Decor Tips

A bedside lamp adds a touch of comfort to a room. You can use it as a night light in a dim setting or to read in bed. But first, you have to choose the right lamp. We have a few bedside lamp ideas to help you out.

1. Colorful Glass

Every room can use a splash of color, so choose a glass lamp in a tone that matches your throw pillows or a piece of artwork.

You can’t go wrong with a metallic base for a lamp.

3. Geometric Concrete

For something simple yet classic, consider a concrete-based lamp. Geometrics are an aesthetically-pleasing look.

4. Basic Wire Lamp

If you want a light that’s barely there, consider one that dangles the lightbulb from a single piece of metal that curves up from the base.

5. Modern and Black

A beautiful black lamp in a modern style will look amazing in just about every setting.

6. Intricate Wires

There’s nothing saying a lamp can’t be art. Look for a beautifully-created wire lamp to make a statement beside your bed.

7. Polished Smooth

A concrete lamp base will hold it in place, even if you’re on the clumsy side.

8. Matched Sets

There’s nothing better than pairing two identical lamps to set the mood.

9. Simplistic White

There’s something pure and innocent about white, and when the color is paired with a repetitive texture, you’ll find it is a beautiful combination.

10. Transparent Vase

Glass makes for a very nice lamp base, but why not take it a step further by going transparent?

11. Touch Lamps

There’s nothing worse than fumbling about in the dark trying to find the switch for your lamp. Choose one that can be turned on with a touch, and you have a winner.

12. Industrial Style

Anyone who enjoys steampunk or more industrial décor will appreciate an industrial lamp.

13. Delicate Designs

Sometimes you want a lamp that looks nice but stays in the background. Choose one with a light design on it, and you’ll find it blends in.

14. USB-Enabled

No room for a lamp and a phone charger in your outlet? No worries, just grab a lamp with a USB plug in it.

15. Wooden Designs

Why not choose a wooden lamp, if you dislike the ceramic and metal options available? It’s warm and friendly.

16. Golden Delight

Is there anything classier than a gold lamp? It’s the color of decadence, and you’ll benefit from having it right by the bed.

17. Vintage Style

Sometimes it’s helpful to have something familiar to enjoy in your room, and these vintage-style lamps are a perfect choice.

18. Go Textured

Texture can turn any lamp into a talking piece. Even if it’s just a simple one-color base, adding some texture makes it really perk up.

19. Elegant Marble

A marbled base on your lamp gives it that classic look that so many strive for.

20. Unique Shapes

If you are tired of the usual rounded options for lamps, take the time to look for something more interesting.

21. Abstract

Nothing forces lamps to be a standard shape. Go ahead and pick something unusual and unique.

22. Sharp Edges

Some lamps look deadly gorgeous, as if designed to be a weapon of aesthetic. For the industrial style-intensive, who doesn’t want that in their bedroom?

23. Antiques

Love the look of antique lamps? Find a replica and you’ll save money on the look.

24. Mix Your Colors

It’s fine if you can’t choose a single color. Try mixing them to find something truly unique.

25. Stripes Away

Stripes can give your lamp a fun, playful feel and are perfect for a bedroom.

26. Muted Colors

If you love colors but hate being blinded by loud, bright colors, consider using muted tones instead.

Choosing a lamp is more about what you love than what looks perfect. Let your gut decide.

Bedside tables: 101 photos - unusual, original bedside tables for the bedroom

A bedside table is one of the indispensable elements in the bedroom: no matter the footage of the room, we have to look for a place to put the phone at night and put a night lamp. A traditional pedestal - a drawer with curtains open or closed - can hardly diversify the interior. This collection contains unusual bedside tables, or rather, objects that, at times, do not even resemble a prototype, but please from a functional and aesthetic point of view.

For the most hypnotic effect of viewing this article, we advise you to click on the first photo and go to full screen mode. And then - flip through large pictures and enjoy our selection of interesting and spectacular bedside tables (or items that replace them). On some photos you will find green labels that contain additional information about the items used in this interior. Under the photos you can find information about the project and the techniques and materials used.

Vera Tarlovskaya Interiors

1. Solyanka
Bedside tables for the bedroom (pictured) are the finishing touch in the design of the room, and you don’t have to go to the interior store to get them. Firstly, they do not always have to be paired, and secondly, items that you already have at home can work effectively instead. For example, a wooden box and an old stool, which turned out to be quite appropriate in a modern bedroom.

