25 Stunning Bedroom Lighting Ideas

Lighting is art. Decorators balance a wide range of needs to achieve a practical and beautiful bedroom lighting arrangement, every factor touching multiple points. Consider placement – a decision influenced by lifestyle choices like whether the resident loves physical books or prefers videos from a bright screen, but the photo tour below also shows its aesthetic impact. Intensity and color temperature are two more elements that seem practical at first, but can make all the difference between waking up to a bright and cheerful room in the darkness of an early morning or basking in low and mysterious mood lighting before drifting off to sleep.

Aim pendant lamps by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec dance in the middle of a spectacular backlit bed platform. The platform itself ascends the wall and wraps around to the ceiling for a cozy and enclosed feeling even within a large space.

Here, a gorgeous lit shelf and wall feature circles around the bed to form the headboard and bed platform. In the darkness it switches to dramatic mood lighting. Adjustable lights are fantastic for this sort of application.

Indirect lighting above the accent wall pairs well with two statement pendants hanging low above the small side tables.

Layers of spotlights and indirect lighting play over an impressive variety of luxurious textures. It would be hard to go wrong with any lighting choice in a room like this one, but this example demonstrates the most attractive approach.

More indirect lighting offers decorative influence. Indirect lighting is always great for bedrooms because it’s less intense, and eliminates the need for ceiling lighting which can shine directly into the eyes when laying down and trying to relax.

Cloth pendants offer a casual chic take on country decor – a lovely contrast to an otherwise refined and modern space.

Here, functionality is key. Indirect lighting illuminates the bed whereas recessed lights in the hallway address an explicit purpose.

Backlit paneling highlights the artwork hung over it, with bright shelves to the right for emphasis. This room demonstrates how lighting features can add incomparable spice to an otherwise minimalistic space.

Classic oversized wall sconces radiate light toward the ceiling and the side tables. Subtle lighting beneath the bed contributes to a more purely aesthetic and atmospheric purpose, yet could still help direct the resident toward the bed in the dark of the night.

Recessed lighting illuminates the places where the ceiling pulls away from the walls, making the bedroom feel more open. Adjustable cantilever lamps are a good option for bedside lighting, providing a longer reach for nighttime reading.

Here, the indirect lighting leans toward an orange tone to give the cabinetry a warmer feel. Since many decorators choose wood for its warmth, this lighting trick proves infinitely useful.

While many of the previous bedrooms used indirect lighting, few incorporate the lights in a spot as unusual as this one. Positioned in the middle of the headboard wall, these recessed lights offer a distinctive twist on a popular design trend.

A textured accent wall relishes its unique lighting arrangement to highlight the peaks and valleys. The black lamp to the right is the Atollo table lamp by Vico Magistretti.

Tiled wall panels are brilliant on their own, but clever lighting can bring additional attention to a feature otherwise overlooked. Here, the integrated lighting creates the illusion that the concrete panels are woven like a basket.

Accent wall panels like these look even more dramatic with the addition of recessed lighting. Light seeping out between each “crack” helps these panels inspire thoughts of cooling magma. The warmer color temperature only enhances this effect.

An angular lighting feature draws extra attention to the mural on the concrete wall.

Here, clean minimalism gains a sense of decoration through the pure and intangible contribution of indirect lighting.

Color temperature is a huge facet of lighting. Here, the cool blue and warm yellow create a sense of contrast that energizes the rest of the room. The swing arm wall lamps on either side add to the drama.

This regal bedroom is inspiring in so many ways, but it’s made even more spectacular with the addition of crystal beads as a fringe for the recessed lighting on the ceiling. It almost looks like a build-in chandelier installed solely to frame the bed.

This backlit wall panel reflects the strapwork on the sliding bathroom door. A programmable option would be such a cool addition to any home.

Light and textural patterns interact directly with this incredible bedroom feature wall. The waves look dynamic and full of motion, but give the resident complete control. We like how the lilac matches the hue of the vanity stool.

Gorgeous wall panels tilt at various angles and shine with integrated lighting interspersed throughout. A grouping of mini pendant lights near the desk draws the eye to the vertical garden.

Here’s another brilliant combination of wall panels and lighting. The panels in this bedroom carry a great amount of visual weight to match the sturdy furniture used throughout the room.

