Is wallpaper still in style

Wallpaper trends 2022: Stylish ways to dress your walls

Start your search for wallpaper trends with a little insider knowledge to truly get the best out of the new collections in 2022.

Wallpaper is a key trend for 2022, and the insatiable appetite from consumers doesn’t look like abating any time soon.

Whatever your taste, there are wallpaper ideas for everyone, from traditional florals and trompe l’oeil, to contemporary geometric and tropical patterns or animal motifs and architectural designs.

Wallpaper trends 2022

The progress in new printing techniques and finishes is constantly pushing the boundaries, and the availability of new substrates makes it even more exciting.

'Gone are the days of just printing on paper. You can now embellish corks, grass-cloths and silks with pretty much any design. The usage is also bolder and braver. If you have the confidence, there are endless possibilities,' explains David Harris, Design Director at Andrew Martin.

1. Escape with a scenic wall mural

Scenic landscape wall mural ideas are the biggest story in wallpaper trends for 2022 – wonderfully atmospheric and evocative, a stunning wall mural will transform and capture the imagination.

You don’t have to put your artistic nature to the test when it comes to picture walls. There are plenty of wallpapers that are designed to do just that with trompe l’oeil illustrations that can quickly add an extra dimension even in small spaces.

A panoramic mural can not only transport you to another space (figuratively as well as literally!), but by choosing a nature-inspired design, the boundaries between indoors and out can become blurred.

For a relaxing bedroom wallpaper scheme, turn to images of escapism, like this tropical pictorial wallpaper that evokes the memory of faraway shores. Complete the look by choosing furniture, bedding and cushions in earthy ochre and a pinch of ginger for a fully immersive design.

2. Max out with full-scale pattern

(Image credit: Future / Adrian Briscoe)

Maximalism is an interior design trend that's back in a big way for 2021, and we predict that this daring look is here to stay.

In bold contrast to the understated, this living room decor idea reveals the design world’s wild side. An arresting mix of leopard prints, pleating and patchworks, together with stars, stripes and metallic hides, demonstrates that more can be more.

2. Factor in an abundance of florals

Floral room decor is big news for 2022 interiors and can be adapted to suit any space, whether it’s vintage, retro or contemporary. These new season designs have upped the style stakes and make it easy to work beautiful flowers into your décor.

Start off by thinking about color. The palette you choose will guide your decisions when it comes to choosing floral designs and will act as the basis for pulling your scheme together.

When working floral prints into your home, think about the scale of the flowers in the patterns. Large prints can make small rooms appear even smaller so stick to daintier designs to create an illusion of space.

3. Take a bold approach to decorating with wallpaper

(Image credit: Simon Bevan / Future)

Color trends have also gone the same way with neutrals edging away from the gray (dare we say it) and moving more towards the warmer tones to beckon in the return of brown furniture.

Don’t be afraid to combine different patterns and color combinations.

'Mix classic designs such as stripes or florals with exotic styles such as ikats and Turkish Kilims. Avoid making the space look too busy by choosing patterns in colors that complement each other,' says Martin Waller, Founder of Andrew Martin.

4. Surround yourself with botanicals

(Image credit: Future / Polly Wreford)

Sustainability and being 'happier at home' is at the forefront of our minds for 2022, and it will only escalate further as time goes on. An increased awareness of the finitude of our natural resources has led to an increased desire to repair, repurpose and recycle.

Visible repairs are celebrated and emphasized, and durable, natural, and woven materials are championed. Bolder greens are also taking over from the midnight blue bringing in the biophilic trend of wellness through plants and foliage.

'Any reference to bringing the outside in will have an impact on wellbeing with the plant trend that just keeps on growing,' explains Maryanne Cartwright, Design Manager at Graham & Brown.

5. Go for dramatic graphics

(Image credit: Future / Paul Raeside)

This year has seen us all searching for security and structure amid the chaos. An escalating need to impose systems of order and control in all facets of life, from wellness trends to dating apps, has seen a rise in popularity for simplified, structured design.

Interiors referencing elemental geometric arrangements, subtle raised relief and monochrome palettes channel the comfort found in pattern and routine.

A turbulent environment of political and social unrest has led to a yearning for designs which reflect values of authenticity, humanity and trustworthiness.

Craftsmanship and heritage designs are celebrated and familiar natural motifs are favored, as shown on the accent wall idea above. We are more willing to invest in designs that have meaning and have been lovingly created than mass produced products.

During a period of uncertainty it is not uncommon for certain elements of nostalgia to set in as we reach for the archive when choosing our next wallpaper.

7. Create a picture-perfect scheme with wall panels

Panels are big when it comes to bedroom wallpaper ideas for 2021. It's not overly common to have paneling in a bedroom, but if you live in a period property – or got them built in to add character to a plain space – you have plenty of space to play with wallpaper.

Previously a living room trend, adding a statement paper in slices allows you to go bold with color and pattern without overwhelming the room. Choosing a natural inspired scheme and colorway keeps things calming, too.

8. Decorate with textural papers

(Image credit: Paul Massey / Paolo Moschino for Nicholas Haslam)

Gone are the days when wallpaper was a one-dimensional piece of paper on the wall. As printing techniques develop, the number of surfaces that can be printed on increase.

One of the most comforting wallpaper trends is introducing texture to the walls. Choose a hessian wallcovering for the ultimate cosseting effect, and let the coziness commence.

9. Add charm with Chinoiserie

Chinoiserie is another wallpaper trend which has been in and out of fashion for many years. Historically associated with grand country manor homes, this technique has been modernized and updated is a fresh new way.

Characterized by fantastical oriental scenes and sinuous, stylized flower and bird motifs, the Chinoiserie trend has witnessed a surge in popularity in recent years, with today's wallpaper and fabric houses offering a wealth of ornate decorative designs to bring wow-factor to your interior design choices.

10. Add drama with dark colors

Dark colors used to be avoided, as often this would be misinterpreted as making a room seem dark and dingy.

However, with an eclectic use of space, well-placed shapes and smart living room lighting ideas like in the space shown above, deeper royal blues and luxurious emerald greens are making a desired comeback.

What are the wallpaper trends for 2022?

Scenic and mural wallpapers continue to be a popular trend for 2022. From serene painterly flowers and textures to atmospheric panoramas, scenes and murals put your walls center stage and offer a variety of extraordinary statements for your walls.

'Fine art-inspired wallpaper is having a moment with life size art murals proving popular. However, don’t blindly follow trends and above all, only choose a style if you really love it,' says Martin Waller, Founder of Andrew Martin.

'Whatever your taste, there is something for everyone, from traditional florals and trompe l’oeil, to contemporary geometric and tropical patterns or animal motifs and architectural designs.   The usage is also bolder and braver. 1. Blooming florals

Pondering Peonies Duck Egg Wallpaper, £99 per roll, Woodchip & Magnolia x Fearne Cotton

'Florals for wallpaper? Groundbreaking. No but really, they just work,' says Nina Tarnowski, Founder of Woodchip & Magnolia. 'They can also be adapted to suit any space or design style. Always consider the size of the room when making florals work in your space. The bigger the space, the bigger you can go with the bloom. For more compact rooms, stick to the smaller, more intricate designs to make the space look bigger.'

2. Wood effect

Bavaria, £49,99 per sqm, Naturewall

Bring a hint of the natural world into any room of the room with wallpaper disguised to look like bare wooden walls.

'The desire to be more connected to nature has increased over the past year, with the importance highlighted of its benefit on wellbeing,' says Olivia Crosher, interior designer at Naturewall. 'People are wanting to add the warmth and depth found in natural colours and materials to their interiors to make their homes comfortable, calming, and relaxing environments.’

3. Restorative prints

Restore in Midnight, £65 per roll, Graham & Brown

Wallpaper trends are about more than what's stylish and cool - it's a reflection of our values and where we are in the world.

