A Peek at Tyler Perry’s $100 Million Mansion

Tyler Perry remains a force in Hollywood. Perry writes, produces, and directs mostly all of his projects, even starring in many of them. In recent years, he’s been showing off the fruits of his labor. Recently, images and videos of the external landscape of Perry’s $100 million mansion in Georgia resurfaced online.

Tyler Perry has been building the $100 million mansion for a few years

Perry has reportedly been working on the estate for a few years. From the looks of a social media video from a birds-eye view of the property, it appears that the front and back of the property is empty land, seemingly with no pool yet at the time the video was taken.  He purchased the 856 acres in 2013.

It was later revealed that Perry has been building the 35,000 square-foot mansion and expanded the property to be situated on 1,200 acres. The home is set to feature 8 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. Additionally, the remodel includes a large lap pool, a private runway for his private plane, and a massive property entrance, as The Jasmine Brand reports.

Perry’s mansion is a declaration that anything is possible with hard work and consistency. He was once homeless as he perfected his craft and chased his dream of being a content creator. Now, there are streets named after him.

He recently made history as the first Black studio owner

Outside of his personal treats from his success, Perry continues to be fruitful in business. In 2018, he announced that he’d purchased new land to build a studio outside of Atlanta. The studio would be used for all original productions and allow for others to rent the space to do the same.

The 330-acre Tyler Perry Studios has spacious grounds and state-of-the-art production facilities and is the largest entertainment studio in the country, bigger than Disney, Warner Bros, and Paramount combined.

With the studio, Perry made history as the first Black person to own a film studio outright. In an interview with the LA Times, he spoke about his favorite part of the studio: 12 soundstages named after groundbreaking African-American entertainers, which include Oprah Winfrey, Denzel Washington, and Whoopi Goldberg.

The Madea staple spoke passionately about the significance of his new studio when accepting the Ultimate Icon Award at the 2019 BET Awards, saying:

The studio was once a Confederate Army Base, and I want you to hear this, which meant that there were Confederate soldiers on that base, plotting and planning on how to keep 3. 9 million negros enslaved. Now that land is owned by one negro.

The media mogul is also a billionaire

With his own studio, films, stage plays, television studios, and everything else in between, Perry has been declared a billionaire. In April 2021, Forbes estimated his net worth to be right at $1 billion. The difference between Perry and many other creators is that Perry owns all his content, which is an extensive collection dating back to the 1990s.

Being poised between the mansions and poverty "became my metaphor for life," he said.

In 2005, Perry reportedly paid $9 million (£7.6m) for a properrty on the Chattahoochee River that reportedly once belonged to segregationist Moreton Rolleston, proprietor of a motel which refused to serve African-Americans. Tearing down the building, Perry spent three years building this palatial pad atop its impressive 17 acreage.
