A white painted wall in your bedroom is the perfect idea to add a radiant look to your sanctuary. Actually, such a wall becomes more brilliant if there is a natural source of light illuminating it. This idea is particularly great for a small bedroom. The fact that your wall has a pure white painting allows it to reflect all the light shining on it. As a result, you will have a brightly illuminated room, full of life and warmth. For a perfect match, you can have some grey furniture at strategic spaces in your bedroom.

Stylish White Furniture

Furniture makes a bedroom space look elegant and beautiful. Additionally, it makes it look brighter and cleaner. You should create a bedroom sanctuary that you always long to go to. Thus, when elegance, brightness, cleanliness, and beauty are present in your bedroom, the amount of comfort will increase. Still, white furniture carries a level of versatility that is not found in many colors. In spite of the color and design of your walls, a white furniture scheme will be ideal for your bedroom. In this regard, you can consider a grey wall for a wonderful match.

Magnificent Grey Flooring

You can choose to have either a tiled or carpeted floor in your bedroom. Whichever one you settle for, consider making the flooring grey. This will create a striking look that will make your bedroom space a joy to behold. To add magnificence and freshness to your bedroom, you can have white accessories like artworks and a bedside lamp. Take note that a slate grey floor is particularly ideal if your walls are pale grey. It will offer the much-needed contrast to make your haven lively.

Wondrous Grey Bedroom Wallpaper

For a modern space in your bedroom, choosing a grey wallpaper will do. If you will want to add a touch of stylish sophistication, you can get one that has a mixture of light and dark shades of grey. With such a scheme, your interior will be quite accommodative since it will allow you to have the liberty of choosing furniture from a wide range of colors. Grey wallpapers allow other colors to stand out. If you will love to have a peaceful and calm bedroom space, consider settling for light grey wallpapers.

If you're thinking of decorating with grey together with white then you're in the right place as we've gathered a host of different room ideas to help get you inspired as well as some handy advice from the interior experts.

Grey and white living room ideas – 11 stylish monochrome schemes

While grey and white room living room ideas can be seen as a safe choice, there's no reason why they should be drab and boring. With the right treatment grey living rooms can be show-stopping, the key is in mastering tone and texture.

'Using a white or natural palette is all about adding depth and contrast in different layers and textures,' says Jane Landino, creative head of studio at Taylor Howes . ‘To make a neutral palette feel designed and considered it’s important to mix and match patterns, albeit neutral ones and occasional pops of color.

'Just because something is white doesn’t mean it has to be plain: think about the application – is the wallpaper silk or textured, as an example. ' To bring extra interest to grey room ideas consider introducing, 'colorful art, accent soft furnishings and antique furniture and objects,' adds says Jane Landino.

1. Use dark grey with white for a cozy feel

Choosing dark grey living room paint ideas may feel daunting, but they can be wonderfully effective for creating a cozy feel.

'Using dark charcoal greys or black shades can create a sense of intimacy, and an encompassing feel when used in an all-over scheme,' says Ruth Mottershead, creative director of Little Greene.

With its white French doors and light wood floor, this dark living room remains feeling bright and welcoming. The large space also has the luxury of being flooded with light, which makes the deep walls less dramatic, however, 'don’t be afraid to use darker shades in spaces lacking natural light,' says Ruth, 'these can often be great places for creating impact and a real wrap-around feel.'

2.

Layer light, warm greys for a tranquil feel

For a restful yet uplifting living room to retreat to at the end of a hard day you can't go wrong with a scheme of delicate greys and subtle off-whites with warm undertones.

'Warm mid-greys and setting plaster tones are very calming and gentle in the summer, which evoke feelings of fresh open spaces. These colors also work really well in winter months as they don’t make a space feel cold,' says Martin Waller, founder of design brand Andrew Martin .

Elements of white introduced through the marble fireplace, lampshade, artwork and in the textured living room rug help lift and elevate this grey scheme, while hints of blush pink bring softness and elegance.

3. Add pattern with a grey and white carpet

White living rooms can run the risk of feeling cold and stark – adding a carpet in a light grey will instantly warm up the look and bring coziness underfoot while keeping the space relaxed and neutral.

