Breville The 3x Bluicer review: the ultimate blender-juicer
In this Breville The 3x Bluicer review we put it to the test for a number of weeks, making juices and smoothies as well as crushed ice and even smoothie bowls. The Bluicer is a smart machine that combines a powerful 1000 watt base with an interchangeable blender and juicer attachment.
I've been reviewing the best blenders and the best juicers for a while now, so I was excited to try out a machine that can do the job of both in one. While the Breville The 3x Bluicer is expensive, I think it is reasonable when you consider how much you'd pay for a good juicer and blender. The same could be said for the attachments. While they take up a lot of space, they don't necessarily take up any more space than a separate blender and juicer would.
Overall, the Breville The 3x Bluicer really impressed me in this review. Not only was it powerful enough to make all manner of iced drinks and smoothies, but it also delivered some of the best juicing I've ever experienced.

The Breville The 3x Bluicer has a somewhat bulky design. The blender attachment sits on top of the Bluicer base, and is locked into place with a sturdy metal lever. The juicer attachment takes up much more space, because it has a bin to catch the pulp from fruit and vegetables at the back of the machine.
The juicer attachment is also attached to the top of the base using the lever, and it's designed to release juice into the blender pitcher through the circular pouring spout.

The base of the Breville The 3x Bluicer has preset modes for both blending and juicing. It has a smart display with an 'On' button that can also be pressed to pause when mid-cycle.
The modes feature blending settings for self-cleaning, ice crush, smoothies, and frozen drinks. Each one lasts 60 seconds, and the monitor shows a countdown while the cycle is running.
It's a little different for the juicing modes. While there are no explicit presets, you can get the rough idea of which mode to use depending on what fruit or veg you're juicing using the image above the numbers, from 1 to 5.
There is also a handy chart that helps you identify which settings to use when jucing, with a breakdown of the different fruit and vegetables that you can use with each setting. Generally speaking though, 1 is the best setting for soft ingredients, and 5 is best for hard items such as carrots.

The base of the Breville The 3x Bluicer is pretty hefty, but it's easy to slot on the juicer and blender attachments and remove them by lifting the lever away. I would suggest leaving the Bluicer on your kitchen counter (after all, it's a good-looking machine) and storing either the blender or juicer attachments, whichever you would use less, in a cupboard.
Blending in the Breville The 3x Bluicer
I used the Breville The 3x Bluicer to make smoothies and smoothie bowls, as well as to crush ice.
The blending pitcher has a non-removable blade at the base which connects to the base and leaves a bit of a visible gap, which allows you to see the mechanism spin as it blends.
I found that the Breville The 3x Bluicer had absolutely no trouble making smoothies using fresh fruit, milk, and honey. By the time the 60-second timer had finished, I had a very smooth drink that was ready to pour.

Smoothie bowls are always a challenge for a multi-serve blender. Typically they are easier in portable blenders with personal-sized serving cups. However, I was able to make a smoothie bowl in the Breville The 3x Bluicer without too much trouble.
I set it on the ice crush mode which did a good job of working through my chunks of frozen mango, pineapple and papaya. Then I went in and stirred the remaining chunks around the base of the blender and left it to blend on smoothie mode for another minute.

By the end I had a very smooth and thick smoothie bowl, and I was impressed by how little liquid I needed to achieve an evenly blended consistency.
I did feel the lack of a regular pulse setting when using the Breville The 3x Bluicer. Most blenders have a simple pulse mode that allows you to take control while your ingredients are blending, but the Bluicer uses only the preset modes.

Juicing in the Breville The 3x Bluicer
The Bluicer is a centrifugal juicer, so it's not a rival for the best cold press juicers. I found it quite similar to the Nutribullet Juicer in how it works, because you insert your fruit into a top chute and then press it down into a chamber where your waste is expelled and the juice exits out of the side of the juicer. In this case, into the blending pitcher.
You don't need to do any food prep before using the Breville The 3x Bluicer, which is impressive. The chute is more than large enough to insert apples whole, and then it's just a case of pressing down with the pusher insert.

I made an apple and lime juice, which is a really delicious combo that tests the softest and hardest juicing settings.
I found that it took a while for the juicer to break through the skin of the apple, but once it did, it expelled a lot of juice very quickly and the pulp went straight into the waste bin.
The lime required a lot less pressing down into the juicing chamber, and I was left with a somewhat foamy drink. Despite that surface-level foam, the juice was some of the best I've ever made in a juicer. I gave the pulp a stir and a lot of the bubbles disappeared. I was able to pour out the liquids and leave the froth inside the pitcher if I didn't want to drink it.

I was seriously wowed by the pulp (or lack thereof) with this juicer. One of the most common complaints with centrifugal juicers is that they leave a lot of damp pulp, which suggests that the juicer didn't manage to extract much juice from the fruit or vegetables.
The Breville The 3x Bluicer left a relatively small amount of very dry pulp, and it was easy to scoop this out and remove it using the cleaning brush.
I was confident that there was no moisture left behind when I made the juice, which meant there was also less waste.

Cleaning the Breville The 3x Bluicer
Cleaning a blender or juicer is a much-maligned task, but the Breville The 3x Bluicer actually makes it pretty easy.
With the blending mode, there is a very capable self-clean setting that means you can just add some water and a bit of dish soap in, and press self-clean. This 60-second cleaning mode reaches almost every area of the blending pitcher, but I did have to go under the lid and around the rim to remove a few leftover bits of smoothie.
The juicer is also easy to clean. It comes with a brush that helps to scrub away the pulp and fibers from the filter, and it's easy to rinse off the bin and attachments.
Should you buy the Breville The 3x Bluicer?

The Breville The 3x Bluicer costs $299.99, so it is by no means a small investment.
In fact, it costs around the same as a high-quality blender and a high-quality juicer if you were to buy them separately. The question is, is it good enough to replace both?
I was more wowed by the juicer than the blender, which isn't to say it was bad at blending, but is more of a testament to the quality of the juicer.
I definitely think the Breville The 3x Bluicer is a worthy product for any kitchen. Everything about the design feels thoughtful and considered, and it's also very high quality from the tactile base to the durable pitcher and juicer mechanisms. If you lack storage space you may grow tired of the different attachments. Especially the juicer, which is the bulkier of the two.

Assembly
Before the first useWash the lid, internal measuring, a jug, filter bowl, filter basket, lid of a fucker, dunce lid.
JUICE
1. Place the filter bowl frame on the motor base.
2. Align the arrows at the base of the stainless steel filter basket with the arrows on the motor drive coupling and press down until it clicks to ensure a secure fit with the motor base.
3. Place the juicer cover on the filter bowl frame, positioning the bottom of the feed tray over the stainless steel filter basket. nine0011 4. Lift the safety lock lever up and place it in the two slots on both sides of the juicer cover.
5. The safety lock lever should now be in the vertical position and lock into place on the juicer lid.
6. Slide the food pusher down the food chute, aligning the groove in the food pusher with the small protrusion on the inside of the feed tube top.
7. Replace the pulp container by slightly tilting and lifting the motor base. Insert the pulp container under the juicer cover on the rear side, making sure the front edge is tucked under the back edge of the filter bowl frame and the bottom edge snaps into the bottom of the motor base.8. A drip stopper can be installed on the juice outlet. It then allows you to plug the outlet to prevent dripping after juicing.9. Close the blender jar with a lid and place the jug under the juice spout.
10. Optional: for juicing into a cup, the juice nozzle can be attached to the juice outlet.
BLENDING
1. Place the blender jar in a vertical position on the motor base. The blender handle can be positioned to the left or right of the appliance.
2. Lift the safety lock lever up and place it in the two grooves on both sides of the blender.
3. Add food or liquid to the blender jar, being careful not to exceed the “MAX” mark. Place the blender lid firmly on top of the blender jar.
Insert the transparent inner measuring cap into the blender lid and turn clockwise until it locks into place. The jug features a Breville® Assist™ lid. This allows the lid to fit snugly on the blender jar, avoiding shifting during operation. nine0003
4. Make sure the blender lid spout cap is latched and closed. The rip-off design allows the user to remove the cap easily with a simple lever.
After assembling the appliance into a blender or juicer configuration, plug the power cord into a 120V outlet. Press the ON | OFF button to turn on the appliance. software | The OFF button will light up. “0:00” will light up on the LCD screen of the timer.

BLENDING
The appliance has 5 preset functions:
GREEN SMOOTHIE, SMOOTHIE, PULSE / ICE CRUSH, AUTO CLEAN and ICE COCKTAIL.
These pre-programmed cycles automatically adjust mixing time and speed to optimize mixing results. These programs are only activated when your appliance is set to blender mode. They cannot be used if your device is configured for juicing. Select the desired function by pressing the corresponding function button. The device will start working and the button of the selected function will light up. The timer will start counting down and the program will automatically end when it reaches "0:00". The program and the timer can be paused by pressing the pause button. Resume by pressing the soft button again, or cancel by pressing pause again. The program can also be canceled at any time by pressing the ON | OFF. Turning the speed control will interrupt the program and put the blender into manual mode starting at Speed 1.
GREEN SMOOTHIE
For blending whole fruits/vegetables into a smooth drink. The combination of highspeed profiles breaks the strong fibers into very fine particles.
SMOOTHIE
For dairy-based smoothies, the combination of speed and momentum is designed to combine and aerate ingredients for a smooth, creamy texture.
PULSE / ICE CRUSH
Continuous pulse program designed to grind food to a smooth consistency or crush ice cubes. Use the PULSE button if the processed food is too thick or coarse to circulate in the blender jar. The maximum number of ice cubes that the blender can mix without liquid in the jug at one time is 10 standard ice cubes or approx. 10 oz (280 g). nine0003
AUTO CLEAN
Use to remove most of the ingredients from the walls and blades of the blender. Add 2 cups (16 oz) of warm soapy water and press the AUTO CLEAN button. For more difficult-to-clean, sticky, or thick ingredients, add ½ teaspoon of dish soap to boost cleaning power. For best results, clean the blender jar immediately after use. The automatic cleaning function only cleans the blender jar.

FROZEN COCKTAIL
For making cocktails and ice-based drinks such as Margaritas, Daiquiris and Slushies. Ice crushing program followed by a short mix.
MANUAL OPERATION
Speed dial
BLENDING
Turn the speed dial clockwise to select one of 10 speed settings from slow STIR (speed setting 1) to very fast PULVERIZE (speed setting 10). The timer will start counting down and the mixing will stop when it reaches "1:00". Mixing can be paused by pressing the pause button. Press the pause button again to cancel, or turn the dial to resume mixing from Speed 1. To stop mixing, turn the speed dial counterclockwise back to READY or press the ON | OFF nine0003
VAC Q™ COMPATIBLE
3X Bluicer Pro is compatible with the Vac Q vacuum pump. Vac Q enhances the texture, color and taste of some of your blends. For some recipes, the flavor is greatly enhanced, providing smoother green smoothies, creamier spreads, gentle sauces, and silkier gazpacho soup.
For milk-based shakes, the air that passes through the froth and lingers in the shake imparts a light and bubbling texture. Vac Q sold separately. nine0003
JUICE
Wash the fruits and vegetables of your choice to extract the juice. Most fruits and vegetables, such as apples, carrots and cucumbers, do not need to be cut or cut to size as they will fit whole into the input tray. Before use, make sure that vegetables such as beets, carrots, etc. are cleaned of dirt, washed well and trimmed from the leaves.
1. Plug the power cord into a 120V outlet.