Lago Design

2. Bet on geometry
Instead of a headboard and side tables, you can make one giant shelf. It will certainly fit lamps with books, family photos, a collection of rare cars and even a place for flowers (by the way, there will be a reason to plant greenery in the bedroom).

The New Design Project

3. Pure concrete
What about building blocks? For a small space, all means are good: on the one hand, we add blocks, on the other, we hang compact shelves.

4. Library night
First of all, the analogue of a bedside table should meet your needs: if you like to read before going to bed, replace the nightstand with a bookshelf.

Inna Shapovaliants

5. Sewing machine
To replace the bedside table with the underframe from the sewing machine is a top class work with retro accessories. A pair of such a self-sufficient item is not needed - on the other hand, a chair or pouffe will be enough.

Lisa Wolfe Design, Ltd

6. Vintage mix
Do you appreciate vintage accessories? It is not necessary to look for two identical cabinets in flea markets that fit in size. Replace them with any other cute pieces of furniture.

Marina Sarkisyan

7. High-low
For some reason, women always have more things than men. Even if we are talking about items that need to be placed in the bedside table. The logical conclusion: the cabinets should be of different heights. Higher for girls, lower for boys.

Cortney Bishop Design

8. Wide Field
Sometimes it makes sense to choose different sizes of cabinet tops, especially if you don't mind a light stylistic mix.

Elena Tirinnanzi Architetto

9. In contrast
Unpaired analogs of nightstands look good in minimalist Scandinavian bedrooms — for example, a worn grandmother's chair combined with a narrow cylinder cabinet.

10. In pleasant twilight
If you don't have the habit of reading in bed, and you don't really need a night light, it's wise to do without it. And instead of bedside tables, use any decor that is pleasing to the eye - even if only an old window frame. You can even hang something on such original bedside tables - ties, for example.

Archifacturing

11. Bottleneck
Can't fit two nightstands in a narrow bedroom? We'll get by with one, and as additional storage, you can mount the top shelf above the headboard.

ARCHI CONSULTING

12. Mix of textures
Do not deny yourself the pleasure of being closer to nature: if you managed to find only one stump, any object from the store can play the role of a second bedside table - for example, a table made of white metal, which complements well wood.

13. Spacious headboard
If the layout of the room leaves no choice, give up bedside tables and their analogues in favor of a structure above the headboard. This technique looks especially impressive on an accent wall.

stefano carniccio

14. Structural issue
The supporting pylon can also be disguised as part of the storage system, if you build it up to a false partition above the headboard.

Rachele Biancalani Studio

15. Clothes for the chair
Instead of a bedside table, a chair is also convenient because you can leave clothes on it - of course, if you are not a quivering tidy person who loves to put everything on the shelves.

Republic of Fritz Hansen フリッツ・ハンセン

16. Easy chairs
If there is a full-fledged chair next to the bed, you may not need a bedside table. The light can also be mounted on the wall, and the chairs standing nearby can be used for storage.

FENNOBED

17. Ladders
In the Scandinavian countries, ladders have long been used not only to climb onto mezzanines. Sometimes they effectively replace bedside tables in the bedroom interior.

18. Scandinavian comfort
A tall wicker basket works well with a ladder. It can be used to store linen if there is no room in the bathroom, and you can put decorative pillows on the cover at night. These original bedside tables will give your interior a rustic charm.

ZARA HOME

19. Two are better than one
If one bedside table is not enough for you, replace it with two, but on one side of the bed. It is not necessary to combine them in color and texture: the difference in materials brings dynamics to the interior.

Archifacturing

20. Ergonomic podium
And here's a scenario for those who think ahead storage systems: in a low podium under the bed, you can hide additional drawers. And leave the bedside table for things that you use really often.

Wanna-C

21. Suitcase mood
One trip to the flea market and the owners of the bedroom got several bedside accessories (pictured) that look much more effective than ordinary bedside tables.

22. Increasing the quantity
Even standard bedside tables look more interesting if there are a lot of them. In addition, their number opens the field for experiments with rearrangement - those that are lighter can be placed at least throughout the bedroom or grouped at the headboard.

Maike Piorr | Fotografie

23. On wheels
Another step towards quick repositioning is the bedside table on wheels. Which, by the way, can be decorated with a bright shade.

Markham Stagers

24. Favorite colors
Small bright tables also enliven the bedroom; to enhance the effect, paired items can be decorated in different ways - with lamps, vases or framed posters.

