So we have a pulled together all our favorite looks for romantic bedrooms, that yes, are perfect for couples designing a bedroom together, but are also for all the single people out there wanting to feel like they are sleeping in a gorgeous hotel room every night. ..

1. Pile up soft layers and textures

Just looking at the bed is making us feel instantly more sleepy and relaxed. All those lovely soft textures and muted, blush hues, it all feels so... romantic. And this look couldn't be simpler really, just pile up those throw pillows and add an extra textured blanket and you are basically there. Pick a neutral color palette that's perfect for couples' bedrooms – think cream, beige and soft pinks and oranges to give the space even more of a romantic, rosy feel.

'The inner sanctuary within our home, bedrooms should reflect the feeling we wish to capture while spending time there and this can vary from romantic to invigorating.' says Helen Shaw, Director of Benjamin Moore . 'Pared back, dusky pastel shades are wonderfully soothing and feel tranquil whilst also adding a hint of color to build a bedroom scheme around. Muted pinks and yellows or, sage greens and sky blues are great for conjuring a romantic feel, which will encourage a feeling of calm.'

2. Invest in the best bedding for a romantic bedroom

Want your bedroom at home to have the feel of a hotel bedroom? Simple solution, invest in the best sheets. It might seem like such a small thing in the grand scale of your room's design but honestly, you'll notice a difference. Not only in how you sleep and how insanely luxurious your bed now feels but your room will give off a more expensive air too.

'The bed is a key focal point in the room so I always try to dress it beautifully with a great bedspread, cushions and a throw across the bottom of the bed. I change the throw and cushions depending on the time of year, white faux fur in winter and a lighter weight more pashmina style throw in the summer. Textured layers always look fantastic on a bed.' says Chrissie Rucker, founder of The White Company .

'Layers on a bed not only look great, but help those of us with partners find our right temperature too. If you tend to be warmer than your partner, a cotton bedspread and throw that can be pulled up if needed works really well for you both.'

We'd say pick a crisp white or near to white set, and go with something that is made from 100% natural fibers – cotton (Egyptian if you are feeling extra fancy), silk or linen. And look out for high-thread counts too, between 180 and 300 is what you are after.

3. Create the ultimate romantic bedroom with a four poster

Does it get any more romantic than a four-poster bed? And we aren't talking a cumbersome, mahogany Elizabethan number here, something contemporary and slimline like you see in this bedroom is all you need to up the romantic vibes. You could even take it a step further and add a floaty canopy in a gauzy fabric.

4. Keep it light and airy

Picking a color palette for a couple's bedroom that suits both tastes and still feels romantic can be tricky. But our advice would be to stick with something light and airy like this gorgeous pale gray. There's a lovely laid-back, breezy feel to this space that, despite being simple, does still have an air of romance. The chandelier and the touches of pink warm up those cool tones but don't interfere with the elegance of the room.

If you love this space, be sure to check out our grey bedroom ideas gallery too.

5. Pick a luxe velvet headboard

A velvet headboard just oozes sophistication and romance. And we get it, pink velvet in a romantic bedroom, groundbreaking, but when paired with this deep teal green it takes on a whole need moody vibe and turns pink from being a 'girly' color into something so much more sultry and grown up.

6. Create a hotel vibe by layering the same color

Wondering what colors to go for to create a romantic vibe in a couple's bedroom? We'd say stick to a relatively limited color palette of one or two colors. Pick a color you like and then use different hues of that same color to add light and depth. Note how in this bedroom there's a couple of different tones of that gorgeous blush pink going on, so despite the use of one color the room doesn't feel flat. Oh and that pop of green! Who ever said pink and green should never be seen?

'Accent colors work really in bedrooms and shades such as pinks and greens produce a really romantic aesthetic and there are many ways in which to create interplay between the shades, however, my favorite is combining lighter ice cream shades of these colors. I love this look in a bedroom as it feels soft and subtle whilst looking fresh and optimistic. It is a great look to wake up to, especially on a sunny morning. It can be used in so many ways from picking out all the woodwork in one or the other color through to creating a false horizon. It works well with furniture especially freestanding or fitted wardrobes which can often come in natural wood or plain white finishes. '  says Helen Shaw, Director of Benjamin Moore .

7. Get your romantic bedroom lighting sorted

'Lighting is essential for creating a romantic atmosphere.' says Mary Buchanan of Laura Ashley lighting. 'Layer lighting to avoid it becoming lackluster and without ambiance; a combination of wall lights, table lamps and floor lamps are perfecting for doing this, as placing lights at different heights is how you can create a lovely, cosy feel. Dimmer switches are a fantastic option, if you need to take a bedroom from practical to passionate.'

