1. Don't Skimp on Bedding

Many people look forward to snoozing in a cushy hotel bed when traveling, swearing it helps them sleep better. Whether you require a solid nine hours per evening or can squeak by on just six, you'll want to maximize your sleep time at home by making your bed ultra comfortable and soothing. "Purchase the best bed linens you can afford," designer Charles Almonte urges. "Beddings should be soft and feel luxurious as it touches your skin. It should make you feel like you are being embraced in a soft cocoon." Linen bedding is a popular choice at the moment, and there's a good reason as to why. "Linen bedding creates a refined yet lived-in-look that never goes out of style and is temperature regulating so it’s perfect for year round use," designer Candace Plotz explains.

Silk pillowcases are also becoming more and more mainstream (and are said to have a number of hair and skin benefits, too!). Talk about putting the beauty in beauty sleep—what's more luxurious?

2. Address Lighting

Think about the atmosphere you'd like to create in your sleep space. Notes Almonte, "Lighting should be moody and soft and can sometimes be sexy, too!" Not sure where to begin? "Indirect lighting such as lamps with soft fabric shades or cove lighting are great options," he explains.

3. Streamline Accessories

High-end hotel rooms are never filled to the brim with accessories and knick-knacks; rather, they're thoughtfully curated with just the right amount of decor, so you'll want to take this approach with your own bedroom, too. "Minimize visual clutter," Almonte states. "A personal touch, such as a small vase of flowers, an elegant clock, or a sterling silver jewelry dish on the bedside table is sometimes enough. " Choose items that you'll be happy to admire as you wake up each day, and toss or donate anything that doesn't make your space feel more zen.

4. Be Your Own Housekeeper

One of the best parts about staying in a luxe hotel? Not having to worry about making your bed each morning and returning to a pristine room after a long day of eating, drinking, and exploring a new city. But, Almonte says, you should certainly make every effort to tackle this chore as soon as you wake up each day. Not only will it get you up and moving, it will make your evening routine feel a bit more special. "Come bedtime, you’ll feel like you just walked in to a five-star hotel bedroom that offered a turndown service," he adds.

5. Hang Mirrors

Hotel rooms don't have to be large in size to feel beautiful and inviting, and neither does your bedroom. But if you do want to make your space feel more expansive, consider this tip from designer Doris Roberts. "Strategically place mirrors in the space to help reflect light and to make the room feel larger," she offers. We suggest leaning one atop a desk to create a makeshift vanity—this will also help make your bedroom feel like it belongs in a boutique hotel—or hanging mirrors above each bedside table.

6. Display Art

Artwork is what gives a bedroom extra personality and is a key component of luxury hotel rooms, too. Here, take the opportunity to display a large canvas or framed piece. Gallery walls, while a favorite for other rooms of the home, don't look quite as luxe in the bedroom. If you're drawn to a modern aesthetic, a large abstract piece is an excellent choice. If your style leans more traditional, consider hanging a framed landscape. Black and white figure drawings are also quite chic; lean a few atop a dresser for a casual, Parisian vibe.

7. Add a Rug

Roberts encourages placing "a comfortable, plush rug" in the bedroom. Why not set a soft sheepskin (faux is fine, too!) by your bedside? Your feet will get the royal treatment as you emerge from your cocoon each morning. Moroccan rugs are also extremely cozy; choose one in a black and white hue if you don't wish to overwhelm your space with color.

8. Don't Forget About the Bathroom

Everyone appreciates a spacious, spotless hotel bathroom. Finish the hotel vibe by making your own loo as sleek and streamlined as possible. Tuck beauty products away into drawers or bins to keep the sink area free of clutter. Display just a few everyday essentials in a petite basket and set it atop a marble tray. Ensure your space is well-stocked with everything you or a guest might need: washcloths, extra toilet paper, plenty of hand soap, and the like. Just add a candle or a chic bottle of perfume and you're all set.

How to Make Your Bathroom Look Expensive

How to Make Your Bedroom Feel Like a Luxury Hotel (on a Budget)

What is it about a posh hotel room that gets our heart rate going?

Is it the crisp, lightly fragrant, laundered sheets, plush comforters, and calming lights? Or the clean, instagrammable views, 24-hour room service, and a pleasant hotel staff that’s always happy to assist?

In either case, hotel rooms inspire a wave of positive, peaceful, and pampered emotions during a vacation that you’d just love to have in the privacy of your own bedroom.

So this year, whether you’re unwillingly returning from a luxurious stay, or just wish your home felt as indulgent as one, explore our tips on how to make your bedroom look like a hotel room, without breaking the bank.

Before starting, choose a color palette you find calm and neutral. Stick with whites, grays, blues and greens, and avoid exciting colors like red, yellow and orange. If you absolutely must have red, opt for darker shades like maroon and burgundy, and use with restraint.

1. Pick the right bed

The centerpiece of your new mini-hotel, a tufted, layered, well-made bed is one you can’t wait to sink into after a hard day.

If you already have a nice bed of your own, that should work just as fine. But one reason we love that hotel vibe is the novelty.

A luxury hotel’s staff prepares your room so well that it feels 100% new by the time you walk in. The idea that possibly thousands of people stayed there before you did never crosses your mind.

The way to recreate the same idea in your own bedroom is by getting a new bed. This can be expensive so you might prefer to rent a lavish bed short-term, so you can purchase it only if it feels right later.

And if you don’t decide to purchase it, you can simply return it and rent another luxe bed, so you can continue recreating that novelty feeling. At each time, CasaOne delivers and assembles everything for you so you can almost experience that white-glove hotel staff feeling in your own home.

When choosing the bed, opt for upholstered, padded headboards, preferably tufted ones because they’re most likely to give that plush bedroom look. Hotel beds also tend to be low or covered underneath. In your case, we’d recommend opting for a bed with storage underneath because not only do they look posher, but they’ll help keep your room tidy and clutter-free.

2. Add the layers

Now that you’ve got the bed, let’s make it.

First, check out your mattress. Depending on how you prefer to sleep, a suitable mattress can be either plush, medium or firm. Many popular hotel brands have mattresses designed specifically for them, and they range from memory foam with cooling technology to innerspring coils with a plush pillowtop.

Luckily, we provide such an extensive range of mattresses for rent here, so you can try them out till you find your heaven.

To layer, start with getting sheets that you find incredibly soft. Don’t stress about material and thread count. Just explore the fabric in person and find what feels good, regardless of whatever budget you set. If you want our opinion, go with white cotton percale and a thread count of around 300.

Then get your sheets professionally laundered and pressed. We say ‘professionally’ because nothing beats that faint flowery fragrance and the immaculate creases in the crisp bedding that you get back from the pros. You’re always welcome to do it yourself.

Tuck one sheet tightly around the mattress, then add a thin blanket or comforter, and then another sheet on top. Adding the comforter in between the sheets is a little hotelier trick to add some extra plush. Cover it all with a snug duvet (with cover) of your choice along with an optional down comforter for extra softness. Let these hang loose over the sides, or tuck them in for a neater look.

3. Complete the hotel bed feel

To go the extra mile, spritz your sheets with some diluted essential oil fragrance you can’t get enough of. Our personal favorites are lavender, grass, and woody scents. Experiment with fragrance combinations till you find an aroma you love.

For an extra touch, while layering your bed, you can place a bed scarf (or coverlet) towards the end of your bed in a contrasting color or a color that matches your headboard for the complete 5-star look.

When tucking in your comforter and sheets, learn how to make “hospital corners” for a truly neat and professional look. If you can spend a little bit more, add a bench near the foot of the bed that matches your headboard’s color and texture. We have a wide range of bedroom benches.

4. Choose the right light

Part of a hotel room’s luxe charm is in the lighting. Often, hotels choose large drum or empire-shaped lamps with fabric shades. Place one lamp each on the bedroom end tables, and a brighter, perhaps a more stylish lamp near the desk. You can explore some gorgeous table lamps and floor lamps for rent here.

But while lamps make the room feel elegant and cozy in the evening, a luxury hotel room maximizes the use of natural light during the day.

Whether you have large doors leading to a balcony or simply large windows, make the most of this area by installing sheer curtains for softness and an additional blackout layer for when you need complete darkness or privacy.

5. Choose the right complementary furniture

Bed and lighting is not all a hotel has ready for you. A luxury hotel invests in top-of-the-line end tables, desks, chairs, televisions, and storage (with a safe) as well.

For end tables, you want to get clean, simple ones with tons of storage for personal knickknacks and plenty of space for table lamps, notebooks, flowers and your phone. We have quite the selection of nightstands and study tables available for rent here, if you’d like to explore.

Since hotels are used a lot for business, a high-end hotel provides plenty of desk space and a comfortable chair for work. If your bedroom is big enough, and you want the complete hotel look, feel free to add a high-end work table and chair along with one of the walls, perhaps close to the window. Add a table or floor lamp for light.

Hotels also have a little living room area, complete with chairs and a coffee table, sometimes a 2-seater sofa. If space permits, you can explore our range of living room furniture available for rent for ideas. Make sure you adhere to the color scheme and the seating is plush, but easy to maintain.

Luxury hotels also have televisions in the rooms. To add one of your own, explore our smart television rentals so you can enjoy late-night marathons with a little self-prepared room service (or takeout).

And for the wardrobe, you want something that’s understated, matches the rest of your furniture, and provides incredible storage space. Hotel rooms are always clutter-free, and the reason for that is plenty of storage.

The problem is while you’re travelling, you only have what you take with you, but at home, you need to store and organize everything. This is why we recommended beds with storage underneath and large desks and end tables. It’s a similar tune with the bedroom wardrobe. Have a primary wardrobe for clothing and some chests around for other belongings.

6. Choose the right decor

Now for the finishing touches. Place wall art, flower vases, planters, and other decor items. Some hotels use carpet, but a plush, shaggy rug over a hardwood floor feels like a cloud under the feet every time you get in and out of bed.

Adding a throw blanket to the mix will up the cozy factor, and choose pillow covers that match your chosen color palette. For a truly decadent experience, select a combination of large firm pillows for support, down-filled pillows for comfort, and soft throw pillows for decoration, and then layer them from largest at the back to smallest at the front. You can also include a neck pillow or a bolster according to your preferences.

7. Create the 5-star experience

The hotel vibe in your bedroom is not just about getting nicer furniture and tucking hospital corners. It’s about that vacation mode supported by pampering, cleanliness, and relaxation.

So, to finish our guide, here are some extra tidbits of luxury living that you can enjoy in your new luxury bedroom, by yourself or with a partner:

Finally, remember to make your bed and clear the room every morning before you head off to work, so you can come home to that hotel atmosphere you love every day.

Don’t forget to leave a chocolate or mint on the pillow. It’ll do wonders to lift your mood when you return. You work hard. You deserve it.

Bringing Professional Hotel Designers Into Our Homes

Boutique hotel owners compete for the most interesting designs to attract guests. They do not forget about comfort either: the functionality and convenience of bedrooms in expensive hotels are at their best. We share the most accessible and effective techniques from the arsenal of pros in this article.

General light switch next to bed

What is convenient in hotels (not only in designer hotels like The Barceló Torre de Madrid hotel in Madrid, but also in more democratic ones) - there are general light switch located at the head of the bed.

Lift hand, who thought of this moment in their bedroom without a hint from the designer? A after all, how nice after reading before going to bed to turn off the light with one hand, and not get out from under a warm blanket to the other side of the room.

Minimum furniture set

Someone likes a few chairs, all kinds of coffee tables and the maximum number of shelves, but what The hotel interior teaches us how to get by with the bare minimum. of things. Called A-Place in Warsaw knows this firsthand.

High headboard

The capitonné headboard does not end with the design, as it may sometimes seem. On the contrary, experiments with the shape, texture and upholstery design are welcome. The bedrooms at the Covent Garden Hotel in London were designed by the owner herself: the rooms can be seen as a catalog of ideas.

Perfectly made bed

Pressed and perfectly tucked sheets, soft pillows in several sizes and a huge blanket - everything is designed for maximum comfort and convenience. A good example of this is in the bedrooms of the One Barcelona GL hotel in Barcelona, beds with mattress toppers are covered with Egyptian cotton linen.

Unfinished Walls

This trick can save you money on paint and wallpaper if you're on a budget. So the designers gave a second life to the historic building of the G-Rough Hotel in Rome and inscribed furniture and decor of Italian design into the old shabby walls.

