With a budget-friendly price tag, the smallest footprint of all of the models we tested and a reasonably quiet motor, the Ninja Cold Press Pro is a great way to make juice just for yourself or to experiment with juicing if you’re not sure you’re ready for a full-scale appliance. While it isn’t the best choice for serving a family or whipping up drinks for brunch or a party, the 16-ounce plastic juice jug with a nifty pour spout has enough for two cups. Whether you share or not is up to you.

Ninja

Weighing in at under 7 pounds and small enough to fit neatly on your counter or coffee bar, the quiet and affordable Ninja has three pulp filters that let you produce vibrant, tasty juice — orange, watermelon, mint and lime were standouts — with as much or as little pulp as you desire.

$129.95 $99.95 at Macy's $129.99 $99.99 at Bed Bath & Beyond $129.99 $99.99 at buybuy BABY

One of the Ninja’s major strengths is that it’s a great way to have your orange juice exactly the way you want it, even if you don’t want it the same way all the time. You can choose between three filters: No Pulp, Some Pulp and Lots of Pulp. The idea of custom levels of pulp — it doesn’t lock you into making your juice entirely free of pulp — is a standout feature.

For those interested in other juices, we found that the Ninja had plenty of power. The stainless steel auger effectively squeezed soft fruits and fibrous ginger alike. The watermelon juice was a lustrous pink, the best from any of the models we tested. The ability to reverse greens and carrot pulp through the auger to ring out more juice was a nice touch. It helped increase the yield and cut down on the foam on top of the carrot juice.

All of the juicers we tested required some work ahead of the actual juicing, but the Ninja’s undersized chute required lots of chopping to make sure the chamber didn’t jam with pulp. Leafy greens occasionally got stuck in the same chamber, but it was not hard to dislodge the greens by adding a few apple slices and using the tamper.

The smaller size of the juicer means you’re limited to 16 ounces of juice at a time. So, you might need to rinse out the chamber or empty the juice jug if you’re making orange juice for a household with more than two people. A shield helped guide the pulp into the pulp container, but the angle meant that some drips found the counter.

While the juicer was reasonably easy to clean, thanks to dishwasher-safe parts, it was difficult to disassemble without juice dripping on the counter before rinsing everything in the sink. Like the NutriBullet, this juicer only has a one-year limited warranty.

What we loved about it

The quietest model we tested was easy to set up and break down. This juicer, with a 10-year warranty on the motor (and two-year warranty on parts), produced clean, delicious juice because of a clever screen design.

The affordable juicer assembles quickly and comes with useful accessories like glass juice containers and freezer trays. The oversized chute and dishwasher-safe parts make juicing and cleanup a lot easier.

The compact, budget-friendly juicer produced bright juice with brilliant color. Three different filters give you options for pulp if you like a bit more body in your orange juice.

What we didn’t like about it

You’ll be spending a lot of time with this juicer, prepping ingredients and washing parts by hand. It’s also the heaviest model we tested at just over 18 pounds.

The vegetable juice was a bit foamy and the pulp is wetter than masticating juicers. The juicer, which was loud enough to make it hard to have a conversation on the turbo setting, also only has a one-year limited warranty.

The small feed chute means plenty of prep work and lots of peeling and chopping before the juicing can start. Leafy greens occasionally got stuck in the chamber, and juice tended to drip on the counter during disassembly.

Ninja Juicer Review (2022) Cold Press Juicer Pro With Total Pulp Control

or see your buying options at Amazon →

Ninja Juicer Pro with Total Pulp Control is the brand’s one and only contender in the juice extractor market. It looks pretty decent, to be honest. But more importantly, it’s another affordable option for us consumers.

What’s unique about this product are the auger and interchangeable pulp filters. The auger of this machine has a stainless steel end, which is sturdier than a plastic one. And you’ll also get three pulp filters of varying hole sizes.

The bigger the holes are, the more pulp your juice will have. You see, the biggest criticism of juicing is the lack of fibers. With this accessory, you can have the best of both worlds.

If you’re coming from an Omega juicer, you might look for those extra food processing accessories. Sadly, the Ninja Cold Press Juicer Pro is strictly for juicing. However, it’s as functional as any leading masticating juice extractors that excels at making green juices.

In the meantime, let’s take a look at its pros and cons.

PROS

CONS

Features

Is Ninja Cold Press Juicer easy to use?

Masticating juice extractors like the ninja cold press juicer are relatively simple to operate. You only have to assemble a total of six parts, including the motor base. If you have a prior experience using a slow juicer, it’s pretty much the same.

The only challenge to slow juice extractors, in general, is the small feeding chute. This particular Ninja juicer has approximately a 2-inch opening. You need to cut your fruits and vegetables that would fit that diameter.

It’s somehow self-feeding, but you need to give the fruits and vegetables a little push by using the tamper.

One press of the start/stop button will continuously run your machine for 12 minutes. Pressing it again will stop the motor. A reverse button is pretty standard among slow press juicers. You can access this option just below the start/stop switch.

Is it easy to clean?

Thankfully the Ninja Juicer is dishwasher safe. That takes the chore out of juicing. You don’t have to wash it by hand. All the detachable parts can go on the top rack of your dishwashing equipment.

The only components that require your utmost attention are the pulp filter and the pulp spout. That is the place where fibers and residue might get stuck. On the bright side, the company included a cleaning brush to deal with those pesky food particles.

As long as you’re going to wash your juicer immediately after using it, you won’t have any aftercare issues at all.

See the Ninja Juicer Pro in action:

Don’t take my word for it, here’s a video demo of the Ninja Juicer.

Ninja Juicer Pro with Total Pulp Control is a horizontal type masticating juice extractor. It comes with a 150-watt motor that is capable of making any type of juice, be it a green juice or any basic drink. Because of its slow juicing process, the Ninja Juicer yields more juice and retains more nutrients than the competition.

Juice Quality

The best thing about masticating juicers is juice extraction efficiency. It produces a dryer pulp than vertical slow juicers. It’s second to triturating juicers in terms of juice quality.

You’re not just getting more volume for your drink, but it’s also packed with more nutrients. So, in theory, this type of machine will pay for itself over time.

You see, slow-type juicing machines have minimal oxidation. Unlike juice extracted by centrifugal juicers, cold-pressed juice can be stored for a longer period, three days to be exact.

What Kinds of Produce Can Ninja Juice?

The Ninja Cold Press Juicer pro can take on any type of produce—dense fruits and vegetables, citruses, and leafy greens.

Dense produce includes celery, yakon, broccoli, pepper, bitter gourd, cauliflower, fennel, apple, cucumber, sweet potato, carrots, turmeric, cilantro, pumpkin, pineapple, watermelon, ginger, asparagus, garlic, beets, and pear.

You can pair any of the water-dense produce above with a leafy green like lettuce, cabbage, beet greens, peppermint, kale, basil, collard greens, spring onion, moringa, wheatgrass, dandelion greens, parsley, spinach, and brussels sprout to make a glass of green juice.

If you prefer a citrus drink, you can control the pulp content using interchangeable filters. The bigger the holes are, the more pulp you’ll have in your juice. Forget Minute Maid. You can make your own pulpy juice out of orange, lemon, lime or grapefruit, mandarin, etc., all from scratch.

I initially thought that those pulp filters are also intended for soft fruits. However, it’s specifically written in the manual not to process bananas and avocados or items that don’t contain juice.

So, it’s safe to assume that you can’t make soy or almond milk with this machine as it doesn’t have a blank filter.

In short, the Ninja cold press juicer is strictly for juicing.
