1. Enhance a romantic bedroom with a mural
For anyone not in the know, a wall mural is any artwork that is either applied or painted directly to your walls or ceiling ideas. The beauty of wall mural ideas is that you can have a large-scale design on your bedroom walls, from a blousy floral to a contemporary painted design, a landscape or an architectural wonder that will have you gazing at it – in romantic wonder – for hours.
‘Over recent times, there has been vast growth in high-tech digital printing which has changed the game, allowing a huge amount of experimentation,’ explains Martin Waller, Founder of Andrew Martin . ‘The choice is extensive, but it is a highly personal one, thoroughly dependent on the room, not to mention your mood and personality. Scenic murals have taken the interior world by storm in recent years, and frankly, anything goes when it comes to design.’
The key is to choose one color that’s used in the mural, and use it elsewhere in the space. It will become your base, then you can use it for the furniture too, if you want a cohesive look.
2. Put the focus on the bed
If you are hoping to create the ultimate romantic bedroom, then four-poster bed ideas are a must.
‘I have always slept in a four-poster bed – for me, it is my sanctuary within the bedroom,’ says William Yeoward , interior designer. ‘A four-poster also gives the bedroom a point of focus which, of course, should be the bed.’
Decorating styles for private spaces take inspiration from the romantic, refined modes of 18th-century Parisian homes. To create intimacy and an aesthetic distinct from that of open-plan or family spaces, a four-poster bedroom with a delicate canopies will only serve to enhance the romantic nature of the room.
For a truly intimate yet carefully-curated space, limit your space to just two bedroom color ideas. Here, a color combination of yellow and green room ideas are amongst the richest of spaces – perfect for adding warmth, and moody elegance, to a romantic bedroom.
3. Exude romance with a red color scheme
Red bedroom ideas can be a tricky color to pin down, but choose a shade with more traditional leanings and it will breathe life into any space. Country homes in particular lend themselves to this warming hue because it brings out the charm in elements like rustic wood, gilded frames and aged leather, and as red is known to stimulate the mood, it's is ideal for your romantic bedroom ideas. Harmonize with soft creams and greys or make it beautifully festive with metallic or mirrored finishes.
‘This tone works perfectly in a scheme that is rather dark, or which suffers from a lack of natural light,' says Elizabeth Hay, founder, Elizabeth Hay Design. 'Not only does it inject a space with brightness and cheer, but it will also bring out – and highlight – any accent color ideas used elsewhere in the room.’
4. Set the scene with the right lighting
In a bedroom, different levels and types of bedroom lighting ideas can help switch the mood from practical – getting ready for work, say – to relaxing or reading before going to sleep. And it’s something that needs to be considered when designing a romantic bedroom. Never underestimate the quality of good lighting in the bedroom – it is just as important to your wellbeing and preservation of eyesight, as it is to aesthetics.
‘Good lighting is mood enhancing, making it perfect for romantic settings. The most important thing with all lighting is that it should be dimmable. Generally, I prefer low-level lighting, as it’s more ambient, flattering and atmospheric,’ says interior designer Sophie Ashby .
5. Perfect the art of layering
The new romantic bedroom of the is all about layering – whether that’s tonal variations of color on different surfaces, a mix of patterns that playfully explore a particular palette or a dynamic blend of textures, as shown in these scheme by Katie Lion, an interior designer with Kitesgrove . 'Two or three variations of each is enough to develop a richly pleasing space that is the last thing you see at night and the first thing the next day,' says Katie.
Interior designer Katharine Paravicini agrees: The designer is adept at adding small points of visual intrigue to her schemes: ‘Interest and lots of subtle detailing are often used to create or enhance a romantic bedroom – with the use of trims on the curtains and also on upholstery. '
Headboard ideas can totally transform a romantic bedroom – but there's much more to them than simply placing a padded board behind your bed's head.
‘A headboard is not just about comfort; with a little thought it can transform a bedroom scheme by providing the perfect blank canvas to try out interesting color and pattern combinations,’ says interior designer Natalia Miyar. ‘I love upholstering headboards in bright, decorative fabrics that draw the eye to the focal point of the room, elevating the bed itself to a style statement.'
7. Use curtains and drapes for privacy
Privacy in the home is vital, and no more so than in a romantic bedroom, especially if your bedroom is at ground level.
The requirements of window treatments and bedroom curtain ideas will vary from room to room, but they are all designed to provide levels of privacy, shade, soundproofing and warmth. In this three-bedroom Belgravia maisonette design by Gunter & Co , the bedroom has double doors which lead out onto a patio. Wall-to-wall curtains were added in front, not only to help block out light and sound when the room is occupied, but by using heavy fabric floor-to-ceiling, the curtains will also help keep out any draughts.
As well as these practical elements, the rich textures and deep folds of the Christopher Farr Cloth fabric in the curtains help to create a romantic atmosphere in the bedroom when drawn.
