While they look great inside,  they look even better in your backyard. String lights add just the right amount of brightness to any setting.

For decorating your backyard, choose white LED Christmas lights over large bulbs.

They’re lighter, easier to set up, and WAY more energy efficient. A winning combination for illuminating your patio with a beautiful, ambient glow year-round — without driving up your energy bill.

IMPORTANT: We recommend setting up lights against the walls of your pool enclosure or home, far away from the water. It’s safer, faster, and reduces most of the hazards that come with stringing lights over the pool (possible electric shock, knocking them down when cleaning).

2. Underwater LED pool lighting

Looking to brighten up the inside of your swimming pool? Consider LED pool lights. They come in a variety of colors, offer quick installation, and drastically lower your energy bill. Especially if you’re replacing halogen or incandescent bulbs.

LED pool lights emit a cooler, brighter, and more vivid range of lighting. Lighting that can adapt to the occasion – whether you’re sitting poolside on a summer night sipping a drink, or lounging by the water for brunch.

Some LED pool lights can even change color, which helps you get festive for the holidays, or set the mood for warm, peaceful midnight swims.

12. Declutter, decrease

The easiest way to start landscaping around your pool is by reducing and decluttering. Or in other words, getting rid of all the stuff that doesn’t need to be there.

In the process of cleaning and clearing up junk, you’ll discover new opportunities for decorating the backyard. And you’ll probably even find a few things you can put to use.

So if you’re not quite sure where to start with your pool landscaping ideas, start by throwing away what you don’t need.

Unique Pool Landscaping Ideas – Forbes Home

There is nothing wrong with keeping your pool landscaping simple. But if you want a true oasis, turn to pool landscaping ideas that will help take your backyard to the next level. For truly gorgeous pool landscaping, dream bigger than a concrete walkway around the water. Instead imagine aromatic flowers, upgraded pavers, inviting seating areas and great lighting that will allow you to enjoy this close-to-home escape well into the night.

After all, “landscaping” doesn’t just describe greenery and rocks. For complete pool landscaping, aim to blend a combination of hardscaping and softscaping elements. By incorporating natural components, your pool will feel more like a true paradise than a concrete water pit.

1. Surround One Side of the Pool With Jungle-Inspired Plants

Getty

By incorporating lush plants around the perimeter of your pool, you’ll create a space that has you questioning if you’re in your backyard or on a tropical vacation. Finding the best varieties to plant will depend on your actual climate, but even pool owners in areas of the country that require hardier plants can get the same aesthetic with ferns, hostas and hibiscus. Some palms can even tolerate sub-zero temperatures.

2. Build a Rock Wall Along a Portion of the Pool

Getty

You can really enhance your pool’s landscaping by adding some elevated boulders around its edge. For the most custom look, rock can be incorporated directly into the design of the pool during construction. But even if you are retrofitting your landscaping to an existing pool, you can tap into this idea with both real or artificial boulders—including some that offer built-in speakers.

3. Add Built-In Planters for a Resort-Like Effect

Getty

Give you softscaping a focal point with eye-catching planters that are built directly into your landscaping. Great for showcasing blooming flowers, shrubs or even trees, built-in planters add an instant wow factor to your pool landscaping.

4. Create a Shaded Lounging Space

Getty

You’ll have it made in the shade with a poolside cabana space. The easiest and most inexpensive option is to add a sail shade and some lounging chairs. Or build a complete open-air pool house for an experience that tops many 5-star resorts.

5. Expand the Pool Decking Space with Xeriscaping

Getty

With pool landscaping, one of the biggest expenses is also one of the most essential expenses: Building or renovating a pool deck using stamped pavers costs an average of $7,000. By adding xeriscaping elements around a more narrow pool deck, you may be able to minimize costs while maximizing the Palm Springs-like vibe.

6. Space Out Concrete Pavers With Grass in Between

Getty

Sink your toes into some lush grass while adding some visual intrigue around your pool by adding a few inches of turf between concrete pavers around your pool. A look that is simultaneously modern and classic, this is a great pool landscaping idea to consider if you are redoing your pool decking.

7. Add a Raised Wooden Deck

Getty

Mixing materials for the pool decking space is a perfect way to add some interesting design elements to your pool landscaping. Adding a slightly elevated floating wood deck next to the pool is a good way to give the illusion of additional space. Add a patio table for the perfect poolside dining space.

8. Build a Waterfall Feature for a Tropical Escape

Getty

Adding a waterfall feature is a guaranteed way to make your pool landscaping feel more glamorous—and the project may not be as expensive as you would assume. On average, homeowners around the country can expect to pay $1,500 for a 12-foot, professionally installed rock waterfall.

9. Plant Flowers with Your Senses in Mind

Getty

Spending some time around the pool can be a complete sensory experience if you add aromatic blooms to the pool landscape design. With a microclimate of its own, you’ll want to do some research before planting new flowers or shrubs around your pool. However, some relatively safe bets for most climates include lavender and geraniums. Or grow your favorite flowers in pots to help extend the season.

If the pool is the go-to social gathering space for your house, create a more inviting evening hangout with a built-in firepit added to the poolside landscaping. It costs an average of $300 to $1,400 to have a propane-burning fire pit professionally installed, but can create some priceless entertaining experiences.

11.  Mix Up Some Drinks at a Poolside Bar

Getty

If you are building a pool, a swim-up bar can be included in the design. Or, if you are adding to your existing pool landscaping, consider building a freestanding combo bar and grilling space for the best dinner parties. And once you have the bar installed, all you need to find is someone willing to make the drinks.

12. Build Seating into the Hardscaping

Getty

Give people a seat at your next pool party with built-in benches around the pool decking or in the backyard area. An easy addition to any space where you need a retaining wall, the seating can make the whole pool landscaping feel more inviting, especially if you add some outdoor pillows or cushions.

13. Light It Up With Professionally Installed Lighting

Getty

A worthy upgrade to string lights or tiki torches, professionally installed lighting around your pool space will add some functional luxury to the landscaping. Whether you are building any poolside structures or simply need to add lighting, custom lighting can set your landscaping apart.

14. Go Minimalist for a Modern Aesthetic

Getty

With clean lines, a narrow pool deck and manicured turf, your pool landscaping can shine—without feeling fussy. This keeps the focus on the pool and lounging without requiring too much additional landscaping maintenance.

15. Upgrade the Pool Fencing

Getty

Even though pool fencing is first and foremost a matter of safety, that doesn’t mean it can’t also look great. Consider your overall landscaping style while selecting the best fencing for your pool space so that you can add to the aesthetic rather than distract from it.

90,000 pool on the site of the suburban house

Content

9000 9000 no one is surprised now. He is even at the dachas. But before installing the pool on the site, it is worth considering its location and design in advance so that this object looks organic. Only a well-made pool will perform on the site, in addition to a relaxing function, also decorative. In this article, we will consider design options for plots with a pool.

Types of swimming pools

At the moment it is possible to install a swimming pool on any plot of land. To do this, there are many options, among which stand out:

If summer residents mainly choose inflatable or prefabricated models that are easy to store in winter, then the owners of suburban areas decorate their possessions with stationary models. Such pools are more functional, but require a lot of additional equipment for normal functioning.

The stationary version of the pool can be made in any convenient place and have an unusual or classic shape. Such reservoirs serve for bathing for a long time, which is usually at least 10 years.

Production of a stationary pool at the site is carried out in two ways. This can be the installation of a polypropylene bowl in a prepared pit and the installation of thermal insulation or the concreting of the surface of the bottom and walls of the bowl and covering them with tiles.

But a stationary pool, as in the photo, has some drawbacks that can stop the owner of a country house. These are, for example, the duration and complexity of the installation work and the high cost of the entire structure, as well as the need for maintenance.

As an alternative, a prefabricated pool can be installed on the site, which is installed on the ground or dug into the pit. According to landscape designers, the second option is preferable, since in this case the appearance of the site does not deteriorate.

The shape of this tank can be round, rectangular, oval or square. In terms of operating time, such models are not inferior to stationary ones.

Location features

If the owner has a free area, then it's a sin not to arrange a modern swimming pool on it. If you create the landscape design of the site correctly, then the design will be able to convey the excellent taste of the owner.

Usually, the owners of a site with a sauna plan to place a pool next to it so that after the steam room they can refresh themselves, but this approach is not always correct. There are some rules when placing such an object on the site.

First of all, it should be noted that the pool is best located in the open space of the site, without shrubs, trees and other lush vegetation. From the side of decorativeness, of course, it would be good to place a pond surrounded by plants, but from the point of view of functionality and practicality, this is a gross mistake. In any case, leaves or needles will fly around from the trees, which will fall into the pool, and this greatly pollutes the water. As a result, the reservoir will have to be cleaned more often, which will increase maintenance costs. Also, in a shaded area of the site, the water will not be able to heat up to the optimum temperature. If you want to ennoble the pool a little, then you can plant low shrubs near it in a small amount.

The area for the pool must be flat, without relief. It is best to arrange it on a small hill so that you can admire the view of the surrounding landscape. If the surface has a slight slope, then this will be beneficial in organizing the drainage of water.

It is important to consider the level of groundwater on the site, since stationary pools with a bowl are installed only where groundwater is deep, as they will not spoil the bowl.

Important! The size of the pool is selected in accordance with the area of the site.

Be sure to take into account the climatic features of the area where the site is located. Where there is a short summer and rainy autumn, an open structure will be useless, since such a pool will not be possible to use for most of the year. In this case, either make a heated indoor structure or use inflatable models in the summer.

Now there are drugs that improve water filtration, so it is not necessary to install a complete system. In this case, the shape and location of the pool can be any.

Experts advise making ponds on a plot of regular shape. If the depth is large, then you can not do without a ladder. And the last point is the need to connect communications, and this is most convenient to do in the immediate vicinity of the house.

If there is not enough space on the site for the location of a rectangular pool, then a structure of arbitrary shape can be made, depending on the characteristics of the allocated area.

Sometimes extravagant versions of pools are made, which occupy almost the entire site. This option is shown in the photo below. In the middle of the water there are pavilions, to which bizarre bridges lead. Such designs are quite expensive during installation and maintenance, but they look amazing on a summer cottage or a suburban area.

In cases where the house is located on a hill, it is possible to create an infinity pool in the landscape. Such a design, in addition to a stunning opening view, also has practical significance - natural water filtration.

Creating a pool on the site

Before creating this water feature on the site, it is necessary to determine whether it will be decorative or swimming. For decorative ones, as a rule, the depth is small, while for swimming ones it ranges from 1.5 to 2.5 meters.

Tip! In the presence of small children, the pool is divided into 2 zones with different depths.

After determining the location and size, proceed to the preparation of the pit on the site. Its depth is made greater than that which will be by the pool. This is necessary so that you can equip a sand-gravel pillow. It is carried out at the bottom with a thickness of 20 cm and compacted.

After that, a metal mesh is laid out on the bottom and poured with concrete. After the solution has completely dried, geotextiles and polystyrene foam plates are laid out on the slab. From above waterproofing is made with a polyethylene film.

Sewerage, plumbing, filter and water heater are connected to the prepared excavation. If the project provides for lighting, then electricity is additionally provided.

Using a crane, a bowl is installed in the pit and connected to all communications. The space remaining between the walls of the pit and the bowl is filled with concrete.

Important! Concrete must be poured gradually and simultaneously with water into the pool so that the bowl does not deform in the future.

After the top layer of concrete has dried, all joints are sealed with sand.

The last stage is the decoration of the pool, which we will dwell on in more detail.

Decoration of the pool

You can decorate the pond in the landscape of the site as your fantasy requires. A common option is to create a flooring around the pool from a decking board. This area will be a great place to relax, where you can place garden furniture, sun loungers or arrange a gazebo. Moreover, such a flooring can be raised above the pool, and a wide wooden staircase can be led into the reservoir, on the steps of which it is convenient to relax.

Important! Wood to create a coating must be treated to be moisture resistant.

Concrete or tile is an alternative to wood landscaping. What exactly to choose depends on the overall landscape design of the summer cottage and the house, as well as on the desires and capabilities of the owners.

If natural stone is used in the decoration, this guarantees long-term operation, without constant repairs and problems with the possibility of mechanical damage. If the walls of the house are made in a light version, then you can play in contrast and arrange a terrace by the pool in dark shades, and put sunbeds on top to match the wall decoration. There is also an option to maintain the unity of the color design of the landscape and choose tiles of the same color as the house has.

If, in addition to the design of the flooring, you want to make a plant frame on the area around the pool, then you should choose plants for the implementation of such a plan. For an exact idea of where and what to place, you can use a special computer program or draw a sketch on paper.

The choice of plants for the area around the pool should be taken seriously. Of course, everyone would like to feel on their site, like on an exotic beach under a palm tree, but it will hardly be possible to grow it in the middle lane of our country.

Ornamental flowering shrubs are the perfect addition to the pool. They are able to attract birds and butterflies, which will set the right atmosphere. The very territory around in this case is planted with a lawn. On it you can lay out paved paths to the house or other buildings on the site, as in the photo.