Louise de Miranda

25. Outstanding look
Even a standard model will sparkle with new, if you pay a little attention to the decor: for example, highlight the panels with a contrasting color.

apartmentjeanie

26. Unexpected combinations
An eccentric shade suits this carved bedside table: bright green complements the pattern at the head of the bed, while the black background works as a great base for experiments.

Tomás da Silva

27. Mini Shelf
If you only need a nightstand to put your phone next to you, and there is absolutely no room in the bedroom, mount a mini shelf on the wall that your phone charger can reach.

ÁBATON

28. For lovers of literature
Don't you raise your hand to throw away old magazines and albums? Turn them into handmade nightstands by stacking them next to your bed. The height and design of the bedside tables can be changed from time to time: add new ones or take out old numbers to reread.

Marc Rutenberg Homes

29. Desk
A functional idea for those who want to make the most of their bedroom space: replace one nightstand with a desk or dressing table.

Hovanskaya Olga

30. Part of the whole
Textured headboards are increasingly common in modern bedrooms, and hanging bedside tables become their logical continuation. In the project of Olga Khovanskaya, they are combined in color with the body of the bed.

Zhenya Zhdanova

31. Broken lines
In an irregularly shaped bedroom, it is important to use the space to the maximum: let a long console appear on one side, and a bright stool on the other, as in Zhenya Zhdanova's project.

JAMIE FALLA

32. Perfect combinations
Nothing superfluous: in this project, built-in nightstands continue the design of the bed and headboard, and even the bedside lamps seem to be rooted to the table top.

33. A breath of nature
Roughly worked wood required irregularly shaped shelves: the unpredictability of the lines enlivened the mood of this calm bedroom.

High Camp Home

34. Country chic
Although the shelves on the diagonal extend beyond the headboard, the whole structure looks very solid and rustic - especially when combined with street lamps.

Artyukhina Ekaterina

35. In the rhythm of the city
The light wood cabinets that emerge from the headboard complement the brickwork effectively, while the color scheme combined with the decorative panel evokes industrial associations.

Alexandra Fedorova's Bureau

36. Emphasis on composition
The design of bedside tables can become an element of an integral architectural solution, as in Alexandra Fedorova's project, where the dark volume of the nightstand seems to lie under the bed.

Tatiana Nicol

37. Shelves in a niche
The small footage of the bedroom is a reason to think about high built-in wardrobes, and fit the bed into the niche formed by them. The role of bedside tables in this case will be played by hanging shelves.

38. Opening of the season
Some closet shelves next to the bed can be left open. They can be used to store small items.

Ksenia Bobrikova. Xenia Design Studio

39. Headboard niche
If you don't want to overload the bedroom with wardrobes, storage systems can be hidden behind textiles, and a niche for the necessary little things can be taken away from the headboard.

4Design 4Design

40. Overhead light
An architectural option - to play with built-in niches and open shelves with lighting. It can also be made in color to change the mood of the room as desired

Inés Benavides

41. Fits it all
A headboard with built-in storage is a hot trend, especially since there is room for decor or lamps on the top of the structure.

42. Elegant look
The dark-coloured headboard has a discreet and elegant look, making it possible to place a home library in the bedroom.

David De La Garza / ZURDODGS

43. Tables as columns
The author of this American bedroom used coffee tables as false columns.

Cristiana Vannini

44. Difficult niche for problem space
Bedside tables (pictured) in the niche behind the headboard are an organic solution for a small narrow bedroom.

Casas inHAUS

45. Double convenience
The built-in niches can be arranged in two levels of storage by hanging an internal shelf. This option is for open storage fans: all the little things are easily accessible, and you don’t have to waste time looking for the right book or perfume bottle.

Nook Architects

46. Hidden Reserves
A headboard with built-in storage systems is a concise and convenient bedroom decor scenario, especially if the room has a rectangular shape and you do not mind the 30-40 cm that the whole structure will take.

David De La Garza / ZURDODGS

47. On the catwalk
Beds with a catwalk are one of the trends in bedroom furnishing, which, however, is appropriate only in rooms of sufficient area. But the podium allows you to abandon the bedside tables - a book and an alarm clock will fit next to the pillow.

Renato Arrigo

48. Wide edge
The wider the podium, the more storage options. But before you use the idea in your own bedroom, ask yourself how comfortable it will be for you to sleep (and especially get up in the morning) on a low bed.

Nanette Wong

49. Add shelves
Not enough room for little things? Mount a shelf behind the headboard, as in this austere masculine interior from Italy.

