Decorating a Hutch or a Cabinet?

It’s on my bucket list to own a beautiful, rustic pine hutch someday. I’d love to be able to display it seasonally in a dining room with soaring ceilings. But my old house just doesn’t have that kind of space at this point, so I’ve settled on glass front cabinets to keep my decorating skills happy! And as I was browsing through years of pictures, I realized glass front cabinet displays have become the backbone of my home’s decor. Let me show you all the ways you can enjoy them!

Make the Background of Your Glass Front Cabinet Interesting

Before you add anything to your cabinet, think about the back wall. How can you make the backdrop of your display interesting? You can paint it, add a texture like beadboard or rustic wood, or even hang patterned wallpaper, fabric or decorative paper. Depending on what you’re going to display, you can really punch up the wow factor with something fun!

Another idea is to hang a decorative accessory on the back wall of your cupboard. A pretty wreath, frame, or plate can set off your vignette beautifully.

Style Your Cabinet Display With a Color Theme

Decide on a color theme to decorate your cabinet display. Choose seasonal colors, or coordinate with a special party you’re hosting. Starting with a color theme of 3 or 4 colors is often where I start when styling my glass front cabinets.

In our upstairs hallway, we moved a door and built in an old glass front cabinet on the top and a vintage dresser beneath it. Here’s how differently it looks with a Spring color scheme of blues, greens and purples compared to Fall colors of oranges, golds and browns. The glass doors were given a rest, which gave me even more depth to decorate.

When I styled this seasonal switch, I tried to use almost the same types of accessories in the same locations. Notice the similarities?

Display a Favorite Collection in Your Glass Front Cabinet

All those wonderful shelves can happily display one of your vintage collections. Pretty glassware, vintage cameras or typewriters, or some other valued collection you’ve been hunting down for years, corral it all together for impact. My great grandmother’s primitive jelly cupboard is a treasure. Someday I’m going to give it the refresh treatment it deserves. But I love it’s display space up top and the storage down below.

Use a Repeating Shape When Styling the Shelves

Repeating shapes is one of the hidden tricks of good styling. Use many different objects that all share the same shape, but are made of different materials. Your eyes happily jump around from thing to thing and is pleased to see the harmony, without even noticing it.

This display showcases the circle shape on many different vintage finds. Other rounded objects multiply the effect.

To Balance Your Display, Think of an “X”

Styling a big bank of shelves in a large cabinet display can be intimidating. Start with larger anchor pieces and place them in an X; top left, bottom right, bottom left, top right. The middle of the X can be a larger object or objects, too. This will keep your display from getting too “heavy”.

When I style the big canvas of my kitchen glass front cupboards, this design concept comes in handy. Notice the similarities in the diagonals.

Add a Wide Variety of Textures to Your Display

You can decorate your glass front cabinet display a thousand different ways, but it can be fun to bring in a wide variety of textures. I consciously go through a checklist in my mind of all the different surface materials I’m using: glass, wood, metal, woven, painted, foliage. It’s a great way to think of accessories you may have somewhere in your home you hadn’t thought of using.

Create an En Masse Display

At the total opposite end of the spectrum is to create a display with all one thing. Kind of like using a collection, styling with all one item can be both relaxing and exciting at the same time. I love stuffing a whole cabinet with vintage books with their page sides sticking out. Or, have the binding sides out and group them by color. This type of display can be artistic and bring an eclectic flair to your home. Plus…it’s easy!

Decorate with Glass Front Cabinet Displays in Every Room

I’ve found that glass front cabinets are a great way to display a lot of fun accessories without getting your home decor too busy. I love my vintage things, but don’t like my home to feel too busy (or get too dusty!). Exactly why we’ve built in old cupboard display cabinets, designed glass front kitchen doors, and spread refreshed furniture pieces in different rooms. Even bedrooms are great places for glass front cabinets to corral pretty accessories.

Hang a Pretty Wreath or Accent on the Outside of the Cabinet, Too

Think beyond just decorating the inside of the cupboard or cabinet. You can have fun with the outside, too! A wreath can hang beautifully from the latch or knobs, or you can drape garland across the doors for a festive touch.

Create a Vignette on the Top of the Cabinet with Larger Accessories

Last, but definitely not least, the top of a cabinet or hutch is a fun canvas to feature larger items that don’t fit inside. You can either carry through the theme you’ve got going inside the cupboard, or block off the glass fronts if showing the inside would be too busy. At Christmas time, my house gets very busy with decor, so I decided to simply tape some burlap fabric to the inside of these glass doors. The change was a nice rest for my eyes.

As you might have guessed, styling glass front cabinets is one of my favorite decorating “jobs”! Have I convinced you that you need more glass front cabinets in your life? I hope so! They hold so much decorating possibility and can be used in any room of your home. They’re a great way to enjoy all the fun vintage things without getting too cluttery. And if you’re square-feet challenged, like me, they are a big decorating bang for the footprint.

Hutch displays can offer many of these same decor possibilities,  and I can’t wait to see how the rest of my Lifestyle of Love friends decorated their homes. Visit the talented Emily at Le Cultivateur next; she has ahhhmazing vintage-filled displays in her home!

How to Style Glass Kitchen Cabinets

Building and Remodeling Inspo | Decorating

When we designed our kitchen, I knew I wanted all of the upper cabinets to have glass fronts. I love the look of glass cabinets in a kitchen, but to be honest I found them a bit intimidating to style in the beginning. I had not considered that everything I put inside the glass doors would make such an impact on the overall look of my kitchen. Over time, I learned some simple tricks that made my cabinets not only function well, but look great. Today I wanted to share with you a few easy tips for styling glass kitchen cabinets to achieve the look you want.

CHOOSE A COLOR PALETTE

SPRING-SUMMER

Having a mostly white kitchen gives me plenty of options when it comes to adding color, but I have found that I have to be deliberate in my choices. If I have different colors in all of my cabinets, my kitchen tends to look a bit messy and disconnected. My solution is to display the items that fit into my color palette in my glass cabinets and store the dishes and serving ware that don’t match in my cabinets with solid doors.

SPRING-SUMMER

In the spring and summer months I lighten up the look with shades of white and cream and a few subtle splashes of gray or pink.

FALL-WINTER

In fall and winter, I warm up the look of my cabinets with some additional touches of copper and natural wood sprinkled inside the cabinets and on the countertops. No matter the season season, I stick to just a couple of accent colors so that my kitchen looks clean and crisp.

FALL-WINTER

CREATE BALANCE

Having the right size and balance of items in your glass front cabinets makes a big difference in the overall look.

Generally speaking I use a combination of larger items mixed with clusters of smaller items or cookbooks. Because my cabinet doors divide the glass, I think about decorating in two columns.

I find that stacks of plates look great piled up side by side and a few cookbooks underneath a canister adds height and interest. Oversized pitchers or a soup tureen placed opposite each other on a diagonal create balance.

KEEP IT FUNCTIONAL

While it’s great to have your glass cabinets look beautiful, they must also be functional. We have two corners in our kitchen with glass cabinets and this is where I store our everyday dishes and glassware.

I don’t know about you, but my family tends to grab whatever is on the lowest shelf, so that is where I put the most often used plates and glasses. This also makes emptying the dishwasher easier.

The less frequently used or purely decorative items go on the higher shelves and are rarely disturbed. This works out well because for the most part my cabinets stay as I styled them with just a few adjustments to the lowest shelves when needed.

All of the upper cabinets in our kitchen have glass fronts, so keeping them styled and organized is vital. The good news is with some simple shifting around and seasonal changes they make our kitchen look warm and inviting, which exactly how I like it!

Glass decoration - types and applications. Ideas for the use of glass in the interior of various rooms Glass, technical use in design round

The design possibilities of glass are very extensive. And one of them is furniture production. It was necessary to overcome only the main problem of glass - its fragility. With the resolution of this shortcoming, it became possible to make wonderful glass bar counters, wonderful kitchen countertops and other furniture masterpieces. Excellent eco-friendly material has become fashionable now and, probably, for a very long time. Beautiful glass furniture in the interior. Design ideas 40 photos.

Glass furniture in the interior, quite large capacities of enterprises switched to it. Since the wonderful properties of this material are evident in the application for interior decoration in different directions. Glassware companies have found a new long-term direction of work for themselves.

Mirrored walls and ceilings, elegant coffee tables and a host of other pieces of furniture have become a new range for them. You can enumerate a fairly large list of products, including the properties of transparency of glass, its large color range, the ability to use internal lighting and a cast variety of shapes. These are the already mentioned bar counters, countertops, doors, partitions, wardrobes, cabinets and, finally, armchairs and chairs, and much more that is necessary to express the style of a modern design creation, glass furniture photo:

For the manufacture of durable glass furniture, see photo, tempered or otherwise processed sheets of glass more than ten millimeters thick are required. Moreover, the greater the thickness of the glass, the more expensive the final glass product is.
Glass types such as triplex and armored glass are used in furniture glass production. In the technological process of production, gluing and fusion operations, as well as processing edges and flat surfaces of glass, can be used. Glass furniture photo:

Types and technological methods of work are very different in execution. You can create, for example, a haze or a peculiar pattern or pattern, for example, this is often used when glass table furniture is produced. Methods: edge bevelling, surface treatment by sandblasting, spraying and others. Technological processes in this business are being improved, and their result is evolving. Glass products appear on the market, and in particular glass furniture for the living room of a wide variety of styles, including classic rococo, baroque, modern.

Design and technology departments of companies are very active in this direction of production. And with a greater development of glass production technology, a more wonderful result in shape, color and other user properties will be obtained. Glass furniture photo:

Glass furniture is a sign of a self-confident owner

In the expanses of the powers of the post-Soviet space, a rather stereotypical opinion has developed about glass in the interior. Firstly, only shop windows and stained-glass windows can be made of glass. Secondly, glass furniture is a fragile creation. Perhaps that is why glass kitchen furniture today gives out in its owner a self-confident person who is not influenced by others. In addition, glass in combination with structures made of chrome-plated steel, aluminum and natural wood can become a worthy decoration not only for an apartment, but also for an office space. Glass furniture photo:

About the advantages of glass furniture

Glass is one of the most inert materials used in the production of modern glass living room furniture. This means that it does not react with water and chemicals, and dust and dirt are washed off quite easily. Even deliberately spoiling a glass tabletop is quite difficult, since it is almost impossible to scratch it with household items, it does not fade in the sun, and it does not deform under the influence of heat.

And there is no need to talk about the fragility of the material, modern furniture manufacturers make glass ten times stronger than window glass and can withstand weight up to 300 kg. In addition, if, as a result of some unforeseen earthquake, the glass furniture of the table breaks, it will crumble into harmless fragments, or even these particles will remain on the layer. Glass furniture photo:

Which room to put glass furniture in

Each owner can safely answer this question independently, depending on their own desires. Do you want to go to the bedroom? Please! Glass cabinets and shelves are at your service. In the living room, glass furniture in the interior will naturally look like a small coffee table made of glass, and in the kitchen - a large dining table with chairs - excellent glass kitchen furniture. The office space will also sparkle with completely new colors, thanks to glass furniture.

Note that, despite the fact that glass furniture in the interior is a sign of high-tech style, furniture made of this material looks great in baroque, rococo and modern rooms. Glass is able to visually expand a small space, giving the interior volume and depth, creating a clean transparent atmosphere. In addition, with the help of glass, you can play with the light in the room, and, by combining with other materials, create new urban gizmos in the spirit of the times. For example, Italian furniture manufacturers make glass chairs with leather upholstery.

Of course, glass furniture is not cheap. But there are reasons for this.

In this regard, everyone who wants to be known as people with impeccable taste is simply obliged to acquire a couple of glass items. Glass furniture photo:

Today, windows are not only a functional tool for the intake of daylight, but also a decorative element of the room, which is able to give unique brightness to the interior. Glass decoration with the development of technology takes on new forms. What types and methods of decorating glass exist, says the portal WINDOWS MEDIA.

Glass decoration - applications

Glass decoration has become one of the means to achieve an aesthetic appearance of the building, both inside and out. At present, thanks to various glass processing technologies, it has become possible to decorate it in a variety of ways. Such glass can be used in window structures, for glazing doorways, partitions, glass showers, stairs, floors and ceilings, kitchen splashbacks and so on. The original artistic effects of decor on glass can give the interior the missing zest.

With the development and improvement of glass manufacturing technologies and the increase in its technical characteristics, it has become possible to create a wide variety of patterns on glass - everything that the designer or customer's imagination is enough for.

Artistic glass processing technologies

Artistic glass processing can be two options - decorating glass during its production, that is, processing it as a material, and decorating glass, its surface by applying a pattern, stencil, film, etc.

Artistic processing can be done either hot or cold. Various types of glass processing can be used individually or together to achieve the desired pattern.

