A lot of daylight in the room is the main feature for which customers choose panoramic glazing. Most often, floor-to-ceiling windows are made in living rooms, dining rooms, verandas and terraces.

Types of panoramic windows

In order for such a design to be as convenient and efficient as possible, one opening should not be more than 6 meters and contain no more than 7 wings.
Blind glazing. A popular option in which none of the sections opens. Difficulties can arise during the cleaning phase, as special tools or cleaning services are required. The blind version of the glazing of private houses is suitable for any part of the building, except for entrance groups, such as access to the garden, veranda and terrace.
Sliding glazing. Perfect for decorating the entrance to the veranda, terrace, winter garden. This option is more reliable and will last longer than folding or sliding doors, since the load on the opening and closing fittings will be lower.
Advantages and disadvantages of panoramic glazing
As with any design solution, panoramic glazing in a private house has its pros and cons.
Benefits of panoramic glazing
Stylish look outside and inside the house. There will be more natural light than regular windows. The space will visually expand. The room itself is filled with air. There will also be an incredibly beautiful view without extra frames right into the floor.
The glasses themselves are made of high-strength material, so they are less prone to chips and scratches. It also provides high sound insulation.
Of the minuses, in addition to cost, it is worth noting the high thermal conductivity of glass in comparison with the wall. That is, windows give off a lot of heat, so you need to take care of two-three-chamber double-glazed windows with a warm profile and additional heating systems. Nevertheless, the cost of maintaining heat will be higher on average by 20-30%.
The room with panoramic windows is perfectly visible from the street. To prevent this from happening, blinds, curtains, and a special tinting film are used. Also, floor-to-ceiling windows seem unsafe, because the glass is easy to break. But modern methods make glass so strong that it can easily withstand.
Drawbacks
Of the minuses, it is worth noting the difficulty in care and washing. This will require professional equipment or call specialists.
No view will be presentable if the panoramic window is stained or dirty.
One of the problems with panoramic windows in cold regions is frost on the glass. To avoid this, use a thermal curtain, or heaters, convectors.
Another disadvantage is the abundance of ultraviolet radiation. So, on the south side, the furniture fades faster, because there will be a lot of sunlight. Special spraying or tinting on glass will help here.
Despite the disadvantages of panoramic windows, the advantages outweigh. If you correctly approach the design, selection of materials and installation, there will be no problems in operation.

All maximum dimensions for panoramic windows are specified in the standards:
