Many other tools are available that can be used for installation. All tools should be used per applicable manufacturers’ instructions.
CHECK YOUR DECK
Do not move forward until you've confirmed your deck frame is structurally sound.
Step 1: Install Suggested Blocking
BLOCKING YOUR PICTURE FRAME
- Picture framing requires additional blocking.
- When a deck board runs the same direction as the joists, additional blocking / joists must be installed to your existing substructure to adequately support and fasten the deck board.
- All infill deck boards that meet a picture frame border must be fully supported beneath the ends of each board.
- All additional framing / blocking must be in plane across the tops of existing framing members.
- All blocking / framing must be attached / installed using exterior-grade screws. DO NOT use nails.
- Additional blocking / joists can be installed at 16” on center, maximum. However, consider installing blocking / joists at 12” on center for a more rigid feel.
Your Decking Masterpiece Needs a Frame
Choose whether you'll add a single, double, or triple picture frame border to your deck, then get the how-to.
Single Picture FrameDouble Picture FrameTriple Picture Frame
SINGLE PICTURE FRAME BLOCKING METHOD
Use 2" x 6" flat blocking to support the mitered corner.
DOUBLE PICTURE FRAME BLOCKING METHOD
Use 2" x 6" flat blocking to support the mitered corner.
TRIPLE PICTURE FRAME BLOCKING METHOD
Use 2" x 8" flat blocking to support the mitered corner.
Step 2: Cut Your Picture Frame Deck Boards
For cutting TimberTech capped composite or capped polymer deck boards, make sure to use an appropriate saw.
NOTE: Do not use cordless saws.
CUTTING TOOLS
TIPS FOR CUTTING PICTURE FRAME DECK BOARDS
- Use the proper saw and blade.
- Cut boards one at a time.
- Confirm that you're cutting at a 45-degree angle.
- Measure and cut your deck boards to length using a power miter saw or sliding compound power miter saw, depending on board width.

Step 5: Prolong the Aesthetics of Your Deck
While TimberTech capped composite and capped polymer decking is specifically engineered for enduring beauty, it's always wise to keep your backyard build free of dirt, debris, and spills. To maximize the aesthetics of your deck, we recommend using TimberTech® DeckCleaner™.
USE THE APPROPRIATE BRUSH
When cleaning your TimberTech AZEK decking with DeckCleaner, use a stiff, natural-fiber brush. When cleaning TimberTech PRO or EDGE decking with DeckCleaner, use a medium-to-stiff nylon brush.

5 Ways to Personalize Your Deck for a Custom Look
Summer is right around the corner, which means it’s time to start thinking about opening up our homes for those long, warm days and relaxed evenings outdoors. A well-designed deck creates a second living or dining area you’ll love spending time in with friends and family, plus it’s a great way to enhance the overall look of your yard.
Advances in decking design mean there are more options than ever in terms of board color, width and timber grain, which makes it easy to create a show-stopping outdoor area that suits your home and personal style. There’s plenty of room for creativity, and we spoke with decking expert Jessica Hagen of Cincinnati-based All Decked Out 513 to discover five ways you can customize your deck for a stunning, one-of-a-kind look.
Deck design by Simcoe Decks
1. Mix Wood Tones
Think standard brown and gray are your only options? Think again. Today’s composite decking comes in a huge array of colors and tones, including pale wood, soft grays, rich browns, dramatic slate and boards that have the look of exotic hardwoods. You’ll also find styles with a prominent wood grain effect, as well as those with minimal grain effect for a sleeker appearance.
One of the easiest and most effective ways to add impact to your deck is to vary the wood colors, an idea fast gaining traction among homeowners. “Growing numbers of our clients are mixing colors together — before it was two colors, but now it’s as many as three or four,” Hagen says. “Overall, the palettes are warm and earthy. The colors in the Deckorators Voyage line can be mixed together for endless different looks to make your deck unique and ensure that it stands apart from your neighbors’.”

For a vast choice of colors and grains, consider mineral-based composite decking. “It mimics the look of real wood to allow for natural-looking decking in a material that will last 50-plus years,” Hagen says. Unlike wood, it’s zero-maintenance and won’t absorb moisture, swell or contract, giving you a great-looking deck without the headaches.
When choosing decking colors, consider the tones and finishes in the adjoining living areas to create a sense of cohesion between indoors and out. You should also factor in the colors of your home’s facade, your outdoor furniture and landscaping. Just like indoor colors, you’ll find that outdoor decking falls into warm and cool tones. Warm tones such as rich brown have a cozy, classic feel, while cool tones such as pale gray create a more casual, contemporary vibe. When you’re combining different decking colors, it’s common to choose boards of the same tone.

2. Vary Your Plank Widths
For a subtle sense of interest, select decking in a single color and mix up the plank sizes. It’s a stylish and versatile look that works equally well on compact and spacious decks. “New 4-inch boards are more readily available now, which has opened up the design possibilities,” Hagen says. “A few of our recent projects have featured an 8-inch outside border with a 4-inch inside border and standard 6-inch decking in the main field. Another popular look for 2021 is using the same color in the main field but alternating two 6-inch boards and one 4-inch board.”
With a look such as this that places the attention underfoot, it’s a good idea to specify hidden fasteners. “This creates a really clean, uniform look to your deck,” Hagen says. It’s also wise to select mineral-based composite decking, which won’t expand or contract like other types of boards, so your mixed-width decking maintains its appearance whatever the weather throws at it.