'When designing our Wallpaper of the Year 2022, we really took our time to consider what is important to us and what we have valued over the past year,' says Maryanne Cartwright, Design Manager of Graham & Brown. 'As time seemed to slow, we had a moment of self-reflection to consider the environment around us from the protective shells of our homes, we discovered the importance of self-care.'

'Through the limited access to the outdoors, we have truly appreciated the importance of nature, and the natural calmness that we find in the elements. This led us to the creation of Restore, its wild and trailing detailing references the natural habitat reclaiming the urban spaces, questioning our impact on the environment and a need to reconnect with natures healing qualities.”

Collection L'Atelier in Assemblage, £116.80 per roll Casamance

Art-inspired prints are a recurring trend in wallpaper design, and this year the graphic, abstract style is leading the pack.

The trend of abstract cut-out design has changed and morphed quite a bit since its take off in popularity a few years ago,' says Jess, designer and data analyst at Hovia . 'We are seeing creators experiment with different materials now, such as wood, paint, canvas, and weaving. Over time this trend has evolved from a digital style to more tactile designs with focus on textures and textiles.'

5. Trompe l'oeil

Library in Multi, £143 for a pack of 2 rolls, Andrew Martin

Trompe l'oeil, the french term meaning to trick the eye, is essentially a 2-D painting or print that creates the illusion of being 3-D. This type of design has been more regularly seen in murals and wall panels rather than full wallcoverings, but for 2022 it's taking over all four walls. That said, you can always think about how to wallpaper a feature wall if you want to make a single wall statement.

Choose a print which reflects the purpose of the room it's covering, such as shelves of books in a home office, plants in a morning room, or an ocean inspired effect in a bathroom.

6. Fun in the cloakroom

Coral in Lapis, £76 per roll, Missprint

Your cloakroom is often the only bathroom guests will see and it's not somewhere anyone spends a huge amount of time, so take this opportunity to show off your style and push your boundaries while you're at it.

'Cloakrooms are ideal for embracing unique style and making a statement,' says Rebecca Drury, Co-Founder, MissPrint. 'Ensuring big impact in small spaces, colourful and patterned wallpaper is ideal, from bold geometric designs to large-scale botanical prints. Colour blocking will also come through as a bold way to inject some colour into a room or combining a mix of patterns and prints.'

7. Mural

Wintermorgen, £166, Wallpaper Direct

'We're seeing a resurgence of one of the oldest decorative treatments, the mural,' says Melanie Adams, Global Manager of Wallpaper Direct. 'These larger scale wallcoverings enable you to set the scene and effortlessly add character and personality to your space. '

'Murals come in all shapes, sizes and themes from historical interpretations to contemporary wall art and with many designers incorporating into their wallpaper collections, are becoming much more accessible.'

8. Sporting style

Round The Island in Indigo, £135 per roll, Mulberry Home

Statement wallpapers are always very much on trend, but one of the newest variations on this is by introducing a bit of whimsy. Wallpapers depicting sports and country pursuits will be a popular choice over the next year. Bonus - you absolutely do not have to play or follow the sport to appreciate or use the designs.

'With a spirit of individuality, sporting pursuit designs follow the 2022 wallpaper trend,' says Ann Grafton, Managing and Creative Director, Mulberry Home.

9. Architectural inspiration

Hey! Manhattan in Weathered Cedar, coming soon to Mini Moderns

Instead of travelling, we're bringing other cities into our homes for 2022. Last year, the look was very much far-flung, holiday-inspired tropical destinations, but now that the world's opening up again, we're looking towards busy, cosmopolitan regions. Choose a graphic interpretation of a skyline for a contemporary effect.

'This wallpaper is an unapologetically personal paean to their favourite city,' say the experts at Mini Moderns. 'Look closely at the abstract forms to discover two bridges, a couple of famous skyscrapers and an endless stream of traffic making its way uptown. The torn paper aesthetic lends an energy and immediacy to the design, capturing the vitality of the city.'

