A place of rest and relaxation, your bedroom should be your solace from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Sure, you want your bedroom’s style to reflect your design preferences, but you also want to make sure it functions as the retreat you deserve. Transitioning a bedroom from drab to luxurious can be as simple as the addition of new lamps or maybe a bit more complex, like an intricate accent wall. If you just can’t put your finger on what yours needs though, no need to worry because that is exactly what we’re here for! Our collection features the best luxury bedrooms with photos and tips, so you can finally find that perfect design.

A black bedroom is no easy feat, but this space nails it. The black wall is extra luxurious contrasting against the light floors and emerald green accent wall. When using black in a bedroom, make sure that there is plenty of contrast, space, and light to ensure the room doesn’t feel overly closed in.

This grey bedroom offsets its neutral hues by diving into the bright and bold world of turquoise. Not only is this color eye-catching on its own, but when applied to the modular furniture within the bedroom, it creates a contemporary aesthetic with a slight futuristic vibe.

The oversized headboard in this earthy bedroom is undoubtedly part of why this set up feels so luxurious. The plush cushioning stretching across the entire back wall makes this room look extra cozy. Of course, the ambiance provided by the sconces and built-in headboard lights don’t hurt either.

A luxurious bedroom shouldn’t just be for adults. This luxury kids’ room is fit for a teenager and its design creates the perfect retreat to do homework or unwind. The visualizers of this room made great use of soft neutrals, but they also made sure that the space still felt youthful by adding fun design elements, such as the abstract black and white floor and the acrylic swinging chair.

Seductive dark hues are perfectly illuminated in this space using bedroom pendant lights. The regal gold present on them, as well as the unique bedroom chandelier and end tables, makes this space feel like it is fit for modern royalty.

The multitude of textures throughout this design makes it a visual delight. The one-of-a-kind, mirrored backboard especially makes quite the bold statement. One-of-a-kind pieces are great when it comes to designing a luxury bedroom because knowing that you have something that is completely unique to your space can make the whole design feel much more indulgent.

Closets are often hidden, but this bedroom took a completely different approach. A sitting area has been created in this open-concept closet perched in the middle of the bedroom. An interesting design choice that absolutely feels right for this space.

This Asian-inspired bedroom doesn’t have a lot of color, but it does have a whole lot of character. Running with the theme of koi fish, we can see that this motif has been used on both the wall and the floor. The 3D wall art really gives this room some extra dimension.

The circular molding on the wall makes all the difference here. Try to picture the room without it. Feels pretty plain, right? The wall art you choose for a bedroom can transform the space, so choose wisely. Neutral art with a heavy texture is often a safe way to go if you are looking to achieve a more elegant or refined look.

A simple bedroom is transformed through the use of an accent wall paired with a wall sculpture. Using a textured accent wall in a bedroom can help create more visual interest and dimension in a room, which in turn can make it feel more luxurious.

Usually when we picture a bedroom with a wardrobe, this isn’t quite what springs to mind. This bedroom keeps things open by using partitions of glass and marble. Both great building materials that can help you achieve a more glamorous bedroom.

Take a page from this bedroom’s playbook and concentrate on what you hang and where. Sure, the addition of a modern chandelier to a bedroom will instantly up its glam factor, but maybe reconsider something else that you probably already have in your bedroom. When hanging curtains, hang them closer to the ceiling. This can make your windows feel larger and your bedroom feel taller, which will ultimately make the room feel more spacious. More space = more of a luxurious feel.

Your bed should be comfortable, but it should be stylish too. Take this tufted floor bed for instance. It is unique and ultra-chic being so low to the ground, making it one of the first things that caught our eye in this room. No easy task considering that there is also a gorgeous, glossy tile wall and patio doors that open up to a stunning view.

If you’re not sure if a blue bedroom is a good fit for luxury, think again. You will notice that many luxury bedroom are big on metallic and neutrals, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use color. A great example is the color blocked corner of this bedroom.

This minimalist bedroom is comfortable and chic with its four poster bed and large flat screen TV. A four poster bed is another great option to up the luxurious vibe in a room. They are a bit more classic than platform beds and they come in many modern designs.

A personal art gallery is featured on the wall of this bedroom, all accompanied by its own overhead lighting. Art galleries have a notoriously luxurious feel to them, so it makes complete sense to borrow a page from their design book.

A mix of elements we have seen in previous bedrooms in this collections have been expertly executed in this design. Ceiling-to-floor curtains, oversized headboard, hanging pendant lights, and the use of marble are a few that we can spot right off the bat.

If you don’t want to go the route of traditional artwork, consider having some built-in. This abstract design has been laid in to the recessed wall and protected using a large sheet of glass. Something that you definitely don’t see everyday!

The marble and wood decor seen throughout this design is not an uncommon combination in bedrooms that are looking to achieve high style. It is a dynamic duo with transformative capabilities.

The awesome textured accent wall seen behind the bed in this room takes incorporating natural elements to a whole new level. The raw aesthetic and texture is mesmerizing.

Wood furnishings highlighted by a slew of various lighting creates the perfect mix of natural and man made elements. We especially love the unique ceiling fan that hangs overhead.

If you want a bedroom to feel sexy and seductive, try playing with some darker colors. The glossy black accent wall in this room instantly drew us in. Of course, we didn’t miss the smaller touches that make this design great though, like the chrome legged bed and simple bedroom chair. Every detail counts!

The color gold has been long considered a color of wealth and prosperity, so it is only natural that it is notoriously known as a luxurious color. This bedroom utilizes that knowledge and makes a fun, yet elegant corner using a bit of paint, a unique light, and drum end tables.

Another great use of globe pendant lights. Pendant lights are a home run in the bedroom because not only do they create ambiance and a secondary lighting option, but they can help keep end tables from becoming overcrowded.

Secondary lighting is absolutely imperative to achieve the desired ambiance for a bedroom, so if you don’t want to wire in anything new, go with the tried and true bedside table lamps. Look for ones with a more luxurious design, like the chrome plated ones pictured here.

Asymmetry can be a great design tool to keep things fresh and interesting. For example, the Vibia Slim LED pendant is only used on one side of the bed here, while a globe table light is used on the other end. Symmetry and matching everything is not necessary to achieve a luxurious bedroom.

Look for pieces of functional art to incorporate in to your design. They’re useful and they will give your bedroom a unique edge. We love that here the designer mimicked the texture of the pendant light on the accent wall.

This industrial bedroom takes things in a different direction by using minimalist furniture and an abundance of concrete. Even though this design vastly varies from others on our list, note that it also incorporates built-in lighting and a low platform bed.

An oversized throw rug like the one used in this black bedroom is an excellent add-in that can instantly make a room feel more cozy. It can also help to add more visual interest to a room with a minimal color palette by creating a bit more texture in the space.

This minimalist bedroom is sleek and clean with its all-white color palette. The designer made sure that this space doesn’t feel cold and sterile by fitting it with a modern bed and creating a recessed wall illuminated by built-in lighting.

Another white bedroom, but a bit more spacious. This one uses unusually shaped furniture and a bold red to create a fresh design.

Who needs wall art when you have this!? Nothing says luxury quite like an irreplaceable view like this one.

Another large window, but a bit more feasible for the average home. Not only can large windows reward you with a great view, but they are also great for flooding a bedroom with natural light.

Being able to step out our bedroom directly in to the pool? Yes, please! This unique design makes that possible with an oversized, sliding glass door.

Design your bedroom with the lifestyle that you want in mind. If that means having coffee outside in the morning while listening to the birds, how can you incorporate that? Sometimes a bedroom can feel luxurious because of the activities or lifestyle it encourages.

Glitz and glamour, this high-shine bedroom is absolutely divine. With its glossy finishings, spacious layout, and plush rugs, this room’s luxurious feel is rivaled by few.

A touch of green is featured both inside and outside this bedroom. The area rug is accented by the expansive view of the tree tops that can be seen through the oblong window. A unique configuration for a window, but one that really highlights this design.

If you are a nature lover, then this might be the bedroom for you! Instead of a traditional headboard, how about an atrium filled with lush greenery and natural lighting?

A walk-in closet is re-imagined with this open-concept design. By pushing the bed to the middle of the room, this allowed for a partial wall to be built. This wall not only acts as a headboard, but it helps separate the closet from the rest of the room without completely closing it off.

Modern wood paneling can have a very sophisticated and warm feel, making it the perfect wall covering for a bedroom. This bedroom even accents it with cut out design panels for extra flair.