8. Chanel your favorite holiday destination
You don’t have to put your artistic nature to the test when it comes to picture walls. There are plenty of bedroom wallpaper ideas that are designed to do just that with trompe l’oeil illustrations that can quickly add an extra dimension even in small spaces.
For a romantic bedroom scheme, turn to images of escapism, like this tropical pictorial wallpaper that evokes the memory of faraway shores. Complete the look by choosing bedroom furniture, bedding and cushions in earthy ochre and a pinch of ginger for a fully immersive design.
9. Take inspiration from a boutique hotel
A matching upholstered headboard and footboard may sound like an unachievable luxury bedroom idea, but is actually quite easy to do. You’ll need plywood for the board, wadding to pad the piece out, fabric of your choice, as well as trim or edging – plus a staple gun to bring it all together. Small panels with patterned fabric add a subtle amount of detail, such as in this framed bed, but it can be fun to play around with dimensions too. Consider creating an extra wide or tall headboard for dramatic effect, as it’ll bring the focus on the room straight to the bed.
10. Take a maximalist approach with plenty of pattern
'I’ve always been a maximalist, a lover of ornamentation,' says renowned designer, Matthew Williamson. 'I want to create things that make others feel happy. I’ve never been able to get my head around minimalism or flat color. When I start a room design, I think about how I can make an empty space give joy and embody a sense of romanticism. '
'Wallpaper ideas brings personality, energy and whimsy to a space,' her adds. 'It can function as a focal point or as a backdrop. I prefer wrapping rooms as opposed to using a feature wall or papering a chimney breast.'
'I would advise less confident decorators to keep the color palette tight in a scheme for a calm overall result. Restrict yourself to half a dozen colors and try not to veer from them.'
How can I make my bedroom romantic?
‘Lighting is one of the most important elements, particularly in a romantic bedroom,' says Sheena Murphy, partner, Nune. 'A small or cozy bedroom can be incredibly inviting and considered lighting can take a room from feeling stark and pokey to sweet and intimate.'
'Our number one rule is to add dimmers to all light switches so you can adjust the mood, and having one decorative light overhead (no recessed lighting) and two bedside lamps – if space permits – is preferred, so again, you can amp up or soften the ambience, according to how you feel,' adds Sheena.
What is the most romantic color for a bedroom?
The most romantic colors for a bedroom are the ones that make you feel happier at home.
‘We would usually lean towards quieter palette combinations in a bedroom, but darker shades can work really well within romantic spaces,' says James Thurstan Waterworth, founder, Thurstan. 'They create a perception of depth and lend a cozy, cocoon-like feel – welcome in every intimate bedroom. For the walls, we suggest a deep midnight blue or a petrol green, then lift this by layering careful accents of color, perhaps a burnt orange or a similar earth-toned hue – ochre, terracotta or a softer peach.’

Design of a bedroom for a girl
Everyone knows that in order to develop an interior, the designer must have at least some idea of the character of the person who will live in this interior. And the character of a girl can be changeable, mysterious and contradictory.
Creating a suitable bedroom design for a girl is not an easy task for a designer.
Let's start with a romantic bedroom. It should be noted that a bedroom for a girl in a romantic style is not just an idea for an interior, but an already well-formed style in Western design.
For a romantic style bedroom, as a rule, lighter colors of walls and textiles are used. It can be pink, peach, light green or olive.
The most popular colors for this style now:
- beige;
- pale yellow;
- blue;
- lilac.
As you might guess, the favorite palette of the romantic style is the pastel and fruit palette, as shown in the photo.
Don't get too carried away with white. However, a floral pattern on the bedding and something unusual from accessories like a cage with a bird is what you need. Openwork, by the way, is very suitable for a romantic style; openwork beds and the same bedside tables or dressing table look very romantic.
A dressing table is a very important item in a girl's bedroom. In a romantic style, you can use such openwork tables of intricate shapes, as in the photo, and a more concise and simple option. But a prerequisite for this style is the decoration of the room with various trinkets and pictures above the mirror, and there must also be a plump ottoman. If all this is to your liking, then this is your style.
Bedroom design for a girl photo in a romantic bedroom includes a lot of textiles, in the form of light curtains with large folds, bedspreads, several decorative pillows, plaids, bedside rugs, etc.
A few words about errors. Do not use too much lace, frills and beautiful bedding. The romantic style of a bedroom is not necessarily luxury, expensive accessories, lambrequins and alcoves. An almost forgotten word - modesty, perfectly characterizes both a romantic bedroom for a girl and a romantic girl herself.
Modern style bedroom interior design for a young business lady
If you are a business girl, then a modern style bedroom that does not require much maintenance and leaves more free time is more suitable for you.
Modern style for some reason scares off most people - it is associated with almost empty space, not very comfortable furniture and a minimum of decor. But this is not so, the modern style is very decorative. Here you can afford a variety of materials and colors - pay attention to the photo.
One wall was highlighted with exquisite wallpaper with a contrasting pattern, using rich colors for finishing. If a girl’s bedroom should have a work area and roomy furniture for numerous important things, then the modern style will suit her very well. It will make it possible to place a large number of things without cluttering up the space.