The use of one of the types of glass processing technologies or their combinations at the stage of glass production can give the glass surface a variety of textures, for example, embossed or, conversely, perfectly smooth. To give relief during the manufacturing process, metal or ceramic elements are added to the surface of the glass. Oxides of metal elements (copper, nickel, titanium, vanadium, etc.) are added during the melting of the glass mass, thereby obtaining glass of various colors, the saturation of which depends on the concentration of dye elements.

Photo: Colored glass in the glazing of the facade of the building

Glass decoration during its manufacture

Glass decoration during the production of the glass mass itself consists in adding various additional components to the glass mass to give the glass a special shape, appearance and to improve its physical indicators (strength, safety, etc.). )

"Hot" glass processing method

"Hot" glass art decoration technology requires a mandatory heating process in a furnace at the melting temperature of the glass. "Hot" processing is also used to improve the strength of the glass itself. This technology at different temperatures allows you to give the glass any shape - this is called the process of glass bending. As a result of bending, curved glass is obtained, and the bending process is also used to make stained-glass windows for non-standard window openings. After that, the finished product is cut and sanded to give a finished look.

In addition, patterned glass is obtained using the "hot" technology. By "rolling" rollers with different patterns on the material, brought to a softened state, glass with different textured patterns is obtained. Thus, it is possible to create a pattern relief with a depth of 0.5-2 mm, and the glass surface can remain smooth on the reverse side. But patterned glass will have a small percentage of light transmission, usually from 30 to 65%, so it is ideal for glazing partitions, as an insert in a floor or door, decorating cabinets, tables, shelves, and also for kitchen aprons.

Cold working method

Cold working glass includes mechanical, chemical and physical processing processes. Each of them is able to give the glass an unusual pattern.

First of all, the "cold" technology is the process of cutting with a glass cutter (diamond or roller), bevelling (giving a decorative bevel to the edges of the glass, which makes the corners smooth) and drilling holes for the subsequent fastening of fittings.

Mechanical decorating

Mechanical decorating allows you to make a pattern, ornament or inscription on the glass with the help of an abrasive material by removing glass particles from the surface and thereby making the glass matte. This method includes engraving, grinding and sandblasting.

Sandblasting is currently the most popular with the development of technological capabilities. The essence of this technology lies in the fact that a pre-prepared pattern with slots is glued onto the glass, which are subject to the action of abrasive materials. They form microscopic chips on the glass surface at an arbitrary angle to it, which gives a matte opaque shade to the glass. So, the use of several patterns at the same time, covering a drawing or ornament in different ways, can create a relief image. The sandblasting method is mainly used for decorating glass partitions in offices, bathrooms and showers, wardrobes and doors, shop windows.

Photo: Sandblasted three-dimensional drawing

The engraving process can be done physically with laser engraving and ultrasonic engraving.

Photo: Laser engraving example

Chemical method

The chemical method of artistic decoration allows you to create a pattern of different depth and complexity, as well as to give a shade from slightly matte to deep opaque matte. It is considered the most time-consuming and expensive decoration method.

The etching (or matting) method consists in applying special pastes containing hydrofluoric (hydrofluoric) acid to the glass surface, which reacts with silicon dioxide, the main component of glass, and destroys its surface, thereby creating a pattern.

Photo: Wardrobe decor by chemical etching

Etching is a rather lengthy and expensive process, especially multi-layer etching. Chemical decoration, done by one-step etching, that is, using one stencil and without applying a protective coating to the glass, is one of the simplest etching methods. Etching done in multiple layers (multi-layer) is a long and complex process. Its essence is that laminated glass is etched to different depths, due to which the effect of a watercolor image is achieved. Moreover, a protective coating is applied to the glass with a wax composition that does not allow acid exposure. Multi-layer etching allows you to achieve the most relief and three-dimensional image of the pattern.

Photo: Glass decoration by etching

Glass surface decoration methods

Glass surface decoration, regardless of the methods used, does not violate the internal content of the glass, that is, the decoration occurs only on the surface. These methods include printing on glass and painting

Painting is the most time-consuming process that requires mastery of technique from a specialist. For painting on glass, special paints are used, since glass has a rather low adhesion. After drawing a picture with special ink, the glass is placed in an oven for firing and fixing paints. Painting is often used to make stained glass windows.

Photo: Painting on glass

Stained glass is the most common type of decoration. The classical technology of making stained-glass windows is a rather complex and painstaking process. First, a sketch of the future stained-glass window is created, then it is transferred in full size to a template with all the details drawn, then glass of various colors is cut into small pieces, from which the stained-glass window is subsequently assembled. Glass parts are inserted into a brass or lead U-shaped profile, and its joints are sealed. This is a very long, labor-intensive and expensive process, and therefore, it is used only in the restoration of historical objects or on an individual order. The cost of a classic stained-glass window starts from about 800 euros per 1 m2.

Photo: Traditional stained glass windows

Photo: Classic stained glass

Therefore, stained glass imitation technology (film, printed and stained stained glass) is currently popular.
Film stained glass is one of the technologies for imitation of classic stained glass. This technology consists in applying a film similar to colored glass to solid glass. The image applied with a film is framed with a self-adhesive lead broach of various widths and colors. From a short distance, the film stained-glass window looks just like a real one.

Photo: Film stained glass window

Filled stained-glass window is a demanded and "author's" manufacturing process. The drawing is applied by hand by a specialist. First, a sketch is created, the colors of the future drawing are selected, then the contours of the future stained-glass window are drawn using special contour polymer paints, then the contours of the drawing are filled with paints, and then the finished stained-glass window is sent to the oven and dried at a temperature of 200 C˚.

Photo: Stained glass window

Printed stained glass is the most common imitation of stained glass. The application of an image that copies a genuine stained glass window is carried out with special paints using a UV printer. The main advantages of this technology are fast production, the ability to choose absolutely any pattern of stained glass and low cost of execution. Printed stained glass can be attributed to the technology of printing on glass.

Photo: Printed stained glass windows

Photo: Stained-glass windows in the interior

Printing on glass is the most popular type of decoration due to its characteristics and reasonable cost. Printing on glass can be done by applying a polymer film to the surface of the glass, with a pattern or pattern printed on it in advance, and printing on the glass itself using a UV printer.

Photo: Printing on glass

Films are a simple and inexpensive way to decorate glass. The application of films allows you to achieve a visual similarity with other methods of glass decoration, such as matting, painting or stained glass. In addition, films can provide additional security to glass, as if it breaks, the fragments will simply “hang” on the film without harming others.

Photo: Glass partition decoration with film

UV printing allows you to decorate glass with a full color image using special UV curing inks that form a resin image. Glass for UV printing can be any - transparent, translucent, colored, frosted and triplex.

When decorating a triplex, the pattern is placed between the panes, so it is even more reliably protected from the effects of the external environment (rain, sun, temperature changes), which is great for decorating translucent outdoor structures. In addition, using a UV printer, you can create a three-dimensional image of a drawing, ornament or photograph. The use of UV printing allows you to apply your favorite images to any piece of furniture, whether it be a closet, partition, shower, glass table or kitchen backsplash.

Photo: Image of Marilyn Monroe on the wardrobe using UV printing

Photo: UV print photo on glass

Glass printing is one of the modern methods of glass decoration, which is gaining more and more popularity. In particular, because automated printing allows you to quickly create identical images for serial production, as well as for the manufacture of a unique single pattern. With the help of printing, you can decorate any interior with your own vacation photos, family photos, images of your favorite actors, or capture your favorite artist's painting in your own home. In addition, the cost of printing on glass makes it one of the most affordable glass decor technologies.

Glass decorating techniques are improving every year, new methods of drawing patterns on glass appear. By combining different types of decor, you can create completely unique images, combining, for example, sandblasting with film or stained glass, each time achieving a different effect. The image can become incredibly realistic or look like a classic stained glass window, right down to the feel to the touch. It all depends solely on the imagination of the customer and the competence of the glass decorating specialist.

Glass decoration is now an indispensable element in the design of the entire building. Developed technologies, a variety of methods and affordable cost of artistic glass processing make it possible to give a unique, inimitable image to each interior, bringing to life the most daring ideas of designers and architects.

Interior doors are needed in any apartment, not only for decoration. So - they are used to divide the space. For the consumer, the quality of doors is in the first place.

If you choose a quality door, it will not let you down and will last for decades.

The choice of a door for some leads to a whole tragedy and problem. The choice of doors is very large, so you need to decide which door you need in terms of quality, style, material and price category.

Also, doors can be of different sizes, therefore, you need to decide on this in advance and measure the required doorway.

Doors with glass in room design

Glass is always in demand and looks stylish. Partitions, cabinets with glass elements are increasingly bought by consumers.

