            A good cordless vacuum is a helpful addition to any household cleaning arsenal. When you don't need to worry about staying in range of an outlet, it's easy to clean small, out-of-the-way areas not only inside your home but also in tighter spaces like car interiors. You also don't have to worry about a power cord getting snagged on a piece of furniture and bringing a frustrating pause to your cleaning session. However, despite recent strides in extending overall battery life, a cordless vacuum still can't offer the worry-free indefinite runtime of a corded vacuum. For many, however, this trade-off is worth the near-infinite range that these appliances have.

            We've tested over 130 vacuum cleaners, and below are our recommendations for the best cordless vacuums to buy. We selected these picks based on their performance on different surface types and their feature set, battery life, and price. For more options, look at our lists of the best vacuums, our best cordless stick vacuums, and the best vacuums for high-pile carpet.

              The Dyson V15 Detect is the best cordless vacuum cleaner we've tested. This cordless stick vacuum can easily handle pet hair as well as fine and large debris on both low- and high-pile carpets, though its strong suction force can cause it to drag around some lighter rugs. It can automatically adjust its suction power depending on the surfaces you're cleaning. There's also an onboard dirt sensor that counts and measures debris being sucked into the vacuum, meaning you can keep tabs on allergen concentration in your home. It has many attachments, like a miniature turbo brush, a combination upholstery tool/soft bristle brush, and even a secondary floorhead with a laser light to help you see fine debris on bare floors.

              If you're looking for a better-built alternative, the Samsung Bespoke Jet is worth a look. This premium stick vacuum comes with a standup charging dock that doubles as a self-emptying base station; when docked, debris from the vacuum's dustbin is sucked into a dirtbag inside the base station, so you don't need to worry about creating a plume of dust when emptying it. However, its dual brushroll floorhead makes it more of a hassle to maneuver, and it lacks the Dyson vacuum's self-adjusting suction power capability.

              If you're shopping at an upper mid-range price point and don't need the Dyson V15 Detect's automatic power adjustment capability or particle sensor, consider the Samsung Jet 90 Complete. Performance on flat surfaces is fantastic, and it also does a very good job of dealing with debris on carpeted surfaces with its bristled Turbo Action floorhead. The vacuum's lightweight construction makes it easy to maneuver in cluttered areas, and its five-stage filtration system is very effective when sealing fine debris. You can expect a maximum battery life of almost an hour in its most energy-efficient mode, but its high-power 'MAX' mode can drain its battery in as little as 10 minutes. It also only comes with a single battery, even though its rack station has enough room to charge two batteries at once.

              If you want a vacuum with two batteries, the LG CordZero A9 Ultimate is a suitable option, though you can charge only one battery at a time. The LG does an outstanding job cleaning bare floors and delivers good performance on low-pile carpets, but it isn't as effective as the Samsung on high-pile carpets. Looking for something lighter? Consider the Dyson V12 Detect Slim, though be aware that its less potent suction motor results in inferior performance on carpeted floors.

              The Tineco PURE ONE S11 is a great option if you're looking on the affordable end of things but aren't willing to sacrifice versatility. Unusually for a vacuum in this price range, it has a built-in dirt sensor that lets it automatically increase its suction power when cleaning areas with a high concentration of debris and also has a HEPA filter that does a good job of sealing in allergens. Performance on bare floors is fantastic, though it has a harder time dealing with debris embedded in low-pile carpet. Unfortunately, its relatively affordable purchase price is reflected in its inferior battery performance to the Samsung Jet 90 Complete, as it can only run for a maximum of about 40 minutes.

              If you want a mid-priced cordless vacuum that does a better job of handling debris on carpeted floors, the Samsung Jet 60 Pet is a fantastic alternative, though it lacks the Tineco's self-adjusting suction power capability and doesn't do as well on bare floors.

              The best budget cordless vacuum we've tested is the Wyze Cordless Vacuum. While it feels considerably less durable than the Tineco PURE ONE S11 and lacks its automatic power adjustment feature, it's cheaper and produces a similarly strong real-world suction force, so it does a good job clearing debris from crevices. It performs impressively well on carpets, cleans up pet hair very well, and does a good job on bare floors, though bulky material can get stuck at the entry to its dustbin. Unlike many other budget-friendly vacuums, it has a HEPA filter to trap fine particles as you clean, which is great if you suffer from allergies. It supplies a maximum of one hour of runtime in its most energy-efficient 'ECO' mode, though its runtime drops to a little over 10 minutes if you run it in its high-power 'TURBO' mode.

              If you're looking for a budget-friendly cordless vacuum that struggles less with bulky debris, you could consider the Tineco PURE ONE X Tango, which has a longer battery life and charges much faster. However, it doesn't perform as well on carpeted floors and has a smaller dustbin.

              If you value the dirt compartment capacity that comes with an upright vacuum but still want to stay cordless, the Shark Cordless Vertex Pro Powered Lift-Away is a very good option. Compared to a similarly-priced cordless stick vacuum like the Tineco PURE ONE S11, it exchanges maneuverability for a larger internal dustbin that won't need emptying as often and longer battery life. Besides, it's still more maneuverable and easier to store than the average corded upright. Like most of Shark's upright vacuums, its 'Lift-Away' design enables you to pick up and carry its canister body separately from its floorhead, making it easier to clean hard-to-reach areas. It comes with some attachments, including an upholstery tool that's remarkably well-suited for dealing with pet hair on fabric surfaces. This vacuum delivers strong performance, with no significant loss in capability as its dustbin fills up.

              Unfortunately, while it does offer two different levels of surface adjustment, these settings only affect the speed of its brushrolls, not their height, so the vacuum can sometimes get stuck on dense shag-pile carpeting. Need to go even lighter? The Hoover ONEPWR Evolve Pet is another cordless upright worth considering. However, it feels considerably less robust and offers terrible air filtration performance.

            Notable Mentions

            • Shark Vertex Pro: The Shark Vertex Pro is a cordless stick vacuum that represents a good alternative to the Samsung Jet 90 Complete, thanks to its longer battery life and flexible wand. However, it's notably heavier and doesn't perform as well on carpets. See our review
            • JASHEN V16: The JASHEN V16 is a relatively affordable cordless stick vacuum with two swappable brushrolls: one for bare floors and one for carpets. Unfortunately, compared to the similarly-priced Wyze Cordless Vacuum, it struggles with bulky debris like cereal, which can clog the entry to its dirt compartment. See our review
            • Miele Triflex HX1: The Miele Triflex HX1 is a good alternative to the Samsung Jet 90 Complete if you want something better built. It also has an automatic brushroll off switch that helps reduce the risk of getting tangled on rug tassels or shag-pile carpeting. However, it has a much shorter battery life and a smaller dustbin. See our review
            • Samsung Jet 70 Pet: The Samsung Jet 70 Pet has a lot in common with the cheaper Samsung Jet 60 Pet, as it uses the same 150AW motor and 1800 mAh battery but comes bundled with a more effective multi-surface floorhead. Its strong performance on carpet makes it a good alternative to the Tineco PURE ONE S11, but it lacks the Tineco vacuum's self-adjusting power feature and is slightly heavier. It's also worth noting that this vacuum's availability is far more sporadic than either the Jet 60 or Tineco vacuums. See our review

                        Cordless stick vacuums are helpful tools when you need something lightweight and portable. Since they don't have a power cord, you don't have to worry about range or managing the cable when you finish cleaning. They're also easier to carry up and down stairs or into different rooms than traditional upright or canister vacuums. Some people may even prefer how they feel in hand, as they can be lighter to maneuver around the room. That said, they come with disadvantages related to their battery performance. If you don't mind the charge time or their short active battery life, they can be a suitable addition to any home.