This cool bedroom is both fun and luxe. It makes great use of built-ins, which are a wonderful way to add a bit more luxury to a space.

Art Deco collides with Modern in this elegant bedroom. Everything from the ornate wall moldings to the grey, low pile carpet come together effortlessly.

If you have ever wondered what it feels like to be royalty, try spending a night here. With intricate designs, vaulted ceilings and marble pillars there is a lot to envy with this bedroom. Get the look at home by incorporating a mural in to your bedroom or try adopting a color scheme of gold and white marble.

With a bit of a Moroccan aesthetic, this bedroom is a vision in white, blue, and brown. The large shag rug really helps give it a youthful vibe. If Aladdin was set in the modern day, we could totally see this being Princess Jasmine’s room.

Another Moroccan beauty. Great attention has been paid to details, such as the intricate tile flooring and various motifs and textures used throughout the design.

A mural highlighted by built-ins, like the one seen here, is an eye-catching option that can be very cost-efficient. Murals are widely available online or you could always paint your own if you’re the creative type!

This luxury kids’ bedroom is brimming with warmth. A soft pink paired with a darker grey allows for just the right amount of contrast. We especially love the oversized, plush wall.

Combining red and green is a bold choice that requires excellent planning. Unless you want your bedroom to look like Christmas, then consider off setting the duo with a bright color like yellow, pink, or turquoise. The addition of tropical plants can also be great way to rid of unwanted holiday vibes.

A dusty pink gives this room a feminine feel, all without being overpowering. Like many of the bedrooms we have seen on this list, an end of the bed ottoman and reading chair have been adding to this bedroom. Two furnishings that are great at adding a touch of class.

Many of the accent walls seen throughout our collection have been quite intricate, but this bedroom is proof that a simple wallpaper job can also have a big impact! The neutral colors and faded design are a magnificent choice for this room.

This bedroom utilizes many of the elements discussed throughout our collection, but it also incorporates a small tree that really livens up this design. The addition of plants to a bedroom can help a design feel fresh and vibrant. Keep in mind that the pot you choose to put it in can make all the difference though. A ceramic planter will always look far more luxurious than plastic.

1. Gold accent planters 2. Gold finish candle holder 3. Table Lamp With Gold Cage Base 4. Atollo table lamp 5. Gold paper origami pendant 6. Grasshopper style floor lamp 7. Faux marble and gold coffee table 8. Modern golden chandelier 9. Modern style bed

25 ways to design a boutique hotel room |

(Image credit: Future / Chris Everard)

If you want to make bedtime – and yourself – feel special every night, these luxury bedroom ideas will provide the perfect inspiration for you to create a beautiful hotel-style sleep space in your own home.

And why not? We spend around a third of our lives in bed, so it makes sense that we should make sure that we’re giving ourselves the best experience, and highest quality rest we can.

And you can do this by creating a luxury bedroom that caters to all your needs, from inviting materials to comforting colors. Nearly every element is involved in creating bedroom ideas that will turn your space into something from a top tier hotel.

Luxury bedroom ideas

If you are looking for main bedroom ideas, or even guest bedroom ideas, with a focus on luxury, making these changes will not only make you feel like you’re on vacation (yes, even on a Sunday evening with a tough week looming), but you’ll find it easier to unwind and drift off into the deep sleep your body requires to truly rest and recover.

If you've ever wondered 'how can I make my bedroom look stylish?' then this is the advice for you. Below, with the help of interior designers and hoteliers, we bring you the best luxury bedroom ideas.

1. Make the bed the focus

This fabulous luxury bedroom is in the Gleneagles Townhouse in Edinburgh, Scotland, and is a fine example of how expert bedroom styling can make a space feel special, particularly if the focus are on your bed ideas.

‘The upholstery focuses on contemporary takes on traditional pieces, both in the shapes of the furniture and on the patterns and colors in the fabric,' says Charlie North, the designer behind the Gleneagles’ interiors, and Vice President of Interior Design at Ennismore. 'We love the canopy which helps give a sense of grandeur to the bed, but without needing a four-poster frame in the room. Again, we’ve used contemporary fabrics so the canopy doesn’t feel dated or twee. It reads like a confident statement. '

2. Put architecture into a square space

'If your bedroom doesn't have stand-out architecture, you may find it hard to add a luxurious feel with just a few light touches. However, you can add faux architectural elements to your space to make it feel more unique and layered,' says Lucy Searle, Editor in Chief, Homes & Gardens.

