- The main features of the Art Nouveau garden
Modern is a style that does not have a historical basis, unlike the classics, the Renaissance and other trends that have developed under the influence of time, realities and embraced creativity in all its manifestations. It developed spontaneously and replaced eclecticism in the 19th–20th centuries.
In fact, Art Nouveau is an artificial direction, obvious in painting, for example, but it is almost impossible to make a pedantic description of a garden in this style: there are only fundamental features, and each of them is replete with its own nuances. This is an absolute plus, opening up the widest possibilities for designers and giving scope for imagination, freedom of creativity.
Conventionally, all style trends in landscape art can be divided into two polar categories: regular and landscape. The main idea of regular gardens is the subordination of nature by man, so geometry reigns in them - regular shapes, straight lines, angles, squares, circles, and so on.
Landscape gardens, on the contrary, are as close as possible to nature as such, untouched, so you cannot find symmetry, clarity of forms, and uniformity in them. The Art Nouveau garden is perhaps the most masterful. No wonder the second name of the style is Liberty (freedom).
The integrity of form and content is expressed in smooth lines, richness of shades, complex combinations, and a multitude of color nuances in the compositions. Here you will not find rigid geometric shapes and absolute symmetry, the lines will be curved, the ponds will have bizarre outlines, the paths will be ornate.
So, the main features of modern style in landscape design:
- Art Nouveau garden space will be as if transparent: the foreground will not interfere with seeing all the details of the rear. No ripples in the eyes, only harmony, natural and flawless.
- Nature, even in a garden, will depict itself: silhouettes of birds, insects, animals, plant motifs and, characteristically, mermaids, naiads and other fairy-tale characters of this kind.
- Weeping crowns of birches, willows, mountain ash are ideal for a modern garden.
- Smooth lines of garden elements and objects will be fluid: furniture, any structures, paths, etc. - all this will seem to have no corners.
- Creeping plants - there will be a lot of them! After all, creepers are one of the most recognizable pictorial elements of Art Nouveau.
- The palette of the garden will be unusually wide. This style is characterized by mixboards, in which poppy, peony, lily, iris and primrose are the soloists.
- Buildings in such a garden will only be impractical: no vegetable gardens, greenhouses, and in general anything that carries at least some functionality. Modern is a romantic style and any manifestation of everyday life is inappropriate here.
These are the main features of the Art Nouveau garden. As for the abundance of nuances, the designers of Casa Ricca are ready to offer a huge number of them, and all these nuances will be amazingly suitable: modern means freedom, and free choice is a rich choice.
