Home Decorating Ideas - Get Inspired By Living Spaces

Much like fashion, there is a rhyme and reason to interior design. With a bit of research, designing your very own living room will be an engaging experience as you take a bland room and give it your personal touch. There are a number of time honored trends in home décors you can use as style guides as well, which we have categorized and created collections for your convenience.

Coastal Furniture

You don’t have to live by the ocean to feel like you live by the beach. Coastal décor opens up your home décor using a toned-down palette of oceanic blues and sandy taupes to amplify the natural light coursing through thinly veiled windows. To achieve the cool, calm, easy, breezy feel of coastal décor, think sun-kissed and sea-worn furniture lightly accented with subtle cues to coastal living. Browse through Living Spaces’ collection of coastal furniture for decorating ideas.

Country Furniture

Country living is the antithesis to the trending Smart Home era. Warm earthy tones and milk painted finishes soften the seemingly bare bones complexion of country style furniture. Layer on the homespun calico fabrics and pick out a few wood-carved decorative accents to really give your home the country style feel you are trying to achieve. With the country style home décor, you want to pick furniture and accents that have character and seemingly get better with age.

Bohemian Furniture

Bohemian décor goes by a design ethos of everything in your home having its own story. It is for those who live life outside the box and revel in a wanderlust of textures and patterns from all over the world. Bohemian home décor borrows from the full spectrum of colors to accent various styled furniture. When brainstorming decorating ideas, think beyond function. Strive to make each room configuration a conversation piece.

Minimalist Furniture

Minimalism ― it is not so much a mindset of less being more as it is a commitment to ridding yourself of clutter. That means little to no layering, subtle to no textures, and most certainly no indulgence in vibrant colors. The raison d’etre of minimalist interior design is to create home décor that neither distracts nor detracts. It is a style that can be honed to place the spotlight solely on a particular piece of art or furniture in your every room. There is also the fact that minimalism is quite easy to clean and perfectly adaptable to small room décor. While browsing through Living Spaces’ collection of minimalist-inspired furniture, remember to take high contrast into consideration.

Rustic Furniture

Typified by reclaimed timber and repurposed furniture, rustic home décor showcases nature’s raw beauty rather than distances itself from it with neutral colors and clean lines. It embraces the organic while not necessarily resisting contemporary construction methods and materials. Sort through Living Spaces’ selection of artisanal furniture for rustic style decorating ideas.

Mid-Century Modern Furniture

Mid Century Modern originally came to prominence as an alternative to the ornate aesthetic that typified early 20th century interior design. It is now widely recognized as Retro, which draws most of its inspiration from the futuristic musings of the 60s. Stilted furniture with elongated features and clean lines, Mid Century Modern has a distinct look suited to even a small room décor.

Traditional Furniture

If you see your home as your castle, furnishing your home in the traditional style might be your motif. The ornamental nature of traditional furniture alone can give any room a palatial feel. With the proper configuration, a traditional home décor can even function as a sitting homage to various eras in history such as the Victorian or Tudor. Solid construction of earthy toned wood also gives traditional style home décor a warmer, homier setting.

5 sources of inspiration: where to look for interior design ideas

An interior is a living environment adapted to its occupant. Each element of the interior, be it the color of the walls, a sideboard or a rug in the bathroom, should please the eye, warm the soul and reflect the individuality of its owner. Competent interior design will allow you to squeeze a rich inner world into even the most limited footage and adapt any interior dreams to Russian realities.

To speed up the process of working on a project, an experienced interior designer will always ask you to show a few reference pictures that reflect your ideas about beautiful and comfortable. You can describe your wishes in words, but nowadays it’s easier to find a suitable picture on the Internet. To know exactly where to look for them, we have compiled for you a selection of online sources with the most inspiring interiors and hot trends from the design world.

Pinterest: a piggy bank of ideas

If you haven't heard of Pinterest, now is the time. Pinterest.Com is a social internet service and a unique cataloger of images from all over the world. Here you can easily find ready-made interior recipes from the most delicious ingredients.

How does it work? By registering on the site, the user can create his own board and "attach" any images to it. Photos (here they are called PIN) can be borrowed from the boards of other users and any virtual sites.

Keyword search allows you to find the category of images you are interested in in the cataloger and save the image you like on your board. And although the service is not focused exclusively on interiors, here you will find collections of interior design styles, decor ideas, designer furniture collections and everything your heart desires.

Create boards by category: one idea for a small kitchen, another for Scandinavian decor, and so on.

The most convenient: all registered Pinterest users, no matter what site they are on, hovering over the photo will see a red “save” button. One click and the visual you like is already on one of your Pinterest boards.

When working with an interior designer, you can send him links to your boards that contain all the interior and decorative solutions that you like on the Internet.

Instagram for every home

There is no need to tell what Instagram is like in 2017. In this social network, you can find many sensible sources on interior design. As an example, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with two top accounts.

Loft_like is a popular account dedicated to everyone's favorite loft style. Here you will find the most spectacular loft interiors, collected from around the world: industrial aesthetics, rough textures and daring design solutions. Some of this, you probably want to "try on" in your own interior.

Loft where everything is possible: radical eclecticism. __________ Subscribe to the best interior accounts @remont.design - modern interior @scandi_like - Scandinavian design __________ #armchair #decor #decor #Repair #interiors

Publication by LOFT design | LOFT interiors (@loft_like)

Scandi_like is a sister account for fans of light and practical Scandinavian style. Here you can definitely find a couple of apartment design ideas, even if we are talking about small-sized ones. Rational Scandinavian design, which allows you to competently organize the space, is a welcome guest in Russian apartments, where there are no extra square meters.

Scandinavian laconicism in contrast with the "rich" stucco and baroque chandelier. _______ Subscribe to the best interior accounts @remont.design - modern interior @loft_like - the best Loft projects ________ by Scandinavian style and interior design (@scandi_like)

By subscribing to several thematic accounts, every day you will be able to receive a fresh portion of ideas for the interior in your feed.

Сontemporist: you can't forbid living beautifully

The foreign portal contemporist.com is always a pleasant visual range and current interior trends. This portal is mainly devoted to suburban real estate, but here you can also find inspiring ideas for the interior of an apartment and original author's decor.

Many Mossebo customers are skeptical about foreign sites - the interiors presented on them seem unrealizable on the basis of a typical Russian apartment. They live well there - the ceilings are endless, the footage is crazy, and we have a two-room Khrushchev. In fact, even the most “Western” design can serve as a base and source of inspiration for the interior of a Russian apartment, if you find the right designer. His task is to adapt any interior fantasies to the conditions of Russian reality and the features of a residential facility. Whether it's a studio apartment, a murdered Khrushchev building or a country mansion - any footage will submit to a real interior designer.

Mossebo Vkontakte: all the best in one public

We immodestly recommend our own interior design public: vk. com/design_mossebo. For you, we collect the best ideas and the most “delicious” interior trends from around the Internet. In addition, in the Mossebo group you can always find publications of our design studio's own projects, which can also be used as references. Don't forget to save your favorite images to your Pinterest board.

Full versions of Mossebo projects with a detailed description of their creation are waiting for you in the portfolio on the site.

Interior Design: high interior fashion

On this English portal you will find the latest news from the world of interior design, high interior fashion and selections of current collections of European furniture. Perhaps it is here that a dream dressing table, a kitchen set from the wildest fantasies or a spectacular designer stool awaits you, without which life will lose its colors.

Unfortunately, not all Russian design studios will be able to place designer furniture in your interior, but you can always find a worthy analogue.

At Mossebo, we are ready to contact any supplier and get “that very stool” that fits seamlessly into the interior design.

Interior design according to your measurements

When choosing references for the future interior of your apartment, feel free to choose images that make your heart beat faster. Can't decide between a brutal loft and a relaxed Mediterranean interior? Do you want a bright Scandinavian living room, and your husband dreams of high-tech hi-tech? And then there's elegant vintage, charming shabby chic, cozy boho-inspired textiles, and a 12-year-old son dreaming of a full-length Spider-Man poster.

If your desires contradict each other, don't worry, even the most incompatible elements at first glance can form an elegant fusion composition if a professional takes over. An experienced designer will be able to take the best from each project and skillfully arrange the elements in the interior of the apartment.

6 ways to inspire creative people | by Alim Japar | Design tavern

Self-portrait by Japar.Studio

We are surrounded by man-made objects and products. Buildings, cars, paintings, clothes, smartphones, packaging, interiors, programs, airplanes, toys, billboards and a bunch of other things have been invented by man. He created, creates and will create. Inspiration helps to create it with enthusiasm and pleasure.

What is inspiration? How can a designer find it? I will explain in my own words. Let me tell you about inspiration. I will write the pros and cons for each of them.

I like Wikipedia's definition of inspiration.

“Inspiration is a special state of a person, which is characterized by high productivity, great upsurge and concentration of human forces. As an emotional concept, this state is a typical feature of creative activity.” It is creative, that is, design.

Inspiration comes in different ways. I divided them into several types. From beginner to professional. And so, let's go!

For designers who don't have enough experience or who are too lazy to look for ideas, Pinterest is here to help. It's a great resource for inspiration with millions of ready-made ideas and patterns. Take it - I don't want to. Good for beginners. Helps to gain observation (more details in article by Vladimir Ayuev) .

World Catalog of Ideas

Pros: Saves a lot of time. You can check if there is a similar idea.

Cons: Develops plagiarism. It prevents you from diving deeper into the idea. Get distracted and clutter your brain.

Designer bookshelf with useful information and samples of design work. Some designers used this method of inspiration before the advent of Pinterest. By reading books, the designer learns more and better the processes, knows the professional language and terms. A personal library is a great school for any designer.

Steve Jobs' home office. December 2004

Pros: Knowledge gained from books helps to better present your design.

Cons: Long process.

“Steal like an artist” defines exactly this type of inspiration. Resources Behance, Dribbble, Envato, Vimeo. You can both steal and come up with your own based on ready-made ideas. Sometimes, after watching beautiful projects, you get the feeling that you are a mediocre loser. It also helps develop mindfulness.

Pros: Many ready-made solutions for the designer. You can buy templates or order a service.

Cons: Develops copy-pasting. Imagination develops from ready-made templates.

By studying art, a designer actively develops the right hemisphere, which helps to look at things outside the box. Real artists see the world differently. They know the basics of drawing, they have many years of practice. They draw for themselves, they create for real. By visiting museums and exhibitions of artists, you are more immersed in art. An artist friend is a great generator of ideas and advice.

The artist Pablo Picasso in his studio, Villa California, Cannes 1956

Pros: Develops right-brain imagination. Helps to see the world around you differently.

Cons: Art is hard to translate into graphic design.

"The best master is nature" said Rembrandt. It contains millions of combinations of colors and shapes. Sunsets over the sea, northern lights, mountain peaks, the eye of an insect - all these are masterpieces created by nature. True artists are inspired by her. Studying nature develops professional imagination. Under the microscope, you can see fantastic pictures. Science programs about the planet earth NatGeo, Discovery, Nature and YouTube videos about flora and fauna help to study nature without leaving home.

Eye of a wasp under a microscope

Pros: Develops a unique imagination.