'Here, one of our favorite international designers, Charu Gandhi at Elicyon , has created architectural detailing with a dropped ceiling and wall panel-cum-mammoth headboard. The headboard in particular is very achievable and translatable, and shows how to design a bedroom with a feeling of grandeur.'

3. Screen off a workspace

It's likely in today's world that you may have to work from home, and the only space available might be your bedroom. If this is the case, you might be looking at bedroom layouts ideas with a desk as part of the floorplan.

This, of course, isn't necessarily conducive to a luxury bedroom, especially as it's hard to divide off a work space from a sleep space if square footage is a problem. However, perhaps you can do so with drapery? Here, a double-sided curtain glides neatly back and forwards at night to ensure the room feels like a sleep-only space; you can use clever joinery with trim to hide the curtain track in the ceiling.

4. Match the ceiling to the floor

Jay Jeffers is a California-based designer who created the interiors for The Madrona, a boutique hotel in the Sonoma County wine country.

'Cozy, clean, chic. These are the three words that came to mind when I was thinking of how I wanted a guest room at The Madrona to feel. The cool tones combined with the chunky knit throws and stools completely sets the perfect tone to a relaxing weekend.'

Note how ceiling ideas in this space include a textured wallpaper that matches the tones in the flooring below, cleverly creating a cocooning feel in a space that is decorated in cool colors.

5. Go overboard with fabrics and layering

A simple way to create a luxury bedroom is to invest in plenty of ways to use different but complementing fabrics and patterns within the space. Here, Henriette von Stockhausen of VSP Interiors gives a masterclass in country bedroom decorating.

'I personally like to compound the feeling of coziness and comfort by using darker colors on the inside of the beds as it helps create that womb like experience and a feeling of security that one craves after a long day at work,' says Henriette.

'One tip to keep the budget down is to choose a cheaper fabric for the inside as it needs a lot of meterage and choose the more expensive fabric on the outside where less is needed, especially if the bed only has back and side curtains at the head end.

6. Furnish a luxury bedroom with antique finds

Decorating with antiques is a fail-safe way to create a luxury bedroom. This space is one of the many bedrooms in one of the many Pig Hotels , and it shows how rustic bedroom ideas can feel luxurious.

Owner and founder Judy Hutson, who along with her husband hotelier Robin, put individual room at the heart of their bedrooms, shares that including older pieces in a room is vital to it feeling luxury.

'It helps give it an enveloped look and is so intrinsic to our ethos. We buy our antiques and vintage pieces from lots of sources in the UK and abroad.'

Whether you incorporate a cherished family heirloom, or bring in a classic copper bath, great for master bedroom ideas with bath, these finishing touches can add inviting character and personality to the space.

7. Bring a bathtub into a bedroom

Combining luxury bedroom ideas with luxury bathroom ideas makes sense if you want the boutique feel but don't have the space for an ensuite.

Here, in Louisiana's chic hotel The Chloe , bath ideas are comfortably combined into the bedroom. Designed by Sara Ruffin Costello , the rooms follow the hotel's  dusty sapphire and blushing rosé color scheme – and its accentuated Victorian original features for an indisputable nod to luxury. This unconventional bedroom furnishing may have its practical assets, but it is also an exquisite focal point that will steal the limelight and add hints of regency into any space.

8. Go for a pared-back feel that's still luxurious

Luxury bedrooms needn't be opulent or overtly what might traditionally be called 'feminine'. In fact it's easy to create a luxurious feel for women who prefer a pared-back look or anyone looking for bedroom ideas for men.

Interior designer Kelly Wearstler shows how in this boutique space she designed at The Proper . Kelly's creative vision for the rooms seamlessly blends past and present with compelling design, vintage influence, local art and, of course, attention to detail, seen in her selection and combination of fabrics for bedding and upholstery.

9. Step back into nature

(Image credit: Future / Chris Everard)

Painting both walls and ceiling in the same color can create a cocooning feel, particularly in cozy small bedrooms. Soft greens were used in this garden-inspired room, and adding leafy patterns and florals works well as they’re all based on the same color palette.