10. Bathroom wallpaper

Bathrooms are a wonderful place to add wallpaper for a fun hit of colour and print in a typically neutral and plain area.

"We are going to see a move away from cool greys and sleek whites in the bathroom towards warmer, bolder and more vibrant tones,' says says Rebecca Drury, Co-Founder, MissPrint.

When choosing which of the bathroom wallpaper ideas you're going to use, make sure to consider waterproof wallpaper if using over a bath or around a shower, but washable and wipeable should be enough if covering areas out of the splash zone.

Wallpaper trends from 2021 that are still going strong

As much as we love the newest and freshest wallpaper trends, there are a few designs from last year which are still popular. Anyway, remember that what's most important is finding a wallpaper that you and your home love, rather than what the newest design trend is.

These are our favourite trends from 2021 which going to continue being popular in the year to come.

1. Modern wallpaper borders

Woodchip & Magnolia, Garden of Eden Grey Border, £99

Woodchip & Magnolia are bringing back the retro trend for wallpaper borders. Introduce a striking, contemporary take on the retro 80’s wallpaper trend with a captivating wallpaper border, to break up walls and add an element of fun to a decorating scheme.

''We’re bringing back the much-loved 80’s wallpaper border trend, but with a contemporary twist' says Nina Tarnowski of Woodchip & Magnolia. 'These supersized mural-style borders can transform and elevate any interior, from invigorating rainforests to tranquil landscapes, each design transports you to another world.'

Woodchip & Magnolia, Nidra Moss Green Border, £99

You can use a statement wallpaper border at any height, but they are most effective when pasted inline with traditional architectural design details

Nina adding, 'With so many decorating possibilities, they work wonders placed in the centre of the wall displayed like a piece of art, or higher up as a scene you might admire whilst lying in bed or the bathtub. Our newest technology now means they have the best moisture-resistant properties, meaning you can pop one along your kitchen as an eye-catching splashback or place a serene scene in the bathroom for an oasis of calm. '

2. Artistic lines

Black and White Pose Mural, from £30 per sqm, Wallsauce

Line drawing and abstract Picasso-style portraits have been popular for the last few seasons, but very much with a focus on accessories. This year that bold trend is moving to walls, with Wallsauce reporting the designs as a key seller for 2021. Not for the faint hearted this bold and beautiful wallpaper trend is an expression of self.

Line art designs range from large-scale murals to smaller face prints to suit all rooms. 'We think that this line art wallpaper would look amazing on the largest wall in a bathroom paired with sage-green painted walls' says Wallsauce. 'Add a monochrome tribal patterned bathmat, tasseled towels and tropical leafy green plants to go with this unique face wallpaper.'

3. Textured walls

Astrea, £140 per m, Fermoie

Textured wallpaper is seeing a huge comeback this year, whether it's sumptuous upholstery or tactile soft furnishings – homes need to be layered with texture. We want the decoration to speak to us, literally as if whispering 'touch me, I'm irresistible'.

Many fabric and wallpaper specialists are working to combine the two mediums. The results are beautifully decorative surfaces that are neither one nor the other, they become a decoration in their own right. One such company doing so is Fermoie, with a paper backing service available on all Fermoie fabrics, the perfect way to bring walls to life alongside soft furnishings.

Ashanti Wallpaper, £448 per roll, Andrew Martin

‘Add interest with textured wallcoverings. Grasscloth, cork or paper backed silks define a design direction so simply. They add immediate depth and can demonstrate Parisian Glamour or Saville Row sophistication at a stroke,’ explains Martin Waller at Andrew Martin.

'Gone are the days of just printing on paper, you can now embellish corks, grass-cloths and silks with pretty much any design.'

Is wallpaper popular again?

