Smith tells us that in 2023, we’ll see decorators using paint in interesting ways to define areas, like paint as a headboard that can be changed with the season.
"People are looking for innate calmness and tranquility, particularly in a bedroom,” she says. “Paint does this in a natural way.’ Designer Anastasia Casey also predicts uses of color that we haven’t seen before. “Layered, saturated, and monochromatic color will be big—think 8 shades of olive, all slightly off from each other," Casey shares.
Cristina Lehman of C. Lehman Home agrees, too, noting that these choices will all lead to a change in bedroom ambiance. “I think we'll start seeing more moodier, darker colors in bedrooms. People will be more willing to try out darker paint on the walls, darker bedding, or darker curtains.”

“During the past few years, people were so focused on cozying up their bedrooms that much of what was bought was spur-of-the-moment and not necessarily quality-made,” Kristina Phillips of Kristina Phillips Interior Design tells us. “I believe that 2023 will be an opportunity to take a more customized and curated approach to the overall look and feel of the bedroom.
" When it comes to quality versus quantity, designers are opting for high-quality, thoughtful decor all the way. Phillips says that when it comes to how people implement this, it will all come down to finding inspiration.
“Unique items, big and small, that are inspired by favorite hotel or Airbnb stays will be the priority,” she says. “Adorn the wall with photographs from a recent trip to Greece that you finally properly framed. Take inspiration from the color palette to determine a new rug or bed linens so the room feels fresh.”

We like to stick to a neutral palette that allows our customers to change out smaller items like throws and pillows to stay on trend.
" Casey agrees. “I think we’ll be seeing way more patterns introduced in the bedroom," she says. "I think linen will still rule the world, but I’m excited to see brands pushing more plaids, stripes, and florals out on their linen products."