50. Design duet
Two architectural techniques in one interior: there is a wide podium and a comfortable niche behind the headboard.

Anastasia Komarova INdEX

51. Serving in the bedroom
Round tables are traditionally considered a feminine element in a bedroom set: this technique can be enhanced by covering them with a snow-white tablecloth.

P.S.pierreswatch

52. Exquisite pair
The round table trick also works well when paired with a standard chest of drawers. So you can jokingly divide the bedroom interior into male and female halves.

Elle Homestaging

53. Classic in color
If the interior lacks accents (and you don't want to paint the walls or change the color of the furniture at all), pay attention to the design of the bedside table. A tablecloth combined with other home textiles will help quickly change the colors and mood of the room.

Lorenzo Castillo

54. Connecting eras
On a table with a bright tablecloth, both modern lamps and classic models with a fabric lampshade are appropriate.

Meredith L. Bohn Interior Design

55. Back to the past
The short tablecloth option is not without its nostalgic charm. It reminds of the old days, when only writing and card tables were left uncovered with textiles.

Designed by Ekaterina Kolegova Ecole

56. Treasure chest
As an alternative to coffee tables and bedside tables, chests are popular with designers around the world. Including because they broadcast the motive of moderate consumption and the use of old things in a new role.

Architales

57. With a new face
Even a battered object can be restored and decorated to your liking, and the lid of the chest becomes a comfortable tabletop.

Tatyana Kolotushkina

58. The magic of white
Vintage accessories are especially good in minimalist interiors and unusually fresh colors - for example, even a large travel trunk looks more elegant in white.

Harpers Interiors

59. Smile before sleep
Excessive severity of travel chests can be broken with bright or ironic accessories and prints, as the authors of this bedroom did.

Alexander James Interiors

60. For men's interiors
A chest instead of a bedside table is a trick that works great in the interiors of a men's bedroom.

RARE Office

61. There will be music
If an old receiver has miraculously survived in your house, this is a reason to find a worthy place for it - for example, turn it into a bedside table.

Gastón y Daniela

62. Waiting for a flight
Suitcases stacked on top of each other can also be used as bedside tables. They can also be used to store infrequently used little things.

Paolo Fusco Photo

63. Miracles of ingenuity

71. Two in one
Bedside tables successfully replace high tables in the interior. Under them, you can hide additional necessary items. For example, put a stool to the left of the bed - and the table can be used as a dressing table. And the place under the right one is used for storing pillows and extra blankets.

Bedside Light Ideas - Hektor Light

Nightstand lighting is the easiest way to set the mood

When decorating a bedroom, details and colors are important, and with the right lighting, you can create a special atmosphere and mood.

For general lighting , ceiling lamps are more suitable, while night lamps can conveniently bring additional light into your bedroom and at the same time improve the overall appearance and atmosphere by creating a play of light and shadow.

When choosing a luminaire proceed:
  • from the planned activity in the room
  • arrangement of work surfaces
  • desired working height and light direction
  • room dimensions and finishing materials
  • psychological effect of lighting
  • efficiency and luminaire design

Too little or too much light should always be avoided . Both extremes affect the well-being of a person, tiring or making the mood more nervous and gloomy. Good lighting can give energy and joy. And although certain rules apply when lighting, in reality, each room requires a special solution.

The bed, as a large-scale object of volumetric design, could be balanced by a lamp of the correct size , in choosing which it would be worth observing the shape and dimensions of the dome. The dome should not be too large and spacious to cover the entire area under it, or the light from under its edge began to blind the eyes.

General rule : The light fixture should be 1/3 the size of the bedside table.

If the height of the nightstand is 55-65 cm, then you can choose a lamp with a height of 60-70 cm. If the height of the surface is 45-50 cm, then a higher lamp is also required as compensation.

It doesn't matter how high the light is, what matters is how high the light is.

For reasons of convenience, the location of the switch is important, which could be within the reach of the hand, that is, no more than 50-75 cm. . Decorative lights give our bedroom depth and coziness, and also act more as a design element. The purpose of functional luminaires is to create visual comfort for certain activities in a limited space, such as reading. A light density of 200 lux or more is sufficient for reading voluminous material with sufficient contrast of the background surface (for example, black letters are printed on white paper).

The visually impaired and the elderly need more light. It is also important that the luminaire can be easily installed in a suitable position, especially at the optimal distance from the observed object.

The recommended light density is 10-200 lx.

A selection of suitable bedside lamps in the bedroom can be found here:
