There’s no arguing Dyson has done more for the modern vacuum industry than any other manufacturer. It has single-handedly made vacuums stronger, more durable, and — if we’re being honest — better looking, and I say that as a person who’s had a chance to review dozens of vacuums over the years and several Dyson models.

Dyson’s Outsize Absolute+ is a new cordless stick vacuum designed to bridge the gap between the light, hyper-portable cordless devices it’s already well known for (like the V10 and V15 models) and bigger and more powerful uprights. In this case, the Dyson Outsize Absolute+ is specifically built for larger and more carpeted North American homes so it has been crafted with a larger bin, bigger cleaner head, stronger suction, and an extra battery, plus some new techy tools like a laser.
I had an opportunity to try the Dyson V11 Outsize Absolute+ in real life in my home for a few weeks. Here’s what it was like.
The Dyson Outsize Absolute+ has a 150% larger dustbin, 25% bigger cleaning head, and swappable batteries to support longer cleaning sessions with up to 120 minutes of runtime, compared to the V10 and V15 models.
In the package you get quite a lot; there’s the main vacuum handle with integrated dustbin and filtration, plus a small screen is also built into the back to show battery life and different cleaning modes.
What do you get with Dyson Outsize Absolute+?
There are three main cleaning heads and several accessories.
There are so many accessories I had a hard time using them all.
High Torque XL cleaner head
You could call this the main cleaning head, and it’s the largest brush head option in the package. It uses Dyson calls the Dynamic Load Sensor to automatically adjust power over different floor types, meaning you can deep clean between carpet and hard floor without having to change accessories.
Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head
With its cuddly space-age name, this tool has to be something special, right? It is. A fluffy brush is designed primarily for hard floors because those fluffy rollers are made to trap and attract, not scatter, fine particles of dust thanks to anti-static fibers. The laser that’s generated when powered on shines light horizontally across your floors, pinging off particles so you can spot them better.
Hair screw tool
The hair screw tool’s anti-tangle conical brush bar picks up long hair, fibers and, pet hair, but more than that it’s designed not to allow hair and fibers to wrap around the roller. This happens with almost every other vacuum. With its cone shape, hair should eventually work its way off the brush and into the dustbin.
There are so many accessories I had a hard time using them all. When it comes to other attachments and accessories, there’s a Combination Tool with brush, Crevice Tool, and dusting brush as well as an extra battery, cord, and some mounting hardware and clips.
All the parts (including the filter) are washable.
Battery life and charging
One of the selling points of this vacuum is that it gets 120 minutes of battery life. The Dyson V15 or V11, by comparison, get 60 minutes. Is this because Dyson’s battery technology has been improved? In a word: No.
The Outsize Absolute+ comes with a second battery. That’s what doubles the stated runtime. You’ll need to keep your second battery charged and ready to truly get that 120 minutes; otherwise it’s about 60 minutes per battery.
Fully charging one of the batteries will take a lengthy 4.5 hours.
Cleaning with Dyson Outsize Absolute+
I thought adding lasers to your vacuum was about as relevant as adding lasers to sharks. Color me wrong
This vacuum is ultra-easy to use and while it is noticeably heavier than the Dyson V15, it’s still easy to carry around. The tools and cleaning heads snap in and out easily with no tugging or jamming.
The Dyson Outsize Absolute + cleaned all the surfaces of my home really well.
It powers dirt out of carpets (like dried dog paw prints) and gets rid of pet hair well; it’s truly astonishing to see what ends up in the dustbin. It easily inhales dog hair, crumbs, debris, and dust on hardwood floors.
When it comes to the two new specialized cleaning heads, I have to say I was blown away by the Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head. To be honest, I thought adding lasers to your vacuum was about as relevant as adding lasers to sharks. Color me wrong.
The laser does a mind-blowing job of lighting up seemingly invisible dirt, dust, and particles. The first time I used it, I’d already vacuumed the previous day and thought there’d be nothing for it to spot. Boy, was I wrong.
The green laser slices across the floor’s surface at an oblique angle which is just right to make dirt, particles, and dust bunnies light up like tiny Christmas trees. It made hard-to-spot dirt easy to see, both in low and bright light conditions.
The Hair Screw tool worked outstandingly well.
After attacking a dog bed, some upholstery, and then even trying it on the carpet, the conical brush has absolutely zero hair wrapped around it; no de-tangling necessary.
I guess I should save a bit of ink for the main cleaner head. Saying it works great and cleans a large area quickly seems like kind of an afterthought after writing about its siblings.
Emptying the bin is easy and mess-free
One of the nice features about the Outsize Absolute+ that carries over from other models is the point-and-shoot bin emptying feature. After removing the tools, just push the lever on the side to flip open the bottom of the bin, and it drops right into the garbage. You don’t need to touch any dirt or get your hands dirty.
Our take
Overall, The Dyson Outsize Absolute+ is easily the best large format stick vacuum on the market today. It cleans brilliantly and I can’t make any complaints about it. From carpet to hard floors, it’s got you covered. It’s definitely bigger and covers more ground than the other, smaller Dyson models.
I will say it is heavy and particularly less maneuverable when trying to use it as a handheld (such as with the mini motorized hair screw tool) but I guess that’s the price to be paid for power and the larger dustbin. The new laser sighting and anti-tangle head are ridiculously versatile additions that work amazingly well.
Is there a better alternative?
Dyson is pretty much top of the line when it comes to vacuums of all sorts, so is there a better option? Probably not. But if you are looking to save some dough on a similar vacuum, Dyson’s other models like the Dyson V10 have similar features and technology at a cheaper price point. I also recently tried the Samsung Jet 90 stick vacuum and while it’s pretty good, it doesn’t have the same power, size advantages, in-line construction, or frikkin’ lasers, as the Outsize Absolute+.
How long will it last?
I bought one of the first Dyson corded upright vacuums about 18 years ago and it’s still going strong.
Similarly, my Dyson V11 Animal model is over three years old and I’ve never had a single problem with it. I have every reason to expect the build quality of the Outsize Absolute to be top-notch.
Should I buy it?
Absolutely! If you need a new vacuum without the trailing cords but the power of an upright and amazing new and useful cleaner heads, then this stick vacuum delivers the ability to clean your whole home. With powerful suction made for carpets, this vacuum can also trap dust on hard floors too.
Overall, this is a great vacuum for my home, which does have a fully carpeted basement and all hard flooring upstairs, and I think with this I could finally bid my older Dyson corded upright a happy retirement.