This is all because the glass looks modern and beautiful, and also visually enlarges the space.

Advantages of doors with glass

Glass is considered fragile, but special high-strength glass is used for doors. Doors with glass are practical and these are popular. Glass is easy to care for and water resistant.

It is not for nothing that glass doors are installed in baths, showers and saunas. Glass doors are more expensive than wooden ones, but this price is justified and such a door will serve for a long time and truly.

When choosing, you need to pay the main attention to quality. Demand speaks for quality.

Swing doors

This type of door consists of one leaf. But there are exceptions.

Folding doors

This type of door is suitable for small apartments where saving space is a must.

These doors have the disadvantage that they do not fit snugly against the doorway, so soundproofing is not complete.

Sliding doors

These doors can be used in apartments of any size. Such doors move due to special rails. So - this version of the door can be used for zoning space.

Glass doors are not cheap, so if you find an economical option, then most likely it is ordinary glass, which can break with a strong push or impact.

Plain glass doors are expensive, but the price is justified.

Decor glass for doors

Ordinary glass is rarely used for the production of glass doors, it is almost always decorated.

Decor is made by surface painting, engraving. The painting can be done by an artist, then the cost of the door will be higher and will depend on the professionalism of the artist.

Where is it better to buy doors with glass

If you have a house or apartment with unusual doorways and you want interior doors with an original design and high-quality construction, then of course you need to contact a private company where they can help you.

But there are many such companies now, so you need to pay attention to reviews, quality and choice.

If you have ordinary doorways, standard sizes, then interior doors of good quality can be bought at a simple hardware store. Consultants in the store will help you make the right and high-quality choice. They will also advise which door is best suited for the design of your apartment.

The main task of the door is that you and your family would like it, perform all the functions that are important to you and be completely safe for everyone. The door should not create obstacles and discomfort. That - it should fit the design and be stylish.

The choice of door must be approached strictly. The entire design of the room where this door will be installed depends entirely on the quality, design and performance of the door.

Glass interiors – changing the space

If you choose the right elements of glass, you can not only decorate the room, but also visually enlarge it, give weightlessness, for example, use wavy glass shelves in the interior for books, you can achieve ease of construction, and watching from a certain angle behind the shelf, a feeling of books floating in the air will be created.

Glass photo cabinets placed in front of the windows allow any light to pass through them, thereby visually enlarging the space. By placing such elements in a narrow room, you can perfectly imitate free space due to weightless glass structures.

In addition, the elegance of glass products has always given the interior style and freshness. Therefore, when choosing furniture, be sure to purchase a glass element, it can be not only glass cabinets, but also a bookcase or even a glass table with wrought iron legs, which will complement any interior and give it airiness.

Glass - beautiful and reliable

Recently, it has become popular to make glass floors, of course, it is more difficult to achieve the desired effect in an apartment, but with properly used lighting, the effect will be no less impressive. Glass interiors - 50 photo ideas.

Glass interiors look fragile only in appearance, in fact, modern technologies are used in the creation of glass floors, which ensure the reliability and quality of the coating.

There is another way to enlarge the space and decorate the room. Modern interiors offer to use glass partitions in the interior, that is, you can simultaneously probe the room and visually enlarge the divided zones. Previously, glass blocks of three colors (white-transparent, greenish and bluish) were used for separation functions, and now glass partitions in the interior have hundreds of shades and shapes. You can put a solid glass wall, or you can simply install a glass bookcase, filling it with books or flowers.

Well, for those who love everything unusual, the modern industry offers the installation of indoor glass waterfalls or air (bubble) walls, which, having a backlight, look beautiful in any interior and do not disturb the harmony of the room. Glass interiors - 50 photo ideas.

Summing up, we can once again note the fact that glass is a universal material that can be combined and harmonious with everything. Glass perfectly dilutes a boring interior or decorates an existing one; glass products always look appropriate. Therefore, if you have not decided on the furniture options in the room, you should consider glass interiors. /

Imagine a situation when you enter your apartment and everything around you is light, airy, floor and ceiling, glass shelves in the interior actively and effectively play with sun glare. “What is this?” you ask. All this beauty is created by glass blocks, glass interior partitions that can be used at any stage of interior decoration and in any room of your apartment or country house.

In their appearance, modern glass blocks even somewhat resemble ordinary bricks or children's square blocks from the designer. The only difference is that they are made of glass and hollow inside. It is the air that is inside the glass blocks and gives this sunny or airy effect.