Smartly grouped pendant lamps are the real show stopper in this bedroom. The integrated lighting to either side adds to the atmospheric effect but doesn’t overshadow the artistic pieces displayed in the foreground.

Copper shades by Tom Dixon look fabulous on their own but groupings like these allow each light to play against the polished surfaces of its neighbors – especially effective here, combined with LED strips along the edges of the wall panels.

Textural walls transform depending on the lighting elements that surround them. Here, side-mounted lighting flows across the hills and valleys of the cratered surface.

Lighting choices become even more important in a room as dark and mysterious as this one. It adds an element of sophistication to the textural black wall, while the Agnes Chandelier in the foreground captures attention immediately.

While the natural lighting from the windows plays an unmatched role in this industrial-inspired bedroom, the elongated fixtures drive the point home.

Mirrors and good bedroom lighting ideas go hand in hand. Here's How to Decorate With Mirrors Across Your Home.

Light-Filtering Window Sheers

Natural lighting is critical in a bedroom. It can help you feel alert and energized in the morning and encourage a positive mood throughout the day. But when the glare of the golden hour is a little too bright, and you don't want to block all sunlight with blackout curtains, light-filtering window sheers are the perfect solution.

Cordless Minimalism

If you tend to believe "less is more" when it comes to decorating, you probably think of power cords as an eyesore. With this in mind, cordless lamps are among the best minimalist lighting ideas for bedrooms. You'll have to recharge the fixture or replace the batteries somewhat frequently, but the extra work could be worth it for the clean appearance.

Exposed Wiring

Exposed wiring is definitely the opposite of cordless bedroom lamps. Choosing this bedroom lighting idea is sometimes a matter of not wanting to go through the trouble (or potential wall damage) of hardwiring a sconce. However, many people intentionally choose to display the cord, as it lends to an industrial design style.

5 ways to illuminate the bedside area in the bedroom

Today we are talking about lighting the sleeping area. After all, the bedroom is the place where we spend a third of our lives. And it is especially important with what mood you fall asleep and wake up. Especially in cold weather.

1. Put the lamps on the bedside tables

The easiest thing to do is to put table lamps on either side of the bed. To do this, you only need sockets on either side of the headboard or an extension cord neatly hidden behind the headboard or carpet. Table lamps always look very expensive and elegant. They give some hint of traditionality, thereby creating peace and tranquility in the room. Particularly relevant now are light cone-shaped lampshades on glass or chrome-plated long bases.

2. Hang the sconce on the wall

If your bedroom is currently being renovated, you have a great opportunity to run wires to connect the wall. They are good because they do not take up space on the bedside table, they favorably highlight the area behind the headboard, which is quite often distinguished either by accent wallpaper, contrasting color or decor. Sconces on an adjustable base are very convenient - if desired, they can be moved tightly against the wall, and during the reading period before going to bed, adjust so that the light falls correctly on the book.

3

3. >Use hangers

Ceiling hangers above the bed have become the most popular now. If you are confident in the layout of the room and the bed will not change its location in the coming years until the next repair, feel free to use suspensions. It looks very stylish - a small chandelier will hang on a long cord at a distance of 50 cm and above above the bedside table. You can play with the design however you like. The main condition is not to choose chandeliers that are too large in diameter so that they do not interfere with you in the bedroom.

4. Pay attention to ceiling lighting

Ceiling light, like no other, is the most functional. It scatters streams of light in such a way as to illuminate the maximum of the space around it. That is why design the location of the ceiling chandelier in the center of the room, drawing diagonals from one corner to another. Choose the chandelier itself, starting from such indicators: the size of the room, the height of the ceilings, the style of the interior. All these criteria will tell you what type of light sources to look at - a chandelier with one lamp or with 8 horns, ceiling chandeliers or pendants, a forged base or chrome.

5. Decorate the headboard area with light

This technique is one of the favorites of architects and designers. The headboard area is worked out quite carefully, and there are options here - make it look like a niche and illuminate it with spotlights, hang a lot of decorative small pendants, decorate the headboard with solid LED or fluorescent lighting.

If you are interested in the method of interior decoration. contact a specialist to draw up a technical drawing. This will be a correct and deliberate decision, since such structures, although they are not a complex element, are often beyond the power of a person working in another field. You will save yourself from unnecessary costs for alterations, and save your nerves and time.
