french fries, but we tried to make it from scratch by slicing the fries and drizzling some oil on them. The fryer requires preheating, which takes several minutes, so it is best to select the desired setting on the digital display before starting preparation; the machine will beep when it is ready to load the ingredients.
While the AG551UK comes with several presets, in our experience we found the suggested 20 minutes at 200 degrees on the Air Fry setting to be too long and high temperatures for the chips - they came out darker and crisper than we did. like. However, changing the temperature and time manually is easy, so keep in mind that you will have to resort to trial and error when trying to achieve the best results. We also recommend that you take a look at the chips halfway through cooking and give them a little shake to make sure the end result is not overcooked.
We have also used a Ninja Foodi MAX AG551UK Grill and Air Fryer to bake bread and cookies using dough made in a Ninja 3-in-1 Food Processor with Auto-iQ (LINK). We chose the "Bake" setting at 180 degrees for 15 minutes. After this time, the resulting bread was well-done, but had a rather pale color. Its texture was not as spongy as one would expect, but the taste was pleasant. The cookies were well baked, although we used manual adjustment to set the cook time to 8 minutes and the temperature to 180 degrees to ensure they weren't overcooked.
Next on the list was lamb steak. Inserting the meat probe was easy enough, after which we manually changed the settings from high to low, as well as choosing the cooking time and selected protein. By choosing a medium rarity, we achieved satisfactory results with the preset. To ensure a minimum amount of smoke when grilling, it is recommended to clean the splash guard after each use.

Ninja Foodi AF300UK Dual Zone Air Fryer Review
Looking for a cooking appliance to expand your existing range? Ninja's all-in-one offering might be just right for you. Providing us with a wide range of choices, the Foodi AF300UK dual zone deep fryer is the latest addition to Ninja's fast growing collection of kitchen appliances. Best known for its range of blenders and food processors that rival the likes of the Nutribullet in style and function, Ninja designs appliances "to fit the lifestyles of busy people around the world." In addition to blenders and food processors, the company offers an intuitive range of choppers, slow cookers and grills designed to quickly prepare great meals.
AF300UK is the latest addition to Ninja's range of dedicated fryers and multicookers with the smoothest surface and user-friendly features to date. It is unique in that it allows you to cook two separate dishes in record time. This is possible thanks to the timing mode, which does the hard work for you, ensuring that the food you put inside - for example, meat in one compartment and vegetables in another - were ready at the same time.
The Ninja Foodi AF300UK Dual Zone Deep Fryer offers all the health benefits of a decent deep fryer as it can cook up to 75 percent faster than a fan oven with little to no oil required. What's more, it can perform five more tasks, including maximum crispiness for making frozen foods such as nuggets and chips; roast for vegetables and meat; reheat, which is great for leftovers; dehydrated, for making vegetable chips; and bake whenever you feel like something sweet.

Design and Key Features
Ninja's Foodi AF300UK Dual Zone Fryer is unlike any other fryer we've tried. In addition to being able to cook healthy air-fried foods with virtually no oil, it has the unique advantage of being able to cook two separate foods at the same time and ensure they are ready to be served together.
Measuring h41.5 x D35 cm, this is a fairly large countertop unit, but its design is sleek, attractive and functional. A sophisticated black and chrome finish means this is a device you wouldn't mind laying on your work surface - as long as you have room for it.
Ergonomic in hand and luxuriously designed. It features two independent drawers that slide out easily, providing a total volume of 7.6 liters. Each compartment is deep enough to cook a decent amount of food - like 500g French fries, 1kg chicken or up to 12 muffins. Drawer handles are comfortable and easy to put in and take out.
Each compartment has a crispier plate to help brown food when air frying; It circulates air around the food, removing excess moisture and providing a crispy golden crust. They also prevent food from sticking to the base of each compartment. We found them easy to take out for easy cleaning by hand or in the dishwasher.
In addition to air frying, the unit can also max crisp, fry, reheat, dehydrate and bake, all of which are clearly marked on the digital control panel. The countdown timer also makes it easy to see how much time is left on each section.
Introducing
At 8.2 kg, lifting the Foodi AF300UK Dual Zone Fryer out of the box and placing it on the countertop is the hardest part of operating the machine. It features clearly labeled controls that light up in style as soon as you plug in and turn on the fixture.
The appliance comes with a quick start guide that provides recipes for inspiring meals you can cook inside, including chicken, pork, fish, vegetarian options and desserts. There are things on the list that you don't necessarily consider air frying - choose "Hunters BBQ Chicken and Chips" for "Asian Sweet and Sour Tofu and Vegetables".
To get a feel for the six-in-one, we used it to perform a number of tasks. First, we air-fried fresh pork sausages and frozen sweet potatoes. While each zone automatically suggests a set time and temperature, you can easily customize them to your liking. The manual suggests cooking sausages for about 9 minutes at 200 degrees and sweet potato fries for about 20 minutes at 190 degrees. Once you have programmed your zone, you can then click "Synchronize" to have the food finish cooking at the same time, and this is the feature that impressed us the most.
It is recommended to check the food in the middle of cooking by shaking it to make sure the food cooks evenly - but this almost negates all the USPs of such a machine, leaving you to be able to set it up and wait. for the end to work wonders. However, to achieve the ideal result, you need to experiment.
The Ninja Foodi AF300UK Dual Zone Fryer is a powerful machine. Our sausages are cooked in super fast time; in fact, after the suggested time, they were a bit overcooked. As mentioned, this will improve as you become familiar with the machine and cooking times, and soon you will be able to create flavorful dishes in a very short time.
We especially like the fact that you can choose different settings for each department. For example, meat can be baked on one side and baked on the other. We tested its dual functionality by roasting sliced zucchini in one compartment and reheating lamb patties in the other. We were quite pleased with the results.
We also tried making a batch of halloumi fries and were impressed with how well the potatoes hold their texture while cooking. We were able to enjoy crispy, melt-in-your-mouth halloumi fries in less than five minutes.