The Colefax and Fowler bedroom curtain ideas tie in nicely with the headboard, covered in Rapture & Wright ’s Walled Garden fabric. It shows how accessories can help bring the design to life – including the Wisteria lamps with Empire shades in Cloud Chevrons by Pooky .

10. Center a scheme around one color palette

(Image credit: Future / James Merrell)

Picking bedroom color ideas in one core shade and using different tones of it is a way to be bold without incidentally clashing. Wendi Wolf Lewitt designed this cocooning pink bedroom as such, with built-in open shelving, too, so personal belongings can be displayed.

11. Play with panelling

(Image credit: Future / Emma Lee)

Wall paneling ideas are a popular way to add character to your walls in luxury bedrooms, and there are plenty of techniques to try. Consider cladding half or three-quarters of the height of your walls and painting the wood in a contrasting color.

Test out the shades in your room before committing, to see what they look like in different lights. The woodwork here is finished in Paint & Paper Library ’s Blue Gum, which looks much brighter as light floods the space, complementing the headboard and drapes.

The tongue and groove design not only adds an interesting visual element but is practical, too. It allows the wiring of the light and touchscreen below to be hidden and has created a shelf for pictures above – perfect if you are looking for hard-working yet luxurious bedroom ideas.

12. Give antique furniture a refresh

(Image credit: Future / Alecia Neo)

A bold paint job is often all it takes to give antique furniture a new lease of life, which interior designer Elizabeth Hay has done with these two locally found beds.

The deep red makes a bold statement, so paler tones were applied to the walls for balance. This mix of bright colors and eclectic patterns is perfect inspiration when considering bohemian bedroom ideas.

13. Focus on the details

(Image credit: Future / Brent Darby)

Hotel-inspired luxury bedroom ideas are all in the details.

‘Fabrics are a really effortless way to add a decorative element to a bedroom,’ says Hayley McAfee, design director of Villa Nova . ‘Upholstered pieces, such as a headboard or chair, can act as a starting point for the rest of the room.

Consider different bedroom layout ideas, too. Could you reposition your bed to comfortably cater for an armchair or two? Doing so can heighten the feeling of luxury.

14. Pick your palette

(Image credit: Future / Chris Everard)

‘The bedroom is somewhere you want to relax, unwind and switch off from the everyday. Tranquil blue tones and calming neutrals not only look luxurious, but are known for their relaxing and regenerative powers,’ explains Zoffany designer Peter Gomez – like in this soothing all-blue bedroom.

‘Using muted, pared-back hues will create a sophisticated and soothing space. If you want something a bit warmer, a shade like pewter will help to create a cozy, cocooning environment where you can wrap yourself up and escape from it all.’

15. Enhance a focal point

While we may envy the cool bedroom ideas of five-star hotels, we must remember that bedrooms are deeply personal spaces and should be decorated accordingly.

‘If you are tempted to have a bedroom accent wall or wallpaper, then it is best to use the wall behind the bed to ground the room,’ says Joe Studholme, Farrow & Ball ’s color curator. ‘But if you are feeling daring you might consider extending your bedroom wallpaper ideas to the ceiling – you will spend a lot of time admiring it from the bed!’

Putting bedroom mirror ideas on the headboard wall is another way to create a luxury appeal, and reflect light to enhance the space, too.

16. Invest in stylish storage

(Image credit: Future / Emma Lewis)

Are you looking for luxury bedroom ideas that will recreate the high-end aesthetic of a hotel room? Then bespoke storage is the most stylish option for you.

‘Bespoke fitted furniture allows you to create a tailored storage solution that not only maximizes use of the space, but is also designed to suit what you want to put away and what you want to display,’ says Roselind Wilson, owner and director of Roselind Wilson Design .

Fitted furniture created bespoke is a useful option if you're struggling for small bedroom storage ideas, too.

‘It’s also the perfect opportunity to create a statement design that is as individual as you are. You can specify materials and colors to match your room scheme or existing items of furniture, and a style that suits your taste and type of property.’

17. Play with pattern

(Image credit: Future / Catherine Gratwicke)

‘Mixing patterns is one of the most enjoyable parts of a design scheme,‘ says textile designer Bethie Tricks . ‘I tend to use the rule of three as a starting point – pulling together patterns that share a similar color or design element to ensure they echo each other subtly while adding variety and a sense of continuity.