Wallpaper never quite left, but it's certainly risen in terms of popularity over the past couple of years. Part of the reason for this is that there are simply so many innovations in design that you can find whatever it is you're after in terms of texture, colour or pattern. Whatever it is you're looking for, there are a few rules of thumb which can help you cut through how many options there are available. 'Wallpaper has a huge impact on the mood of a room so it’s key to get the design right,' says Martin Waller from Andrew Martin. 'When choosing wallpaper, consider the size of a room. Smaller scale patterns work well in big rooms, but can overwhelm smaller spaces. Larger scale patterns work well in most rooms but think about lighting, as this can affect the look of wallpaper and make a colour appear lighter or darker.'

Are wallpaper borders out of style 2022?

Wallpaper borders are not completely out of style, but they have been updated. There are a couple of trends for this year which involve borders. The first is an inversion of the traditional border, by keeping your room either painted or painted in a single bold colour, with a border made from a strip of wallpaper. The alternative is by painting the wallpaper border instead. For a cool, modern look choose a contrasting shade. If you're after a more calm style, choose a complementary tone to that used in the wallpaper.

What colour wallpaper is in for 2022?

There are a range of on trend wallpapers for this year, but one is head and shoulders above the rest. This normally goes off the back of the various 'Colour of the Year' announcements from paint companies, and for 2022 light blue was the only direction to go in. Dulux names a pale blue called 'Bright Sky' as their choice, while Graham & Brown went for a mid blue named 'Breathe'.'When choosing our Colour of the Year we considered sustainability and the need to take a breath, this soothing mid blue hue invokes a cool calmness in almost any room creating a space for reflection,' says Maryanne Cartwright, Design Manager at Graham & Brown.

Trendy wallpapers 2022

Which wallpapers are trending in 2022? What materials and colors are in trend? What influences the style of the interior today? These and other questions remain relevant every year. We always strive for renewal and want to equip our space as comfortable as possible for the soul and body. What trends are relevant today, read in our article.

Every day in the post-industrial world, the ecological component of life, which affects health, mood, general emotional background and working capacity, is becoming increasingly important. The walls of our home, which make up our "second skin", should provide us with global protection from harmful external factors. And here natural materials and eco-style come to the rescue, which not only remain in trend this season, but will be with us for a long time to come. Psychological comfort will be created by imitations of natural textures, which will give a feeling of closeness to nature and a sense of spiritual harmony.
The priority remains the ability of interiors to be unobtrusive, not annoying or annoying. In the foreground - Scandinavian style, minimalism, wabi-sabi, eco, recycle, ethnic style. All this, of course, has an impact on trendy wallpapers in the interior of 2022.

The main fashion trends of wallpaper in 2022

The main trends of this year, experts note the following.

Natural. Today, the time has come when natural wallpapers have become the basis of interiors. In addition to the environmental safety of the materials themselves, natural wallpapers attract with their naturalness and textures. They are made by sticking natural fibers or their weaves onto an environmentally friendly base, thus obtaining natural canvases in the full sense of the word. Today, bamboo and jute wallpapers are popular. Wood veneer, linen, sisal and even plant leaves are growing in popularity. Of course, they all require special care, but bringing nature into the house, and with it peace and harmony, is worth a lot.

Handmade. Many wallpapers made from natural materials are made by hand. It can be either drawing a design or the process of creating textures. In the past 2021, such wallpapers rose in the popularity rating to the leading positions, and today in 2022 they reached the peak of popularity and became a real trend of the season.

Light and airy. One of the main wallpaper trends of this year is the creation of atmosphere in the interior. It should not be overloaded with complex elements, flashy motives. Everything should be simple and concise, so the wallpaper should be light and airy. It is better to do it in such a way that a certain amount of understatement remains. Examples are the Scandinavian style or the recycler that has recently come into vogue.

Return to basics. This is also a fashionable trend today, demonstrating a move away from "industrialization" and a return to simple, understandable and unobtrusive ethnic motifs. Trendy wallpapers in 2022 can be a reflection of the ethnic designs of various cultures. It can be African motifs, Indian, American, English. Colonial style or retro elements are very popular today in interiors, which can be emphasized with appropriate wallpaper. The main principle is recognition and simplicity. Wallpaper should create a mood and a calm environment - without aggression.

