Home spa center with a barrel, hammam and steam room in the Moscow region
Aromatic baths in an oak barrel, Turkish hammam and Russian steam room combined bath traditions from different countries in one house
Under the direction of designer Zhenya Zhdanova next to a country house in the Moscow region instead of a regular bath a luxury spa. To create a comfortable, but at the same time functional space, using modern spa facilities and technologies, was the main idea of the project. The family of the customers consists of great lovers of a healthy lifestyle, so the premises next to the house were immediately planned to be used as a bath complex with a swimming pool, but the size of the building made it possible to do much more. nine0005
The project turned out to be international: Russian, Turkish and Japanese baths are located on an area of more than 200 square meters. There is also a massage room, a relaxation area, a kitchenette, a bathroom and a storage room for bath accessories.
On project
place: Moscow Region, Russia
: 2013
Square: more than 200 sq.m
Dates: Construction and year to create an interior
Customer 010 : Family with two children
Project author: Zhenya Zhdanova

The atmosphere of the East, cozy and luxurious, set the vector for the whole project. The designer spent a lot of time creating carved interior elements. Only the filigree work of a team of wood carvers took about six months. In addition to wood, other natural and pleasant to the touch materials were used: stone, mosaic, textured tiles. Thanks to the variety of textures and materials, not only the body, but also the eye relaxes in the spa: all decorative elements fascinate and make you want to touch. nine0005
All panels on the walls, backs of benches and other carved elements of the interior were made to order according to the sketches of Zhenya herself. The patterns were inspired by travels in the eastern countries and Morocco.
Zhenya Zhdanova
In addition to the Russian sauna with a wood-burning stove, there is an oak barrel for cosmetic procedures in the center, the creation of which Zhenya was inspired by Japanese bath traditions and the ofuro bath.
Zhenya Zhdanova
In such a barrel you can comfortably sit together and enjoy the aromas of herbs and essential oils, or you can fill it with milk and have a rejuvenation session. nine0005
Zhenya Zhdanova
Marble is not only a beautiful decorative material, but also an excellent conductor of heat, making it ideal for spas.
Zhenya Zhdanova
For example, benches in the hammam, an island of relaxation with a pronounced oriental mood, are lined with marble. Turkish bathing traditions have a long history, but even today the hammam is considered not only a place of physical purification, but also a public space where you can meet friends and neighbors, as in Turkey the hammam is a common bath. nine0005
Zhenya Zhdanova
The kurna is also made of marble - a bowl for washing with ice water, and the walls of the hammam are lined with marble mosaics with traditional ornaments, laid out by hand according to the sketches of the author of the project.
Zhenya Zhdanova
“The modern Sonos acoustic system allows you to turn on different music in different areas of the center, including directly in the hammam,” says Zhenya.
Zhenya Zhdanova
To tickle your nerves and have a hardening session by jumping into a snowdrift from a Russian steam room - what can excite you more? In the summer, or after an oak barrel and a Turkish hammam, you can douse yourself with cold water from a large bucket installed in the shower area. It holds more than 10 liters of water. nine0005
Zhenya Zhdanova
You can also swim and enjoy underwater hydromassage in a five-meter pool with a waterfall.
Zhenya Zhdanova
At the end of a difficult week, you can visit the hot steam room. After delicious tea, heart-to-heart conversations at the oak table, it's time to go for a massage.
Zhenya Zhdanova
This room can be easily transformed into a relaxation area or a massage room, depending on your needs.
Zhenya Zhdanova

Mini-kitchen line (less than 2 sq. m.) includes a hob, extractor hood, dishwasher, sink and cupboard for storing dishes.
Here you can cook a light lunch or make tea, which will be nice to drink on the way from the hammam to the pool at the massive oak table located in the central area.
Zhenya Zhdanova
It is also a great place for a feast with friends. If the hosts decide to invite many guests to the spa party, there is enough space for everyone. nine0005
Zhenya Zhdanova
“The combination of various materials and textures made it possible to create a special atmosphere,” says Zhenya Zhdanova. “Opening a heavy door, the customer immediately finds himself in the realm of serenity, where the atmosphere of relaxation penetrates into every cell of the body through aromas, sounds and warm touches.”
Furniture: handmade, made to order according to the sketches of the author of the project; light: Feiss, Hinkley Lighting, Elstead Lighting, Quoizel