'Using the biggest pattern on the floor in the form of a rug helps to anchor a space. Apply another on one of the main pieces of furniture, such as a headboard or armchair, and finish with either patterned wall decor for your bedroom or drapes.

'You can pick out colors from these patterns to finish the scheme when choosing your bedding and other decorative accessories.’

18. Opt for pure artistry with a mural

(Image credit: Future / Jake Curtis)

Choose the right design for your space and follow the latest bedroom trends to take a feature wall to the next level with wall mural ideas. From hand-blocked panels to digitally printed vistas, murals of picturesque landscapes are an expressive way to bring epic scale and romance to a scheme

In luxury bedroom ideas you want to use calm colors that evoke the pace and tranquility of far away shores.

19. Incorporate decorative panelling

(Image credit: Future / Paul Raeside)

Panelling is a simple way to bring architectural shape to featureless rooms, while protecting walls from the general wear and tear of family life. Intricate fretwork, simple rustic boards and traditional panels all offer their own distinctive style – and add a luxurious finish to any space.

Available in a wide range of mouldings, from subtle tongue and groove to grand period designs, or more modern design statements like the feature wall above, there’s a panelling style to suit every bedroom.

20. Size it up

(Image credit: Future / Simon Bevan)

The headboard you choose will set the tone in luxury bedroom ideas, and opting for an oversized statement style can help anchor the space.

For your own scheme, consider creating a headboard with your favorite fabric for a finish that feels personal. Go for wall-mounted headboard ideas that also sit on the floor for support, and finish with stud work or a contrasting pipework for luxurious hotel-style look.

21. Swap out your sheets

We’ve all been in a luxury hotel and come away dreaming about how soft and luxurious the sheets on the bed felt. However, as Lucy Ackroyd, head of design at Christy notes, ‘it’s incredibly easy to replicate this feeling in your own home simply by ensuring you have the best bedding for the job.’

Take inspiration from the exquisite bedding in this inviting gray bedroom idea. ‘Crisp, clean sheets give an instant feeling of luxury,’ says Lucy. ‘Opt for pure cotton, high thread count linen which will help regulate temperature and moisture levels. Plus, they will feel much smoother against the skin than synthetic offerings.’

22. Dress for success

(Image credit: Future / Mark Bolton)

The simple act of styling a bed properly will make your bedroom feel extra special and luxurious, or set the perfect tone for impressive luxury bedroom ideas.

In theory, there are myriad ways to dress your bed, but if you’re looking for that chic, luxury hotel room look, there are a few tips to take into account that will elevate your bed both in terms of style and comfort.

‘On a double bed, go for two pillows on each side and invest in a couple of pillow shams to match your bedding,’ says Lucy. ‘Place the pillow shams on top of your usual pillows to hide them behind a more elegantly coordinated facade.’

‘Next comes the cushions,’ explains Lucy. ‘Go for somewhere between three and six cushions depending on the width of your bed, and group them together by size, with the largest at the back. For the finishing touch, a statement throw (or two!) is essential for a luxe, beautifully dressed bed.’

23. Consider your materials

(Image credit: Future / Alicia Taylor)

No matter how pretty you’ve made your luxury bedroom ideas look by styling the bed to the nines, remember that what’s on the inside counts, too.

Lucy suggests: ‘Opt for good quality, filled inner bedding that will stand the test of time and maintain that plush feeling after every wash. Plus, make sure to fluff up pillows and duvets every time you dress your bed for that full, cozy, "can’t wait to dive in” feeling.’

24. Add serenity with scent

(Image credit: Future / Mark Bolton)

Smell is one of our most powerful senses, and can completely change your mood, as well as transport you somewhere else. It’s no surprise, then, that the right scents can put your body into relaxation and sleep mode – making scent layering a must for luxury bedroom ideas that exude calm and tranquility.

‘Lavender has long been known as a popular sleep aid, and for good reason, as research highlights the calming effect is has on the nervous system,’ says Lucy. ‘To really engage the senses, layer your scents throughout the room – a diffuser will ensure your choice of aroma hits you every time you enter the room, while candles will provide additional ambience whilst also giving a glorious hit of fragrance.’

Do remember, however, to always keep candles at a safe distance from your sheets and extinguish well before you think you’ll nod off.