Interior-integrated storage systems

Built-in closet, interior-style chest of drawers - this is what you can find in most hotels. Designed by Patricia Urquiola, Il Sereno has veneered cabinet fronts, as do the walls. They are almost invisible, but at the same time practical - this is the effect we dream of achieving when organizing the space in our home.

Patterned wallpaper

Hoteliers usually don't like white walls - it's too boring. Take an example from the French architect and designer Philippe Meidenburg: he chose wallpaper with a pattern imitating the headboard, shelving and moldings to decorate the bedroom in the Joyce hotel in Paris. At the same time, save on decor.

Mix of prints

Don't be afraid to combine several prints in one room - this will give the interior dynamics and make it more stylish. Are you afraid to make a mistake? Use different patterns in wall decoration and textiles, but in the same color - as famous designer Kelly Whistler did at the Proper Hotel in San Francisco.

Intense colors

For the only bedroom in the house, an active color palette, like in the rooms of The Shoreline Hotel Waikiki in Hawaii, may be too bold step. But for guests - what you need.

10 bedroom ideas we found in top hotels

Some of these solutions need to be implemented already at the design stage, while others - decorating techniques - can be implemented at any time in an already finished interior.

1. King size bed and bed linen bespoke

A comfortable bed is the main element of any bedroom. At New York's Hoxton Hotel, Ensismore's designers opted for a luxurious model with a wooden base, roomy drawers and a velvet headboard. A well-chosen hand-embroidered bed linen was the perfect complement.

2. A modern interpretation of the classics

The Plaza Athenee Hotel is located in the very center of Paris, on Avenue Montaigne - once Marlene Dietrich lived here and Rudolf Nureyev danced.

The secret of its interiors lies in moderation, trendy colors (see how refined gray sets off burgundy) and, of course, impeccable taste. The classic interior was diluted with modern elements - laconic lamps and furniture with smooth facades.

3. Dusty shades of pink

Located in Oslo, Camillas Hus Boutique Hotel, built in 1845, is named after writer Camille Collette, considered Norway's first feminist. The interior is fully consistent with this background: it was kept in dusty shades of pink. And so that the monochrome does not look boring, the designers skillfully played with textures and mixed different materials.

4. Full-length mirror behind the headboard

This 1930s-inspired hotel in Cannes was designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon. Together with the general light color scheme, the mirror wall makes the room visually several times larger. If you like interiors with a lot of light and air, this is the perfect solution.

5. Exterior as part of the interior

At The Hari, the landscape outside the window is no longer just a beautiful view - the designers of Tara Bernerd & Partners have come up with the idea of making it part of the interior. And for good reason: the view of the London street decorates better than any art. If your windows offer picturesque landscapes, why not take advantage of this advantage and ask the designer to create the perfect place to contemplate the beautiful?

6. Interior box: matching prints on wallpaper and textiles

At The Montague on the Gardens, London, designers weren't afraid to play with active, contrasting patterns and bold hues. Identical patterns create an optical illusion, as if erasing the boundaries between objects and expanding the space.

7. Chic headboard

Another London hero of our selection is the Covent Garden Hotel. For different rooms, designer Keith Kemp, an adherent of the English style in a fashionable reading, chose different design options for a soft headboard. And all are equally gorgeous: watercolor floral prints in bright colors, floral and geometric patterns. Our favorite is high embroidered headboards.

8. Dark walls and houndstooth print

Stylish, concise and not boring at the same time - this is about the interiors of the Nerva Hotel in Rome. Ideal for those who love minimalism, but do not see their ideal bedroom without interesting accents. It looks especially great in combination with colored elements: it can be textiles or art on the wall.

9. Floor-to-ceiling windows and lounge area

We are sure that such a relaxation area will become your favorite place in the house. Here you can read books on autumn evenings, admire the sunset with a glass of wine in your hand, watch the city wake up in the morning - and all with the same pleasure. And golden accents add even more polish to this Jaime Berjestein interior.

10. Frescoes on the walls

Back in the Middle Ages, pilgrims stopped here, in the heart of Tuscany, to rest on their way. Now it's a five-star boutique hotel Borgo Santo Pietro, but everything in it keeps the spirit of those times - including traditional Italian frescoes on the walls. A great option if you miss the atmosphere of sunny Italy.