Many people think that glass blocks, glass interior partitions are used only to decorate walls. But modern designers have come up with the idea of using glass blocks for decorating the floor. Agree, entering the kitchen or the bathroom and discovering such a luminous beauty under your feet, no one will remain indifferent, neither the guests of your house, nor the family members themselves.
If you decide to create such a "sunny" air floor or wall at home, we advise you to pay attention to Italian glass blocks, glass interior partitions.

Glass doors in the interior

As a rule, every buyer of interior doors, first of all, thinks about a solid leaf. But sometimes, in order to make the room bright, you want to let as much sunlight into it as possible, and for this, glass doors in the interior are the best fit. In the minds of some people, glass doors are associated with cold and sterility, since such a design can be found more often in office space than at home.

But ever since interior design styles have appeared, everything has changed. For example, to create a minimalist, simple and concise interior, a glass door is best suited. But this is not the only style of room arrangement where you can use glass doors, interior photos or partitions. Before making the final choice, it is necessary to carefully consider the finishing materials and architectural structures, taking into account all their advantages.

The main advantage of glass doors in the interior is the ability to let in the maximum amount of light. For example, if several glass structures are installed in a living room, then the light will reach the darkest corner of the apartment.
Many people believe that glass doors installed at home are not entirely safe, fragile and can cause damage.

This myth has long been proven, as manufacturers use advanced technologies to manufacture a modern glass door in the interior. The result is not only a durable door, but also impact resistant. In order to break such glass, you will need a drill or a heavy dumbbell. But this does not mean that the glass will break and cause harm. The material is shatterproof, so if it is broken, it crumbles into small crumbs.

Manufacturers have achieved this success by using special tempered and crystal glass, which is 1 cm thick. Typically, tempered glass has high strength characteristics. Its impact resistance is achieved through several times of tempering, unlike ordinary glass. In addition, there is another problem that does not allow many people to decide to install glass doors for interior photos at home - this is frequent pollution. And then the manufacturers tried to solve it. A special repellent layer is applied to the glass, which protects the surface from the accumulation of dirt.

Everyone wants to decorate their home according to the latest fashion trends. Now it is important to use a lot of glass in the interior and combine it with other materials. We will talk about how you can fit glass and products from it into the interior of the house in this article.

Glass in a modern interior

Glass has become a versatile material for interior design. In addition to standard windows and doors, it is used for arranging partitions, making furniture and shelves. It is durable and gives a feeling of space and air around. Glass is fashionable to use in a variety of cases:
Glass ceiling is an alternative to mirror panels. For it, you can use both material with a mirror finish and matte. Moreover, the latter will gently scatter light. The only drawback of such a ceiling is intolerance to temperatures above 60 degrees. For him, it is better to select local light sources or even use wall options.

Glass floor. This is perhaps the most exotic option. For its manufacture, only special tempered glass of large thickness is suitable. It is fashionable for them to lay out a small part of the floor, and it is possible to provide illumination for this area. It looks impressive and expensive.

Glass partitions are very relevant in small apartments. When delimited, the feeling of a single space and a large amount of light in the room is preserved.

Stained glass. This option is not the cheapest, but very beautiful. You can get away from the usual use of stained glass windows and doors and put a lamp with a similar lampshade or a vase in the room. When light hits them, multi-colored reflections will illuminate the walls of the room.

Glass furniture becomes popular. It can be tables and chairs, chests of drawers and cabinets. Such furniture is durable and reliable. It brings airiness to the interior due to its transparency and will perfectly fit into the design of any style.

Light fixtures. The use of glass to make chandelier shades is not new. They diffuse the light well and look beautiful. If you choose multi-colored models, then the room under artificial lighting will light up with different colors.
You can use glass for decoration anywhere. Do not be afraid to fantasize and try new things.

Glass in the interior of the apartment

All apartments are different and I would like to correct their shortcomings. Now many houses are being built with an open plan and often the living room and kitchen are one space. This is not very convenient. In this case, you can put a glass partition. For visual separation of space, it is best to choose opaque glass with or without a pattern. In our case, this is a panel of opaque glass with a wave-shaped ornament. This technique separates the two zones and makes them full-fledged and independent rooms.

