How to pick the best turkey roasting pan

It's not that finding a turkey roasting pan is difficult, the issue is finding one that's worthwhile and lives up to your expectation. Finding the 'best' model boils down to nothing more than what your specific needs are and will be.

For instance, if you are hosting a larger-sized family fathering over the holidays, you'll want to consider the thickness of the roasting pan's walls and the height of its handles. This ensures that you can maintain a firm grip when putting the turkey in and taking it out of the oven.

What size turkey roasting pan do I need?

What type of turkey roasting pan is best?

The most important factor when selecting the best turkey roasting pan is finding the proper type of material. Most roasting pans are made of copper or stainless steel. These materials are durable and remain light enough to get the turkey in-and-out of the oven.

Our top pick is made of carbon steel, which is oven-safe to high temperatures and resembles cast iron with its seasoned exterior to bake in flavor.

You probably remember that the traditional Thanksgiving dish in the United States is turkey. A large, appetizing and ruddy bird lies on the table and is considered a real highlight of the holiday! But the behind the scenes of its preparation always remains behind the scenes: how to cook a turkey, what spices, spices and seasonings to add to it to make it incredibly tasty? Find out more in our roundup of the best turkey seasonings and spices. nine0003

Spices for turkey

In general, turkey is very nutritious and dietary. It has only 200 kcal per 100 grams. Therefore, nutritionists and adherents of proper nutrition actively recommend eating turkey. But like chicken, turkey does not have a strong taste, so it needs to be seasoned, adding bright flavors to the meat. So what spices and spices are suitable for a turkey?

Delicious seasoning that perfectly combines spices for turkey. You can order seasoning "Juicy turkey" and cook for your pleasure with it. It is great for casseroles, salads, and turkey soups.

Cook with a novelty from "Aidigo" - smoked garlic!

Light spicy taste and smoky aroma.

It is necessary to emphasize the taste of the bird correctly and depending on the method of preparation. If you are roasting a turkey and want a crispy skin and tender meat, we recommend soaking the bird in a vegetable oil and spice marinade: black pepper , white and allspice , turmeric , basil , savory . Curry mix is also great.

For roasting a turkey in the oven: nutmeg , cinnamon , cloves , paprika , coriander , black pepper, ginger and garlic In some countries, Khmeli-Suneli is added, as well as the aforementioned Curry. If the turkey is wild, then use spices that are brighter and sharper in aroma and taste: thyme , rosemary , marjoram . It will also be useful tarragon .

If you boil a turkey, then black or allspice, thyme , rosemary will perfectly decorate the taste of meat and help make the broth incredibly fragrant.

seasonings for turkey

Aidigo has special seasonings for chicken that are perfect for turkey and any other poultry. You can cook a spicy turkey with chili and ginger with our seasoning, or you can try Chicken Tobacco seasoning for turkey - it will turn out no worse than with chicken. As we have said, rosemary and garlic are great for turkey, so the seasoning "ruddy chicken" is perfect for other poultry. For lovers of spicy poultry meat, we offer Spicy Chicken seasoning. nine0003

On salt, along with our "Delicious ideas" "Chicken on salt" you can try to cook a turkey. The meat will turn out not at all salty, but tender and with Italian flavor. In the collection of "Delicious Ideas" there is also "Juicy Chicken in Garlic Sauce". Seasoning is also suitable for turkey.

Let's dive in! I polled you guys on Instagram and you almost unanimously said YES, you want my turkey recipe! So there it is, and I'll detail this post with step-by-step tips and a couple of photo collages to ensure the best roast turkey you've ever had. How to defrost Turkey:

The best way to defrost a turkey is to plan ahead. You will need to plan for 1 pound of turkey per person you are serving. So, buy your turkey accordingly and then follow that timeline. I can tell you that it took 5 full days in my fridge to thaw a 20lb turkey.

How long do you cook a turkey?

The general rule is to cook a turkey for 15-20 minutes per pound. This may vary depending on whether your turkey is stuffed or not, or your oven temperature, because they differ. The main thing to remember is that you will need a meat thermometer on hand and you can find one at any grocery store. DO NOT trust a thermometer that "appears" on a turkey and has been added by the manufacturer. To test my recipe, I made a 20lb turkey and it took exactly 4 hours in my oven. Below is a helpful cook time table based on USDA turkey safety guidelines. **Turkey MUST reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit before consumption. nine0003

How do I keep my turkey moist?

The first secret of a super raw and juicy turkey is BUTTERFLY! We used two and a half sticks of butter for this recipe (based on a 14-22 lb. turkey). The oil is full of herbs stuffed under the skin of the bird and is also rubbed all over. It keeps everything incredibly tasty too. The next step is slow cooking at 325 degrees, if you cook the turkey too fast it will be dry. Also cover with aluminum foil! This helps keep the turkey moist and prevents the skin from quickly cooking and drying out. Another important trick is to let the turkey reach room temperature! An hour before cooking, you'll take the turkey out of the fridge, leave it in its wrapper, and let it sit for an hour (yes, it's perfectly safe). nine0003

How to Make a Roast Turkey:

I've included two sets of process shots here below each set of numbered steps so you can get a visual picture and follow along. Before I start, I always take my turkey out of the package, and all the vegetable oil and ingredients to put in the cavity, it makes everything go well and fast.

  1. First things first, make your own herbal oil. You want your butter to be very smooth. It's even good to even microwave it for softening until it melts completely. Add a mixture of garlic, salt, pepper, lemon juice, thyme, rosemary and sage to the oil. I like to use fresh herbs, but dried ones are good too. nine0152
  2. You need to make sure it is mixed very well so that the herbs are evenly distributed. You can use a spatula, a fork, or sometimes I find it easier to mix it with my hands.
  3. Now place your turkey on the large baking sheet. This will help collect juices that are running low. Dry it! Pat it completely dry and hollow with paper towels. We remove excess moisture because we want to burn the skin, if it does not dry out it will basically smoke turkey and the skin will be raw. nine0152
  4. Season the turkey generously with salt and pepper! Yes, we will be using herbal oil, but go ahead and season the inside and outside of the turkey well. We do this for an extra layer of seasoning because turkey doesn't have much flavor.

Roast Turkey Continuation:

  1. Now carefully use your fingers to lift the turkey skin off the breast meat. I start with one hand, and then when the skin loosens, I can put both hands in there to continue to fully extend. Be careful and patient not to tear the skin. As long as your turkey is thawing properly, it's a very simple and fairly quick process! nine0152
  2. Fill with herbal oil! It will use about 1/3 of the cavity mix, so save it. Then use half of the mixture under the skin, lifting the skin and filling in small handfuls.
  3. Once the oil is under the skin, massage the oil under the skin with your hands to make it as even as possible.
  4. Now rub the remaining oil (in addition to the one reserved for the cavity) all over the turkey, chest, wings and legs. Rub the cut oil into the cavity and season with chopped lemon, garlic heads, quarter onions and herbs. It seasons the inside of the turkey, so don't miss it! nine0152

Let the roast turkey rest!

It's also good to plan here. Once the turkey is out of the oven, cover it with aluminum foil and let it cool for 20-30 minutes before cutting it open. This is a good time to make a sauce or toss any last-minute dish into the oven. If you cut your turkey right away, your turkey will be incredibly dry because all the juices will spill out. So don't skip this rest step, it's just as important! nine0003