                        We've tested over 130 vacuum cleaners, and below are our recommendations for the best stick vacuums with a cordless design to buy. These picks were selected not only on their performance on different surfaces but also their feature set, battery life, and price. The Dyson V15 Detect is the best cordless stick vacuum we've tested. It delivers superb overall performance on bare floors and low and high-pile carpets, though its strong suction force can make it hard to push around on some rugs. It can automatically adjust its suction power depending on the surface type you're cleaning. It also has a dirt sensor that measures and counts the size of debris sucked into the vacuum, which will be helpful if you want to know about the presence of fine particles in your home. While this vacuum supplies upwards of 70 minutes of battery life in its most energy-efficient mode, its runtime drops to a little under 10 minutes when using it in its 'Boost' mode. It also feels fragile in places, which is disappointing for a vacuum at this price point.

                          Want something better built? Check out the Miele Triflex HX1. It has a unique design that allows you to use it as a stick, handheld, or cordless vacuum, but it doesn't last as long on a charge and has a smaller dustbin.

                          If you don't need the Dyson V15 Detect's particle sensor or automatic power adjustment capability, the Samsung Jet 90 Complete is worth a look. It comes with two floorheads, one for carpets that uses a bristled brushroll and another with a fluffy brushroll for improved debris pickup on bare floors and in shallow crevices. Its five-stage filtration system helps capture fine allergens. You can also buy a dedicated mopping floorhead to help clear away stains like caked-on mud or dirt on bare floors. Battery performance is decent, with a maximum battery life of roughly one hour when using it in its most energy-efficient mode. However, you can drain its battery in as little as 10 minutes when used continuously in its high-power 'MAX' mode, and it only comes with a single battery pack.

                          If you're looking for something even lighter, the Dyson V12 Detect Slim is a solid alternative. It's even easier to maneuver and uses a similar surface detection system to the Dyson V15 Detect. It can increase its suction power on carpet and also changes power modes when it identifies areas with high concentrations of debris. That said, it has a tiny dustbin that needs emptying very often, and it isn't compatible with a mopping attachment.

                          If you're looking for something on the more affordable end of things, the Tineco PURE ONE S11 is a great choice. This cordless stick vacuum has a less powerful suction motor than premium options like the Dyson V15 Detect and Samsung Jet 90 Complete, so it isn't as well-suited to deep-cleaning thicker carpeting. If that isn't a big issue, it's worth considering. Its lightweight construction makes it a cinch to maneuver in cluttered areas. Unusually for a vacuum in this price range, it features a built-in dirt sensor that allows it to raise its suction power when it encounters an area with a lot of debris. You can also pair the vacuum with your smartphone through the Tineco Life app, which lets you adjust its suction power with a virtual slider, check its charge, or verify if its filters need cleaning.

                          This vacuum has a HEPA filter, which is great if you're sensitive to fine allergens, and it doesn't make too much noise while running. There are also quite a few attachments in the box, like a pair of floorheads, one with a soft roller for bare floors and the other with bristles for carpeting. Unfortunately, it takes quite a while to recharge. If that's a problem, the Shark Rocket Pet Pro with MultiFlex IZ163H is a good alternative, though it is noticeably heavier.

                          The best budget-friendly cordless stick vacuum we've tested is the Wyze Cordless Vacuum. It might not have the Tineco PURE ONE S11's built-in dirt sensor, but it delivers excellent overall performance on carpet at a lower price. It does a very good job on bare floors, though very bulky debris can get caught at the entry to its dustbin. Unusually for a vacuum at this price point, it offers HEPA filtration and has an LED touchscreen display that lets you change its suction power mode or monitor its battery life. You can easily reconfigure it into a handheld vacuum to help clear debris in tight corners. It also comes with a combination upholstery tool/soft-bristle dusting brush and a crevice tool. No turbo brush is in the box, but you can purchase this attachment from the manufacturer.