Colorful colors and original engineering solutions will suit you if you don't want to spend a lot of time cleaning and if you are not a fan of knick-knacks.
In general, the modern bedroom design for girls is quite popular today. The combination of “white + bright” makes it easy to make changes to the interior. Make bright accessories that are easily replaceable - a bedspread, a picture, a rug.
However, many girls prefer dark colors. And this is quite natural. Dark gray, dark purple and even black tones somehow fascinate them. The main thing is in dark shades, so as not to spoil the room, use them correctly. Pretty successful combination of dark gray, orange and yellow shades
Youth means maximalism, inconsistency, strong feelings, and you should not pretend that all this is alien to girls. All this is still typical. So - and this is quite normal if there are dark shades in the girl's room. The bedroom will look contrasting and outrageous.
Contrast is also a good idea. And for this, all you need to do is paint the walls in light colors and purchase dark furniture to set the contrast. And now you can use bed linen of any shade, both light and dark, and bright, and colorful, and each time you will get a slightly different look of the interior. Only the floor in such interiors is better to let it be light.
Design of a bedroom in Zen style
Renovation of a bedroom for a girl is desirable to do in a certain style. However, choosing the right style for the interior is not so easy. We offer to consider the style " Zen " . It is perfect for more balanced natures, as well as for those who get stressed at school or work.
This is a clean modern design that combines natural materials and discreet colors in a Japanese style. Bed on short legs, subdued light. Such a bedroom can provide the girl with an excellent good rest. Zen is no frills, so if you're a minimalist but don't like cool minimalism, you might like Zen.
Only natural colors and materials are used here; bamboo, wood, straw. Massive low furniture. Pretty free space.

Romantic style bedroom, bedroom decoration
Published: 02/14/2011, Viewed: 1934
The bedroom is one of the most intimate and personal spaces in the home. A bedroom in a romantic style will be a wonderful gift for you and your significant other.
The bedroom, decorated in romantic style , will become your space that will give you unforgettable emotions. Bring some romance into your life! Let your bedroom be not just a place where you sleep and relax, but a source of inspiration and joy! What does a bedroom in a romantic style look like?
Everyone can describe it differently, but of course it is, first of all, a space for two. There should not be a lot of exclusively feminine (ruffles, frills) and exclusively masculine and brutal. Romantic style is a style for a couple that combines the feminine and masculine. A romantic bedroom can awaken in you the desire to spend more time together and alone with each other.
The main thing in the bedroom is the bed. It is around this piece of furniture that the composition of space should be built. It is from its design that the key in which your bedroom will be decorated depends. In the interior of the bedroom, the bed can be of different shapes, heights and lengths, with or without a headboard, with or without a canopy, it can be a modern bed of an unusual shape, but the primary point in the bed is the mattress. A good sleep and rest depends on a comfortable mattress, which in turn guarantees energy and strength for the whole day.
Two types of mattresses are currently the most popular. Orthopedic mattresses based on blocks of independent springs are almost all modern mattresses. Each spring in the mattress is in a separate cover - this allows you to distribute the load and maintain the spine in the correct position throughout the sleep. Springless mattresses are mattresses based on highly elastic blocks of natural or artificial latex, polyurethane foam or interlayers of coconut, sisal or felt.
Be sure to choose bedding that suits your mood and the overall style of the room for a comfortable and suitable bed for you. We advise you to have several completely different sets. Choose the best for you. Choose your favorite material, make sure that it does not cause irritation and allergies.
Lighting can be the decisive factor in creating a romantic mood in the bedroom. There should be a lot of light, but it should not be bright and defiant. Choose from multi-level lighting options. Let the lamps give a soft diffused light. Perhaps you should pay attention to the devices, the brightness, intensity and color of the light in which you can adjust. Thus, you can easily create a unique environment in your bedroom. Electric lamps can be supplemented with candles. They can be placed on beautiful coasters or candlesticks that support the main style motif of the interior. Soft light from candles, playful shadows - a romantic and mysterious world is created so simply! Of course, it is worth considering safe places for placing candles and in no case should you leave lit candles unattended.
The easiest and most effective way to bring a romantic mood to the bedroom is to arrange fresh flowers in vases. It can be one rose in a tall vase and a large bouquet of wildflowers. The main thing is that the flowers are your favorite. You can achieve this effect all year round if you choose flowering perennial houseplants in beautiful pots that match the style.
Music in the bedroom should be, your favorite, both of you should like it. Pleasant music cheers you up and easily sets you on a romantic wave. It is better not to overload the bedroom with a TV and a computer, but it is worth having a small music player in the bedroom. Pleasant music will help create an atmosphere of harmony and bliss even in the most unpretentious interior.
Do you like looking at fire? The fireplace in the bedroom creates a feeling of warmth and closeness to nature. Now this effect can be achieved in the apartment. A wide selection of electric fireplaces allows you to choose a good solution for the urban interior of the bedroom.