Environmentally friendly. In recent years, wallpaper environmental issues have grown from a fashion trend to the norm. Why choose canvases made with harsh chemicals that release harmful substances into the living space when there is a safe alternative? It can be textile wallpaper made from natural fibers, paper or non-woven, produced using water-based paints, hypoallergenic fabrics specially produced for children's rooms. The choice is huge, and the main principle is safety.

Flora and fauna. How pleasant it is to calm down and fall asleep among the patterns of foliage, graceful flowers, delicate leaves! This is another one of the trendy wallpaper trends of 2022. Any canvases with flora and fauna today are very fashionable. These can be paintings: palm branches, lush flower arrangements, jungle thickets or even entire panels that can serve as an accent wall.

Paintings in the style of toile de jouis or chinoiserie deserve special attention. These are old styles that have received a new birth, which have recently been used by French decorators, and have migrated to us since last year. Toile de jouis - this is how in the old days they called cotton fabric with a printed pattern of pastoral scenes with forest animals, shepherd boys, ladies resting in nature, hunters on horseback. And now the toile de juy is a canvas for walls on paper or non-woven with recognizable idealistic patterns. The second direction is chinoiserie. In fact, this style represents Chinese motifs in a European interpretation: plum blossoms, birds of paradise, outlandish plants, pagodas. In such canvases, the main values are the recognizability of drawings and their rhythm, which soothes and relaxes.

Geometry. The fashion for geometric patterns has smoothly flowed from 2021 to 2022. Experts believe that the secrets of the popularity of geometry in wallpaper patterns are the ability to radically change the “mood” of a separate room, which is extremely important for those who work at home today. It is enough to decorate one room with wallpaper with a geometric pattern, and immediately the interior and the internal state of a person will be balanced. In this regard, there is only one advice - do not be afraid of cardinal and non-standard decisions.

Fashion trends 2022

Naturalness

Absolutely for all people, regardless of their age and social status.

Today, naturalness in wallpapers is the components of a healthy lifestyle that has become fashionable and is firmly rooted in the mind of a modern person: giving up bad habits, sports, healthy eating, environmentally friendly materials, including wallpaper.

Handmade

Suitable for people who are engaged in handmade and appreciate manual work. These wallpapers, along with naturalness, demonstrate what amazing results can be achieved without the use of automated lines and robots.

Return to the origins

Fashion wallpaper sector in ethnic style is suitable for people over 35 who subconsciously feel ethnic motives. These can be people who have traveled or worked in countries where ethnic groups live, or just history lovers who want to bring it into their interior.

Lightness and airiness. The main thing is to create an atmosphere of relaxation from the hustle and bustle without a rigid reference to the classics.

Environmental friendliness

An ideal wallpaper option for families with children, because nothing is more valuable than a child's health.

Eco-friendly wallpaper is also suitable for a house or apartment where a person with allergies or respiratory diseases lives.

Flora and fauna

Canvases for true aesthetes, regardless of their age. For those who appreciate the beauty of nature and do not get tired of enjoying it.

Trends in fabric materials

Until quite recently, the industry did not indulge in the choice of wallpaper materials, and this is despite the fact that wallpaper has been known for a long time. In recent years, the situation has changed dramatically. There are so many wallpaper options that fashion trends have appeared in the materials of the canvases themselves. Which of them are the most fashionable in 2022?

Textile wall coverings. This year, designers advise not to be afraid of textile wallpapers, even though they require careful maintenance. These wallpapers can be a continuation of "naturalness". The best options are linen, cotton, silk. On the one hand, such canvases are a return to the old traditions of wall decoration, and on the other hand, they are, as they say, “the latest fashion”.

Paper or non-woven wallpaper. Today, these materials are the epitome of sustainability, which, as we already know, is the fashion trend of 2022.