                          If you're looking for a budget-friendly cordless stick vacuum with a turbo brush included in the box, you could also look at the Tineco PURE ONE X Tango. Not only does it feature an additional attachment, but it also doesn't struggle with bulky debris and charges faster while offering a longer battery life. However, it's harder to maneuver, has a smaller dirt compartment, and has more parts that need regular cleaning.

                          If you're looking for a cordless stick vacuum that's lightweight and easy to carry around, the Dyson Omni-glide is worth a look. Unlike traditional stick vacuums like the Tineco PURE ONE S11, it's only meant for relatively short cleaning sessions due to its tiny dirt compartment and short maximum battery life of a little under half an hour. Furthermore, its twin soft-roller floorhead is only meant for cleaning bare floors. However, it's exceedingly lightweight, and its uniquely-designed floorhead makes it easy to maneuver it in tight spaces.

                          While you can't use it on carpets or rugs, this vacuum does a great job dealing with small debris and pet hair on bare floors and is reasonably effective when sealing in fine allergens. Be careful when cleaning up bulky debris, which can get trapped at its suction inlet.

                          If you're looking for a cordless stick vacuum that's a good fit for those who suffer from allergies, consider the Roborock H7. It might feel considerably less durable than the comparably-priced Samsung Jet 90 Complete and delivers inferior deep cleaning performance, but it does offer a unique advantage. Unlike the Samsung vacuum or many other cordless stick models, you can mount a miniature dirtbag within its dirt compartment, resulting in improved air filtration performance and a much cleaner means of debris disposal. It can also run for more than 90 minutes in its most energy-efficient mode, which gives you plenty of time to deal with lightweight debris. While its runtime drops to a little over 10 minutes in its high-power 'MAX' mode, that's normal for a vacuum of this type.

                          It also delivers impressive performance on bare floors and does a decent job on carpets. That said, it doesn't perform quite as well as the Samsung Bespoke Jet, which is also a fantastic option if you suffer from allergies. You can't configure the Samsung as a bagged vacuum, but it does come with a 'Clean Station' accessory that empties its dustbin when the vacuum is docked without generating a plume of dust. However, it's also bulkier and much more expensive than the Roborock.

                        How to choose a cordless vacuum cleaner - a ranking of the best Bissell models for the home

                        When can a cordless vacuum cleaner come in handy?

                        Previously, battery-powered upright vacuum cleaners had less suction power than their corded counterparts. Now the situation has changed. Modern manufacturers from America and Europe have achieved comparable power and efficiency parameters for vacuum cleaners. Therefore, more and more often the question arises - which vacuum cleaner is better wired or wireless?

                        Each type of home vacuum cleaner, whether it works independently from the mains or can vacuum without wires, has its own strengths and weaknesses. Wired ones are more familiar, do not require charging, but are very bulky and not very maneuverable. Cordless vacuum cleaners are very mobile, light and manageable. They can reach into any corner and under furniture. They are easy to carry and easy to store. You have to pay for this with slightly less engine power, and hence suction power.

                        Due to slightly reduced power, wireless models were more often bought as an additional cleaning device for the house. Less often they were taken as the main instrument for a small studio or one-room apartment. Now a cordless vacuum cleaner shows high efficiency if:

                        • you live in a private house;
                        • you clean regularly because of the presence of small children at home;
                        • you or family members are allergic to dust, wool or other household allergens;
                        • there are animals at home;
                        • there is very little time left for cleaning, so using a conventional vacuum cleaner is labor-intensive and inconvenient.

                        Types of cordless vacuum cleaners

                        The main advantage of the battery vacuum cleaner is its mobile design. They are battery operated and do not use any wires. Models of vacuum cleaners differ from each other. There are 2 main types of wireless units: manual and vertical.

