    A bathroom in a country house is a separate issue that requires detailed study. Unlike an apartment, there is enough free space to implement even the most daring ideas. For the competent creation of an interior in such a bathroom, it is important to take into account the features of the room and other nuances, which we will discuss in this article.

    Designing a bathroom

    Like any other room before renovation, a bathroom in a private house requires careful design. The advantage of a private house is the fact that the owner himself has the right to determine the dimensions of the future bathroom space and, based on them, make a sketch of the interior.

    Usually in country estates are not limited to one bathroom. Their number can be calculated, but taking into account the following factors:

    • number of storeys of the house;
    • number of inhabitants;
    • the need to accommodate guests for a while.

    If the family is small, then one spacious bathroom will be enough, in which everything you need will fit. If the owners of the house often receive guests, then you will have to think about the equipment of the guest bathroom.

    As a rule, the bathroom is always located next to the bedroom. For convenience, it is equipped with two exits, one of which leads to the corridor, the second to the bedroom. For a house with several floors, you will have to consider having a bathroom on each of them for comfortable use and eliminating the search for this room throughout the house.

    The size of a bathroom always depends on the personal preferences of the owner of the house, but it cannot be less than the figures specified in the SNiP. The minimum dimensions of the bathroom: length - 0.8 m and depth - 1.2 m. When planning, it is worth considering the dimensions of the equipment that will be installed in such a bathroom.

    Large bathroom needs zoning. It can be carried out by installing partitions, screens, podiums, as well as visually different finishing materials and lighting design.

    Location of communications in the bathroom

    Various communications play an important role in the bathroom, for example, sewer pipes, wiring, water supply. The sources of water for the bathroom are various wells and wells, the water from which enters the house with the help of a pumping station. Both conventional household boilers and full-fledged boilers are responsible for heating water.

    Important! So that the design of the bathroom is not spoiled, all communications are hidden using installation or behind decorative overlays.

    Pipes are hidden under drywall, screed or recessed into the walls, and meters and connections must be on the surface, since they need free access. Electrical wires are laid in special, pre-prepared grooves in the walls and covered with mortar. You can lay them in the seams between the tiles and cover them with tile adhesive. Such installation will not only make the room aesthetically attractive, but also protect the wires from moisture, which is inevitable in the bathroom.

    Surface finishes

    In order for a bathroom interior to be complete, it is necessary to choose the right finishing material. In a country house, you can use different types of finishes, so we will present each separately.

    Wood

    Bathrooms made in chalet, Scandinavian, Provence or country style are processed with wood. At the same time, it is important to understand that only the material that has been impregnated with special compounds before installation can be used to avoid damage from moisture and temperature changes. Most often, lining, solid wood, timber, wooden decorative panels, laminate, and parquet boards are used to decorate surfaces in the bathroom.

    Modern moisture-resistant wood materials can imitate natural wood with a noble texture. For example, the walls and ceiling of the bathroom are covered with veneer, and the floor is laid out with parquet or laminate. This results in a unique eco-friendly design of the bathroom. Houses made of logs are unique buildings where the finish in the bathroom can be left in its original form. Only in this case, the tree is treated with antiseptic and moisture-resistant solutions. No less popular is the combined finish, when areas exposed to moisture are decorated with ceramic tiles.

    Tiles

    This is a traditional solution for bathrooms both in apartments and private houses. In this case, porcelain stoneware is used for the floor, it is convenient if it is equipped with grooves for water drainage.

    Important! Only unglazed tiles are selected for flooring so that the surface is not slippery.

    The walls, in turn, are covered with glazed material, which has a water-repellent layer. Thanks to the wide variety of tiles, you can create any bathroom design effortlessly.

    For a small bathroom, it is recommended to use only light shades diluted with bright inclusions. This design will visually increase the space. Mirror tiles have the same effect. Panels in the form of paintings made of ceramic tiles look original.

    Mosaic

    Mosaic will add originality to the design of a bathroom in a private house. Moreover, it can be not only ceramic, as many used to think, but also glass, metal and even stone.

    It is very convenient that now manufacturers offer ready-made elements made of tiles, so you don't even have to bother making an ornament out of small details. With the help of mosaic tiles in the bathroom of a private house, you can create not only simple geometric images, but also other pictures. It blends perfectly with conventional ceramic tiles, so this combination is often used in design.