We love the look of pendant lights hung at eye level and used as bedside lights, it gives a very luxury hotel feel, plus it frees up space on your bedside tables too. Wall sconces are another lovely addition and can give a romantic style.

8. Wallpaper the ceiling for a whimsical feel

If you want to add some pattern to a couple's bedroom, wallpaper is the easiest way to do so. Wallpaper on all four walls can be a tad overwhelming, especially if you are decorating a smaller bedroom or a loft space, so take your wallpaper to the ceiling. For a romantic feel opt for something soft, florals are a go to, but if you want something more contemporary just look for whimsical patterns in muted hues. Pair your print with darker colors to ground the look and make it feel more modern.

We have plenty more bedroom wallpaper ideas over in our gallery if you are after more inspiration.

9. Create a unique feature wall

Firstly, loving the colors in this bedroom. Fresh and contemporary but with a soft romantic feel, greys and pink are definitely a winning combo. But let's talk about that feature wall. Of course, the collection of mirrors bounce light around the room instantly making it feel bigger and brighter, but they also bring texture to the space and a lovely contrast with the contemporary style of the rest of the room. This is the perfect alternative to a gallery wall – and a great option when decorating a couple's bedroom as you don't have to argue over the artwork you want to hang.

10. Add touches of antiquity

Mixing old with new, or combining different styles, is what gives a bedroom interest and personality. It's also a great look to go for if you are designing a room together and want to bring in both of your styles. Think about styles that work well together, go for looks have similar shapes, textures and elements. Say Scandi and Mid-century modern, boho and beach house, traditional and maximalist.

Or you could go down the route of picking one overarching style and adding a few pieces that stand out from a different style or era like you see here with the mirror. When mixing styles just be sure to stick to a relatively limited color palette so there is still some cohesiveness to the space.

11. Add softness underfoot with a rug

We know carpet isn't exactly on trend right now, but there is something so luxurious about a wall to wall plush carpet underfoot. However, if you don't want to part with your wooden flooring a large area rug can add just as much warmth and add to all those lovely layers of texture that are key to a romantic bedroom. Just Be sure it is big enough to fit under your bed and your bedside tables too.

12. Go for a moody vibe

Black walls instantly create a more intimate and, dare we say it, sexy bedroom. Pair with a four poster, like in this gorgeous space, for a really enveloping cocooning feeling that surprisingly works really well in smaller bedrooms too. Hang prints to break up all that darkness, keep the ceiling light so it doesn't get too claustrophobic, and add plenty of texture with your bedlinen to soften up the look.

How can couples decorate their bedroom?

The best way for couples to decorate their bedroom is for each one of you to create a mood board of looks you like and decide on what your must-have pieces are. From there look for common ground, say colors you both like, or an era you both agree on. Then it's just about blending your style together and compromising on elements of the room that might be less important to one person, but a deal-breaker for the other.

What is the best color for a romantic bedroom?

The best colors for a romantic bedroom will of course come down to your personal style, but light, soft colors are always guaranteed to create a more romantic vibe. Think whites, creams, light greys, pinks, and pale oranges. However, if for you a romantic bedroom means something a little more moody and dramatic, darker jewel tones are also an option. Deep purple, green and even black can create a really intimate space, especially if you go with it on all four walls.

Whatever colors you go for, the most important thing is to ensure those colors work together to create a cohesive feel. Just be sure to always order swatches so you can see what your potential colors look like together in your space.

How can you make a bedroom feel more romantic?

Lighting. Lighting and nice bedding. These are key for making a bedroom feel more romantic and both are things you can easily switch up in your current bedroom without having to do a total overhaul of the space. Oh and candles, how have we got this far and not mentioned candles! Always have one on your bedside table so you can create some instant ambiance.

1. Enhance a romantic bedroom with a mural

For anyone not in the know, a wall mural is any artwork that is either applied or painted directly to your walls or ceiling ideas. The beauty of wall mural ideas is that you can have a large-scale design on your bedroom walls, from a blousy floral to a contemporary painted design, a landscape or an architectural wonder that will have you gazing at it – in romantic wonder – for hours.

‘Over recent times, there has been vast growth in high-tech digital printing which has changed the game, allowing a huge amount of experimentation,’ explains Martin Waller, Founder of Andrew Martin . ‘The choice is extensive, but it is a highly personal one, thoroughly dependent on the room, not to mention your mood and personality. Scenic murals have taken the interior world by storm in recent years, and frankly, anything goes when it comes to design.’