25. Create calm with color

(Image credit: Future / Mel Yates)

The color palette you choose for your bedroom can have a surprisingly big impact on your sleep. When selecting your color scheme, consider the feeling and mood you want in the room and see which colors evoke these in you.

‘White bedrooms are known for feeling bright and airy, and can help provide a sense of cleanliness – particularly useful if you have been working from home and are feeling trapped within the four walls,’ advises Lucy.

Blue and green bedrooms are both calming, as these colors evoke the feeling of being outdoors. However, make sure to avoid colors like red or orange, which are stimulating and could diminish the all important wind-down before sleep.’

How can I make my bedroom luxurious?

If you are after simple ways to add a touch of luxury to your bedroom, look no further than decorative elements.

Decoration is all about accessories. A quick way to incorporate more detail into your scheme is with cushions, throws and lampshades. You can switch these out easily, season to season, or as your mood changes.

How can I make my room look expensive?

An easy way to create expensive looking luxury bedroom ideas is with a decorative mural or wallpaper. ‘Beyond just decoration, the transportive effects of a scenic wallpaper within a bedroom creates expansive surroundings at an intimate scale,’ says Claud Cecil Gurney, founder of de Gournay .

Another way to add grandeur is to introduce art to your space. ‘Bedrooms are our private inner sanctuaries and, given that artwork is such a personal choice, it can be used to elevate schemes and provide a sense of identity,’ says Roslyn Keet, associate director of David Collins Studio .

Luxury bedrooms - luxury in everything

Luxury bedrooms in our reality

Luxury bedrooms and their difference from ordinary bedroom design projects is quite an interesting question. As it has become a habit of many, to mean by the word "elite" something chosen, the best, without even knowing the translation of this word.
When applied to the bedroom, it means the superlative of everything, as shown in the photo, the very best. When creating such a bedroom, an overstated bar of requirements applies. nine0033 The designer who creates the interior of the room must be a gifted person, at least, not to mention talent, as a maximum. The bedroom of the elite is provided with expensive furniture, accessories and is a corner of comfort, so it is believed that it should look like a room from a palace, although this is not entirely true.
Modern interiors of elite bedrooms faintly resemble luxurious chambers, where, as at an exhibition, expensive furniture, things and accessories are placed, where only a crown and a casket with jewelry in a conspicuous place are missing. They are made suitable for evening and nighttime activities. nine0033

Unnecessary taste 9000 In this article, one can understand that the adjective elite is suitable not only for the expensive interior of the bedroom, but also emphasizes the impeccable taste of the owners who created certain amenities primarily for themselves.

There is no doubt that the creation of such a bedroom is possible in an appropriate building that fits the definition of an elite one. nine0033 There is nothing surprising if each member of the family in this house is the owner of a separate room, so each room can reflect the habits, taste preferences and hobbies of the owners. Nothing is done here with his own hands, this is a designer who draws an elite bedroom, must accumulate the qualities of a psychologist, be a bit of a detective, collecting individual puzzles of information in order to build an elite interior that satisfies demanding owners.
An elite bedroom should become for the owners the embodied reality of a person's ideas about evening and night rest. nine0005

From ideas to their implementation

A quiet, remote part of the house is allocated for the bedroom, and its own unspoken rules apply here: facing east, that is, towards the waking sun.

  • When there is an opportunity, waking up not from an alarm clock, but because you have already had enough sleep, to soak up in bed, then you can afford a room with windows to the west or south. nine0069
  • A bedroom with north-facing windows will not look very happy, because our climatic zone is characterized by insufficient natural light, and this does not contribute to a cozy atmosphere, and we need to think about artificial lighting, or rather, its proper placement.
  • The size of the elite bedroom space is limited to 25 to 50 m². Why not 100 or 150 m²?
  • There are such examples, but they are quite rare, the instructions do not recommend making them large due to difficulties with the situation. nine0042
  • The larger and wider the free space of the bedroom, the less comfort in such a room, despite the efforts of designers, because it is difficult to remove the barracks plaque.
  • Attention: Having chosen a space for creativity, you need to create a general atmosphere of an elite room, choose the style and color scheme of the bedroom.