3. Create an Eye-Catching Border
Make a statement by adding perimeter detailing to your deck. Use a single or double border to frame the entire deck, create eye-catching stair accents or define a favorite feature, such as a hot tub. The latest trends favor dark borders, which elegantly delineate deck edges and features. On this entry landing by All Decked Out 513, a crisp dark border frames the gray decking and elegantly ties in with the window and door trims used for the home, creating a cohesive look.

Installation tip: If you’re installing a deck border in an area where you plan to have a railing, specify wider board widths, such as 7¼ and 9¼ inches, to accommodate the railing installation.

4. Add a Unique Inlay
Looking to add decorative flair to your alfresco area or highlight a specific space? A deck inlay is a clever way to go about it. Crafted from a small section of boards in a color or pattern different than the main decking, an inlay creates the appearance of an outdoor rug, but since it’s built into your deck, there’s no chance of it slipping or being damaged by the weather.
You can use an inlay to visually break up a large deck or to carve out separate zones — one for dining and barbecuing, for example, another for relaxation, with a pair of comfortable sofas and a coffee table.
And feel free to think beyond decking. A feature inlay also allows you to get creative with other products, such as tiles, for a standout look, Hagen says. “We like to mix different materials, such as decking and stone, to create a simple yet unique design,” she says. In the deck inlay seen here, Hagen and her team used Deckorators Picture Frame Deck Board in Dark Slate for the main deck border and the dark inlay border, combined with Deckorators Voyage in Sierra and Tundra around a travertine feature tile.

5. Have Fun With Layouts
Try something new with patterned decking. Chevron and herringbone decking layouts are some of the most popular styles with both designers and homeowners at the moment. “It’s a fun, modern alternative to diagonal and horizontal decking and adds a real textural element to your outdoor area,” Hagen says.
Running the boards diagonally, rather than in the traditional horizontal layout, not only strengthens your deck but creates a more refined appearance. It’s also a good solution for smaller decks because it enhances the sense of space.

About purchaseWe have books, runes, oracles, divination cards, and lots of magical themed accessories like tablecloths, card pouches and more! How to choose the first tarot deck? Top Tips See options - Images should be related to the inner world of the tarot reader: for some, cards with cats seem the height of bad taste, while for others, such drawings help to easily get answers. Energy compatibility is important: If the inner “I” desperately opposes and does not give good, it is better to look for another deck. Looking at the cards, you will always feel a response to this or that picture in your soul. Follow the moment. If you accidentally went into our purchase - and suddenly felt an irresistible desire to acquire Tarot cards, then this is not accidental. You can't miss the chance. Such spontaneous acquisitions, inspired by the soul, are the most successful. The deck must be liked. For a beginner, this is especially critical: at first, not everyone has the desire to “tame” cards, so the absence of discomfort during work is important. About the company — Asphalting LLC
Our road company in Domodedovo has been operating since 2003, providing services of various sizes. We prioritize the quality of work and compliance with state standards, do not forget about maintaining low prices.
The two main services of Asphalting LLC are the construction of new facilities and the repair of existing ones. We have the necessary specialized equipment for the implementation of each type of work.
Construction of new facilities
Our road construction company has a wide fleet of vehicles with reliable and modern equipment, and thanks to the variety of machines we can work on objects of all types:
-
City roads . Roadways in the city are paved with the surrounding city layout.
-
Country roads . Their construction requires less "fine" calculations, but in most cases more materials per m2 are needed.
-
Yards . We equip new courtyards (in the territories of residential complexes and new buildings), as well as overhaul existing ones.
-
Parking lots . We build private and public parking lots, we implement complex projects for the construction of underground parking lots.
-
Public areas . First of all, these are areas in front of various infrastructure facilities: supermarkets, car services, office buildings, etc. Managed to take part in the works on the improvement of parks.
-
Private areas . We equip the territory of suburban housing: from large cottages to small summer cottages.
Construction is proceeding as planned. First, a project is drawn up with an estimate, which describes the technology of asphalting and a list of costs. Further, a "trough" is created in the soil, where the base layers are laid: sand, geotextile, crushed stone. In parallel, curbs and gutters are mounted, if necessary, sewer decks are equipped. Only after that, the surface is asphalted with the selected mixture.
Coating repair
We are equally attentive to the repair of existing asphalt pavements. Most often, we repair yards and roads, since these are the objects where the heaviest loads fall.
We distinguish 2 options for asphalt repair:
-
Overhaul . The coating is dismantled over the entire area, to a considerable depth or to the very foundation. Then bituminous emulsion is poured onto the remaining layer and new asphalt is laid.
-
Pothole repair . If the damage is localized, patching is performed. During such works, individual sections on the asphalt pavement are dismantled, and then filled with asphalt in compliance with the main structure.
In addition to the implementation of the main technology, we can replace the curbs, modernize the storm system, raise the wells to the top of the new layer, etc.