The key is to choose one color that’s used in the mural, and use it elsewhere in the space. It will become your base, then you can use it for the furniture too, if you want a cohesive look.

2. Put the focus on the bed

If you are hoping to create the ultimate romantic bedroom, then four-poster bed ideas are a must.

‘I have always slept in a four-poster bed – for me, it is my sanctuary within the bedroom,’ says William Yeoward , interior designer. ‘A four-poster also gives the bedroom a point of focus which, of course, should be the bed.’

Decorating styles for private spaces take inspiration from the romantic, refined modes of 18th-century Parisian homes. To create intimacy and an aesthetic distinct from that of open-plan or family spaces, a four-poster bedroom with a delicate canopies will only serve to enhance the romantic nature of the room.

For a truly intimate yet carefully-curated space, limit your space to just two bedroom color ideas. Here, a color combination of yellow and green room ideas are amongst the richest of spaces – perfect for adding warmth, and moody elegance, to a romantic bedroom.

3. Exude romance with a red color scheme

Red bedroom ideas can be a tricky color to pin down, but choose a shade with more traditional leanings and it will breathe life into any space. Country homes in particular lend themselves to this warming hue because it brings out the charm in elements like rustic wood, gilded frames and aged leather, and as red is known to stimulate the mood, it's is ideal for your romantic bedroom ideas. Harmonize with soft creams and greys or make it beautifully festive with metallic or mirrored finishes.

‘This tone works perfectly in a scheme that is rather dark, or which suffers from a lack of natural light,' says Elizabeth Hay, founder, Elizabeth Hay Design. 'Not only does it inject a space with brightness and cheer, but it will also bring out – and highlight – any accent color ideas used elsewhere in the room.’

4. Set the scene with the right lighting

In a bedroom, different levels and types of bedroom lighting ideas can help switch the mood from practical – getting ready for work, say – to relaxing or reading before going to sleep. And it’s something that needs to be considered when designing a romantic bedroom. Never underestimate the quality of good lighting in the bedroom – it is just as important to your wellbeing and preservation of eyesight, as it is to aesthetics.

‘Good lighting is mood enhancing, making it perfect for romantic settings. The most important thing with all lighting is that it should be dimmable. Generally, I prefer low-level lighting, as it’s more ambient, flattering and atmospheric,’ says interior designer Sophie Ashby .

5. Perfect the art of layering

The new romantic bedroom of the is all about layering – whether that’s tonal variations of color on different surfaces, a mix of patterns that playfully explore a particular palette or a dynamic blend of textures, as shown in these scheme by Katie Lion, an interior designer with Kitesgrove . 'Two or three variations of each is enough to develop a richly pleasing space that is the last thing you see at night and the first thing the next day,' says Katie.

Interior designer Katharine Paravicini agrees: The designer is adept at adding small points of visual intrigue to her schemes: ‘Interest and lots of subtle detailing are often used to create or enhance a romantic bedroom – with the use of trims on the curtains and also on upholstery. '

Headboard ideas can totally transform a romantic bedroom – but there's much more to them than simply placing a padded board behind your bed's head.

‘A headboard is not just about comfort; with a little thought it can transform a bedroom scheme by providing the perfect blank canvas to try out interesting color and pattern combinations,’ says interior designer Natalia Miyar. ‘I love upholstering headboards in bright, decorative fabrics that draw the eye to the focal point of the room, elevating the bed itself to a style statement.'

7. Use curtains and drapes for privacy

Privacy in the home is vital, and no more so than in a romantic bedroom, especially if your bedroom is at ground level.

The requirements of window treatments and bedroom curtain ideas will vary from room to room, but they are all designed to provide levels of privacy, shade, soundproofing and warmth. In this three-bedroom Belgravia maisonette design by Gunter & Co , the bedroom has double doors which lead out onto a patio. Wall-to-wall curtains were added in front, not only to help block out light and sound when the room is occupied, but by using heavy fabric floor-to-ceiling, the curtains will also help keep out any draughts.

As well as these practical elements, the rich textures and deep folds of the Christopher Farr Cloth fabric in the curtains help to create a romantic atmosphere in the bedroom when drawn.

8. Chanel your favorite holiday destination

You don’t have to put your artistic nature to the test when it comes to picture walls. There are plenty of bedroom wallpaper ideas that are designed to do just that with trompe l’oeil illustrations that can quickly add an extra dimension even in small spaces.

