Rob Lowe Sells Breathtaking Montecito Mansion!

Rob and Sheryl Lowe have shown that patience is not only a virtue, but often a necessity in today’s high-end real estate market. Having listed their home in 2018 at $47 million and with only one price cut in 2019 to $43 million, it just sold over the asking price at $45.5 million to the co-founder of RoundTable Health Care Partners.

A classic East Coast style and a stand out from the general Mediterranean architecture in the area, the Lowe estate is sited on just over three acres.   The main house was designed by architect Don Nulty, built in 2009 and encompasses 10,000 square feet.  With a total of 20 rooms, there are large open formal rooms, a huge white and cheerful family kitchen, separate catering kitchen, eight bedrooms, eleven baths, office, library-music room with bar, family room, various conversation rooms and nooks, movie theater, well equipped gym and expansive wine cellar. There are nine indoor fireplaces throughout the house with one in the master suite.

In addition to the main house, the grounds contain a two-bedroom guest house, one-bedroom pool house with staff quarters and an outdoor kitchen.  Also a pool and spa, tennis court with observation areas and lushly landscaped lawns large enough for team sports with mature trees and a vegetable garden.  There are two outside fireplaces, terraces and loggias for relaxing or entertaining, a water serenade from fountains and a koi pond. Formal rose gardens overlook the lawn and from most any location one can enjoy sunsets over the Pacific.

Located in celebrity-studded Montecito, the new owners will be rubbing elbows with some of the world’s biggest stars including Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres and Gwyneth Paltrow.  Montecito is a much favored retreat away from the work-a-day world of filmdom, located 80 miles northwest of Los Angeles between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountains in Santa Barbara County with spectacular hillside views, nearby whale watching and beautiful weather.

Lowe became one of Hollywood’s youngest hot shots in the 1980s in hit movies The Outsiders, St, Elmo’s Fire and Oxford Blues and later in his role in the popular TV drama The West Wing.  More recently he has appeared in the comedy Parks and Recreation and reality-show adventures with his two sons in The Lowe Files.

One of the largest and loveliest homes in Montecito, a home that broke the common Mediterranean-design theme of the area, is owned by Rob and Sheryl Lowe.  It just sold above the asking price for $45. 5 million.  Co-brokering the deal were Eric Haskell of The Agency and Luke Ebbin of Compass.

Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo can’t stop buying — and then quickly selling — exceedingly expensive homes, often in clandestine off-market deals that have earned them impressive profits!

In 2018, they coughed up $33.9 million for a Beverly Hills mansion they flipped just over a year later for $42.5 million to Ellen DeGeneres, who’s since sold it for $45 million; last year they took in $28.5 million on the sale a five-acre estate in Montecito, $5.8 million more than they paid just three months earlier; and just this month they hung a spine-stiffening $57.5 million price tag on their sprawling Pacific Palisades compound, nearly twice the $31.95 million they paid Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck in 2018.

And now, the trophy property-mad pair have plunked down a whopping $52 million for Oakview, a sprawling Montecito estate custom designed by Don Nulty and built in 2009 for Hollywood heavy hitter Rob Lowe and his family. The “9-1-1: Lone Star” star sold the nearly 3. 5-acre estate in the fall of 2020 for $44.5 million to Jack McGinley, a healthcare-focused private equity exec, and his wife Julie.

The deal between the McGinleys and the Prinsloo-Levines appears to have gone down off market, so it’s not known what changes, if any, the McGinley’s may have made. However, promo materials from when Lowe had the house on the market show the East Coast traditional meets antebellum mansion measures about 10,000 square feet with six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, plus three powder rooms. There’s also a two-bedroom and two-bath guesthouse, as well as a pool house with another bedroom and bath.

An inviting mix of refined and relaxed, interior spaces during Lowe’s ownership showcased gleaming wood floors, intricate moldings, and custom millwork throughout. Presumably, both the living and family rooms, as well as a couple other rooms, still spill out to the yard through French doors, while the huge eat-in family kitchen was buttressed by a stainless-steel catering kitchen, a second-floor games room did double duty as a casual library, and a home theater sported state-of-the-art equipment.

Beyond the broad covered porches that extend along the back of the house, where they offer endless views over the ocean, the grounds include a cobblestone-accented motor court, an outdoor living room with fireplace, a prairie-sized expanse of lawn, a meditative water feature, an elegant swimming pool, and a sunken tennis court overlooked by not just one but two viewing platforms.

Once they’ve sold their Pacific Palisades home, Levine and Prinsloo will probably end up with another big and expensive spread in L.A., while Lowe as already bought two homes in Montecito for a combined $18.2 million, as well as a crash pad in Beverly Hills that cost another $3.75 million.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle moved overseas after resigning from royal duties. First they lived in Canada, after which they moved to a luxurious mansion with an area of 1700 square meters. The estate is located in Montecito, in Santa Barbara. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Mansion

“I have lived in Montecito for over twenty-five years and consider this place my home. A quiet, secluded corner in which almost never anyone bothers anyone. So it was until recently, until Meghan and Harry appeared here. Since then, there have been crowds of tourists, and this began when they just bought a mansion, but had not yet lived in it. Complete madness,” explained Hollywood actor Rob Lowe.

According to the celebrity, from time to time the arrival of another star meant a change for the better for Montecito. But this time the system failed. Tourists who are interested in the life of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are disturbing other inhabitants of the town. nine0003

“They are literally everywhere. The queues at the coffee shops became kilometer long. You can occasionally find paparazzi in your yard. The right to privacy is forgotten. Of the advantages of this situation, only that the value of real estate has increased. Many are thinking about moving out, choosing a more peaceful place, ”said Rob Lowe.

The film actor also commented on the information that the famous interview of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was done at his home. Rob Lowe denies the rumors and assures that he found out about the interview when it became public. nine0003

“I don't understand where this information comes from. We are not friends with Megan and Harry, we know each other only at the level of neighbors. This seems to require a closer connection. No, the interview was definitely not done in my house. To tell the truth, I think it happened in Oprah's mansion, she also has an estate in Montecito, ”concluded Rob Lowe.