Reliable imitations of natural textures. Another wallpaper trend for 2022. Moreover, leading designers say that, judging by the new collections of famous brands, such wallpapers, which “mask” different species, such as marble, cedar wood or textured fabric, will become favorites this year. Among the hottest hits can be noted canvases with a terrazzo pattern. The secrets lie in the high decorative effect, which is achieved by drawing or obtaining texture by pressing the top layer, such as vinyl.

Trends. Wallpaper color

The desire to get trendy wallpaper 2022 at any cost can lead to a critical error if the color is not taken into account. It must be understood that the colors of the wallpaper also have their own fashion, and this fact must be taken into account without fail. At the same time, one must understand that designers do not impose trends in wallpaper colors. They themselves are installed depending on the needs of people.

In one of her interviews, the author of the first Russian trend book, Zoya Tee, said that today, when there are continuous problems around us, the living space of a house or apartment should become a place where it is calm and comfortable. Where can you come and relax. That is why psychological aspects are important when choosing a wallpaper color.

What colors are in demand today?

Space blue. This is a dark blue color that, despite its intensity, allows you to relax almost instantly.

Blackberry. Shades of blue, violet, lilac have a calming effect, therefore they are in demand. It can be blueberry, blackberry, cranberry, cranberry. On the one hand, they are beautiful and rich, and on the other hand, they resemble berries, and therefore nature.

Endless nude. Where would we be without it, without pastel pink, green, blue shades, which are currently in great demand?

Mustard, honey and sun. Accent bright colors that embody warmth and happiness.

Night sky and sea greens. Deep shades that are in demand in "natural" interiors.

Chocolate Paradise. "Sweet" chocolate colors are in trend today, ranging from milky white to deep cinnamon.

Complex green. Somehow it so happened that khaki is back in fashion. It is difficult to say what kind of reincarnation this is, but in 2022, wallpapers of color shades close to khaki are in trend.

Black. The color of refined style and respectability, which is always in fashion.

Dynamic contrasts. Designers advise using color contrasts that are fashionable today in interior design. For example, you can stick yellow wallpaper on one wall, and decorate the other in bright red. The effect is amazing. The main thing in this case is to take into account the rule of mixing colors along the color wheel in order to obtain a harmonious interior.

Room trends

Living room. This is a true paradise for lovers of minimalism. This room should be minimally occupied by furniture placed along the walls. It is then that the living room will be filled with air, and, while receiving guests, it will be possible to enjoy the atmosphere of pleasant communication.

If the walls are minimally occupied by pieces of furniture, then there are ample opportunities for experimenting with prints and textures. Feel free to choose a rich design, such as flora, geometry, ethnic style. Any solution will be relevant, and if you think that the saturation is too much, then dilute it with companion background wallpapers.

Bedroom. "Place of power" in any apartment or house.

Focus on texture and color! The texture affects the perception of design no less than color, and to create a mood of relaxation, the texture, for example, of textiles will help maintain the atmosphere of relaxation.

Child. The main thing in the room where the child is located is the safety of materials! We strive to give our children the best, and if we talk about environmental friendliness and hypoallergenicity, then you should pay attention to paper and non-woven wallpapers.

In order to "extend the life" of the interior of the children's room as much as possible, choose designs that will be relevant for more than one year, taking into account the age of the child. It is important to strike a balance and let the child enjoy the happy moments of childhood. If the kid is involved in the choice of wall coverings, please him and let him express himself, since he will live in this interior. Our range includes wallpaper-coloring. A child can draw on them, getting to know the world and creating their own interior.

Kitchen. The main trend for the kitchen is to make the impractical practical.

Often, when choosing wallpapers for the kitchen, we deprive ourselves of the opportunity to use natural textiles or natural fibers, such as, for example, sisal, jute or abaca, because this is not practical. Go for the trick - imitate natural materials. You have in your arsenal many options for wall coverings made of vandal-resistant vinyl, the texture of which faithfully imitates natural materials.

Corridor. The interior of the corridor is a place for experiments! Most often, we devote the least attention to this room, but in vain.