                        Manual

                        Have a compact size. Designed to solve local cleaning tasks. They can collect crumbs, remove dust from books and collect animal hair, and clean the upholstery of car seats. A full-scale cleaning of the floor with such a vacuum cleaner will not work, but this is not his task.

                        Hand-held units have low suction power and need to be recharged regularly. However, they are light in weight and do not burden the brush during cleaning. They are easy to carry to the place of cleaning or transported in a car.

                        Vertical

                        Such devices are just the main competitor to conventional vacuum cleaners. We will dwell on them in more detail.

                        The design of this appliance is somewhat similar to a mop. It has a long handle and a brush at the end. Main advantages:

                        • light weight: most models weigh about 5 kg;
                        • good maneuverability: the design is easy to control;
                        • small dimensions: the device has a vertical structure, takes up very little space, especially when compared with traditional corded vacuum cleaners with a bag;
                        • large set of functions: many models have a design that can be used in two versions: a full-fledged vacuum cleaner and a detachable hand unit. It is suitable for quick and easy cleaning of local dirt.

                        To obtain such characteristics of an upright vacuum cleaner, several indicators had to be sacrificed, which caused such shortcomings in some models: not all devices cope;

                      2. short run time: one cleaning time, which the battery is designed for, will not exceed one hour, after which it needs to be charged again;
                      3. small dust container: it is impossible to install a large dust container, so when cleaning a large amount of dirt (a lot of wool, a lot of spilled products), you will have to empty the container in a timely manner.
                      4. There are 2 opposing opinions about the use of upright vacuums: some users believe that cordless models are better for keeping order, but a full cleaning can only be done with a corded vacuum cleaner with high power. Others find that cordless vacuum cleaners can handle difficult cleaning tasks just fine. They are lighter and more maneuverable, they are more convenient to store.

                        Reality is somewhere between these opinions. If you live in a large house with carpets, carpet, laminate, or other floor coverings, you can't do without a powerful vacuum cleaner. There are already modern wireless models, for example, the BISSELL 2765N CrossWave Cordless Max cordless washing vacuum cleaner. It is able to work up to 30 minutes and clean up to 100m 2 . This is the size of a spacious apartment, townhouse or small house. At the same time, the vacuum cleaner has high power and, due to its universal brush, does an excellent job with both smooth floors and carpets. And its main advantage: it simultaneously washes, cleans and dries the surface. That is, you will spend 3 times less time on cleaning, and the efficiency will be maximum. Instead of a dust collector, this vacuum cleaner has a water filter. As a result of the work, dust is sucked in and driven through the water, where dust and debris settle, and the air is additionally cleaned through a fine air filter. With such a vacuum cleaner, you can easily clean the floor not only from dust, but also from wool, larger particles of dirt, immediately wash the floor and freshen the air.

                        If you have a small apartment, a simpler wireless machine will suffice, such as the BISSELL 2602D ICON pet for dry cleaning or the BISSELL 2582N CrossWave Cordless for dry and wet cleaning at the same time.

                        How to choose the best upright cordless vacuum cleaner?

                        Now let's talk about the important parameters by which you need to choose a good vacuum cleaner.

                        Modes and controls

                        In addition to dry cleaning, there are models of vacuum cleaners that allow you to do wet cleaning, for example, the BISSELL 2582N CrossWave Cordless cordless washing vacuum cleaner. It is one of the best cordless upright vacuum cleaners in the world. At the same time, it collects garbage, by pressing 1 button on the handle it supplies water with detergent to the roller, washes the coating and immediately dries it. Cleaning has never been so fast.

                        To facilitate cleaning in dark corners or hard-to-reach areas, the nozzle is sometimes supplemented with LED lighting. With it, you can be sure of high-quality cleaning of the entire area of \u200b\u200bthe house.

                        Choose models that have at least 2 operating modes: classic and turbo. The first is used for cleaning smooth surfaces, the second - for carpets, because. suction power increases.

