Meghan Markle Former Los Angeles Home: Photos of Her House

A home fit for a duchess! Meghan Markle may now reside in Santa Barbara, but her old house in Los Angeles is also nothing to scoff at.

The Suits actress’ former pad, located in the San Fernando Valley, hit the market for $1.8 million — later dropping to $1.75 million in January 2020 — and the interior is as chic as we would expect. The 2,000 square foot abode is filled with gorgeous granite, trendy neutral tones and a lush backyard space.

She’s now living like royalty (literally) with her husband, Prince Harry, and their son, Archie, after previously fleeing the U.K. for Canada and then L.A. A source told In Touch the mother of one has “no regrets” about taking a hop, skip and a jump across the pond. “She looks and feels amazing.”

The couple also share daughter Lilibet, whom they welcomed in June 2021.

Not to mention, it sounds like they’ll be living just as large. An insider told Closer Weekly the abode is “perfect” for their 15-month old and is “much more private” than Tyler Perry‘s mansion, where they previously resided. “The house has a Mediterranean vibe to it — French doors and archways and a pool,” the insider revealed. “It’s beautiful and spacious, but not too over-the-top.”

Though the pair — who moved to their new location in July 2020 — are still “settling in” and haven’t “ventured out much,” they’re looking forward to checking out the “local hotspots,” a separate source previously dished to In Touch.

The couple announced the groundbreaking decision to step back as senior members of the royal family and become “financially independent” while still working with Queen Elizabeth and the palace in January 2020.

“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,” they expressed in a lengthy caption on their now-defunct Instagram, adding that they would split their time between North America and Great Britain. “It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.”

Though Meghan may miss her gorgeous L.A. home from time to time, it sounds like she’s living the high life in Montecito!

Settling In

The palace announced back in November 2018 that Harry and Meghan were going to make Frogmore their permanent home ahead of becoming parents. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will move to Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor Estate early next year as they prepare for the arrival of their first child. The couple have lived at Nottingham Cottage since their engagement last year,” the statement read. “Windsor is a very special place for Their Royal Highnesses and they are grateful that their official residence will be on the estate. The Duke and Duchess’s office will continue to be based at Kensington Palace.” Of course, that has now changed.

New Beginnings

When Meghan and Harry announced that they were “stepping back” from their royal duties on January 8, the Queen made an official statement that she was “entirely supportive” of their new chapter on January 13. “It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the U.K. These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done,” she continued.

Star mansion: what Megan and Harry's new luxury home in Los Angeles looks like

Megan and Harry, October 28, 2018 we slept: Duchess Megan has officially returned to the cinema and moved to Los Angeles). According to insiders, the Sussexes, who were offered to help with the search for housing in Los Angeles by numerous star friends, bought a mansion that previously belonged to Mel Gibson. The house is valued at $15 million (about £12 million).

After moving from Vancouver Island to Meghan's hometown, the family settled on Malibu, a celebrity-savvy area famous for its beach. The information was leaked via Instagram (an extremist organization banned in Russia) - local realtor Andrea Pilot posted the following message on her account: "Big news: Prince Harry and Meghan are buying Mel Gibson's house." The post was later removed.

Andrea's agency does not comment on this, as a non-disclosure agreement was signed, and Pilot herself claims that she did not sell the house, and the agent who completed the deal is unknown to her. However, one source confirmed to Sun that the mansion in question was indeed sold, while another confirmed that the media's speculation was very close to the truth.

Luxurious residence with five bedrooms, an impressive living room with a fireplace, a well-equipped and spacious kitchen in the American tradition, a dining room, two swimming pools, a gym and other amenities. The interior is built around rustic elements like natural stone walls and wooden beams.

Large windows and French doors with glazing let in a lot of sunlight, which is typical for cloudless California. There are also many forged details in the house: stairs, chandeliers and fireplaces, echoing the interior in a traditional American style.

The spacious building, which has recently been refurbished, comes with a plot of land measuring five acres (approximately 2 hectares). Next to the house is a patio with natural stone floor, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the ocean and greenery. Also on the territory there are two swimming pools, several cozy gazebos and office space.

According to local experts, the mansion could attract a couple with its secluded location - a rather rare bonus in the Los Angeles real estate market - and stunning ocean views. By the way, not only Mel Gibson is on the list of famous owners of the house: in 2008, the actor bought it from the X-Files star David Duchovny.

Insiders reported that at the moment the Sussex family is in self-isolation, does not receive visitors and does not visit public places. According to the latest data, the United States leads in the number of people infected with the coronavirus, and the parents of little Archie do not risk putting him and themselves in danger. The conscious couple made no exceptions even for Megan's mother Doria, who also lives in Los Angeles and with whom they call up via video link.

Whether the Sussexes managed to move into the mansion indicated by realtors, or at the moment they are in temporary housing, is still unknown. However, the couple has enough worries without moving - recently, Harry and Meghan have become victims of Internet fraud several times ( read also: Not a day without incident: Harry and Megan were involved in Internet fraud).