Zoffany Kensington Walk

In fact, the corridor is the face of our house. There are two ways to go about it. The first is to make an accent wall, unless, of course, the area and configuration of the room allow. The second is to highlight the corridor with color and emphasize it with texture. Both ways are effective trend solutions.

Consider the brightest and most current wallpaper trends in 2022 with a photo in the interior.

Gradient

Social networks of designer Zhenya Zhdanova

This coloring has been confidently among the trends for several years, and it can be safely included in the list of 2022. A gradient is a smooth transition from one color to another, which looks very nice on the walls. These can be both contrasting shades (yellow and blue, purple and red, black and white, etc.), as well as different tones of the same color: for example, from dark green to light or from mother-of-pearl to anthracite gray.

Gradient finishes are good because they look unusual, but not too flashy, so they are suitable for modern minimalist interiors. The color transition itself can be either almost imperceptible, or in the form of blurry stripes or, for example, large spots. Choose a design based on what visual effect you want to achieve. For example, vertical lines will make the room a little higher, horizontal lines will “push apart” the walls, diagonal ones will add dynamics to the space.

Abstraction

The abstract print does not lose its relevance. Such wallpapers can be entered into almost any style, for which designers are very fond of them.

Design: Svetlana Kuksova. Photo: Natalia Mavrenkova

There are two types of abstract canvases: bright and large pattern or discreet low-contrast ornament. The first option is best used for local accent decoration, the second - for the design of all walls. Among the variety of prints now in trend:

Botany

Floral wallpaper is not only the Provence style or associations with the grandmother's house in the country. A floral ornament can create a completely different atmosphere (examples are in the photo below).

Vostok

Exotic fashion is unlikely to disappear in the near future, and oriental themes are especially popular in interior design. Particularly Japan and China.

Oriental wallpaper is a non-trivial and complex solution that imposes a certain responsibility. To fit them into the environment, you need to take into account every little thing: colors, combination with other finishes, furniture design, decor. The room should not look like a hall of an ethnographic museum, while it is important that the walls decorated “under the East” do not look foreign in the interior. The easiest way is to add some decor with similar themed ornaments or in the same style, diluting it with neutral decorations or furniture.

When choosing an oriental design, pay attention to:

Metallic

Fabrics with a metallic effect will help to make a neutral interior more textured and interesting.

A light sheen will enliven a restrained palette (especially if it is based on gray), accentuate furniture and large decor. Typically, such models are produced in monochrome colors, most often black or graphite. To prevent dark walls from looking too gloomy, balance them with light details: floors, white ceilings, furniture and textiles. Another variant of the coating with a metallic effect is gold-plated threads on a plain background.

Graphics

If you like story canvases, replace banal photo wallpapers or factory imitations of paintings with sophisticated and stylish graphics.

Social media studio Bychkovy

This category includes sketches, pencil sketches, graphics, murals, engravings and toiles. Most often, such drawings are made in black and white, it can also be a sepia effect. If the pattern is repetitive and non-contrasting, you can paste over the entire room with wallpaper. If it is an active and large plot print, use it as an accent. Combine with minimalist finishes and simple furniture in natural tones: black, gray, brown, white. 9

  • Monochrome

The general direction of modern design speaks about what other wallpapers are currently in trend. First of all, this is a focus on minimalism, and it implies the absence of ornaments.

Design: Alina Chapanidi. Photo: Mikhail Chekalov. Style: Katie Klee

Therefore, simple plain wallpaper is more relevant than ever. But if smooth walls in a single shade seem too boring to you, they can be beaten with:

    Geometric

Geometric pattern is an ageless classic that will always remain relevant. The main advantage of this print is the ability to visually change the proportions of the room.

Stripes do this especially well: vertical ones will visually raise the ceiling, horizontal ones will make a narrow wall appear wider, diagonal ones will make the space look larger.

In addition to classic prints (polka dots, stripes, cage), the interior will look stylish:
