Depending on what kind of floors you have and the debris you encounter, having the right vacuum for the job is crucial to keeping your space clean. The best option for your needs might vary depending on your specific needs. If you have staircases or bare floors, you may want to consider canister vacuums for their portability and range. If you live in a carpeted home, an upright vacuum can help pick up debris and hair on high-pile textiles. Lightweight stick/handheld vacuums are also a good choice if you need your vacuum to be highly maneuverable.
We've tested over 130 vacuums, and below are our recommendations for the best vacuum cleaners you can buy. If you're looking for more vacuums, check out our recommendations for the best lightweight vacuums, the best cordless vacuums, and the best bagless vacuums.

The best vacuum cleaner we've tested is the Dyson V15 Detect. This high-end stick vacuum is remarkably potent, delivering similar debris pickup performance to many corded models. However, it has the advantage of being remarkably easy to deploy and maneuver. It's capable of automatically modulating its suction power depending on the surface that it's on and features a dirt sensor to count and measure the size of particles being sucked into the vacuum. However, it feels somewhat fragile, which is disappointing for a vacuum at this price point, and it has a relatively basic floorhead with no height adjustment or brushroll off switch, meaning it can get stuck on thicker carpeting pretty often.
Consider the Samsung Bespoke Jet if you're looking for something sturdier. It has a uniquely-designed standup charging rack that doubles as a self-emptying base station for its dustbin, making it easier and more hygienic to dispose of debris. However, its bulkier floorhead makes it more of a hassle to maneuver than the Dyson, and it isn't capable of automatically adjusting its suction power.

The Samsung Jet 75 is a great option if you want a mid-priced vacuum that can handle a variety of messes. While it doesn't have the Dyson V15 Detect's automatic power adjustment capability or piezo dirt sensor, it does offer similarly strong debris pickup performance on both bare floors and carpeting at a considerably more affordable price. It's mostly due to its powerful 200AW suction motor, which is remarkably potent for a vacuum at this price point. Unlike the Dyson, it's also fully compatible with a self-emptying base station, which sucks debris from the vacuum's dustbin into a disposable dirtbag with the press of a button. That said, this accessory is rather expensive, and buying it with the vacuum does push it into a higher price bracket.
Most variants of the Jet 75 come with two batteries, doubling its overall runtime and making it a great option for longer cleaning sessions as long as you keep both packs charged. If you're hung up on the Samsung vacuum's lack of an automatic power adjustment feature but aren't willing to spend that much more, the Tineco PURE ONE S11 is worth a look. That said, it has a less powerful suction motor and doesn't last as long on a charge.

If you're looking to save some money on a vacuum cleaner, the Wyze Cordless Vacuum is a good option. Build quality isn't especially robust compared to the pricier Samsung Jet 75, and it struggles more with bulky debris, which can clog its narrow suction inlet. However, even when pitted against more expensive alternatives, it does a fantastic job handling pet hair and lightweight debris on most surfaces. It also has a remarkably lightweight cordless design, making it easy to clean almost any part of your home. It boasts a rare-for-its-price HEPA filter, so it's reasonably effective in trapping allergens like pet dander.
However, you can't tweak its brushroll height or keep it from spinning, so it can get caught on thicker rugs. If its poor performance in regards to clearing away bulky debris is a serious problem, you could also consider the Tineco PURE ONE X, though it doesn't do as well when drawing away debris embedded deep within carpet fibers.

If you aren't convinced by cordless vacuums and value all-out performance, it's hard to go wrong with the Miele Complete C3. This bagged canister vacuum isn't as easy to deploy as a comparably-priced cordless model like the Dyson V15 Detect. However, it delivers even better performance across a range of surfaces and feels much better built. It's also packed with an array of convenience features, like a seven-level power adjustment function, a self-winding power cord, and an onboard storage compartment for its trio of included attachments. It uses self-sealing dirtbags and an allergen-sealed construction, making it a great choice if you suffer from allergies.
Unfortunately, it uses somewhat small dirtbags, resulting in somewhat high recurring costs, and has a power cord on the shorter end of the scale. You could also consider the SEBO Airbelt D4 if those are concerns, as it uses bigger dirtbags and longer-lasting filters. However, its bulkier design makes it less maneuverable than the Miele.