Then you definitely can not do without a spa! And it is not at all necessary to go somewhere, because you can equip it even at home. Spa in your home: a real Russian example nine0005
Do you want to create your own realm of pleasure, where you can forget about everything in the world and truly relax? Then you definitely can not do without a spa! And it is not at all necessary to go somewhere, because you can equip it even at home.
The customers are a Muscovite family with two children (a girl and a boy), all big fans of a healthy lifestyle in general and saunas and spas in particular. They see life outside the city as a means of recuperation after a hard week in the metropolis. That is why the idea was born to build not only a country house, but also to plan the construction of a spa center, moreover, as a separate building. Designer Zhenya Zhdanova brought this interesting idea to life, and this is what came of it.
Zhenya Zhdanova, designer, decorator
Creator of online interior boutique DivaDecor. Winner of the "Design Debut 2012" competition, finalist of the professional competition of architects, designers and decorators Pinwin 2013 and 2014. Published in many interior magazines, as well as online publications. Zhenya's interior design blog talks about her projects and interesting finds in the process. She believes that the interior must be unique and personal and is always looking for extraordinary solutions, fresh ideas and original objects. nine0005
divadecor.ru
Initially, this building was considered by customers only as a bathhouse with a pool. But in the process of working on the project, a better solution was born, including a space for rest and complete relaxation with an abundance of opportunities that the spa industry has to offer today. Moreover, the area of the building made it possible to accommodate various zones not only for relaxation, but also for beauty treatments. By the way, the construction of the building took about a year, and finishing work and decoration continued for about a year. nine0005
Zhenya Zhdanova, designer, decorator:
— The main direction of the interior of this spa center was set by the chic interiors of the East. Ornate patterns and ornaments, materials with a variety of textures, such as carvings, teak floors, mosaics and textured tiles - all of them make you hold your breath and just beckon you to touch yourself, and then look at them for a long time.
divadecor.ru
This in-home spa offers relaxation for all tastes. Adherents of calm relaxation can enjoy swimming in a five-meter pool with a waterfall and underwater hydromassage, or take a steam bath in the hammam, sitting on benches made of exquisite white marble. nine0005
Exotic lovers will appreciate the Japanese bath ofuro, consisting of an oak barrel for two. Well, where is the wide Russian soul without the legendary Russian bath, from where, right from the heat of a wood-burning stove, you can immediately go outside and jump into a snowdrift, or douse yourself with cold water from a bucket for dousing in the shower area!
The relaxation room, which becomes a massage area as needed, is decorated with exquisite textiles and a window with a unique design. Here you can relax during a massage from a spa therapist, inhaling the enchanting aromas of essential oils and enjoying pleasant music. Comfortable sofa Italian factory Mito 1964 and a wonderful carved panel on a golden wall are perfectly placed in the recreation area, where you can sit with a cup of delicious and fragrant tea.
In the main front area there are carved benches and an oak table. A small but very spacious kitchen with oak facades complements the existing harmony in this realm of relaxation.
Zhenya Zhdanova, designer, decorator:
— There are also a number of functional rooms where bath accessories are organized — towels, bathrobes, slippers, as well as everything necessary for spa rituals — brooms made of oak, birch and spruce, oils, creams , peelings, masks, aroma diffusers, candles. All engineering maintenance is carried out in the basement, where the pool equipment, ventilation and air conditioning systems, plumbing and cleaning equipment are located. nine0005
The basic patterns for the panel carvings were inspired by traditional Moroccan motifs. Oriental flavor in the carving, of course, gives aesthetic pleasure during the day, but at night, when the light penetrates the outside, the spectacle becomes even more incredible, exciting and truly magical.
Author's furniture and all carved details were made to order according to sketches Zhenya Zhdanova . A whole team of carvers worked on them for more than six months, but it was worth it. Huge ornamental panels, kitchen fronts, table support and bench legs look simply amazing, however, like many other things. Of course, the cost of hand carving is not a cheap pleasure, nevertheless, the budget is quite comparable with the cost of acquiring branded furniture at the prices of Moscow suppliers. nine0005
Noble finishes, attention to detail and an abundance of texture solutions complete this marvelous atmosphere, making it complete and conducive to absolute relaxation in complete detachment from worldly problems.