It is convenient to grow not deciduous, but coniferous plants near the pool, which do not shed their leaves in autumn. They do not require special care and look great in the landscape at any time of the year. From such plants, you can create certain compositions that will undoubtedly decorate the site.

Landscape pools

Now the direction is gaining popularity, which makes the pool on the site not an artificial reservoir, but an object that is as close as possible to natural nature. Such pools are created with a combination of aesthetics and proportions. When creating it, a variety of decor is used, which helps to fit the reservoir into the landscape of the site.

If an ordinary pool is a body of water with a laid out area around it, then a landscape one resembles a natural one as much as possible. Pebbles are used for its decoration, and plants are planted along the banks.

Landscaping of a plot with a swimming pool is designed at the following levels:

  1. Availability of space for recreation and swimming. Here, tiles and lighting perform such functions as to appear natural.
  2. The presence of a decorative zone along the edges of the pool. To create the usual natural look of the lake, boulders are installed along the banks of the pool on the site of a country house, pebbles are poured, and plants are planted. This zone can be expanded by the presence of rockeries and flower beds on the site. It is not forbidden to perform artificial waterfalls.
  3. Regeneration zone, which can be excluded. But the naturalness of the design depends on its presence. It belongs to the pool and is done at a shallow depth. Pebbles are poured at the bottom and moisture-loving plants are planted directly into the water.
  4. The recreation area is mandatory and is an area with sun loungers, furniture or even a barbecue.

Thinking through the design of a site with a swimming pool, you should understand that the reservoir will become the center that will allow you to create the most comfortable and modern recreation area.

The design of the pool is carried out in accordance with the general features of the site. The most popular design trends are oriental, that is, Japanese or Chinese styles.

Particular attention is paid to the backlight. It can be minimal and consist of several lamps, or it can frame the entire composition, creating a certain mood throughout the site.

Tip! It is best to perform the backlight, which can be adjusted to your desires.

Conclusion

Creating a swimming pool on a country plot is a complex task. But, if you think over everything correctly and create a project, it is possible to make a unique design that will be the center of attention of all guests. The photos and tips given in the article will be very useful when designing a pool on the site.

Editor's note: not completed construction. To spend time near the pool was pleasant, safe and comfortable, you need to pay attention to the landscape design of the surrounding area.

Pool Cover
Whether you're planning to frolic in the water with your kids, take a steady swim, or engage in sports activities, the pleasure of swimming can be spoiled by a slippery cold surface (tiles, for example) that awaits a swimmer at the exit of the pool. pool. In addition, you must constantly monitor your every step so as not to slip and fall.

What criteria? Materials must be durable, non-slip and at the same time decorative. So, sand dries for a long time after rain, gravel gets very hot in the sun, and walking on it is not very comfortable.

1. Tiles Most often, paving slabs are used to decorate the area around the pool - they will decoratively complement the composition near the pool, since a huge number of patterns can be created from it. In addition, paving stones do not require special care.

2. Mosaic. Special collections with non-slip surfaces are available for swimming pools. Their only drawback is the limited color range (usually these are variations of blue)

3. Concrete casting. Such a side will not heat up even under the scorching sun. The second step is already comfortably done on soft grass. Such a decision can only be made at the time of laying the pool (not suitable for already functioning pools). And one more thing - it is unlikely that the concrete strip will be wider than 1 meter

4. Natural stone - Pay attention to the rough surface of the plates (do not slip, this is important for the coating around the pool). But it's quite expensive0003

5. Pebbles or gravel - this option is recommended for partially shaded areas: the stone gets quite hot in the sun

Pauchard Paysages

6. Wooden decking

The most suitable option4 for our climate wooden podium. A beautiful podium will help fit the pool into the landscape of the site, visually connect with the environment.

If you choose a board made of moisture-resistant and durable wood (teak or oak) and additionally treat the material with an antiseptic agent, the beach in the country house will take on a decorative look.

    TaC studios, architects

The area around the outdoor pool can also be decorated with decking (terrace board) or modular (garden) wood-polymer composite (WPC) parquet. Its only drawback is that the material is expensive, but it is extremely easy to install, very convenient to use and has a long service life.

    Andrea Calo

Pool cover (when the bowl is raised)
The bowl cover should be beautiful and visually spectacular, as it is the face of the pool. For these purposes, mosaic, ceramic tile or coping stone is used. Most often, preference is given to coping - an artificial decorative stone created specifically for facing the sides of the pool, so it is also called a side stone (look at the photo).