For a romantic bedroom scheme, turn to images of escapism, like this tropical pictorial wallpaper that evokes the memory of faraway shores. Complete the look by choosing bedroom furniture, bedding and cushions in earthy ochre and a pinch of ginger for a fully immersive design.

9. Take inspiration from a boutique hotel

A matching upholstered headboard and footboard may sound like an unachievable luxury bedroom idea, but is actually quite easy to do. You’ll need plywood for the board, wadding to pad the piece out, fabric of your choice, as well as trim or edging – plus a staple gun to bring it all together. Small panels with patterned fabric add a subtle amount of detail, such as in this framed bed, but it can be fun to play around with dimensions too. Consider creating an extra wide or tall headboard for dramatic effect, as it’ll bring the focus on the room straight to the bed.

10. Take a maximalist approach with plenty of pattern

'I’ve always been a maximalist, a lover of ornamentation,' says renowned designer, Matthew Williamson. 'I want to create things that make others feel happy. I’ve never been able to get my head around minimalism or flat color. When I start a room design, I think about how I can make an empty space give joy and embody a sense of romanticism. '

'Wallpaper ideas brings personality, energy and whimsy to a space,' her adds. 'It can function as a focal point or as a backdrop. I prefer wrapping rooms as opposed to using a feature wall or papering a chimney breast.'

'I would advise less confident decorators to keep the color palette tight in a scheme for a calm overall result. Restrict yourself to half a dozen colors and try not to veer from them.'

How can I make my bedroom romantic?

‘Lighting is one of the most important elements, particularly in a romantic bedroom,' says Sheena Murphy, partner, Nune. 'A small or cozy bedroom can be incredibly inviting and considered lighting can take a room from feeling stark and pokey to sweet and intimate.'

'Our number one rule is to add dimmers to all light switches so you can adjust the mood, and having one decorative light overhead (no recessed lighting) and two bedside lamps – if space permits – is preferred, so again, you can amp up or soften the ambience, according to how you feel,' adds Sheena.

What is the most romantic color for a bedroom?

The most romantic colors for a bedroom are the ones that make you feel happier at home.

‘We would usually lean towards quieter palette combinations in a bedroom, but darker shades can work really well within romantic spaces,' says James Thurstan Waterworth, founder, Thurstan. 'They create a perception of depth and lend a cozy, cocoon-like feel – welcome in every intimate bedroom. For the walls, we suggest a deep midnight blue or a petrol green, then lift this by layering careful accents of color, perhaps a burnt orange or a similar earth-toned hue – ochre, terracotta or a softer peach.’

Not enough romance in the bedroom? Add warmth and sensuality to your interior with decor: 12 beautiful and delicate ideas to create the right atmosphere

Many people fall asleep in minimalist fashion bedrooms and dream of a romantic interior “like in the movies”. For example, as in a cozy English bedroom from the film "Exchange Vacation" or about a bright juicy interior, as in the film "Amelie". How to make a dream bedroom without completely redrawing the interior? Here are 12 easy ways to add sensuality to a romantic couple's bedroom.

Romantic bedroom decor is not necessarily hearts, love symbols and red. Your initials on the wall or stylish minimalist posters with a quote that only you can understand can add romance.

Vintage always brings an atmosphere of romance and sophistication to the space. The main thing is not to overdo it. Use this "tool" metered: just a couple of items per bedroom.

Mysterious looking glass - for aesthetics, romance, visual expansion of boundaries. The style of the frame can be anything, the main thing is that the mirror fits into your interior and starts right from the floor.

One of the most spectacular and quick ways to add coziness and romance to the bedroom is to make a canopy. Not necessarily large-scale and solid, you can choose a light and airy version of the canopy without a frame. And of course, beautifully decorate a romantic bed with the cozy light of an electric garland.

Editor's note:

— Don't forget about invoices. Fabrics, throws, decorative pillows, headboards, drapery, decor - choose textures that you want to touch, that relax, add luxury to the interior.

How to decorate the wall above the bed in the bedroom if our goal is an atmosphere of romance in the interior? One of the working, beautiful and stylish ideas is your photos. Minimalistic but effective: the most important images that will always make you feel nostalgic and smile.

Definitely yes. Moreover, most experts advise choosing blackout curtains for the bedroom, protecting from light and even excess noise. But if your yard is quiet, and you only enjoy the morning rays of the sun, then why not choose a more airy and light option for your romantic bedroom?

We combine a multi-level lighting system with original lamps that are indispensable for an intimate atmosphere, beautiful shadows and comfort.