    Marble

    For a private house, it is quite possible to afford to finish the bathroom walls with marble. Such a cladding, of course, looks impressive, but it is quite expensive, therefore it is available only to a limited number of owners of suburban real estate. For greater savings, marble in the bathroom can be combined with other types of finishes.

    Wallpaper

    Bathroom wallcoverings – a specific finish. Here we are talking, of course, not about paper, but about water-repellent and washable wallpaper. They are best used in combination with marble or tiles that are placed opposite the washbasin and bathtub.

    A universal option - wallpaper in a restrained range, pastel shades. If the furniture in the bathroom is light, then you can decorate the room with bright canvases. For especially original bathroom interiors, wallpapers with a 3D effect are suitable.

    Important! Decorating a bathroom with wallpaper is a non-trivial approach that will definitely surprise guests at home.

    Staining

    It would seem that this type of finish has long been outdated and it's time to forget it. But now there is a huge amount of a wide variety of paints and varnishes, with which you can easily decorate a bathroom and it will look modern. The only difficulty here is the need to level all surfaces before painting.

    Finishing the bathroom with paint allows you to realize any ideas. When choosing bathroom paint, it is imperative to give preference only to trusted companies that guarantee the high quality of their products.

    Bathroom furniture

    For this room in the house, it is important to choose not only beautiful furniture that best suits the style, but also functional combined with practicality. Furniture items should not be afraid of moisture, they should be easy to clean not only from dirt, but also from water stains.

    For a spacious bathroom you will need the following set of furniture:

    • vanity unit;
    • vertical storage box for everything you need;
    • hanging shelves in the right quantity;
    • chest of drawers;
    • mirror.

    If the bathroom of a private house means a relaxation area, then it usually contains an armchair or a comfortable chair and a coffee table. For a small bathroom, some of the listed items can be removed, it is important to leave only the essentials.

    Wooden bathroom furniture in a private house will emphasize the closeness to nature and environmental friendliness. Such furniture can be painted in any color, but designers recommend choosing those items that have a natural pattern and shade.

    Metal furniture, no matter how strange it may seem, will also be appropriate in the bathroom, but only if it organically fits into the overall design. Now they produce metal furniture, which can be used not only in modern directions, but also in any other, it is enough to beat it correctly.

    The glass surfaces of the furniture items are perfect for the bathroom, and it doesn't matter if the glass is frosted or transparent - this solution looks perfect. However, glass furniture is more difficult to care for, especially in the bathroom.

    Plastic furniture is the most practical bathroom furniture. Such products are not afraid of exposure to moisture and temperature changes, and it is also very easy to care for them. And the cost of such furniture is affordable. The main thing is to choose high-quality sets that will not look cheap against the background of the bathroom interior.

    Style orientation of the interior

    Any room, including a bathroom in a private house, must be made in a certain style. It is important that all elements of the interior harmonize with each other and support each other. Almost any style of interior can be done in the bathroom of a private house, as there are no restrictions here. We will consider the most popular of them.

    Classic

    This direction emphasizes the sophistication and presentability of the interior. A distinctive feature of such designs is versatility and being out of fashion. Even after many years, such a bathroom will look relevant. In the design, as a rule, preference is given to natural materials, emphasizing the status of the owner and the uniqueness of the premises.

    Fusion

    This style is designed to combine incongruous. For courageous individuals, it is perfect and will convey a positive mood. It is based on bright colors and original solutions. Fusion style involves a combination of different textures and materials, creating unique eye-catching combinations in the bathroom of a private house.

    Country

    Simple home style, which will be relevant for a wooden private house, where it is much easier to design a bathroom in this way. Despite its rustic nature, this style is very popular among the inhabitants of the metropolis for the calm atmosphere that it gives.

    Main materials for it: wood, forged metal and natural stone. As sanitary ware for the bathroom, brass elements are chosen to emphasize the design.

    Hi-tech

    A modern trend with high functionality. In such a bathroom, there is a place for glossy surfaces, an abundance of glass and metal. Plumbing is used only modern with many functions. Lighting is different, including outdoor.

    Loft

    A unique style suitable for those homes where the bathroom has a large room with high ceilings. Finishing here is minimal. If the house is brick or concrete, then in principle it may not exist, since it is brick and concrete that are the main elements that emphasize the industrial design.

    If you correctly design such a bathroom in a private house, then it is quite possible to get a stylish room at minimal cost.

    Provence

    A style characterized by slight negligence, which does not create a feeling of carelessness or old age of things and objects. Slightly cracked stucco, shabby furniture and simple textiles give the bathroom in a private house an atmosphere of romance, typical of the French province.

    Conclusion

    A bathroom in a private house is a space that allows even the most unique and original ideas to come true. Thanks to the freedom of choice, a variety of interior designs are created, depending on the wishes of the owner of the house.

    135 photos of examples of bathroom interiors in a country houseDecor and interior design

    Decor and interior design > Sitemap > Bathroom > Bathroom in a private house - stylish design and interesting design options (135 photos) If in terms of planning, building and laying communications, all bathrooms are equipped almost the same, and differ only in size, then the finish can be much more diverse.

    Let's consider various ways of decorating, a photo of a bathroom in a private house, current design ideas.

    Preparation for finishing

    Before finishing the room, it is necessary to carry out a set of preparatory work. You need to start with the insulation of the walls and floor. This will eliminate the appearance of condensate and its accompanying negative phenomena, such as mold and fungus. Also, insulation will ensure the comfort of taking water procedures in the winter.

    A bathroom in a private house is a room with high humidity. Therefore, finishing should be done only with moisture-resistant materials. Today their choice is quite large. Modern facing materials allow you to equip a comfortable and aesthetic room for receiving water procedures.

    Ceramic tile finishing

    The most demanded and actual bathroom finishing material is ceramic tile. It is distinguished by high moisture resistance, long service life, wear resistance and a wide choice of stylistic solutions.

    Properly selected ceramic tiles will allow you to implement a practical modern bathroom design in your home. Choose the color of the tiles based on the style in which you want to decorate the room.

    Matt tiles are highly recommended for flooring. It practically does not slip when wet, which is an important factor in terms of safety.

    Plastic panels

    If you want to save money, you should look at plastic panels. This is an inexpensive and easy-to-install material, characterized by good moisture resistance. However, plastic cannot be called an environmentally friendly material. Another disadvantage is low wear resistance.

    Often only the ceiling in the bathroom is covered with plastic. The floor and walls can be finished with tiles, and the ceiling with plastic. The fact is that finishing the ceiling with tiles is a very laborious work and creates a noticeable load on the floor, since the structure is quite heavy.

    Plastic panels are also available in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colors.

    Walls to be painted

    Walls may not be finished with special materials, but simply painted. To do this, the surface is pre-leveled, covered with a layer of plaster, primed, and then painted. You can use textured paint, which allows you to create original visual effects.

    Painting is a good solution for original designs. You can combine various shades. And for decoration, stencils with all kinds of patterns are used.

    It is important to use only moisture-resistant paint, because the room is very humid.

    The advantage of the solution lies in the ability to quickly update the design. To do this, simply repaint the walls, without the need to dismantle any finishing materials.

    Natural wood trim

    Natural wood in the bathroom looks very stylish and luxurious. This material will give an atmosphere of warmth and comfort. But, it is necessary to use special wood species that are resistant to moisture. And before installation, the material must be processed several times with special moisture protective agents.

    Natural wood trim is quite an expensive option. This solution is ideal for a classic interior. But, using a tree of the appropriate species, you can decorate the room in one of the modern styles.

    Are the walls in the bathroom covered with wallpaper?

    Wallpaper is also an affordable finishing material. But, you can use only moisture-resistant models, otherwise the finish will quickly become unusable.

    In areas where the walls are in direct contact with moisture (near the sink, bathtub, shower) do not glue the wallpaper. Even the highest quality moisture-resistant wallpaper will deteriorate after a while due to constant contact with water. In such areas, it is recommended to use other materials - tiles or plastic.

    Finishing the floor

    Before finishing the floor in the bathroom of a private house, it must be insulated and waterproofed. For insulation, you can use special materials with low thermal conductivity (polystyrene, mineral wool, etc.