What is Dyson Outsize Absolute +?
Dyson’s Outsize Absolute + is a cordless stick vacuum that’s designed to fill the space between light and uber-portable cordless vacuums and more powerful, bigger capacity uprights. The Dyson Outsize Absolute + is specifically built for larger and more carpeted North American homes so it’s got a larger dust bin, bigger cleaner head, more powerful suction and an additional battery. I had a the opportunity to try the Dyson V11 Outsize Absolute + in my home for a few weeks: Here’s what happened.

What’s in the box?
In the box you get quite a lot; there’s the main vacuum handle with integrated dustbin and filtration, plus small screen is also built into the back to show a battery countdown timer and different cleaning modes.
There are three main cleaning heads, and several accessories:
High Torque XL cleaner head
You could call this the main vacuum head, and it’s the largest roller head option in the package.With Dyson Dynamic Load Sensor it will automatically adjust power on different floor types, meaning you can deep clean between carpet and hard floor without having to swap accessories.
Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head

With its Jetsons-meets-teddy bear name, this cleaning brush head must be something amazing, yes? It sure is. With its padded fluffy brush, it’s made specifically for wood and tile floors, because those fuzzy rollers can trap and inhale fine particles of dust thanks to anti-static fibres.
Add in a laser that’s generated when powered on:With green light that emanates horizontally across your floors, it will bounce off particles so you can see them better.
Hair screw tool
The hair screw tool has an anti-tangle cone-shaped brush bar that not only picks up long hair or pet hair, but its shape is made to prevent hair and fibres from wrapping around the roller and creating tangled clogs. With its cone shape, hair should eventually work its way off the brush and into the dustbin.
When it comes to other attachments and accessories, there’s a Combination Tool with brush, Crevice Tool, dusting brush as well as an extra battery and some mounting hardware and clips. There’s actually so many accessories I had a hard time using them all during my review period.