'A neutral color palette is best suited to rooms you spend a lot of time in, such as a bedroom or living room, where relaxing tones are key to creating a happy space. Neutrals are versatile with the ability to provide a platform and set the scene,' Jodie Hatton, design manager at Brintons .

When choosing a living room carpet for a neutral scheme you may want to consider a patterned design, not only will it bring extra texture and interest it can help disguise stains and wear and tear which is great for busy rooms.

4. Create a minimalist look

Monochrome palettes are a hallmark of minimalist living rooms, in which pared-pack and purity of design reign supreme.

In this space the high-contrast combination of dark grey and white helps focus attention on the beautiful streamlined forms of the furniture, creating a head-turning and contemporary look. 'Natural qualities and understated design come together to form a stylish and minimalist space,' says Mark Butcher, head of Mark Alexander wallpapers of the look.

Elements of texture introduced through the Mark Alexander wallpaper and the large wool rug help bring warmth to the space and prevent it from feeling stark.

5. Pair grey and white with gold

Introducing metallics into a grey and white living room will instantly lift the space and bring an element of glamor – perfect if you're looking to create a luxury living room.

Combining textured grey surfaces, dazzling gold detailing and a beautiful angular shape, this bespoke living room shelving unit by Bergman Design House radiates warmth into this cool space, but also serves as a piece of functional sculpture.

6. Add an accent color

If you love bold colors but are cautious of using them in large quantities, consider using them as accents in a grey and white scheme.

Thanffully, choosing accent colors for grey and white is easy, as being neutral shades they pair well with pretty much every color. Yellow is a popular choice which will bring instant zest to a grey and white living room. Choose mustards for a mid-century feel or zesty citrus shades to keep things cool and contemporary.

7. Use a two-tone palette to showcase the architecture

Decorating with a pared-back palette of grey and white in a living room can be a great way to showcase the beautiful architecture of a space, as demonstrated in this two-tone living room design by Catherine Fowlkes of the DC-based architecture firm Fowlkes Studio.

'I like using warm greys to give depth to walls without dictating the room's furniture palette – light greys add a layer of softness while rich greys add depth,' says Fowlkes. 'Coating the windows, doors and trim in the same grey wall color further unifies the backdrop to a living room and can give the illusion of a higher ceiling when painted in a contrasting color. I gravitate towards greys with less blue and more brown in them. '

8. Layer greys with beige and brown

If you're fortunate enough to have a space flooded with light from large windows then decorating with white is a great way to enhance the light and airy feeling, however an all-white scheme can lack warmth.

In this space by MV architects the a wooden floor in a honeyed tone helps warm up the space while furnishings and accessories in grey, taupe, oat and tan all combine to bring depth and interest.

9. Add texture with natural materials

When decorating with neutrals it's important to introduce plenty of texture to prevent the scheme feeling austere, and furnishing with natural materials can be a brilliant way to do this.

In this farmhouse living room, interior designer Julia Dempster has paired a chunky wool rug and a relaxed grey sofa in charcoal linen with wooden sculptural bowls to create a rustic feel. To finish the space Julia has added a selection of antiques to bring further character.

'In this living area I selected textural pieces such as a 3D Juju hat made of feathers from St. Frank and vintage tribal handwoven baskets from Fragments of Identity,' says Julia Dempster .

'The architectural features were curved, and I wanted the artwork emphasize the architectural elements, the three pieces were selected to reflect both the wall and the colors and textures within the sisal rug and the cushions on the sofa.'

10. Choose a grey and white wallpaper

Whether used wall-to-wall, or as single feature wall, patterned wallpapers are a wonderful way to bring interest to a grey and white living room.

A large scale floral or statement mural is guaranteed to make an impact, but for something that's easier to live with you can't go wrong with a living room wallpaper in a stripe, plus it will endure across the years.

11. Pair grey and white with navy for a smart look

A versatile and tranquil color, blue is a popular accent color for grey and white living rooms. While blue together with grey and white often conjure coastal decor ideas, the palette can be used to evoke a smart and sophisticated look. In this blue and grey living room, interior designer Joanna wood has combined layers of grey with deep navy velvet and glossy finished to achieve a luxe feel.

'French doors call for light and bright colors but we wanted to add some darker tones to keep the room warm. I love navy with grey and there's something about a velvet sofa that is so luxurious,' says Joanna Wood .

'If you've got paler colors on the walls and ceiling and color on the floor then have some tall table lamps so that the room doesn't seem split in half.'

How do you add warmth to a grey and white living room?

There are many ways to add warmth to a grey and white living room, from adding warm accent colors such as reds and terracottas to the addition of textural materials, cozy rugs and ambient living room lighting.

'However, to bring a feeling of warmth to a living room the best place to start is to think carefully about the shade of white or grey you use on the walls, as the tone can have a big impact on the feel of the space,' advises Dominic Myland, director of Mylands paints .

'Shades of white can range enormously, from a bright, brilliant white like Pure White No. 1 to a warmer shade with hints of yellow or orange like Whitehall No. 9, and so choosing the right white is an important decision.'

'South-facing rooms with plenty of light can take cooler whites with their undertones of blue or green, like Greenwich Time No. 8, but we recommend warmer whites for darker, north-facing rooms. We always advise testing paint choices in situ first to see how they appear in different lights throughout the day.'

A good lighting scheme can instantly lift the atmosphere of a monochrome space making it feel instantly warmer.

'Don’t forget the lighting, as this too plays a big part in a white room, says Simon Temprell, interior design manager at Neptune . 'Choose a light bulb color temperature of 2700K and it will draw out the warmer shades, making it feel inviting and cozy.'

What colors go best with grey and white?

As neutral colors grey and white make easy colors to decorate with as they pair brilliantly with many other shades on the color wheel. When paired with different colors, grey and white can be used to create all manner of different looks.

Combining light shades of grey and white with muted natural tones of beige, stone, cream and off-white is a brilliant way to create a calming, laid-back feel. Alternatively, consider pairing grey and white with bold colors like acid yellow, red or teal for a more energizing and dramatic look.

Grey white and navy is a great way to create a smart and sophisticated look, palette of grey, white and blue is a perfect base for cool coastal living room ideas.

'Combining light and airy blues and greys also works effectively to create an elegant and sophisticated look that is soothing. The brighter shades and muted hues help create a calming space that can be updated time and time again with more affordable accessories to refresh the look,' says Emma Deterding, founder and creative director, Kelling Designs and KDLoves . 'You can add texture and dimension to this by layering light and airy linens and natural textures that pay homage to the nautical look. '

Primary colors such as yellow, red and blue can work well with grey and white if you're looking to create a mid-century modern decor scheme, alternatively, for an elegant and feminine scheme you can't go wrong with pairing grey and white with blush pink or soft lilac.

How does it look in different styles?

Some examples of interior design.

Scandinavian style

Northern European design is mostly done in light gray shades, which are diluted with pure white tones and bleached wood details. Folk decor in the form of woven rugs, knitted textiles or patchwork elements is chosen as bright inclusions.

Loft

In the industrial style, the gray palette occupies most of the space. Achromatic shades are found in concrete walls, cheap silicate brickwork, hog tiles, metal pipes and other communications. Thanks to the huge window openings, such an environment looks free and spacious.

Minimalism

This trend is almost impossible to imagine without a gray color palette. Minimalism involves the use of warm and light gray tones as cladding, sofa upholstery, furniture elements and more.

The photo shows a minimalist design of the kitchen in shades of gray.

Hi-tech

For hi-tech, mostly mirrored or plain textures in gray are appropriate. A technological design solution is emphasized by silver or dark gray colors.

Classic

In a calm and discreet classic interior, gray is equally well suited for wall decoration, furniture items, textiles or fittings. Luxurious furniture, subdued lighting and expensive decor will perfectly match the granite or gray-blue color scheme.

How to put the bed correctly?

In the interior of a gray-white bedroom in relation to the door

Competent design of a bedroom in gray-white tones begins with the arrangement of furniture in it, in other words, a well-thought-out design project is important. And the bedroom in gray-white color begins with the main element - the bed, which is important to correctly place in the room.

As a specialist, I adhere to the following rule - a bedroom in gray and white does not provide for setting up a bed in a draft. The main thing is that she does not stand on a straight line going from the window to the doorway. Another point is if the room itself is small in size and it is simply not possible to fulfill this condition. Therefore, it is important that the streams of cold do not go along the upper part of the body sleeping on the bed.

So the gray and white bedroom and its design begins with a functional interior. And that is why it is so important to first make a list of the furniture that will be in it and how it will be arranged, after that they will decide on the style and color, decoration itself.

1. The most optimal position is in a small bed room - here cold streams will go along the bottom of a sleeping person.

2. Not the best position in an ordinary bed room - the cold will go through the body of the sleeper.

3. Worst bed position. And then everyone will be sleeping on the currents of the draft.

Bedroom bed . If you have a 2-bed place, it is best to leave such a bed so that access to it is open from three sides, and at least the width of the passage is 60 - 80 cm.

Wardrobe or walk-in closet?

In the layout of a comfortable bedroom in gray and white tones

Many of my clients know how to perceive the interior of an apartment with a wardrobe in the bedroom. But today, many of my clients who have a gray bedroom with white furniture contain a dressing room. But how much more convenient it is than a closet and can only put a closet - I will tell you further about all the pros and cons of such a decision.

If we talk about placing a dressing room in the bedroom, the following points can be called pluses. And the first is that a hinged door, like a modular storage system, is an order of magnitude cheaper than a wardrobe with a nice custom-made facade. And from the outside, the dressing room will look much neater, more aesthetic than, for example, a closet. And as always, it will fit perfectly on an area of 18-2 sq m

If we talk about the minuses, then it will take a lot of usable space in the bedroom, whose area is less than 16 square meters, but its useful volume is equal to the area of the closet. Yes, and in the dressing room itself is very difficult to put things in order. And due to the fact that when it is installed in the bedroom, such a corridor comes out - not all users may like it.

1. In the bedroom, whose area is less than 14 square meters, it is simply unprofitable to put the dressing room itself. Its useful area is similar to that of the cabinet itself. And due to the installation of a dressing room, the room becomes tiny in itself, and the passage will be narrow.

2. If the bedroom is 16 square meters, the dressing room will look great, looks harmonious and the approach to it is quite convenient.

3. When the shape of the room is long and narrow, it is optimal to place the dressing room itself as well as elongated. And it is optimal if it has a storage system located in the format of the letter P.

4. With a room area of 18 or more square meters, the dressing room is simply designed for it. And here it is also worth remembering that it is best to place a modular storage system in the shape of the letter P.

Even at the stage of drawing up a design project, it is worth considering the lighting itself for the interior of the cabinet - it will automatically turn on when the door is opened. This is very, very convenient.

Dressing room in the bedroom . In this bedroom of 18 sq m, our designers used an invisible door - it is finished with the same materials, in tone, as the walls around.

Lots of wardrobes in the bedroom

Where else to store things in the bedroom?

  1. Chest of drawers . It is often placed against the bed. And here it is convenient to store all the bedding used daily in the bedroom.
  2. Bedside tables . Reading a book or a magazine, putting a charger under your phone, or your medicines - all this should be placed nearby, for example, on a bedside table.
  3. Underbed space . Sometimes my clients opt for a bed equipped with a lifting mechanism. It is so convenient to store all bedding under the mattress itself. But if the bed itself does not have such a mechanism, just buy drawers and put bedding in them, and after that, slide it under the bed if it is on high legs.
  4. Dressing table . An important element on the dressing table are the drawers in which women store their beauty supplies. And not a mirror, as many might think.

Bedroom storage . Storage space in the bedroom. And here we placed the chest of drawers directly at the window opening - this technique helped to visually reduce the length of the room, while covering such an ugly heating battery. Beautiful and functional - everything is collected in such a solution.

Where is the correct way to open the door?

Inside the bedroom or outside the gray and white bedroom?

The opening of the door is provided at the design stage of the house. But if you need to change the direction of opening the door? But the main thing is that when opening the door leaf does not interfere with the exit from the bedroom. As practice shows, in the living room - the door goes inward when opened, in the toilet or wardrobe - outward. But such a layout is more a practice than a rule, therefore it is always worth considering the best option for opening the door for yourself.

1. The best solution - the door does not interfere with walking.

2. The door is opened correctly - here the canvas will also not interfere with free movement.

3. Wrong decision - blocked traffic along path A.

4. Worst choice - the door blocked traffic in both directions.

When ordering a door to the bedroom - do not forget about the lock to lock it from the inside, and also put a limiter - it will help protect walls and furniture from door strikes.

Bedroom air conditioner

Where is the best place to place it?

There is a lot of controversy regarding the air conditioner in the bedroom. So all supporters of its establishment put the block in the most prominent place, and often this very place is the head of the bed. On the other side of the barricades, we, the designers, are standing – we are trying with all our might to hide the unpresentable unit of the system. And the most optimal place is the space above the front door.

And with this option, the owners of the apartment themselves may protest, because with this installation option it is necessary to lay a strobe - all communications will be hidden in it. And this is an additional financial cost, because the installers ask for huge sums for this.

But in any case, we all have one thing in common - the air currents should not blow directly on the person lying on the bed. And therefore, the worst of the installation places is the space opposite the bed.

1. The right place to mount the unit - beauty and functionality are combined here.

2. Good location of the air conditioning unit. Especially if the owners themselves put functionality in the first place.

3. Not the best option in choosing a place for mounting the unit - here the cold streams will go to people sleeping on the bed.

4. The most idiotic location of the split-system unit for me. Here, too, cold streams from the air conditioner will go to those sleeping on the bed.

Air conditioner above the door . By the way, it is worth mounting the block above the doorway if the height of the ceiling itself is at least 2.6 meters, otherwise it simply will not.

Sockets

Making a competent design of a gray bedroom with white furniture

Agree, if there are not enough such necessary sockets in your own bedroom, it is certainly not comfortable and inconvenient. With regard to the optimal number of outlets - the norm is 10-15 pieces, no less. Put your own mobile phone on charge, connect an ionizer or a New Year's garland. All this involves the use of all the same outlets.

With all this, sockets should be located exactly where you will definitely need them. And therefore, think in advance at the repair stage - what and where you will connect in the bedroom, how much and based on this, plan the number and installation locations of outlets.

Here it is important to make your own list of appliances installed in the bedroom, and for each of them, allocate an outlet. Do not forget about additional bedroom outlets, which may also be needed in the future. You may need them in the future, keep this rule in mind so that later you do not call an electrician and think about where and how to attach an additional outlet to connect this or that device.

Lighting

Creating a mood in a gray and white bedroom interior

Many people ask me the question - Do I need a chandelier in my bedroom? But, in my opinion, the question is not well-posed. It is worth posing the question differently - what kind of lamps, on a par with a chandelier, should be put? And all because the chandelier, as the main source of light, performs only a certain part of the tasks. Just imagine for a moment how you, wrapped in a warm blanket, scroll through Instagram, and all this by the light of not a chandelier, but a night lamp or a lamp. You can probably feel the difference right away.

Optimally, if the bedroom will provide for all types, each group of lighting - this will eventually create in the room the mood and lighting that are needed at the moment. This is perfect for any situation in life.

Bedroom mirror

Where is the best place to place it?

There are a lot of unfounded rumors and superstitions around this object in the interior - a mirror. And even if the user does not believe in omens too much, according to my practice, even such realists try not to put the mirror in the wrong place. But for me it's some nonsense. Therefore, I would like to soberly and judiciously look at the situation itself.

What are the reasons why a mirror should not be placed so that it reflects the bed. And the first thing is that few people want to see their messy head and wrinkled face in the morning. We are not in Hollywood, where actors get up in the morning with professional makeup and hair. Also, few people want to see their own sexual games in the reflection - a spectacle for me as an amateur.

Because, as for me, the mirror itself should be placed so that you can look into it without leaving the closet, when trying on outfits. All this will make the interior thoughtful and eliminate all superstitions, as well as piquant situations.

Bedroom mirror . In this version, the mirror has several fundamental functions. So it is very comfortable to look at when applying makeup. And the mirror itself is part of the harmoniously thought-out design of the head of the bed, plus it allows you to visually expand the space itself.

Bedroom with a balcony

Planning nuances

Perhaps you have thought more than once about how to combine the bedroom and the balcony with each other - it is enough to dismantle the partition itself, the window and the balcony door. But do not rush things and make such repairs - this event is not a legal procedure and no one will give you permission for it. But it is possible to insulate the balcony room itself, its walls and floor, the ceiling, using it as an additional area. Nobody will disturb you here. Even in this version, it will be cool on the balcony. That is why it is so important to think about installing heating radiators or installing underfloor heating, as well as installing 3-chamber window frames.

Balcony in bedroom . Often, many of my customers use the very space of the balcony as a recreation area, however, more and more - they use it directly for storing inventory, drying clothes.

To the bathroom from the bedroom

Pros and cons of such a layout

In my own practice as a designer, for example, I have more than once encountered a situation in which I encountered such a trend in the layout - the entrance to the toilet comes from the bedroom. And many could observe such a solution directly in foreign hotel rooms. It will be appropriate and convenient, since there is no need to go through a common corridor to the bathroom. Our architects also decided to adopt this technique, but as for me, the issue is rather controversial. What are the pros and cons of such a layout - I will tell further.

Speaking specifically about the pluses - there is no need to go into the hallway to get to the bathroom. Yes, and it will be your personal toilet, no one will use it. If we talk specifically about the minuses - at night, sounds and smells, and just light will get into the bedroom, they can wake up a partner. Yes, and this is not always convenient, because the door does not shield all sounds.

Workplace

How to fit into the design of a gray bedroom with white furniture?

Everyone who often takes a job, or works completely at home, in their own apartment, always dreams of a separate, own office. But the truth is, few people can afford it - just stand out a room for a desktop with a computer. So practically the very workplace in the house is organized by many, wherever possible, and simply in a variety of places. These can be places directly in the living room or on the balcony, even in your own bedroom in the place where the bedside table stands. It is about this option that we will talk further.

1. In a small bedroom, you can place a computer desk in the place where there is a bedside table.

2. If the bedroom itself is rectangular or oblong, it is best to organize a workplace near the window.

3. The bedroom has a square shape of the room - it is best to place the table in front of the bed itself.

Workstation in the bedroom . It is optimal if the depth of the table for working on a laptop is 50-60 cm, the computer - 60 - 70 cm. This will allow you to work comfortably without limiting yourself to a minimum of space.

Bedroom with baby cot

Where to put in a small bedroom in gray and white?

Regarding the placement of a crib for a child in a bedroom, there are a lot of subtleties and nuances in this matter. And here there is already an unequivocal answer - which is correct, where it simply does not exist. The child is small - put his crib next to the parent's bed. At the same time, for greater convenience, it is worth removing the fence on one side. According to the standard, the baby crib has dimensions of 70 by 130 cm, so it can easily get up in one pass. In all other cases, the main thing is to follow this principle - it should not stand in a draft or fall under the direct sun.

TV in the bedroom

A few practical tips

Placement of the TV in the bedroom has nothing to do with fashion or certain newfangled trends in interior design. This is rather due to the lifestyle of the owners themselves. And that is why many today refuse television, and set up a telly to watch films.

An important point is that the TV itself in the bedroom is placed at a great height from the floor. If in the living room they put a TV set at a height of a meter from the pier to the middle of the screen, then in the bedroom - at least 1.35 m, which is easy to watch your favorite film in a lying position.

Also, many of my users install a projector instead of a TV. Along with the projector itself, it is worth considering a competent location for the screen itself, which has an electric drive. If you are not satisfied with the quality of the TV or the projector, the sound level, you can install a sound bar or sound bar in the house. And for the bedroom, this is the most correct possible solution - the panel will help to improve the quality and strength of the sound at times, but at the same time it does not take up much space. Yes, and it costs a little, there is no need to install complex wiring.

TV in bedroom . In a small bedroom, you can also place a TV on the wall, fixing it with the help of special, swivel mounts - brackets. So it will take up less space, and it’s easier to clean, as needed, you can turn it in the right direction. The main thing to remember is that inexpensive models of mounts have a weight limit on the TV itself.

As my practice shows, if a client makes repairs himself, he often encounters one of the most common mistakes. Often, many simply forget to provide a cable - a channel for the wires that power the TV or projector, which just hang down like snot. Ugly.

Modern style

in the design of the bedroom in gray and white

According to the statistics of our designers, almost half of the projects are designed in this style, which is often called modern. Personally, it cannot surprise me in any way why it is so popular in the modern world. The simplicity and conciseness of all lines in the interior, forms understandable to all customers and affordable, and most importantly durable materials - all this is present in this style. Especially this style will appeal to those who put functionality in the first place in design, in the house - only practicality.

But, with all the visual simplicity - not every user on their own can correctly make this style in the house. It is here that you need good taste and undoubtedly experience.

Contemporary style bedroom . White-beige, with blue notes gamma is the best and win-win option when decorating a bedroom in a modern style. But defining a color palette for yourself in style is half the battle, the main thing is to correctly place accents, colors, which is already attributed to the prerogative of professionals.

By the way!

Popular ideas in modern style

In the modern style of the bedroom, its interior is often dominated by white and beige, as well as light gray. When you need to talk about the details - it's dark - gray, less often black tones. With regard to flooring, the most popular is laminate - it is practical, beautiful and, most importantly, affordable.

So roller blinds in a modern bedroom - they help to perfectly protect from the morning sun, and they cost several times lower than curtains. A classic in the interior of a modern bedroom is an installed wardrobe - compartment. Although, recently its popularity among my clients has been falling, because over the past 20 years its appearance has remained unchanged. And many designers are trying to find an alternative replacement for it - a wardrobe or cabinets, but with hinged doors.

A very interesting detail in the interior is that few in the bedroom refuse to mount the chandelier itself on the ceiling. Say, they are afraid that at one fine moment it may fall on their heads, when the latter will sleep peacefully and soundly. But this does not mean in any way that the bed must be searched for by touch, in pitch darkness, because the chandelier itself can be changed, but it is best to supplement it with local, decorative lamps and lighting.

Over the past few years, many of my customers have opted for beds with upholstered headboards. And it is I who is also included in the list of these admirers of just such a variant of bed design. Also, in a modern style, more and more of my clients want to see wallpapers ready on the walls in the interior of the bedroom, always with an unobtrusive pattern. They look an order of magnitude prettier and cozier than just walls going for painting.

Lots of modern bedrooms!

Neoclassical

in the interior of a gray-white bedroom

Many of my clients, having tried new styles for themselves, modern or loft, Scandinavian, began to look for something more comfortable, so to speak, sincerity. And therefore, further I will tell you the main techniques used in neoclassicism.

Neoclassical bedroom . Just look how this bedroom turned out - it is filled with light and lightness. And all due to the fact that it is dominated by light, pale blue shades.

Neoclassical, just like classic, in the bedroom interior also puts the main emphasis on symmetry - in the arrangement of furniture, as well as decor, creating a sense of balance and solidity around. Plus, in neoclassicism, designers also use stucco - cornices and moldings, as we adore these elements in design and use them with pleasure in our projects.

Neoclassic as an interior style always involves the use of only natural materials in decoration. Well, or those who outwardly strive for this notorious naturalness. On the floor, a parquet board or parquet from an array is chosen, stucco molding is plaster, wallpaper is only paper, but the furniture itself is wood. This also applies to textiles - cotton or linen, wool, which also form the basis of the neoclassical interior. With regard to prints, it is optimal to use floral or geometric ornaments. And it is they who will help create an original and presentable design in the interior.

Beautiful wallpaper

For gray and white bedroom interior

Bedroom wallpaper . It would seem that what wallpaper can do, and even in a small flower in a modern interior? But with the help of just one roll, you can radically change the whole atmosphere, even more precisely, the mood in the very interior of the bedroom.

Laminate or parquet

Which is better for a bedroom in gray and white?

Of course, it is optimal to lay only parquet in the room - it is always a noble, natural wood. And so, simply without thinking, probably, each of our clients will say. But why, for what reasons, many buyers choose laminate flooring. Because high-quality laminate is practical and durable, resistant directly to chipping and impact, does not require moisture maintenance like parquet.