One of the examples of a romantic, almost fabulously beautiful bedroom for complete comfort and sensual relaxation is, of course, a Scandinavian-style bedroom. Your tools - a neutral palette with soft accent colors in the decor, natural materials, spaciousness and purity of lines.

Not yet? This gap needs to be filled. Many are limited to comfortable bedside tables or designer trays, and yet a bench, chest or coffee table next to the bed will be very useful.

Look for what your soul is more inclined towards. What is the point of decor that looks beautiful on Instagram if it doesn’t evoke warm feelings for you?

Some choose soft romantic accents that strictly match the style of the interior, while others create romance in "heart" items, decorating the bedroom with decorative lock hearts, personalized decor, flowers.

Living shadows, fragrance, mysterious glow: a time-honored way to add romance and coziness to a space.

Of course, fluffy, warm and cozy, so that you can not only dip your toes in it, but also lazily wallow with a book among decorative soft pillows.

Bedroom in a romantic style, bedroom decoration

Published: 02/14/2011, Viewed: 1966

The bedroom is one of the most intimate and individual spaces in the home. A bedroom in a romantic style will be a wonderful gift for you and your significant other.

The bedroom, decorated in romantic style , will become your space that will give you unforgettable emotions. Bring some romance into your life! Let your bedroom be not just a place where you sleep and relax, but a source of inspiration and joy! What does a bedroom in a romantic style look like?

Everyone can describe it differently, but of course it is, first of all, a space for two. There should not be a lot of exclusively feminine (ruffles, frills) and exclusively masculine and brutal. Romantic style is a style for a couple that combines the feminine and masculine. A romantic bedroom can awaken in you the desire to spend more time together and alone with each other.

The main thing in the bedroom is the bed. It is around this piece of furniture that the composition of space should be built. It is from its design that the key in which your bedroom will be decorated depends. In the interior of the bedroom, the bed can be of different shapes, heights and lengths, with or without a headboard, with or without a canopy, it can be a modern bed of an unusual shape, but the primary point in the bed is the mattress. A good sleep and rest depends on a comfortable mattress, which in turn guarantees energy and strength for the whole day.

Two types of mattresses are currently the most popular. Orthopedic mattresses based on blocks of independent springs are almost all modern mattresses. Each spring in the mattress is in a separate cover - this allows you to distribute the load and maintain the spine in the correct position throughout the sleep. Springless mattresses are mattresses based on highly elastic blocks of natural or artificial latex, polyurethane foam or interlayers of coconut, sisal or felt.

For a comfortable and suitable bed for you, be sure to choose bedding that will match your mood and the overall style of the room. We advise you to have several completely different sets. Choose the best for you. Choose your favorite material, make sure that it does not cause irritation and allergies.

Lighting can be the decisive factor in creating a romantic mood in the bedroom. There should be a lot of light, but it should not be bright and defiant. Choose from multi-level lighting options. Let the lamps give a soft diffused light. Perhaps you should pay attention to the devices, the brightness, intensity and color of the light in which you can adjust. Thus, you can easily create a unique environment in your bedroom. Electric lamps can be supplemented with candles. They can be placed on beautiful coasters or candlesticks that support the main style motif of the interior. Soft light from candles, playful shadows - a romantic and mysterious world is created so simply! Of course, it is worth considering safe places for placing candles and in no case should you leave lit candles unattended.

The easiest and most effective way to create a romantic mood in the bedroom is to arrange fresh flowers in vases. It can be one rose in a tall vase and a large bouquet of wildflowers. The main thing is that the flowers are your favorite. You can achieve this effect all year round if you choose flowering perennial houseplants in beautiful pots that match the style.

Music in the bedroom should be, your favorite, both of you should like it. Pleasant music cheers you up and easily sets you on a romantic wave. It is better not to overload the bedroom with a TV and a computer, but it is worth having a small music player in the bedroom. Pleasant music will help create an atmosphere of harmony and bliss even in the most unpretentious interior.

Or maybe you like to admire the fire? The fireplace in the bedroom creates a feeling of warmth and closeness to nature. Now this effect can be achieved in the apartment. A wide selection of electric fireplaces allows you to choose a good solution for the urban interior of the bedroom.

A mirror must be found in the bedroom. It can be one large mirror in a beautiful frame, or a series of mirrors on the ceiling or cabinet fronts. The mirror not only visually enlarges the space of the room, but also gives a mysterious feeling of mystery.

Textiles on windows play an important role. Choose curtains and curtains that set you in a positive mood. However, it is important to remember that curtains also carry a functional load.