Battery life and charging
One of the marketing messages of this vacuum is that it gets an improved 120 minutes of battery life, while the Dyson V15 or V11 by comparison get 60 minutes.
Is this because Dyson’s battery technology has been revolutionized? In a word: No.
Because the Outsize Absolute + comes with a second battery, that’s what actually doubles the stated runtime: You need to keep your extra battery charged and ready to truly get that 120 minutes; otherwise it’s about 60 minutes per battery.
Fully charging one of the batteries will take a lengthy 4.5 hours.
Why is Dyson so expensive?
Wondering what makes Dyson vacuums so good, or—to be blunt—so expensive? You can thank all that time in the Dyson development lab where the company works to innovate its motors.
This vacuum is powered by what sounds like a futuristic Dyson Hyperdymium motor which spins at up to 125,000rpm, creating what Dyson says is the most powerful suction of any cordless vacuum. The motor, bin and cyclone are aligned (unlike some other models where there’s a bend or elbow inside), so air is drawn into the cyclones in a straight line, helping to keep the suction from getting clogged or impeded.
Cyclonic technology in the motor spins dust into the bin and makes it less likely to clog filters, a key reason why vacuums lose suction.
Plus, the company, to its credit, doesn’t rest on its laurels with the accessories either. The new laser addition is a major innovation, as it the unique anti-tangle motorized screw head.
Cleaning with Dyson Outsize
This vacuum is ultra easy to use and while it is noticeably heavier than the V11 Absolute I reviewed not long ago, it’s still easy to carry around. It’s comparable to the Dyson V11 Outsize which I reviewed too.
The accessories and brush/roller heads snap in an out so easily with no pulling or yanking. The Dyson Outsize Absolute + cleaned all the surfaces of my home really well: it definitely powers dirt out of carpets (like dried dog paw prints) and gets rid of pet hair well; it’s truly surprising to see what ends up in the dustbin, particulalry when you though your floors were already pretty clean.

It easily pulls up pet hair, crumbs, lint and dust on hardwood floors. To further test it I spilled things like crackers, oatmeal and flour on my kitchen tile too and it does a great job picking up pretty much anything. The cleaner head is also small enough to fit under kick plates in the kitchen and can swoop under things like sofas and beds too.
When it comes to those two new cleaning heads, I was really and truly surprised by the Laser Slim Fluffy cleaner head. To be frank, before my testing, I thought adding lasers to your vacuum was about as relevant as adding lasers to golf carts. I can admit I was wrong.
The laser does an outstanding job of illuminating dirt I truly could not see. My first use, I’d already vacuumed the previous day and thought there’d be nothing for it to light up. Nope. The green laser cuts across the floor’s surface at an oblique angle which is perfect for making dirt and dust bunnies light up like tiny beacons.
It truly made hard-to-spot dirt easy to see, both in low light and bright light.
The Hair Screw tool also worked outstandingly well. After using it on a dog bed, furniture, and then even testing it on carpet, the conical brush has absolutely zero hair wrapped around it.
I guess I should save a bit of the page for thoughts about the main cleaner head, and saying it works very well and cleans a large area fast seems like kind of an afterthought after spilling so much ink on its siblings.

Cleaning Modes: Dyson Outsize Absolute +
The Dyson Outsize comes with three cleaning modes:
Eco Mode uses the least amount of power, and gives you longer overall battery life and run time. Auto or Medium Mode will automatically adjust the engine, to deliver more power on carpet. Boost Mode increases suction again to really power out ground in dirt.
Emptying the bin
One of the nice features about the Outsize Absolute + that carries over from other Dyson vacuums is the ‘point and shoot’ bin emptying feature.
After detaching your tools, just give the lever a swipe to flip open the base of the bin, and all the dirt drops right into the trash. You don’t need to get your hands dirty.
Overall review: Dyson Outsize Absolute +
Overall, The Dyson Outsize is easily the best large format stick vacuum you can buy.
When it comes to the pros: it’s powerful, has automatically adjustable suction, a great array of tools and accessories included. Plus there’s long battery life with two battery packs in use, the bigger cleaning head and larger dustbin for less frequent emptying. And the laser sighting works wonders, plus the new Hair Screw Tool doesn’t tangle
Any downsides? It is heavier than average stick vac, particularly when used as a handheld, the batteries take a while to charge and yes, it is expensive.
Even so, it cleans brilliantly and I can’t make any major complaints about it.
If you need a new vacuum with the power of an upright, amazing new, useful cleaner heads, and without the trailing cords, this stick vacuum has the ability to clean your whole home.