Check out the Miele Classic C1 if you're looking for a mid-range corded vacuum. It's cheaper than the Miele Complete C3 and delivers similar overall debris-pickup performance, as it uses the same powerful 1200 W suction motor. However, its plastic body isn't as sturdily built and lacks the latter's onboard tool storage compartment, though there is a tool clip that you can mount at the base of its hose. Still, it's highly maneuverable, thanks to its relatively compact size. User maintenance is also remarkably simple and hygienic, with easily-accessible self-sealing dirtbags.
However, the entry-level Pure Suction variant of the C1 only comes with a straight-suction floorhead and is best suited for bare floors and low-pile carpets. As such, you'll want to upgrade to a pricier variant with an electrosocket and a powerhead, like the C1 Cat & Dog, if you have dense carpeting in your home. If you prefer using a stick vacuum, the Shark APEX UpLight is another good corded option that takes up less room while not in use and weighs less, though it's more demanding in terms of maintenance and doesn't feel nearly as sturdy.

The Eureka Mighty Mite is a fantastic choice if you're looking for something corded and budget-friendly. Compared to a mid-range model like the Miele Classic C1, it doesn't feel nearly as well-built and lacks convenience features like a self-winding power cable or a tool clip. However, it delivers superb performance on bare floors and sucks up an impressive amount of debris on carpet, even with a simple straight-suction floorhead. Still, if you plan on cleaning a lot of dense carpeting on a budget, go for an upright with a height-adjustable powerhead for improved surface agitation, like the BISSELL PowerForce Helix. That said, the BISSELL takes up a lot more room, isn't nearly as easy to maneuver, especially in cramped environments, and feels even less sturdy.
On the plus side, the Eureka is also very compact and easy to maintain. However, it has a pretty short power cable, so you'll probably have to swap outlets when cleaning bigger areas.

Notable Mentions
- NaceCare HVR 200 Henry: The NaceCare HVR 200 Henry is a bagged canister vacuum that feels very well-built and has a longer range than the Miele Classic C1, but it isn't as effective on carpeted floors. See our review
- Samsung Jet 90 Complete: The Samsung Jet 90 Complete is a cordless stick/upright/handheld vacuum that represents a viable alternative to the Dyson V15 Detect if you want something marginally cheaper. However, it lacks the Dyson vacuum's automatic power adjustment feature, and the significantly cheaper Samsung Jet 75 has the same 200AW motor. See our review
- Airsign HEPA Vacuum: The Airsign HEPA Vacuum is a great alternative to the Miele Classic C1. You can buy it with a subscription package that ships a four-pack of biodegradable dustbags and a new filter to your door every six months. However, it feels less well-built than the Miele and has a shorter power cord. See our review
- Samsung Jet 70: The Samsung Jet 70 is very similar to the Samsung Jet 75, albeit with a less powerful 150AW motor and a shorter battery life. Still, it's worth a look if you don't want to spend quite as much. See our review
- Shark Vertex Pro Powered Lift-Away: The Shark Vertex Pro Powered Lift-Away is a cordless upright with a larger dirt compartment than the Samsung Jet 75. However, it isn't as maneuverable and has a shorter runtime. See our review

If you don't want to deal with the hassle of replacing a dirtbag in your vacuum, there's no shortage of bagless options on the market. Unlike bagged models, these vacuums have plastic dirt compartments and use filters to prevent dusty air from drifting back into the environment as you clean. They usually have low or virtually no recurring costs, depending on whether or not they use disposable filters. That said, they can vary significantly in shape and size, all for the sake of being better suited for different kinds of cleaning tasks.
We've tested over 130 vacuum cleaners, and below are our recommendations for the best vacuums that don't use a dirtbag. We selected these picks on their performance and their design, ease of maintenance, and price. For more, see our lists of the best vacuums and the best cordless vacuums. If you're looking for a robot vacuum, which is usually bagless by design, you can see our picks for the best robot vacuums.