Switch on the juicer
2. Turn the dial to the desired speed. Use lower numbers (1-5) for soft fruits and vegetables and higher numbers (6-10) for hard fruits and vegetables. See the Speed Selection Guide Chart on the next page to select the speed and product type for maximum yield.
The "low" range, although it may not maximize the yield of some products, allows juice to be extracted at a much lower noise level.

Dishwasher

Cleaning parts in the dishwasher can also damage parts, so check parts regularly and stop using the product if you notice any signs of damage.

1. Place the filter bowl frame on the motor base.
2. Align the arrows at the base of the stainless steel filter basket with the arrows on the motor drive coupling and press down until it clicks to ensure a secure fit with the motor base.
3. Place the juicer cover on the filter bowl frame, positioning the bottom of the feed tray over the stainless steel filter basket. nine0011 4. Lift the safety lock lever up and place it in the two slots on both sides of the juicer cover.
5. The safety lock lever should now be in the vertical position and lock into place on the juicer lid.
6. Slide the food pusher down the food chute, aligning the groove in the food pusher with the small protrusion on the inside of the feed tube top.
7. Replace the pulp container by slightly tilting and lifting the motor base. Insert the pulp container under the juicer cover on the rear side, making sure the front edge is tucked under the back edge of the filter bowl frame and the bottom edge snaps into the bottom of the motor base.8. A drip stopper can be installed on the juice outlet. It then allows you to plug the outlet to prevent dripping after juicing.9. Close the blender jar with a lid and place the jug under the juice spout.
10. Optional: for juicing into a cup, the juice nozzle can be attached to the juice outlet.
BLENDING
1. Place the blender jar in a vertical position on the motor base. The blender handle can be positioned to the left or right of the appliance.
2. Lift the safety lock lever up and place it in the two grooves on both sides of the blender.
3. Add food or liquid to the blender jar, being careful not to exceed the “MAX” mark. Place the blender lid firmly on top of the blender jar.
Insert the transparent inner measuring cap into the blender lid and turn clockwise until it locks into place. The jug features a Breville® Assist™ lid. This allows the lid to fit snugly on the blender jar, avoiding shifting during operation. nine0003
4. Make sure the blender lid spout cap is latched and closed. The rip-off design allows the user to remove the cap easily with a simple lever.

The appliance has 5 preset functions:

These pre-programmed cycles automatically adjust mixing time and speed to optimize mixing results. These programs are only activated when your appliance is set to blender mode. They cannot be used if your device is configured for juicing. Select the desired function by pressing the corresponding function button. The device will start working and the button of the selected function will light up. The timer will start counting down and the program will automatically end when it reaches "0:00". The program and the timer can be paused by pressing the pause button. Resume by pressing the soft button again, or cancel by pressing pause again. The program can also be canceled at any time by pressing the ON | OFF. Turning the speed control will interrupt the program and put the blender into manual mode starting at Speed 1.
GREEN SMOOTHIE
For blending whole fruits/vegetables into a smooth drink. The combination of highspeed profiles breaks the strong fibers into very fine particles.
SMOOTHIE
For dairy-based smoothies, the combination of speed and momentum is designed to combine and aerate ingredients for a smooth, creamy texture.
PULSE / ICE CRUSH
Continuous pulse program designed to grind food to a smooth consistency or crush ice cubes. Use the PULSE button if the processed food is too thick or coarse to circulate in the blender jar. The maximum number of ice cubes that the blender can mix without liquid in the jug at one time is 10 standard ice cubes or approx. 10 oz (280 g). nine0003
AUTO CLEAN
Use to remove most of the ingredients from the walls and blades of the blender. Add 2 cups (16 oz) of warm soapy water and press the AUTO CLEAN button. For more difficult-to-clean, sticky, or thick ingredients, add ½ teaspoon of dish soap to boost cleaning power. For best results, clean the blender jar immediately after use. The automatic cleaning function only cleans the blender jar.

Wash the fruits and vegetables of your choice to extract the juice.