The glossy appearance of is the advantage of cordless vacuum cleaner Dyson.
So let's first take a look at the design and workmanship in our Dyson V11 test.
The design of the Dyson V11 has changed little from the Dyson V10.
Both the 2019 Dyson V11 and the 2020 Dyson V11 have the same design.
Special new on the 2020 model: you can easily change the battery . But more on that later.
The manufacturer has kept the futuristic design under the motto "Never change the winning team", and the device still resembles the tool that Elon Musk should take to Mars.
The Dyson V11 cordless vacuum cleaner has a motor directly on the handle, so the V11 can hold well and distribute weight accurately. You can very simply start the process with a single click on the "start" button.
Compared to the V10, the Dyson V11 has a stylish and practical LCD display, which displays many useful things that the vacuum cleaner monitors in real time.

Dyson varies prices for different models of cordless vacuum cleaners, mainly depending on the configuration. This often causes confusion.
Therefore, we will take a closer look at the scope of delivery and accessories of the Dyson V11 Absolute.
Basically, the cordless vacuum cleaner comes in two versions:
- Dyson V11 Absolute Extra
- Dyson V11 Animal Extra
What are the separate attachments for?
Each of the supplied accessories has its function and rationale. We'll take a closer look at these features in the Dyson V11 review.
Both models come with the same accessories, however the Dyson V11 Absolute is also equipped with a "Quick Release", an extremely hard brush.
However, the main difference between the V11 Animal Extra and previous models such as the Dyson V10 is that it comes with a "Direct Drive Electric Brush". The Dyson V11 cordless vacuum cleaner, on the other hand, comes with a new "Torque-Drive" technology that can automatically adjust the suction power.
Dyson V11 Torque-Drive Brush
The new brush automatically adjusts the suction power to match the finish and is therefore suitable for any type of surface.
Dyson's V11 Torque Drive technology helps optimize battery life and saves you the hassle of changing your brush during the process.
The red nylon brush roller penetrates deep into the fibers of the carpet and cleans it, while the black carbon fiber roller helps remove very fine dust from hard floors.
Combination brush head
This brush is actually very useful for vacuuming furniture, books or pictures.
Since the brush can be pushed back with the push of a button and the remaining hard plastic end is vacuumed effectively.
Suction tube
The suction tube is made of thin metal and has a practical plastic plug. Any of the accessories supplied can be connected to this plug connection.
The suction tube is mainly used for floor cleaning with torque drive, but you can also use it to extend the handheld vacuum cleaner. So you have the option of vacuuming behind cabinets or removing cobwebs from the ceiling.
Crevice Nozzle
This classic accessory vacuum nozzle is ideal for cleaning gaps between car seats or sofa cushions.
Dyson mini electric brush
This brush is especially useful for removing animal hair and other dirt from upholstery or car seats.
Quick Release Extra Soft Brush
This brush has extra soft bristles and is very suitable for cleaning sensitive surfaces.
"Quick Release" extra hard brush
This new brush has much harder bristles and the bristles are also far apart.
It is able to clean coarser dirt, for example, from tiled floors. But be careful not to scratch (e.g. laminate).
Electric brush with soft roller
This roller is already known from the Dyson V10 and even older models. Particularly suitable for cleaning hard floors.
Storage and charging station
Super practical with Dyson. It can be hung on the wall, so it does not get in the way and is charged at the same time. Some accessories can also be attached to it. Unfortunately, not all.
Accessory holder
Practical accessory holder allows you to attach accessories to the suction pipe, making them more accessible during the vacuuming process.
Charger
Of course, the scope of supply also includes a suitable mains adapter for charging the battery.