The best bagless vacuum cleaner we've tested is the Dyson V15 Detect. This cordless stick vacuum delivers superb performance on a wide variety of surfaces, easily cleaning pet hair as well as small and large debris on everything from linoleum to high-pile carpet, though its strong suction force can cause it to drag around some lighter rugs. Its surface detection system enables it to automatically change its suction power depending on what you're vacuuming. It also has a built-in particle sensor that counts and measures debris you're sucking up, which is handy if you want to know about the presence of fine allergens in your home.
This vacuum can run for up to 70 minutes, but you need to work fast when vacuuming stubborn messes, as it only lasts for about 10 minutes when using it in its high-power 'Boost' mode. It doesn't feel especially robust, which is a disappointment for a vacuum at this price point. Look at the Samsung Bespoke Jet if you don't mind sacrificing maneuverability for superior build quality.

If you prefer using a corded vacuum with a greater debris capacity, the Dyson Ball Animal 3 is the best bagless upright vacuum we've tested. It isn't nearly as easy to deploy as a stick vacuum like the Dyson V15 Detect, but it's a better option for heavy-duty cleanups. Its powerful suction motor helps it clear away debris across a wide variety of surfaces. Its floorhead also features three levels of surface adjustment as well as built-in plastic fins to capture long hair before it can get tangled in its brushroll. You can clean hard-to-reach areas by decoupling its hose from its body and using any of its attachments, including a miniature turbo brush, a telescopic wand, and even a dedicated pet grooming tool. Its five-stage filtration system helps trap allergens too.
Unfortunately, this is a heavy, bulky vacuum that's something of a hassle to set up. It's pretty loud by the standards of less powerful cordless vacuums, and while its power cord is plenty long, you have to wind it back up manually. If you're looking for an upright vacuum that's a little easier to deploy, look at the Shark Vertex Pro Powered Lift-Away. It uses a simpler floorhead than the Dyson, with no height adjustment, and has a maximum battery life of about 40 minutes when used as an upright. However, its lighter cordless design could make it a better option for short cleaning sessions on hard surfaces.

The best bagless vacuum in the mid-range price bracket that we've tested is the Miele Triflex HX1. With a maximum runtime of a little over 30 minutes, it has a much shorter battery life than the Dyson V15 Detect and a smaller dustbin. However, it's also notably cheaper, delivers strong overall debris-pickup performance, and feels much better built, with a body made from dense, high-grade plastic. While it doesn't exert quite as much suction force through its floorhead, that also makes it much easier to push around on thick carpeting. Its surface detection system can adjust the speed of the brushroll depending on the floor type you're cleaning or even stop its rotation if it gets tangled in something.
Depending on how you arrange its motor unit, wand, and floorhead, it can be used as an upright, stick, or handheld vacuum, giving you a ton of flexibility for different cleaning jobs. However, it is a little on the heavy side for a vacuum of this type, and if you're looking for something a little more portable, the Dyson V12 Detect Slim is worth a look. The Dyson does an incredible job of cleaning bare floors, though it has an even smaller dirt compartment and feels a little more fragile.

Look at the Samsung Jet 75 if you're looking for something a little cheaper. It's less sturdily built than the Miele Triflex HX1 and doesn't have an automatic power adjustment feature, but there are a few advantages aside from its lower price. Its 200AW suction motor is remarkably potent for a vacuum at this price point and helps it exert a greater suction force than the Miele at its floorhead, resulting in better deep-cleaning performance. It delivers fantastic performance on bare floors and clears away an impressive amount of debris on high-pile carpet. It also has a longer battery life, with a single battery offering about an hour of runtime. Mid-range and high-end variants come with two batteries, making them a great fit for longer cleaning sessions.
It's a good option for pet owners, as it's highly effective in cleaning pet hair from a variety of surfaces and features a five-stage filtration system to trap allergens like pet dander. Still, if you want a similarly-priced alternative with automatic power adjustment, check out the Tineco PURE ONE S11, but be aware that it has a less powerful suction motor and a shorter battery life.

If you're on a budget and searching for a bagless vacuum, it's hard to go wrong with the Wyze Cordless Vacuum. This cordless stick vacuum isn't quite as potent as the Samsung Jet 75 and feels considerably flimsier than the Miele Triflex HX1. If neither of those factors are of significant concern, the Wyze offers a lot of bang for the buck. It does an excellent job of cleaning low and high-pile carpet and is highly effective in dealing with lightweight debris on bare floors. Its maximum battery life of nearly an hour is also quite long. Unusually for a vacuum in this price bracket, it comes with a HEPA filter to minimize the spread of allergens as you clean. Its plastic construction feels somewhat flimsy, but it also makes it very easy to lift and carry or maneuver in cluttered areas.
If you still aren't convinced by cordless vacuums and prefer using canister vacuums, look at the Eureka Whirlwind Bagless Canister. It delivers strong performance, especially given its low purchase price, and its corded design ensures you won't need to worry about running out of charge part way through a cleaning session. Its power cord is very short, so you'll need to swap outlets or use an extension cord when cleaning even moderately large spaces.

Atvel G9. Photo: market.yandex.ruThe wireless model from the American company Grand Stone demonstrates an innovative approach to cleaning. The vacuum cleaner itself is able to determine the type of surface and select the appropriate suction power. This eliminates the need for the user to switch modes and saves battery power. Despite the high power, the device can be used for an hour without recharging.
The vacuum cleaner has two unique features: 1) 6-stage cleaning system, consisting of cyclones and two HEPA filters at once, which provides a record air filtration rate of 99.996%. 2) Patented nozzle with two rotating brushes, which simultaneously effectively removes large and small debris, as well as combing wool and hair from carpets. Thus, high efficiency of cleaning various contaminants and deep cleaning (air up to allergens) is achieved.

1. Atvel F16
Atvel F16. Photo: market.yandex.ruThe manufacturers of this model tried to do everything to ensure that the cleaning of the premises was not only of high quality, but also fast.
The vacuum cleaner performs dry and wet cleaning at the same time, at the same time at a professional level. Unlike many similar devices, this device does not just rub moisture over the surface, but it washes the floor with a rotating roller, squeezing dirty water into a special container. In addition, the vacuum cleaner is able to collect not only dry garbage, but also spilled liquids, as well as any “wet” pollution - coffee, broken eggs, baby food. The model is completely wireless, suitable for washing any coatings, incl. carpets and parquet, humidifies the air and is equipped with a self-cleaning function. The HEPA class 12 filter prevents even the smallest dust particles from remaining indoors.
Thanks to its wet cleaning and high air filtration, the model is perfect for allergy sufferers, while the cordless format, suction of liquids and self-cleaning make the F16 a convenient and versatile assistant for every day.

Despite its high price, it removes 99% of airborne allergens, has an A+ energy efficiency rating and is completely silent.
Another feature is the automatic electric brush, which starts an intelligent floor type recognition system as soon as the user turns on the vacuum cleaner.
Pros and cons
Excellent cleaning of carpets and hard floors, amazing space design

3. Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute
Dyson Cyclone V10 Absolute. Photo: market.yandex.ru The cordless V10 Absolute is one of the best vacuum cleaners Dyson has ever made. Revised cyclone technology produces more suction power than ever (new V10 digital motor is 20% more powerful than the previous V8).
The Cyclone V10 has a more energy efficient battery than previous models. True, at the highest setting, the battery runs out in about five minutes.
Pros and cons
Wireless, works great on any surface
4. Miele SKCR3 Blizzard CX1 Excellence
Miele SKCR3 Blizzard CX1 Excellence. Photo: market.yandex.ruAttractive features of this device include wireless on/off controls, variable power and self-cleaning filters. True, the Blizzard CX1 isn't great with pet hair, and it's also too big and heavy to carry up stairs. But overall it's an extremely effective vacuum cleaner for everything from tiled kitchens to carpets and curtains.
Pros and cons
Great performance on any surface, virtually silent
Quite large
5. Dyson V8 Absolute
Dyson V8 Absolute. Photo: market.yandex.ru The Dyson V8 Absolute is the gold standard for cordless vacuum cleaners. Unfortunately, it is sold at a high price. But at the same time it is in another league!
Larger battery means double run time - up to 40 minutes with non-working cleaning heads and about 30 minutes with motorized cleaning heads. This is more than enough for regular cleanings.
When it comes to cleaning, the V8 outperforms many mains powered devices while remaining incredibly light and easy to use.
Pros and cons

One of the features is a huge 9 liter bag. This means you don't need to empty it often. The device works equally well on all surfaces.
Our only major warning is that at 8.5 kilos it is quite heavy, making it a poor choice for anyone with back problems.
Pros and cons

The movable handle with three degrees of freedom allows easy and comfortable cleaning in a range of 360°. Container volume is 33% larger than previous Dyson Cinetic cylindrical vacuum cleaners.
The device's long tube makes it easy to reach hard-to-reach places. It increases to 125 centimeters for cleaning in hard-to-reach places. And 28 cyclones arranged in two rows generate powerful centrifugal force to collect more microscopic dust and allergens, directing them into the container.
Pros and cons
Ease of use, quiet
No power adjustment

The design of the appliance includes LED illumination of the work surface, which makes cleaning easier. The ComfortTwister swivel mechanism guarantees high maneuverability of the device. The volume of the dust collector is six liters, which ensures long-term trouble-free operation of the equipment.

How to choose a vacuum cleaner
Choosing a vacuum cleaner is a very responsible matter. When buying, you need to be guided by several parameters: do you suffer from allergies, do you have pets and what level of energy efficiency does the device have. "KP" gives advice to customers in the form of a small memo on choosing a vacuum cleaner.
Maneuverability
When choosing, consider whether you can easily control, pull and lift the vacuum cleaner. If possible, check the operation of the device on different surfaces - carpets, hard floors and others. A number of problems are often found in the process: rebalancing on vertical machines, lack of flexibility, heads sticking on hard floors due to poorly designed cleaning heads.
Surface
Look for a vacuum cleaner with a nozzle that matches the type of floor in your home. Carpets - Turbopump with rotating brush to help you remove dust and dirt. Wooden or tiled floors - washing and with gentle cleaning modes for such coatings.
Filter
The filter is another important thing to consider when buying a vacuum cleaner. Ideally, it should have a HEPA filter that will ensure that even the smallest particles of dust and microorganisms are removed.
Ease
Ease of use is another important factor to consider when it comes to buying a great vacuum cleaner. You don't have to "struggle" with the device every time, it has to do its job easily, be ergonomic, efficient and safe.
Area
Be aware of the area to be covered with the rosary and the surface to be cleaned.
If the area to be cleaned is large enough, then it would be better to purchase a vacuum device with a large cord and a long handle. This will help you easily reach the whole area and you will also be able to move comfortably with the vacuum cleaner.
rating top 12 according to KP
In the mass consciousness there is a stable stereotype: the more powerful the vacuum cleaner, the better it is. In fact, there is no direct relationship between these parameters. In addition, when talking about power, 2 concepts are often confused: rated power consumption and suction power. It is the second parameter that determines the quality of cleaning. But manufacturers most often indicate only the rated power. They can be understood: the suction power will depend on the type of surface and other parameters, it is simply impossible to give an absolute value.
Let's try to objectively look at the current range and choose the best powerful vacuum cleaners suitable for home use.

How to choose a powerful vacuum cleaner
Questions are answered by Maxim Sokolov, an expert at the online hypermarket VseInstrumenty.ru .
— High power household vacuum cleaners are necessary for owners of a large apartment or cottage with a garage and utility rooms. The powerful technique is also used when caring for carpets and upholstered furniture. This issue is especially relevant for pet owners, when it can be difficult to remove hair from the floor, sofas and armchairs. Low-power vacuum cleaners have little suction power and are not able to effectively cope with such tasks.
In addition to household cleaning, powerful household vacuum cleaners are often used in hotels, offices and cafes. They perform their function of maintaining cleanliness perfectly in public places.
Which vacuum cleaners are considered powerful?
For the domestic segment, we can conditionally assume that models from 1000 W are powerful. The upper power value can reach 2600W. They have a high suction power, as the vacuum exceeds 250 mbar. The higher the vacuum, the heavier debris can be sucked up by the vacuum cleaner. They are characterized by high performance in terms of intake air - from 50 l / s.
What are the advantages of powerful models?
- Effective cleaning of smooth and fluffy surfaces, care of home textiles.
- Vacuuming heavy debris, dried mud, animal hair, grains and loose food.
- Fast processing of large areas without the need to repeat the same area.