You can also make a glass fragment of the floor. To do this, we leave a square-shaped hole in the floor with a side length of 1.5 m, and do not touch the logs. The voids between the latter can be covered with pebbles and shells can be placed there, if any. After that, the resulting composition is covered with glass, you can choose a material of a greenish tint. The surface of the glass and the underlying floor covering must be level. Such a floor will remind you of the sea and cheer you up on gray winter days. It is also very fashionable to make an apron in the kitchen from glass. It looks very interesting and impressive, and it is not difficult to clean such a surface. And if you also put a glass table, then a feeling of lightness will fill the whole room.

Use glass in the interior

Designers are very fond of using this material in the design of living spaces. Such an interior is very unusual and individual. We will talk about how glass can be used and what to combine it with below.

interior glass products

Glass in the rooms looks beautiful, expands the space and gives an unusual look to the whole room. For example, in the living room you can place a small glass cabinet with various shelves. You can place flowers or souvenirs on it. Moreover, it will seem that objects are floating in the air. This will give the room a mirror effect.

Decorative glass figurines and figurines look very nice. They give the room warmth, comfort and become bright accents. In the shower, you can install a door made of durable glass and apply a geometric pattern to the surface of the material. Such a door will serve not only its intended purpose, but also decorate the room itself and add more light, due to reflection from the plane of the glass.

glass and wood in the interior

Despite the difference in character and texture, wood and glass are perfectly combined. Wood gives warmth, and glass adds severity. You can combine these materials for any purpose. For example, from wood, you can make a partition with holes in a large room. It is fashionable to fill some of the voids with frosted glass, which goes well with light walls and does not weigh down the space.

A large dining table is a symbol of family and prosperity, it is pleasant to gather around it with close people. For example, glass chairs can give lightness to a wooden table. They will soften his straight lines and give lightness to the entire headset.

Another interesting option is suitable for houses with several floors. This is a staircase with glass railings. The steps and side parts are made of wood, and the side glass part gives lightness and airiness to the entire structure. Thanks to the use of glass, the interior can be made softer and more transparent, despite the massiveness of some elements.

frosted glass interior

Frosted glass is quite widely used in the interior. From it it is fashionable to make partitions in the form of doors. This is a great way to zone space. If you need to separate the forge from the dining area, just close the door and these are already two different rooms. At a feast, they can be opened, which will provide the hostess with free access to the kitchen.

It is also indispensable for the installation of a shower cabin. Why buy a shower when you can make your own. To do this, you need to use frosted impact-resistant glass, which is screwed to the rails. All necessary accessories can be easily bought. It will turn out very practical, and most importantly hygienic. Despite the simplicity of the material, it can be widely used in the home.

decorative glass in the interior

Decorative glass can be compared to works of art. In addition to its strength characteristics, its aesthetic component gives a special look even to ordinary things. For example, the arch between the kitchen and the living room is quite common, but if you decorate part of it with glass depicting thin branches and large flowers, the interior is transformed. Such a glass partition reminds of summer and goes well with the floral pattern of the wallpaper. This stained-glass window has become an accent of the entire interior.

In addition to large interior details, you can also decorate with decorative glass vases or plates using stained glass or sintering techniques. They are very beautiful and unusual. And the festive table can be served with wine glasses made of colored and textured glass.

black glass interior

In addition to the two previous types of glass, black material is also actively used in the interior. For example, interior doors with glass in full height. Black glass goes well with both dark and light colored wood. Usually on such models various images are applied. So the door is in dark wood with dark glass, decorated with floral ornaments and large crystals that imitate dew drops on the leaves. Such a door would be appropriate in an interior in the style of modern classics and a combination of a dark floor and lighter walls.

You can also decorate the doors of a large closet with similar material. Reflected in the glass surface, all objects in the room will visually increase the space. Of course, black glass is not so practical (dust and prints on it are very noticeable), but it looks impressive and strict. Do not be afraid of dark shades of glass. Despite their color, they retain all the properties of glass and help lighten the space.

Interior glass

Glass was invented a long time ago. It was first made by artisans in Venice. After it gained great popularity during the Renaissance. It was then that noble people began to decorate their homes with glass, and ladies began to wear jewelry made from this material. Modern interiors are not so decorated with glass, many neglect this material considering it not practical. After all, you can decorate a house not only with glass figures, but with glass paintings. They can be made to order for a specific design. Such a picture, when light hits it, will fill the room with bright colors and give it a certain mood. You can make a partition between rooms using a matte material or simply with a drawing. You can also use the illumination of glass elements.