Differences between Dyson models: "Absolute" and "Animal"
in the scope of delivery.
The direct drive electric brush supplied with Animal Extra is particularly suitable for carpet cleaning.
On hard floors, on the other hand, the new "Torque-Drive" technology in the Absolute is more suitable and is sufficient. The "old" soft roller that also comes with the Absolute is actually best for hard floors.

Dyson V11 Absolute: review and cleaning test - Cleaning in extreme conditions
The question that interests you most when buying a Dyson V11 Absolute is, of course, how good are the results of cleaning or suction . Our review will help you.
We scattered a lot of dirt and saw how he handled it.
We apply dirt (lentil, sand and oatmeal) to hard floors, short and long pile carpets and then vacuum them.
The overall result was more than convincing.
Cleaning on hard floor (laminate)
On hard floor, the has no problem removing dirt, and even if there was some sand left on the first sweep, Dyson did a very good job.
After the second race there was no sand left.
The Dyson V11 also picks up other types of dirt easily.
Then we repeated the test again at the maximum level. All sand has been removed.
Cleaning short pile carpets
V11 literally left nothing on short pile carpet . This has never happened before in any of our tests!
Long pile carpet cleaning
Long pile carpets are the horror of any cordless vacuum cleaner.
But this is not the case with the Dyson V11 Absolute. He masterfully copes with this task and again impresses us with his suction power.
Cleaning efficiency in our (family) daily life
We have also tested the vacuum cleaner in our (family) daily life. In addition to the long battery life, we especially noted the suction power.

The new V11 has a battery life of more than 70 minutes in eco mode. In automatic mode (Med), still is about 55 minutes, which is still an excellent result of .

And here Dyson put the convenience of using products at the forefront of . Maintenance of the Dyson V11 is very simple and consists mainly of the following three items:

Emptying the mud container
Emptying the mud container is very easy. The lower red lever must be moved forward, the container opens and the dirt is pushed out and falls into the trash can.
This works very well and usually leaves no residue in the container.
Cleaning the container is also easy. The Plexiglas container can be removed with a handle and can be simply rinsed.

The white cardboard box in which this vacuum cleaner arrived contains very little information: only photos of the device from different angles, one on each side, and the model name on the front and back sides.
In line with current environmental trends, there is not a gram of packaging plastic or polyethylene: all components and accessories of the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute are wrapped in paper or lie in complexly shaped cardboard boxes.