    • “You need to hurry when catching fleas”, so take your time to bring palace style or minimalism to life, although there are many positive aspects in them. nine0042
    • The decoration in the style of minimalism, although it looks quite impressive, but the spaciousness of the elite bedroom will not please you with a comfortable rest. Practice has shown that this style has proven itself in small spaces. In a large space, with a small amount of furniture, it gives the effect not of a comfortable elite class bedroom, but of a spacious hangar for several large aircraft.
    • The chicness of the palace style after a couple of months begins to tire the owner with its pomp and variegation of colors. Isn't this too high a price for an interior that will quickly get bored? nine0042

Creative approach of the master to the interior

Creative approach and combination of styles

In the design projects of elite bedrooms, it is impossible to trace standard design solutions. A set of certain items, without which the bedroom cannot be called that, yes, but the styling can rather be called “fusion”, reminiscent of a breath of wind from different cultures, historical eras and the ideas of the masters that form the basis of this style.
    So:

    • Creating an elite bedroom in a combined fusion style requires a fine aesthetic taste, a great sense of proportion and special perception, so as not to turn the bedroom into a lost and found office of things and various trifles. nine0042
    • Whatever one may say, this style is the best option for an elite room.
    • It requires a large space for its implementation, which accommodates luxury bedroom furniture and accessories, but for all its luxury and wealth, it can be a very comfortable style and convenient.
    • Elite furniture collections for fusion bedrooms, designed for wealthy people who prefer original design interiors from diverse materials of expensive and not very, smooth and rough surfaces, you can find metal and plastic. nine0042
    • This style presents difficult to match colors that are in harmony with each other, reminiscent of an artistic experiment that ended well.
    • In addition to them, the combination of such trends as Art Nouveau, Provence and elements from ethno gives an original combination in the solution of an elite room. What is attractive about these combinations?
    • Provence style with natural colors, slightly diluted and bleached by the sun's rays, is complemented by linear weaves, collected in elegant Art Nouveau patterns. Ethno-style accessories are the link that completes the overall picture. nine0042

Attention: It is difficult to give recommendations for some abstract elite bedroom, because each specific case requires its own approach, ideas and developments.

    • Such an approach to solving the problem requires modern fuss, information abundance, excessive noise levels, constant stressful situations.
    • Designers are trying to create an interior so that the owner of the bedroom can relax and unwind in those short hours that are allotted for relaxation. nine0042
    • Pomposity, ornate finishes and an abundance of decor go to the background, they were replaced by natural materials, calm tones, simplicity of lines and maximum functionality of furniture.

    Who produces luxury furniture

    Luxury premises luxury furniture

The quality of luxury furniture is beyond doubt, especially if it is made in Germany or Italy. Bedrooms from Italy are not an elite product of mass production, they are made to order, from precious woods or from very expensive and high-quality synthetic materials, depending on the design. nine0033 So:

    • Italian manufacturers do not share with anyone the first place in the manufacture of luxury bedrooms.
    • There are not so many design trends developed by Italian masters, and they are conditionally divided into 3 categories.
    • Classic luxury furniture that is not influenced by fashion. Its roots can be found in the mists of time, when the entire aristocracy of Europe made orders for the manufacture of furniture from Italian craftsmen who turned this production into art.
Modern classic Italian furniture continues the tradition of the old masters. It is handmade of the highest quality, but with the use of modern technologies. nine0033 Here, artificial aging of the surface of products is used to imitate antique furniture, antique decoration with brass bronze and other techniques are performed.
    • Elite Italian bedrooms in Art Nouveau style are made with artistic precision both in composition as a whole and in the manufacture of individual elements. The complete set of furniture in the Art Nouveau style contains interweaving of modern, even extravagant in some way, solutions and traditional, familiar to everyone.
A special term has appeared that defines the exoticism of Italian furniture makers - Italian Art Nouveau. This furniture cannot be confused with any other. nine0033 A distinctive feature is delicate flowers decorating furniture with colorful details, graceful petals using primary colors of olive, gray-blue, purple, gold and ocher.
    • Italy's elite bedrooms that make up the fusion collection do not require a separate introduction. They accumulate exclusivity, exclusivity, luxury, elegance and comfort at the same time.

    Luxury bedroom accessories

Luxury bedroom accessories, which include curtains and bedspreads, do not have to be simple. If chosen and the best, it means expensive and time-consuming. nine0033 So:
