Outdoor activities, perhaps depending on the weather, can be a fun and active way to celebrate the special day. There are many options for 40th Birthday Party ideas that involve spending time in the beautiful outdoors. Find one you like!

1. BBQ

If you remain in a state of mind to easily unwind as well as delight in the attractive weather condition with your friends and family, then what better option than the good old barbecue. Preparing scrumptious food with a wonderful family around you sounds like a promising birthday party idea for adults. Consider adding 80s music by the legends while enjoying the food and your company. You might like to join in on some good ole' sing-alongs to those classics.

Grill up some hotdogs and burgers, and pair with chips and a cold beer. Decorate with some red and white checkered plates or tablecloths. Set up the lawn games such as bean bag toss, croquet, and horseshoes to keep yourself and your guests entertained. Chill out and enjoy your special day spent with family and friends. There's so much fun to be had!

2. Picnic

Are you interested in an outdoor event that consists of delicious food, yet the grill is simply not your forte? You can organize a barbecue where you bring some homemade food and drinks and just delight in nature on a picnic. If you have a buddy that is musically talented (or if you are that close friend!) they can bring a guitar as well as play some of your preferred songs. Some picnic blankets are reusable and waterproof so you can use one again and again!

3. Hiking

If you feel energetic, hiking is one of the healthiest ways to spend your birthday. Not only will hiking reduce stress and anxiety, but you will also get to explore nature. When hiking, be sure to be prepared and don't go empty-handed. Large reusable water bottles for refilling are a must, but also consider a hiking backpack or even a walking stick.

4. Beach

If you are lucky to have your birthday in the summer, then you can go to the beach hotel. You get to enjoy the beach and will enjoy your stay in a hotel. What else can you ask for? You can even bring the BBQ to the beach in some places or pack food for everyone to enjoy on the beach. Listen to local music or head to the beach shops downtown for gifts! Don't forget to get some beach towels so everyone has a place to sit, tan, eat, read, and enjoy each other's company!

5. Concert

Now with the comfort of your home, most concerts can be seen online. Stay with your friend and have a movie night to go to a concert virtually! Listening to live music with special effects digitally will be a blast. Or head to a live show! Get comfortable on the couch with lots of snacks, maybe some takeaway, and of course, a music blanket to snuggle under.

6. Fishing

If your happy place is on a boat or enjoying a nice day fishing, this theme will be sure to get you excited about your birthday party. Set up a sign that says “Gone Fishin,’” and decorate with plenty of fish and hook decorations and red and white buoy balloons. Set up a snack bar with Swedish fish, goldfish, and beef jerky. Prepare your favorite seafood dish and your cake of choice. Make sure you have your best fishing pole as well - you'll need it!

7. Golf

If the golf course is your happy place, this is the perfect theme to celebrate your special day. Set up green tablecloths and fill golf buckets with plenty of golf balls as centerpieces. Set up a banner that says “Welcome to the Par-Tee!”. Easily make a golf cake by decorating your cake with green frosting and inserting a flag toothpick on top.  How nice!

8. Spa Day

It is finally your birthday celebration as well as you just desire to unwind and also pamper yourself. Maybe you could have a massage, face, manicure, pedicure, or all of it! Well, you deserve it. Many medical spa facilities use birthday packages, so you can bring a few of your good friends with you. This is the perfect way to feel 40 and fabulous! You could also pay someone to come to your home for your at-home spa with friends. Or buy supplies for a pamper party.

9. Wine and Cheese Tasting

Cheese as well as red wine complement each other and also develop the best harmony. Your detects are, for sure, most likely thanks for this experience. You can find a place in your city or nearby where they organize this type of tastings or you could also organize it at your own house with a lovely charcuterie board. Create your own with cheese, grapes, crackers, deli meats, and other fruit arranged artfully. It's a lot of fun creating them and guests can eat from a variety to help you celebrate your 40th bday!

to celebrate or not and why is it considered that it is impossible?

The closer the fortieth birthday, the more urgent the question: is it worth celebrating this holiday? There are enough reasons for doubt, because there are a lot of signs and superstitions associated with this event.

We will tell you why many do not celebrate their 40th birthday, and what to do if you still want to celebrate your birthday.

Contents

  • Reasons for not celebrating 40 years
  • Why don't women celebrate
  • Why men don't celebrate
  • If you believe in omens but want to celebrate
  • Holiday options for those who do not believe in any signs

5 reasons why the anniversary is not celebrated

Let's say right away: there are no rational grounds for refusing the holiday. Not celebrating forty years is like being afraid of a black cat that has crossed the road. However, people continue to be wary of the number 40. There are several reasons for this.

Reason No. 1. Biblical

If we turn to the Bible, then many events are associated with the number 40. For example:

Believers are afraid of this number, so the 40th anniversary is not celebrated.

Reason No. 2. A guardian angel leaves a person

There is a legend that a guardian angel accompanies a person only until the age of 40, and then leaves him. Having exchanged the fifth decade, we lose the protection of higher powers, but gain life wisdom that allows us to make informed decisions.

Reason No. 3. Astrological

Astrologers have their own answer to the question why it is impossible to celebrate 40 years. They are sure that the 40-year milestone is a crisis period. From 39up to 43 years, a person is accompanied by Uranus - a heavy planet that can provoke not the most pleasant changes in life. Astrologers believe that the period of Uranus is associated with illness, family breakdown, bankruptcy, and confusing life situations.

Reason No. 4. Tarot cards

If you get a four while reading Tarot cards, then don't expect anything good. This is a symbol of death. The number 40 has the same meaning.

Reason number 5. Asian option

The number four is also perceived negatively by residents of Asian countries. The four is considered a symbol of evil and misfortune, therefore, in some states of Central and East Asia, the number five immediately follows the three. There are no apartments at number four in the houses, there is no fourth floor, there are no fourth transport routes.

But none of the above reasons is a direct reason for refusing to celebrate the 40th anniversary.

Why don't they celebrate a woman's 40th birthday

The fifth decade for a woman is not the easiest time. Nature takes its toll: wrinkles appear, well-being and mood are not always at their best. Superstitious people believe that the celebration of the 40th anniversary can adversely affect the state of the female body, take away vital energy. But in the modern world, you should not be afraid of this: it is enough for a woman to take care of herself, go in for sports and visit a beautician in order to remain young and beautiful for a long time.

Why men should not celebrate 40 years

The representatives of the stronger sex are also not recommended to celebrate their 40th anniversary, so as not to bring bad luck and health problems. Many people think that higher powers punish men for celebrating an anniversary.

Superstition was confirmed by the story of an astronaut who went into orbit after his 40th birthday. As soon as the spacecraft took off, a sudden malfunction arose in its operation, which caused the crash. The astronaut did not survive. So an accidental coincidence became another reason for fears.

Interestingly, the Orthodox Church does not forbid either men or women from celebrating their 40th birthday. Priests consider the refusal of the holiday to be a manifestation of human fear. Also, the church condemns any superstition. The clergy are sure that even the celebration of 33 years (the age of the death of Jesus Christ) will not bring troubles and misfortunes.

If you can’t celebrate, but you really want to

If you believe in signs and superstitions, but you still really want to celebrate your birthday with friends or relatives, there are several options for how to do it.

  1. Do not celebrate "to the same day", but move the holiday to another, later date.
  2. To celebrate not the onset of 40 years of age, but, for example, farewell to the 39th year of life.
  3. Remove any mention of the number 40. No balloons with numbers, cards, congratulations on the 40th anniversary.

Another unusual option is to look at any calendar of events and find out what other holidays are on your birthday. For example, October 26 is celebrated in Russia as Gymnastics Day, November 8 is KVN Day, and December 10 is World Football Day. Why not a reason to celebrate? Gather your friends and have an original themed party that everyone will remember.

And you can look for free venues for a birthday party right now.

How to celebrate 40 years for those who do not believe in signs

To celebrate the 40th anniversary or not - everyone decides for himself. If you do not believe in omens, but do not want to tempt fate once again, spend this day with your closest people. Those who consider superstitions to be stupid can safely gather friends and celebrate the holiday on an anniversary scale.

5 ideas where to celebrate 40 years in a close circle

Anniversaries in the circle of the closest ones are in no way inferior to noisy crowded parties. It is enough to find an unusual location and celebrate a holiday with your family or together with your closest person.

Art party

You can celebrate your 40th birthday creatively. How about painting a picture on this important day? An art party is a new way to entertain yourself and your guests, which has come to us from Europe.

The bottom line is that each guest draws a picture himself - with professional paints and on a real easel. At the same time, no preparation is needed - every step will be supervised by a professional artist. So you and your guests will have a fun memory and a masterpiece that you can take with you.

The best place for an easel party is a cozy bright space where you can bring your treat. For example, the Draw Up studio on Pokrovsky Boulevard. Here you can comfortably accommodate with easels, dance, take pictures, organize a buffet with wine and snacks.

The site will easily turn not only into a cinema hall, but also into a place for a private party. Light music, stage smoke, a game console and professional karaoke - there is everything for a fun holiday.

Romantic evening on the roof

Celebrating an anniversary together in an atmospheric loft with access to the roof - what could be more unusual? From here you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the botanical garden and the panoramas of Moscow. The observation deck on the roof is part of a large loft, so you can also use the rest of the space for your holiday. For example, to watch a romantic movie on the big screen or dance a slow dance to your favorite tune accompanied by light music.

You can also spend a holiday with your family at home. But then you have to run around the shops, cook, wash the dishes. It is much easier and more pleasant to rent a small loft and order the delivery of ready meals or invite catering. Just look at what a cozy room with a fireplace awaits you near the Dmitrovskaya metro station.

Here you can comfortably sit in an area with fluffy blankets and soft sofas and play Uno, Monopoly, Mafia or Jenga, and lay a festive table nearby. If you invite a photographer, then gorgeous family shots by the fireplace are guaranteed.

Competitions in nature (20 in one article): a fun birthday party for a child on a picnic | Holiday again!

Frankly speaking, it is quite difficult to hold such a holiday. First of all, , being in a picnic, the last thing children want to do is to play in an organized way - everyone has their own interesting business. Secondly , the organization of a children's holiday in nature requires certain physical data. For example, a loud voice :-).

If you still decide to gather guests for a picnic and are planning an entertainment program without having the temperament of a clown and the skills of an experienced animator, use my selection of contests.

I have chosen only those outdoor games and competitions that are the easiest to organize (most of them can be held with a minimum of 4 participants).

Here are more than 40 competitions and children's games that can be held on the street without special props.

ATTENTION!

ALL-ALL-ALL competitions for children (more than 200) I have collected HERE!!!
Follow the link, you will be taken to the catalog, which contains games and entertainment by age. Many programs can be done on the street.

.
My quest scenarios are especially popular (free of charge):
.
• Country quest for children 6-10 years old (this is an ideal outdoor scenario for hot weather)
• Mystery of the underground bunker
• Ratouille culinary quest
• Treasures of the Egyptian princess
• Quest for princesses (6-8 years old)
• Quest based on the story by Conan Doyle "The Lost World"
• Tasks for self-compilation of quests
• Quest "Night at the Museum"
.
• There are also such funny contests for teenagers…

Throwers and scammers 🙂

I like this contest for its simplicity and objectivity in identifying the winner. It is easy to establish who hit the target more times.

Options:

  1. At a distance of 10 children's steps, hit the tree trunk with a cone. Each has, say, 10 attempts.
  2. Knock down any construction of dry twigs with a stick (let's call it "forest bast shoes").
  3. Place an empty pot (basin, bucket) at a distance of several steps. We compete in accuracy by throwing small rubber balls, toys or the same bumps there. If there is no empty container, just look for a hole in the ground.
  4. Tie a rope to a horizontal branch of a tree so that its end reaches the ground. We tie a small bag with a ball (cones, toys) to the lower end of the rope, if only it was some kind of harmless "weight". Players pick up a "weight" and move a few steps to the side. You need to shoot down objects that are at some distance from the center. Here is the drawing.
  5. Another version of the previous game. You need to choose a leader who will swing the “pendulum”, and things (bottles, juice boxes, sticks, pebbles, toys) need to be folded in the center. Players need to have time to run up and pick up the item before the “pendulum” returns.
  6. Make a fishing rod. Tie a rope with a weight at the end to a stick 1.5 - 2 meters. With this weight, you need to knock down small objects at a distance slightly greater than the length of the stick, swinging the rope.

Catching games

Bear

Arrange the toys, pots, bags and things you brought for the picnic in the clearing. Plant a bear in the center of this composition, draw a line on the ground at a distance of 5-7 steps, behind which there will be a “house”. The host shouts: "The bear woke up!". Children must save property and put it behind the line, and the bear can only catch the one who has nothing in his hands (at the moment when the child returns for things from the safe line). The one who collects the most things wins. And the bear becomes the player who was in the paws of the bear.

Short-legged chasers

The participants of the game will need to catch up and run away with an empty plastic bottle sandwiched between their knees.

Paints

Players line up. The leader turns away and steps back 5 steps.

- Knock knock?
- Who's there?
- I don't know myself.
Why did you come?
- For paint.
- For what?
- Behind the blue one!

Everyone who has this color on their clothes, holds on to this color with their hands and remains in place, the rest run away from the leader. The next one is driven by the one who was caught.

Duels

Duel with balls

Such a game will turn out to be fun in nature. Tie small balls to the right ankle of the players (string no more than 30 cm). Only 2 players participate in the duel. Hands are not involved, they need to be clasped behind the back in a lock. The winner is the one who manages to burst the winner's balloon with his foot. To the one who won, a new opponent comes with a ball on his leg. This continues until one player remains with a whole ball on his leg.

Knight's Tournament

If there is a relatively even and not thick log, you can fight with long thin balls. The winner must stand on a log.

Joke games

Obstacle train game

1 game stage.

Between the trees at a height of 30-40 cm stretch the rope in zigzags. All participants of the holiday get into the train one after another, holding on to the waist. To the music, the first player starts moving in small steps, choosing a difficult route. You need to step over the rope, go around the tree, and so on. It's just fun, especially if there are more than five participants.

Stage 2 of the game.

One of the players is taken aside and tightly blindfolded with a handkerchief. At this time, the rope must be removed, brought to the beginning of the route. And now the host tells you how to raise your leg, how many steps to go, where to turn. The player follows the commands, thinking that the rope has remained in place and diligently overcomes non-existent obstacles. Try it, it's fun!

Relay races:

Barbecue

Most suitable for an autumn picnic, as fallen leaves are needed. As usual, we divide the children into teams. We collect the leaves in advance. Determine the distance for running (no more than 6-7 meters). At the end of the route, put a skewer for each team (a stick on which you need to string a sheet). The player runs, strings a piece of paper on a stick, returns to the team. The winner is the team that, of course, will have the most luxurious barbecue by the time the cheerful children's song ends.

Jerboa

The distance of 5-7 meters and back must be overcome by holding the ball firmly between the knees. At the same time, cones, nuts or small pebbles can be attributed to the “mink”. The winning team is again revealed by the end of the song.

Coal

Divide the children into two teams. We collect small pebbles or cones according to the number of participants. Small juice boxes will do. It is necessary not only to run and put a piece of coal in the fire, but to move, tossing the object up slightly. It's an ember, it burns your hands! The team that puts down their fire the fastest wins.

Firemen

Hot weather game. Each team member has empty disposable cups. Teams need to be built in a line, right side to the direction of movement.

The last player in the line must have a full glass of water. On command, he pours water to his neighbor into an empty glass as carefully as possible, runs and becomes the first (always next to the previous participant). It is the turn of the one who now has a full glass of water. He also pours it to a neighbor. This is how you get to the target. The team with the most water left at the end of the relay wins.

On the mound

Everyone was running, they were tired. We sat down on a log…

Time for sedentary games and contests, which, by the way, are also very funny.

Conductor-tamer

The host divides the guests into groups (if there are few children, each gets a separate role). Let frogs, cows, dogs, cats, pigs, ducks, bees, sheep and so on appear on your holiday.

They will perform a birthday song to the tune of " Happy Birthday to You". First, everyone sings a line. The conductor points with a stick, and… mu-mu beee-beee….

And now all together!

The main thing is that there are no other vacationers nearby, as the choir turns out to be very solemn :-).

The fairy tale came to life

We take the simplest children's fairy tale. All guests get roles. Those who lacked the main characters become trees, the sun, clouds, wind.

“Masha and the Bear” is best suited for the forest. Just think about who you will give the role of hemp, because a bear will sit on it!

A crocodile at a picnic

One of the participants shows with gestures some object needed in nature, the rest guess. Matches, firewood, barbecue meat, a thermos, a backpack and a pump look fun in such a pantomime.

Scarecrow

It is necessary to tie two sticks in the form of a cross (the transverse one is shorter). Each team should receive such a blank. You need to make a garden (or forest) scarecrow from improvised materials - jackets, hats, buckets, garbage bags, bottles, etc. The team with the funniest scarecrow wins.

I appeal to all readers of the blog "It's a holiday again"! If you have proven ideas for a children's picnic party, please write in the comments. Let's collect the best outdoor contests for kids together!

Good luck!