    Lost West

The outside sides of the pool can be equipped with planed board edges covered with waterproof varnish. The advantage is that such a pool is very beautiful, original and organic. Outwardly attractive, it immediately arouses interest. At the same time, it fits perfectly into the buildings made of wood and looks very harmonious against the backdrop of nature. The second advantage is environmental friendliness, which is extremely valuable these days.

    Spa instead of pool
Why not add a touch of luxury to your garden by setting up a Jacuzzi pool amid lush greenery and enjoying all the benefits of hydrorelaxation and hydrotherapy without leaving your favorite garden. Jacuzzi models specially designed for the Russian climate perform flawlessly outdoors all year round.

Build an underwater stone partition between the swimming area and the hot tub. To give the overall ensemble a dynamic effect, build two small fountains into the wall: let one flow into the pool, and the other into the jacuzzi.

Use natural materials to create your spa area. This will harmoniously integrate the jacuzzi into the landscape. The pergola covered with greenery, the wood of the terrace, the natural stone of the retaining wall and the pool of the mini-pool in sand or graphite shade together form an idyllic backdrop for relaxation and relaxation. For more exotic, build a stone fountain in a secluded corner of the garden.

    Plants around the pool
Before landscaping around the pool, decide what kind of landscape you prefer: tropical, natural, calm, etc. There are some practical considerations to keep in mind when planning and selecting plants.

    Studio William Hefner

    • It is strictly forbidden to plant ornamental plants in the pool or on the shore, as the chlorine water will kill them, and the attractive pool will look like a pond, and the convenience of swimming is out of the question.
    • Must be container planted. In this case, the plants will not directly interact with water, and they can always be brought into the room (in bad weather or in winter), as well as swapped, changing the type of recreation area.
    • Do not plant lush vegetation around the pool as leaves and plant debris clog the water and the bottom and walls of the pool.
    • The most hardy species should be selected and, if possible, the flower beds should be placed above the water level. The most practical, as I noted above, are potted plants. Southern cordilina (Cordyline australis), Chinese rose (Hibiscus), glorious yucca (Yucca gloriosa) and oleander will do well in pots, juniper in boxes, and agapanthus in small wide clay bowls. Plants should be placed as far from the shore as possible. Using pots with a narrow top reduces the chance of soil getting into the water if the pot is accidentally dropped. It is best to grow plants with leathery leaves on the shore.

    Relaxation area by the water
After swimming and feeling the magic of water to the full, you will certainly want to sunbathe or drink a soft drink. Therefore, the main element of the country pool is the recreation area. It can be: a small gazebo, sun loungers, garden furniture under a beach umbrella and even a rocking chair. It is also recommended to equip a playground near the pool so that the children can relax next to you.

To create a functional beach in your country house, mount the pool lighting and recreation area lighting to be able to enjoy swimming and relaxing by the pool even at night.

A fireplace or an outdoor fireplace will look very impressive near the pool.

    Outdoor shower
Garden shower has become an essential element of any suburban area. With it, it is easy to remain "civilized" even in a very "wild" dacha. More recently, a shower for a summer residence was identified exclusively with a modest, unsightly structure in the yard, built from building remains. Today in stores you can find a wide variety of ready-made summer showers for summer cottages. But the most interesting and cheaper thing is to create shower cabins in a “construction” design.

The place must be protected from the wind, because even at high air temperatures, a draft can provoke a cold. If a container (water tank) is expected, the shower room should be located on the sunny side of the site. For a shower without a tank, proximity to a water source is important, for example, near the wall of the house.

Surround the building with exotic flowers, trees and shrubs (or place them inside). Taking a shower in such a cabin is a real pleasure: one feels unity with nature; water procedures, fresh air and the beauty of forms give rise to harmony and contribute to the normalization of the psychological state.

It is absolutely not necessary to pack a shower stall in the manner of an interior, plastic one - take a wooden changing cabin as a basis, which leaves the head of the person inside visible.

Wood always looks harmonious in the landscape. In addition, if the exterior decoration of the house is made of wood or imitates it, such an outdoor shower will fit perfectly into the design of the territory.

An open-air spa treatment with an infusion of herbs and flowers and fragrant rose petals from your own garden will give you a wonderful rest and rejuvenate at the end of the day. In addition to pleasant sensations, as a result of the appropriate procedure, you can get a huge dose of vitamin D and, of course, a powerful charge of positive emotions.