The Dyson V15 Detect Absolute comes with an extensive package: three electric brushes, four non-motorized nozzles and a fair amount of additional accessories for all occasions.
At first glance
The body of the vacuum cleaner is made of silver-steel plastic. The middle of the cylindrical motor block is decorated with a golden belt of complex shape. The plastic cover of the fine filter, located at the back of the unit, is purple and transparent. Moving parts - control button, latches and seals - are bright scarlet. It is difficult to call the design of the device strict, but the color scheme definitely catches the eye, is remembered for a long time and does not merge with the situation.
The layout of the motor block is longitudinal: in the front there is a dust collector with a cyclone filter, in the middle there is an engine housing, and in the back there is a fine filter unit. At the end of the device there is a round LCD display with a power control button.
A pistol grip extends from the motor unit with a trigger that turns on the vacuum cleaner. It has a removable battery attached to it.
In the front end there is a nozzle for connecting an extension tube, nozzles or electric brushes.
To power the latter, the connector is equipped with a two-pin socket.
The body of the bin has an original emptying mechanism: in order to shake out the coarse debris discarded by the cyclone filter, you need to move the transparent cover forward with the red lever at the bottom of the bin. The front end cover is then automatically folded up. Dust that may accumulate on the pre-filter screen is cleaned off by the sealing ring on the rear end of the container and does not wake up when opened.
The bin can be completely removed from the cyclone for maintenance and cleaning: it is held in place by another latch at the bottom.
The steel mesh pre-filter, designed to filter fine debris, has very frequent perforations, so it only allows the finest dust to pass through.
The air flow with the remaining contaminants passes through the motor of the vacuum cleaner and enters the fine filter of two elements: preliminary, made of non-woven material, and the main, with an accordion HEPA filter.
The manufacturer reports that the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute filtration system is capable of delaying 99.99% microscopic particles down to 0.3 microns.
The battery is held on the handle of the device with another latch (like almost all vacuum cleaner controls, it is scarlet). According to the information on the battery, the power supply consists of seven lithium-ion cells with a total capacity of 3600 mAh.
On the back of the battery there is a connector for an adapter. The power supply unit can be connected directly to the vacuum cleaner, but perhaps it will be more convenient to fix its plug in the supplied wall base: for this, a special groove is made in its body. You can also connect power directly to the battery removed from the device.
The base of the vacuum cleaner is supplied disassembled - for wall mounting it must be assembled from two parts. The base case is designed to store two nozzles.
The charger is made of the same silver gray plastic as the body of the vacuum cleaner.
According to the information on the charger, the adapter delivers 30VDC, 1.1A.
The electric carpet nozzle is equipped with a cylindrical rotor with two spiral elements - the bristles are black and scarlet. They make one turn around the cylinder and are protected on both sides by blue lamellae. The top cover of the nozzle is transparent: the rotation of the contrasting colored brushes is easy to control through it
There is a switch on the front of the nozzle that adjusts the pressure of the nozzle on the carpet: it controls the retractable stops that extend from the bottom panel in front of the brush.
All electric nozzles are equipped with a swivel mechanism that allows them to rotate 90° forward-backward and 180° right-left.
The brush rotor is removed from the end: to do this, turn the round cap on the left side of the nozzle.
The roller of the hard floor nozzle is covered with velor in two colours. A strip of soft bristles is attached to it between sections of the fabric, which increases the efficiency of sweeping.
Due to the small diameter of the rotor, the nozzle has a very small height - only 50 mm. This allows you to remove debris even under low furniture.
A backlight unit is mounted on the right end, one of the highlights of the model: the device is equipped with a green laser, thanks to which (and a specially oriented lens) the removed debris should become more noticeable than with traditional LEDs. We will certainly test this device in action and talk about it a little lower.
The nozzle rests on four rollers - two at the back and two at the ends. Convex velor elements on the sides and back of the rotor also contribute to easy sliding. To remove the roller, turn the end cap and pull the rotor sideways.
The vacuum cleaner is equipped with another nozzle of a very interesting design: unlike the cylindrical brushes we are used to, the working element of this accessory is a conical Archimedean screw with a spiral brush row.
This design prevents long hair, pet hair and threads from winding around the rotor: the thread that gets on the electric brush does not wrap around it, but flies off the thin side of the working element, falling into the air path of the vacuum cleaner, and from there into the dustbin.
The lower part of the nozzle is equipped with a velor element that makes it easier to glide over the fabric.
For cleaning and maintenance, the accessory can be disassembled into two parts: to do this, it is enough to release the scarlet latch on the transparent casing.
TheDyson V15 Detect Absolute is also equipped with four non-motorized nozzles: two brushes - transverse and longitudinal, a crevice brush nozzle and a long narrow crevice nozzle. The design of these accessories is simple and familiar, we did not note any unique features in their design.
Inside the 69 cm long extension tube there is a wire that feeds the electric nozzles, and at both ends there are plugs for connecting them.
The user can attach a holder to the handset to keep one or two non-motorized handpieces close at hand.
The Dyson V15 Detect Absolute also includes a swivel adapter that allows the air path to be bent up to 90°. The rotary element of the adapter is fixed with a yellow latch.
Unlike most similar swivel adapters from other manufacturers, this accessory has electrical plugs located in the ends of the tube and is compatible with electric nozzles.
Manual
The vacuum cleaner comes with a 44-page A4 user manual in eighteen European languages. The Russian-language part of the document is two and a half pages long and contains only mandatory information about compliance with regulatory requirements and safety when handling the device. The same document is available for download from the official product page. To our surprise, we did not find a user manual in the usual sense.
The vacuum cleaner and a brief introduction to its maintenance and use of the main attachments can be found in the quick start guide, which is a small illustrated booklet.
The absence of the usual operating instructions does not interfere at all, however, with getting to know the device - its use is intuitive and does not cause any difficulties.
Control
The instrument is activated by the red “trigger” on the pistol grip.
Unlike most similar models, the power button on the Dyson V15 is not fixed.
The power modes of the vacuum cleaner (there are three in total) are switched by pressing the silver button at the end of the device. It is placed far from the handle and it is impossible to press it with the thumb of the hand that holds the vacuum cleaner: the user needs a second hand to switch the power. The device controls are convenient for both left-handers and right-handers.
Above the power button is a round LCD color display. We will talk about it below.
Operation
The Dyson V15 Detect Absolute surprised us right from the start: it was the first handheld vacuum cleaner to offer a choice of language before use. You can select the language settings on the LCD touch screen when you turn it on for the first time. After selecting the Russian language, the device offered to fully charge the battery to continue working, which we did.
The first charge took just over two hours: to extend battery life, the device is shipped half charged.
Having started working with the vacuum cleaner, we encountered another unusual feature of this model: the “trigger”, which turns on the device, is not fixed in the pressed position. This decision distinguishes the V15 from the vast majority of analogues, but, perhaps, it is logical - there is no need for a cordless vacuum cleaner to idle. The power button has a soft stroke, keeping it pressed is not difficult.
As noted above, the Dyson V15 has three modes of operation: economical (with reduced power), powerful and automatic. The last option interested us the most.
In the automatic power selection mode, the device independently determines the degree of pollution: a special sensor at the inlet to the container determines the amount of dust and, if necessary, turns on increased speed. When using this function, there is no need to adjust the power manually, by eye, the vacuum cleaner decides when it should push.
When we first got acquainted with the device, we were somewhat skeptical about the automatic mode, but after some time we found that we use only it.
Indeed, the Dyson V15's auto power select works efficiently and predictably, conserving battery power and revving up only when it's really needed.
Auto power select only works with motor attachments. When simple non-motorized accessories are connected to the vacuum cleaner, instead of the “Auto” mode, “Medium” becomes available, with the appropriate power.
Eco and Turbo modes with non-electrified nozzles have a higher suction power, which is logical: without rotor brushes, a stronger air flow is required for high-quality cleaning. But the battery life in this mode is much less.
The small round display of the vacuum cleaner proved to be extremely informative. In addition to the traditional signaling of the degree of battery discharge and the currently selected power level, it provides the user with many more useful information.
In the process of cleaning, the vacuum cleaner shows in real time the composition of the collected dust: a diagram on the display informs the user about the size of the particles that have fallen into the dustbin and their number.
This function cannot be called vital, but it is perhaps useful and curious to know how much dust we have removed invisible to the eye.
In case of malfunctions, the device will not only report them, but also tell you how to eliminate them. So, for example, if the fine filter is installed incorrectly, the vacuum cleaner displays a text message, and then plays an animated picture explaining how to correctly fix the filter.
In the event of a drop in suction power, the V15 will assume that the problem is a clog in the air path or an overflow of the bin and in a short video will tell the user how to properly clear the clog or empty the bin.
During charging, the vacuum cleaner displays an animated battery on the screen, filling up in proportion to the replenishment of the battery.
With such a high level of interactivity, the user of the vacuum cleaner can really do without a printed manual: the device itself tells you how to use it. The only drawback of the display is, perhaps, too small a font: it is difficult for people with poor eyesight to read the text on the screen.
The vacuum cleaner is well balanced and, despite its rather large weight, fits comfortably in the hand and is well controlled.
The design of both electric floor nozzles does not allow vertical parking: during pauses in cleaning, the device must be supported against walls or furniture.
One of our favorite innovations has been (quite predictably) the laser light on the hard floor nozzle.
It illuminates dust and small debris much better than the usual LED, and makes cleaning more efficient and faster: uncleaned areas are clearly visible in polarized light.
The backlight works not only in darkness and twilight: in the photo below, taken in bright sunlight, contrasting shadows from small light specks are clearly visible.
Laser illumination is of course useless when cleaning carpets and upholstered furniture - the other two electric nozzles do not have it. However, it may be necessary to illuminate hard-to-reach places, and traditional LED lighting would be useful here.
We also like the angle joint that allows the use of motorized attachments: it makes cleaning hard-to-reach areas much easier. It is especially convenient to handle furniture and vertical surfaces with it.
The design of the conical electric brush used in the furniture nozzle proved its effectiveness during practical testing: we never found any long hair or wound threads on it.
In manual configuration, the vacuum cleaner is also comfortable, and the behavior of non-motorized nozzles is simple and predictable. It is equally convenient for them to clean furniture, household items, clothes and interior elements.
When cleaning the interior of a car, the vacuum cleaner shows all the advantages of high power, effectively sucking debris out of crevices and nooks and crannies. However, the relatively large dimensions of the case do not allow easy access with its help to the most inaccessible places in the cabin: a flexible corrugated tube would be useful here, but, unfortunately, it is not included in the configuration of the model in question.
The transparent body of the bin makes it easy to see how full it is. The design of the cyclone filter is very effective: a significant part of the debris remains in the lower part of the container, and only a small percentage of very fine dust is retained on the steel mesh.
Emptying the bin is easy. You can do this without getting your hands dirty. A special cuff that removes dust from the steel mesh when the container is moved from the cyclone works very efficiently: the dust remains in the container and does not spill onto the floor.
After several intensive cleanings, only a slight gray coating is visible on the fabric part of the fine filter: due to the very high efficiency of the pre-filters, very little reaches the last element.
The inside of the non-woven filter stays white and clean. No contamination was noticed on the harmonica of the cylindrical HEPA element, which completes the airflow purification chain.
Dyson V15 Detect Absolute has an excellent multi-stage filtration system, very effective at all stages.
Care
The laconic instructions did not contain detailed information on how to care for the vacuum cleaner. Using common sense, we assume that the body of the bin can be washed by thoroughly wiping and drying.
We wiped the elements of the cyclonic filters with a slightly damp cloth, and the fine filters, according to the old habit, were only dry cleaned: we know that the effectiveness of HEPA elements after washing can noticeably drop. Although in this case the manufacturer himself is full of optimism about this: Dyson claims that their HEPA filter can be washed once a month, then dried for a day, and it will be “like new”.

