Sherwin-Williams Says These Colors Will Rule Interiors in 2023

The Lore palette reflects a reverence for artisanal traditions, as well as what Wadden refers to as the pandemic’s role in “creating this culture of craftivism where people are using craft to talk to each other and be good humans.” Defined by saturated jewel tones, such as the light amethyst-like Wallflower, the deep turquiose-y Blue Peacock, and the ruby Toile Red, this selection is imbued with notions of joy and optimism. Made for maximalists or anyone whose space reflects a keen appreciation for novel patterns, textures, or eye-catching works of art, Lore also contains golden shades like Serape and Nugget that can make an instant impression. Elsewhere, stoney neutrals Studio Mauve and Dhurrie Beige provide an additional sense of balance while proving that basics can sometimes be more than meets the eye.

Reflecting “an evolution out of Scandinavian minimalism into a sort of ’80s modernism,” Wadden says, the Nexus selection serves up a serene palette that evokes the warm tones of a canyon sunset. Whether choosing the peachiness of Lei Flower or the hushed elegance of Malted Milk, this earthy palette summons good energy for use in spaces where caring for ourselves and others is top of mind. The selections also pair nicely with trendy design elements, such as rounded silhouettes, stone-slab tables, and sculptural armchairs.

Finally, the Origin palette is where the imagination runs wild. A veritable rainbow of nostalgia, Indigo, Peppery, and Goldfinch offer elevated twists on the three primary colors, while Kale Green, Fabulous Grape, and Chartreuse play supporting parts. When neutrals like Pure White or Skyline Steel are added in, the versatile, brilliant Origin can re-energize an environment.

The Origin palette’s Peppery coats the kitchen, while Pure White layers the walls.

“You could use these colors to create a space that’s really vibrant and bright, a little retro, maybe even a little punk rock,” Wadden muses. “I think that’s what I like most about Origin: You have the flexibility to live and breathe in those colors and try something a little unexpected.”

While Colormix itself is nothing new for Sherwin-Williams, its 2023 forecast marks the first time that commercial design segments are part of this launch. Showcasing how TERRA’s 40 colors can enliven hospitality spaces, multifamily residential construction, and more, the paint brand’s aim is to help commercial architects and designers move more confidently in the direction of fresh, modern color.

As for Sherwin-Williams’s 2023 Color of the Year (to be announced this fall), Wadden offers no hints other than that you’ll find it among the brand’s selects for TERRA. “Maybe have a look and see if you can guess,” she adds.

These Are the 6 Top Color Trends for 2023

Thomas Loof

The era of vibrancy is upon us. The nation's top color experts decree the reign of neutrals and cool tones over. Bold, playful tones leaning on the warmer side of the color wheel are predicted to skyrocket in popularity in 2023. The reason: People are becoming more adventurous with their color choices as a way to express themselves.

Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, explains that it's not just that people are moving towards using bolder colors, but they are using colors in clever ways—especially in homes. "It’s all about our desire for creative expression," Pressman says. "Understanding that our surroundings influence our mental health, many are expressing their creativity in the home as a way to enhance their feelings of joyfulness and well-being."

People no longer fear committing to a gutsy paint color for their dining room or upholstering sofas in prismatic patterns. Instead, they are thinking about how they can mix different color stories together to create a personal space that is completely unique to them. Andrea Magno, color marketing director at Benjamin Moore, further notes that there may be no better way to refresh one's home than embracing incorporating a more vibrant palette.

"We know that taking a leap into more daring color may not be easy, but once people take the plunge into a color that is either bold, saturated or deep—even in the smallest spaces, they are able to experience the transformational power of color," says Magno.

While it truly comes down to personal preference when choosing the right shade for you, there are a few color families both Pressman and Magno foresee popping up everywhere in the upcoming year. For those looking for inspiration, these are the dix color trends that will be huge in 2023.

1

Impactful Reds and Oranges

Ricardo Labougle

Benjamin Moore pivoted away from the soothing shades of years past to proclaim "Raspberry Blush" as their official color of the year. The decision denotes a greater movement within the interior design industry towards more saturated shades.

"For 2023, we sensed a yearning for bold, saturated color and a shift toward colors that are a bit unexpected, especially after several years of neutrals and muted hues taking center stage," says Magno. "The time felt right to highlight a color that encourages a willingness to be creative and expressive through color, even if it meant breaking away from the tried and true."

Particularly, colors in the red, orange, and terracotta families are projected to soar in popularity dues to their ability to take people out of their comfort zones and be more expressive with their color choices. Pressman adds, "tones in these color families, especially those reds and oranges that are more vivid, energize and lift our spirits."

Marvelous Magenta

Max Kim-Bee

Though it's derived from the red family, magenta brings forward a vibrant spirit all of its own that people will be craving in the upcoming year. The Pantone Color Institute named Viva Magenta as its official color of the year for 2023 for its joyous yet powerful nature. A red with subtle notes of purple, magenta flawlessly complements many different color palettes from those on the richer, jewel-tone side of the spectrum to even a lighter, earthy palette.

Pantone further notes as virtual reality has become more and more prominent in our everyday lives, a shade like Viva Magenta is able to thrive in both worlds and encourage exploration.

3

Unexpected Greens

James McDonald

Midtone greens took over homes worldwide for their ability to play to nature. While the soothing shade has cemented itself as a go-to neutral, Magno believes unique shades of green—such as Savannah Green, which was featured in the brand's Color Trends 2023 palette—are apt to make their way into the home.

"Savannah Green is a great example because it has a citrusy, acidic quality that may be unexpected for a wall color, but when used in a room it creates a space that is both playful and sophisticated all at once."

It seems intimidating to dose your walls in electric chartreuse or forest green, but we promise the results will leave you both speechless and inspired.

4

Crafty Shades

Thomas Loof

Though nature still continues to inspire color trends into 2023, Pressman interestingly points out there's increasing interest in "more earthbound natural shades linked to craft." In particular, shades of warm brown that are reminiscent of different types of woods, minerals, and even jewels.

C2 Paint announced Tiramisu, a coppery, midtone brown, as their color of the year which perfectly embodies this movement towards organic tones. These colors ground spaces in comfort and stability while providing a nuanced backdrop to build off of.

5

Elevated Blush

Thomas Loof

For some, neutrals feel a bit boring when there's a whole world of bright colors to experiment with. However, color experts often explain that these colors play an important role in establishing a solid base.

Instead of the cooler tones we've seen in the past, today's neutrals embrace a warmer disposition with earthy undertones. Paint companies like Sherwin-Williams—who named mauve-y Redend Point their color of the year—expect to see more shades of blush popping up in the upcoming year.

6

Alternatives to Black

Brie Williams

Black will never go out of style, but there's a plethora of other shades that can bring that sense of depth and elegance into a room. As a part of their Color Trends Forecast, Benjamin Moore highlights Wenge, a deep chocolate with notes of violet and black, as a great alternative to black.

Meanwhile, Pressman notes that "earthbound violet tones" are rising in popularity, as well. These deep shades of brown, purple, and green carry all the drama and strength that black does but feel unexpected and layered.

Fashion jewelry in 2023: 30 trendy models

If there are no jewelry, then the image looks plain and invaluable, like a sparrow or a plantain. And I want us to be cranes and roses! I have collected the most trendy options that even lovers of minimalism will like.

Jewelry trends 2023

White and yellow metal

In 2023, white and yellow metals will be in fashion. The first is universal and suitable for any time of day and occasion. The second is more conspicuous and more appropriate for the evening. Feel free to combine them with each other and do not listen to those who consider it bad manners. The main thing is that the jewelry should be “from the same opera”, and not of the same color.

Complex shapes

Wave-like bracelets, wrinkled earrings, skillfully intertwined rings, necklaces in the form of snakes wrapping around the neck - all these works of art are proposed by designers to be worn not only on special occasions. You can mix jewelry of unusual shapes with evening outfits, as well as with a basic white T-shirt and straight jeans, an oversized two-piece suit or a trendy mini dress.

Floral motifs

Judging by the current collections, floral motifs will accompany us even in winter. We boldly wear rings in the form of opened buds studded with stones, or massive necklaces, as if with a garden that has just blossomed on your chest. Yes, jewelry is not for every day, but for a date or to the theater - quite. nine0003

Glitter

Sequins are not going to slow down in 2023, and with them, jewelry with huge stones and placers of crystals. Russian and foreign it girls are increasingly adding luxurious rings or earrings to casual outfits and even wearing them with sports joggers and hoodies. I propose to follow their example and wear such luxury with or without reason.

Laconic minimalism

Minimalist fashion jewelry should be in every woman's jewelry box. Calm and concise, they are perfectly combined with each other, but at the same time they are just as cool mixed with bright jewelry fashion trends. For example, a massive ring will look great in a set with simple thin rings and a pair of neat chains around the neck. nine0003

Size XXL

In 2023, we continue to wear giant fashion jewelry. Earrings of unrealistic sizes, massive necklaces and necklaces, cuff bracelets and oversized look catchy and make even looks with a simple tight-fitting black dress or white oversized shirt interesting. Are you afraid to overdo it? Wear accent pieces with less flashy accessories, or separate the zones by wearing a huge necklace and 10 cm earrings at the same time.

Masculinity

Following suits and ties, jewelry has migrated from the men's wardrobe to the women's wardrobe: coarse chains, masculine signet rings and rings, minimalistic unisex earrings. They are especially good in daring combinations and the same styles: sport chic, grunge, military. Such accessories perfectly complement outfits with a simple white T-shirt, wide jeans and a rough leather jacket, as well as with a dress, oversized bomber jacket and platform boots.

Geometry

Despite the simplicity and conciseness, even the most minimalist "geometry" looks fresh and interesting. It is easily mixed both with each other and with other accessories, including pearls and placers of stones. You can wear fashionable jewelry with everything: they will ideally fit into a business wardrobe, casual outfits, and evening looks.

Pearls

Inspired by the aesthetics of Coco Chanel, we add dainty pearl strands to our looks that look great with dresses, shirts and basic long sleeves. Look also at the sets of earrings and rings - they will add elegance to any outfit. nine0003

Do not listen to those who say that pearls age and are more suitable for mature women. It also looks great on young girls, the main thing is to choose current models.

Infantile motifs and bright colors

Bright colors will once again reign supreme in the coming year! Therefore, I strongly recommend paying attention to fashionable women's jewelry with pink, green, yellow or blue stones or crystals, which look amazing in bright images. Infantile motifs, especially all kinds of hearts, remain relevant as well. nine0003

Layering

We continue to wear several rings, bracelets or necklaces at once - this technique has not outlived its usefulness, it still looks fresh and attracts attention. Combine minimalistic fashion jewelry with each other, mix concise models with catchy and massive ones.

Fringe

Fringe continues to be the top trend for 2023. Thin threads add dynamics to the image and attract the attention of others. In addition, fashionable fringed jewelry works great with proportions: long earrings or necklaces visually elongate the neck, making it slimmer, rings add grace to the fingers. nine0003

Fashionable neck jewelry 2023

Chains

Choose massive chains in silver or gold – you can wear them anywhere. If you like more minimalistic, thin models, options with pendants, then wear them in multilayer sets of several pieces at once - even if they are of different lengths.

Pendant necklace

I love how complex pendant necklaces look. We wear them on an open neckline, put them on over T-shirts and with shirts, through the neckline of which they will only peek out slightly. Accessories can be multi-tiered, combined, massive and small, with one pendant or several. Tie models look original and feminine, thin chains of which sometimes even fall below the chest. nine0003

Chokers

Yes, chokers are still everyone's favorite. In 2023, both neat, minimalistic chokers and eye-catching models, for example, with massive crystals or fringe, are relevant. Mix them with other fashion jewelry: chains, pendants and even pearl strands.

Fashion Earrings 2023

Cuffs

Even the most catchy earrings can hardly surprise anyone, but cuffs have every chance of it. Forget about minimalistic small rings, star or feather options and pay attention to unusual and massive options. Agree that ear cuffs that completely cover the ear, decorated from beginning to end with a scattering of small stones, will amaze even those fashionistas who, it would seem, have seen everything. The same effect will be from a stylish cuff with a maxi-fringe length to the collarbone. Don't be afraid to experiment! nine0003

Rings

The trends of the 2000s are still popular, which means we shouldn't forget about fashionable hoop earrings. Huge and minimalistic metal options, pairs decorated with rhinestones and stones, elegant “rolls” and small thickened rings are relevant. The latter are mega-universal and will perfectly fit into any wardrobe.

Huge Earrings

A year ago, designers insisted that everyone should wear trendy maxi size earrings: short, long, with and without stones, simple and complex. A little later, the popularity of this trend subsided a bit, but in 2023 it will manifest itself with renewed vigor. nine0003

I liked how the Chanel fashion house gracefully and concisely inscribed exaggerated earrings in minimalist looks at the spring-summer 2022 show. Let's take an example!

Fashion rings 2023

With a large stone

Rings with huge stones have become a real must-have for trendy looks in 2023. In autumn and spring, we wear catchy models right over gloves, several pieces at once! Stones can be either precious, semi-precious, or just an imitation. Any color. nine0003

Rings and seals

At the peak of popularity in 2023 will be massive rings and bold seals with a simple design, intricate shape, or decorated with a huge stone, brand logo or all kinds of symbols and icons. Wear them for any occasion and feel free to mix them with laconic rings.

Fashion bracelets 2023

Massive bracelets

As mentioned above, the absolute trend of 2023 is giant bracelets. How do you like cuff models? They look very unusual and stylish. Crinkled bracelets, massive hoops, options studded with huge stones, cuffs of interesting shapes and XXL chains are in fashion. In the autumn-winter period, we do not hesitate to wear accessories over sleeves and gloves. nine0003

Rigid thin bracelets

In the 2023 fashion seasons, we choose rigid bracelets. They can be interesting shapes (snake or carnation), minimalist and even resemble a metal watch strap. Relevant models are cuffs and options decorated with stones or a small scattering. Wear them several at a time or with your watch.

fashion jewelry and jewelry from brands

Designers are divided into two fronts, some advise not to complement the image with jewelry in 2023, while others focus on massive jewelry, mixing materials and shapes.

Jewelery completes the look and makes it stand out. With the help of jewelry, you can adjust the shape of the face, draw attention to the desired area, distracting it from the problematic one. For example, if you have beautiful breasts and full hips, you can attach a voluminous flower-shaped brooch to your chest. nine0003