But another important point for many is the cost, since the laminate itself is 2 times cheaper in cost than a parquet board, and solid parquet will cost 3-5 times more. And accordingly, you already understand which gender many users will choose. For example, if you have a standard layout of a 2-room apartment - you will have to buy a laminate for 60,000, but for a parquet board - for all 120,000. technology, namely floating. On the leveled floor screed, the masters put a special substrate of 2-3 mm, the floor covering is already laid on top. But already the parquet array will have to be nailed to plywood, the latter is screwed to the floor screed. And here, too, the benefit to the user in choosing a laminate will be obvious - this is both the cost of the material itself and the work carried out by the masters.

What to combine with?

What exactly should the skirting board be combined with in the bedroom? The issue is very painful and sore for those who carry out repairs on their own. And here my readers will upset you - there is simply no ideal and universal solution. But in order to understand the ideal, with what and how to combine it, I will tell you about the main variations, when and how certain skirting boards are used.

Bedroom skirting board . A high skirting board in the interior itself looks more beautiful than a low one, and therefore our designers use skirting boards with a height of 100 - 140 mm.

Bedroom ceilings

Stretch or plaster?

The question of ceilings is the most requested in the discussions on the net, and you can find a lot of articles on the net. For example, our materials also include a detailed article about ceilings with tips from our leading designers. But then just talk about the ceilings in the bedroom.

Comfort in the bedroom

Textiles and decor

Do not skip this section. And all because many of my clients simply ignore the decor, take it for granted - they bought a painting on vacation or presented a bed for a wedding, they brought a familiar trinket. These moments are familiar to you. But textiles, decor - they all form a common idea, the atmosphere in the interior. The main thing is that they are carefully thought out so that the bedroom does not look cheap.

  1. Carpets. No, we are not talking about the carpet on the wall. Carpet is a powerful tool for zoning. And in the bedroom, a bed standing on a carpet, the edges of which protrude 60 centimeters beyond its limits, is a luxurious option. Just think about how good it is to get up in the morning not on a cold floor, but on a fluffy carpet...
  2. Curtains. Curtains for the bedroom should be chosen as dense as possible, so as not to let the bright morning light of the sun into the room. And often our designers combine curtains and roller blinds that are familiar to many - this way shading goes better.
  3. Bed linen. If you look through modern fashion catalogs or magazines, you will definitely not find bed sets with giant flowers anywhere, and indeed any photo image. Today it is bad manners. As well as a set of bright, acid colors, like a zebra or leopard coloring book, which can be left in an old apartment without a twinge of conscience. So in a new bedroom, you should choose sets of neutral colors, for example, plain colors that will harmoniously fit into the overall interior of the room.
  4. Blanket, plaid. Poorly selected bedspread in the interior of the bedroom can negate even a well-thought-out design. If you do not have enough experience in choosing textiles - stop choosing neutral tones, for example, 1-2 darker or lighter than the walls. It will be a win-win.
  5. Decorative cushions. Usually, many simply do not know where exactly to put the decorative pillows themselves at night in the bedroom. And because they are simply not in this room and for nothing. Therefore, it is worthwhile to provide in advance a place for storing decorative pillows for the night, as well as a blanket, bedspreads and other bedding. And, by means of several interchangeable covers, you can successfully bring some variety into the interior without radically changing the interior itself.
  6. Pictures and posters. This is a very individual section in interior decor. It is important that the very image of the paintings evoked pleasant emotions among the inhabitants of the room, a positive feeling of comfort and coziness. These can be paintings or photographs, even just a daub - the image does not always have to carry some specific message, meaning.
  7. Watches, vases and candles. Remember that every detail in the room also has its own style - this is exactly the option in which a small drop of tar falls into a barrel of honey. You will definitely not see plates from Egypt in the interior of a modern bedroom.

By the way, collections of little elephants or monkeys brought from the United Arab Emirates, a bought picture or photo frame brought from a trip, cool souvenirs from friends – this is the so-called visual garbage. It kind of clutters up the space itself, steals your air and thoughts - a minimum of such trifles in the interior.

Bedroom curtains . We often use curtains in the interior, with the help of which we curtain the windows - this is not only a practical solution, but also a way to create coziness and beauty in the room. But at the same time, it is worth remembering that for additional protection from the sun, you can use roller blinds / Roman blinds. This creates the very design of the window as comfortable and thoughtful as possible.
