Aluminum Stair Corner

Any staircase is a hazardous area. Therefore, when designing it in a country house, it is important to provide not only the height and width of the steps, but also their coverage. Moreover, the choice of facing material and its edging must be approached equally seriously.

In public places, it is enough to emphasize the border of the steps with a yellow stripe drawn along the very edge. And in residential areas, especially those where small children and the elderly live, a special profile is required, securely fixed on each of the ribs. With the help of this simple, at first glance, addition to the stairs, you can simultaneously solve several problems. nine0003

Types of aluminum angle

Since the scope of tasks is quite large, it is rather difficult to find the optimal corner profile. And this despite the fact that the construction market is replete with relevant products. There is a soft and hard edging, with a smooth and corrugated surface, plastic and metal - made of stainless steel and brass. nine0003

However, over the past years, the leader in sales is the aluminum corner for stairs, which is presented in two versions: mortgage and invoice.

Mortgage. This is a profile with a concealed stair fixing system based on lintels that are "sunk" into the concrete. Because of them, these metal products can be called a corner only with a big stretch, since they have a P-, T-, C- and F-shape.

According to experts, corners are designed exclusively for use within the walls of the house. And when it comes to the feet of a porch or terrace, they can do harm, provoking the destruction of the cladding. nine0003

This is a traditional L-shaped profile with an open fastening system using dowels or self-tapping screws. It consists of two shelves of the same or different widths, which are connected to each other at an angle of 90 degrees. The absence of jumpers facilitates installation: just cover the edge of the step with a corner, fix it with hardware and seal the seam.

This aluminum stair corner is considered universal and is used everywhere - both inside and outside the house. Only in the open air it is desirable to edging the rib not with a single piece, but with several, leaving a gap between them for water to drain. nine0003

In addition, an aluminum corner with a corrugated surface in the form of convex grooves is chosen for outdoor use. Another option is the presence of special grooves designed for attaching 1-2 rubber inserts. with anti-slip effect.

Corner for edging internal stairs can be completed with a niche located on the top or side of the product. It is created specifically for laying LED strip in order to highlight the contours of the steps. To protect against mechanical damage, the backlight is covered with a matte acrylic screen. nine0003

Every year there are more and more unusual models that differ in design and functionality. One thing remains unchanged - the high quality of the aluminum corner for the stairs:

The most durable and corrosion-resistant are aluminum corners made of magnalium, as aluminum-magnesium alloy (AMg2) is called. High ductility is typical for corners made of aviation - a deformable aluminum alloy (AD31). But the most widespread is the aluminum corner for the stairs, made of duralumin (D16). Its technical characteristics have been improved as a result of additional processing, so duralumin products are especially effective and scratch resistant, which is important, given the scope and risk of getting damaged by heels. nine0003

Decorative coating

Anodizing is a procedure aimed at increasing the anti-corrosion protection of the metal. However, after etching, placing in an electrolyte solution and exposure to direct current, not just a transparent protective film is formed on the surface of the aluminum product, but a film that gives shine and radiance.

The coating thickness is measured in microns and is:

Enameling is a treatment also aimed at building up a protective oxide film. Only as a result of anodic treatment of aluminum alloys, it turns out to be thicker, opaque and matte, which is why it resembles an enamel coating. nine0003

Lamination is an imitation of a stone or wood texture using a polymer film glued to an aluminum corner. It can only be used indoors and not as a edging for steps, since due to precipitation and mechanical damage, the coating is at risk of peeling.

Sublimation is the transfer of a decorative pattern from a carrier film to the surface of an aluminum product and its fixing in a thermal vacuum chamber under high temperatures. Such a coating has high mechanical strength, resistance to moisture, fading in the sun, which allows the use of the corner in any conditions. nine0003

Powder polymer coating is a type of profile decoration, which consists in applying powder paints and subsequent polymerization in a specially equipped chamber. The most popular coatings are "silver", "gold", "champagne", "bronze" and "black".

The company "MetPromInteks" sells aluminum corner of mortgage and overhead type, designed for edging stairs. Our experts will help you choose products in accordance with the operating conditions and advise on the model range. nine0003

At the request of the customer, additional mechanical, thermal and decorative processing of the corner profile is possible.

Threshold AU-42 inside the house and outside. The profile is made of durable alloy aluminum that can withstand chemical attack and precipitation. The nut is made in the shape of the letter "G", which provides good protection of the facing of the edge of the step from chips, on the horizontal and on vertical plane. Rubber insert used in combination with aluminum profile, provides high grip shoe soles, which reduces the risk of slipping and falling on stairs. nine0003

Installation The profile is very simple, which even a non-professional can handle. For To do this, it is necessary to remove the rubber insert from the metal profile. Drill holes in the profile with a hand drill, and screw to the base of the horizontal part of the step. After that, insert the rubber tape back into the aluminum profile. This completes the profile setup. If the steps of the stairs are covered with very expensive tiles, which is a pity drilling, but it is necessary to install the corners, then you can use sealant or industrial masking tape. Of course, the reliability of the installation is thus in question, but you always you can tear off the profiles from the steps and enjoy the beauty of the cladding and undamaged tiles. If you still need a solid installation without drilling into the tile, then you can use liquid nails glue, which securely glues the aluminum to the ceramic step base. nine0003

Advantage of such a profile, consists in a hidden fastening system, which allows use the anti-slip profile not only on the front steps home or shop, but also indoors, for example, baths, saunas or swimming pool where there is a lot of moisture.