Suction power (what it is and how we measure it is described in a separate article) we determined when the vacuum cleaner was working with an extension tube, but without nozzles.

We measured a maximum suction power in turbo mode of 166.5 watts, which is an excellent result for this class of vacuum cleaner. The maximum power in the medium mode is 76 watts, and in the eco mode - 57 watts.
The average time for a full charge, which we tested over several cycles, was 3 hours and 40 minutes: the vacuum cleaner charges a little faster than promised by the manufacturer. The vacuum cleaner adapter consumes an average of 30.8 watts during battery power, and less than 0.1 watts in standby mode.
The noise level emitted by the device depends on the operating mode. At maximum power in the configuration for cleaning the floor, the vacuum cleaner is noisy at 78 dBA, the minimum power reduces the level to 65 dBA.
Dyson V15 battery life varies depending on the attachment used and the selected power setting. The collected data are presented in the form of a table.

Since the vacuum cleaner works at higher power without the use of electric nozzles, the battery life in manual mode is noticeably higher than with an additional load in the form of an electric motor and laser illumination.

Conclusions
We liked the Dyson V15 Detect Absolute for its high power and excellent efficiency.
In the course of practical tests, we were convinced that the company's products deservedly hold the leading positions among vacuum cleaner manufacturers: the original design of the device itself and the numerous accessories included in the kit ensure long and efficient operation.
One of the most striking features of the model was automatic power control: the vacuum cleaner independently selects the level you need right now, maintaining the optimal balance between efficiency and battery life.
The three included motorized brush heads are convenient and effective: the carpet brush is great for cleaning soft floors, the conical brush is great for furniture and clothing. But most of all, we liked the hard surface nozzle, equipped with a laser illumination system that allows you to notice missed debris in both dimness and bright sunlight.
