A modest bedroom is often not a tribute to the lack of living space, but quite an intuitive choice for a person who wants to retire and feel comfortable. The tightness does not suffocate, but makes the bedroom cozy, returning us to the feelings of early childhood, when boundaries and frames serve as a guarantee of our safety and emotional comfort. However, the dimensions dictate certain rules that allow you to create a harmonious space for relaxation and a productive start to a new day. Obvious or inspired by modern fashion trends, these principles are designed to relieve tension, distract from obsessive thoughts, and contribute to an easy and pleasant awakening.

1. Pastel is a win-win option

In a small space, color tends not to draw attention to itself. Pale walls with a slight tint serve as a backdrop for furniture and decor. Is this rule so immutable? Yes and no. Man is extremely sensitive to color. Whether we want to eat, sleep, lazy or ready to work - these are by no means subjective states and they largely depend on the environment. So, the choice of a delicate pastel shade for the walls in the bedroom is obvious. Calm and neutral color does not interfere with our lives and visually the room looks more spacious.

If neutral hues seem too subdued for you, personalize the room with deep and rich colors. Blue, velvety grey, all the way to black, vibrant shades of turquoise or orange are the perfect choice for a bedroom. Be careful with scarlet and dark red - these active colors can cause discomfort. From the point of view of psychologists, purple also negatively affects the emotional state of a person, especially during critical periods of life.

2. Furniture – elegant and simple

It's no secret that a small bedroom full of massive furniture turns into a closet. But abandoning the bed in favor of a sofa bed just because of the modest dimensions of the room is also a mistake. In order for large furniture to harmoniously fit into the interior, it is enough to observe a few nuances.

First of all, choose elegant models with high graceful legs - let the furniture seem to float above the floor and not weigh down the space. Secondly, paradoxically, give preference to overall models. If you don't want to feel like Gulliver in your own bedroom, it's better to put one comfortable chair than two small ones and a tiny coffee table in the middle. Get rid of gloomy curtains, decorate the windows with light tulle and remove absolutely everything from the windowsills - you will see, your room will instantly change.

Set it to three levels - top-main, middle-backlight and floor-mood light.

A traditional ceiling light is responsible for the overhead light. It can be absolutely anything - large and miniature, regardless of the size of the room. Middle tier - spotlights, sconces and reading lamps. And, finally, the most intriguing, soft and diffused, responsible for the special atmosphere in the room, is the floor lamp light. All three levels rarely function simultaneously. In the bedroom, floor lamps and reading lamps are most relevant: they create the main illumination of the interior in the evening.

6. Storage is the foundation

The secret of the comfort of a small room is not at all the color of the walls or carefully selected furniture, but the order. And if there are a lot of things, and there is not enough space, then when organizing the wardrobe, you will need to show resourcefulness.

Install a spacious wardrobe for things, but use the space under the bed to store bed linen - for this, give preference to models with a lifting mechanism or equipped with drawers. If there is a place in the room for an ottoman or a pouffe, purchase items with a storage function. And of course, think vertically: use the wall surface all the way to the ceiling by attaching compact shelves for books and knick-knacks to it.

As a rule, they are used to highlight one of the walls in the room, for example, behind the head of the bed. Wallpaper is used for interior decoration of cabinets and chests of drawers, which looks great in combination with a similar pattern on the wall. The choice of wallpaper type for the bedroom is practically unlimited - paper, more durable vinyl or non-woven, original and elegant textile, modern fiberglass and more individual photo wallpapers.

Wallpaper with a large pattern is not the best choice for a bedroom: an already small space will be made even more cramped. From the point of view of the geometry of space, a small pattern is more suitable for small rooms, ideally located vertically. And yet, if during the repair, you found a beautiful brickwork under a layer of plaster - do not rush to hide it back. Let part of the wall remain unfinished, but the rest of the surfaces should be leveled and painted white. Such a contrasting duet looks very beautiful.

The natural color of the brick is too expressive and bright for a small room. If you want to decorate the walls with clinker tiles, paint them white. The texture of the stone will remain, but it will look much "lighter". Brickwork loves contrasting combinations - white walls, black window frames, wooden beams on the ceiling, dark floors and bright red doors. And if you get carried away, you can find yourself surrounded by a brutal male interior, which is not suitable for everyone. Nevertheless, the dosed use of clinker in the design almost always looks appropriate and even bohemian.
