Do-it-yourself mirror frame with photo

An original mirror in a frame can decorate and transform even the simplest room. But sometimes such products have an impressive price, which exceeds the amount of wages. In such a situation, we recommend not to despair, because you can do something similar with your own hands. We have prepared stylish ideas, among which you will find the option that suits you.
Polymer clay frame
Of course, large mirrors are very important in the interior of the apartment. But still, for every girl, a mirror for applying makeup is much more significant. We offer to arrange for it a stunningly beautiful frame made of polymer clay, due to which it will become a stylish decoration of the dressing table.
Prepare the following materials for work:
- baked polymer clay in different shades;
- mirror;
- texture sheet;
- liquid plastic;
- knife;
- talc;
- acrylic paint;
- brush;
- glue;
- tape.
You will need a whole piece of rolled out polymer clay to create the base of the frame. On the working surface, roll it out so that the edges go beyond the borders of the mirror by a few centimeters on each side.
Sprinkle the textured sheet with talc and transfer the design onto the plastic with a brush.
The back wall can be made in one color or you can use several shades and patterns, as in the photo. In this case, all the elements must be pressed tightly against each other so that after baking they hold well.
We bake the back wall of the frame, taking into account the recommendations of the polymer clay manufacturer. In the meantime, let's tackle the front. Roll out two different shades of the same thickness and size.
We cut them with a special knife and shape them, as in the photo.
Fold the clay sheet in half and then roll it out.
Repeat this process several times to create a nice gradient effect.
After you have achieved the desired result, take the texture sheet and transfer the pattern to the clay.
We wait until the back wall of the frame cools down and put it with the pattern down. In the central part we place a mirror. Gently lubricate the frame with liquid plastic.
Trim the patterned polymer clay to create the outside of the frame. We lay out all the pieces with the right side, be sure to press them to each other.
The next step is to create a leg for the mirror. It should be strong, so we cut it out of polymer clay, as shown in the photo.
Take another piece of polymer clay, roll it out and transfer the texture pattern. We put it on top of the first leg and cut off the extra parts. We bake the parts according to the instructions of the clay manufacturer.
Let's start decorating the frame. We cover all the convex places of the texture pattern with acrylic paint.
Repeat the same for the back side of the frame.
We fix the leg with a special wide tape or glue.
Frame made of plastic spoons
Almost everything around you can be used as decoration. Even ordinary-looking plastic spoons will turn the mirror into a real work of art. Step by step photo tutorial.
Depending on the shape of the mirror, the color of the spoons and their number, they will look completely different.
Cutlery frame
Original decor items are needed not only in the room or living room, but also in the kitchen. For example, a mirror framed with cutlery looks very original. Be sure that it is this thing that will attract the attention of all guests. We will talk about how to make such a frame later.
Let's prepare the materials that will be needed to create the frame:
- cutlery;
- mirror;
- glue;
- cardboard;
- beads;
- plate (larger diameter than mirror).
Cut out a round base from cardboard. The diameter should be slightly smaller than the plate.
Arrange the cutlery on the cardboard so that they are evenly spaced. Do not forget to alternate objects of different sizes.
When all the appliances are laid out perfectly, glue them one by one with glue.
Apply glue to the middle of the cardboard mold and place the plate on top.
Glue a mirror to the plate and decorate with beads as desired.
Branch frame
Mirrors with this frame are very popular. Their cost is quite high, but remember that almost everything can be done independently.
For this you will need:
- branches of approximately the same thickness;
- plain framed mirror;
- glue;
- masking tape;
- paper;
- spray paint.
Cover the mirror with paper and masking tape. On the wrong side, we make markings so that the branches are located approximately the same. Glue the longest branches to the base of the frame.
Glue the remaining branches, alternating short and long, to create a harmonious result. We remove the markup and leave the workpiece to dry.
We spray the branches with the desired shade and leave to dry. Only after that we remove the paper from the mirror. We attach a loop to the back surface to hang it on the wall.
By the way, you can make such a frame for a mirror not only from twigs, but also from wooden skewers and even from paper.
Mirrors with frames made of larger branches or even pieces of bark look amazingly beautiful.
Mosaic frame
A stylish frame can be made using mosaic. To do this, glue the mirror to a thick cardboard of the desired shape. Then, with the help of glue, we attach the mosaic elements.
Fill all the space between the mosaic with a special grout and wait for it to dry. In the end, simply remove the traces from the surface with a sponge.
Unusual mirror frame ideas
In today's world, many prefer to decorate their homes in soothing shades. It looks very nice and noble. At the same time, such a design can be supplemented with bright accents and periodically changed.