                        The control unit in cordless vacuum cleaners is usually located on the handle. This is convenient because you can switch with one hand. In simple models, everything works on buttons, and in complex and expensive vacuum cleaners, touch controls can be built in.

                        It would be an advantage if a self-cleaning function is provided.

                        The operating parameters and status of the vacuum cleaner are indicated by notifications on the display or indicators. The minimum required parameters for convenience in general:

                        • enable status;
                        • the level of fullness of the container and the need to clean it;
                        • the remaining charge of the vacuum cleaner;
                        • the need to replace the filter.

                        The vacuum cleaner is a complex electrical technique, so safety is important. Most vacuum cleaners have an auto-off function in case of overheating.

                        Equipment

                        Many vacuum cleaners are equipped with a removable unit. It is a detachable mini vacuum cleaner. In addition to it, devices can be equipped with:

                        • electric brush;
                        • turbo brush;
                        • narrow crevice nozzle for cleaning hard-to-reach places;
                        • furniture brush;
                        • parquet nozzle.

                        Most models come with a special wall mount that allows them to be hung on the wall. In this state, the vacuum cleaner is easy to recharge and takes up less space. However, its fixed position will be required and damage to the wall is possible.

                        Therefore, wireless models such as the BISSELL CrossWave series have been developed to be able to stand and charge on a dedicated mobile base anywhere.

                        To make storage more convenient, some models have a folding handle. This makes the vacuum cleaner more compact.

                        Dust collector and filters

                        All wireless gadgets have a cyclone container. It is technologically advanced and easy to use, easy to clean.

                        A special funnel is formed inside the container, in which particles of dust and dirt are filtered out. There can be several cameras operating on this principle, which improves filtering. Even small particles of debris do not pass through such a system. There is also a pre-motor filter that protects the vacuum cleaner motor from dirt getting into it. Also, sometimes an additional HEPA cleaning filter (hepa-filter) is installed, which traps the smallest particles of dirt.

                        We recommend considering models in which the container can be emptied without having to touch the dusty and dirty elements.

                        When choosing a vacuum cleaner for cleaning the house, you need to pay attention to the volume of the dust container (dust collector). It can hold 0.3-0.8L. Large storage facilities are convenient because they need to be cleaned less often. However, they increase the weight and dimensions of the device.

                        Power and noise

                        The most important issue that concerns users is the power of a cordless vacuum cleaner. In simple devices, it starts at 500 watts. In portable is 30-150 watts.

                        Low power results in the following benefits: energy is saved and battery consumption is reduced. But how does this affect performance?

                        Although these vacuum cleaners have little power, they do their job well. This is mainly achieved thanks to the special shape of the brush: rotating, it picks up the debris and directs it into the dust bag. A cordless vacuum cleaner can be just as efficient as a corded one. The noise level during operation is also about the same - 70-80 dB.

                        Battery

                        Built-in batteries are available in two types.

                        1. Nickel-cadmium - cheap, but have a "memory effect". To ensure that their capacity does not fall over time, such batteries must be discharged to a minimum each time and charged to 100% after cleaning.

                        2. Lithium Ion - more expensive, but their capacity and efficiency remain the same throughout their life.

                        Battery life depends on battery capacity. On average, the battery life is enough for 15-60 minutes of continuous battery life. The parameters often indicate the period of operation at a minimum load, so pay attention to these numbers. It usually takes 3-8 hours to charge the battery.

                        Output

                        If you need to choose a vacuum cleaner for cleaning an apartment, but light, compact and powerful, take a modern cordless vacuum cleaner. You can look in the direction of washing vacuum cleaners, but the usual model will do its job very well.

                        When choosing a cordless vacuum cleaner for home cleaning, you should be guided by several points:

                        • suction power and dust container capacity of a vacuum cleaner are key parameters for choosing the best vacuum cleaner;
                        • if you live in a large apartment or house, you should choose a vacuum cleaner that can work as long as possible without recharging;
