32 Coastal Bathroom Ideas Anyone Can Pull Off

Pure Salt Interiors

No coastal interior is complete without a decked-out coastal bathroom. Bathrooms may not be the first thing you see when you step foot in a home, but it’s tucked-away places like these that bring your home’s aesthetic together.

What’s nice? Coastal style is sleek, recognizable, and clearly defined, so crafting a coastal bathroom shouldn’t be all that difficult. Stick to beach-inspired colors, optimize for breezy vibes, and sneak in little luxuries that’ll turn your bathroom into a getaway.

With a little care and creativity, you can design a coastal bathroom that feels like its own vacation destination, and the following coastal bathroom ideas will show you exactly how to pull that off.

01 of 32

Pure Salt Interiors

Coastal design is known for its iconic beachy palette, so set the scene with a few seaside colors. Stock up on oceany blues, sandy beiges, and crisp seafoam whites. And if you’re craving a pop of color, a sunny yellow or a playful orange should do.

Pure Salt Interiors

A coastal interior should make you feel like you’re at the beach, so look for ways to let the outdoors in. Maximize the sunlight streaming through your windows by trading curtains for flexible blinds, and capture some of that classic ocean breeze by leaving your windows propped open whenever you can.

Cathie Hong Interiors

Hoping to design a coastal bathroom that isn’t terribly on-the-nose? Use beach-inspired prints to get you there. Look for wallpaper lined with ocean-inspired waves or sand-inspired flecks. Or snag something that reminds you of classically beachy plants, like pampas grass or palm trees.

Pure Salt Interiors

Accent walls make a fun addition to any space—your shower, included. And when it comes to coastal design, you have all kinds of accent wall options. You can line one shower wall with printed titles, or you can stick to a punchy color. Either way, you’re in for something eye-catching.

Becca Interiors

Coastal design is inherently pretty fun—it is inspired by the beach, after alll—so get playful with your design choices. Take a risk on some printed wallpaper in a classic coastal color, and don’t be afraid to get kitschy. As long as you love looking at the print you’ve picked, the wallpaper is sure to look great in your space.

Pure Salt Interiors

Towels are a necessity in any bathroom. And when chosen thoughtfully, they can also double as décor. So snag a set in a classic coastal print, like nautical stripes, and turn your well-stocked towel rack into an accent piece.

“Earthy” may not be the first word that comes to mind when you envision a coastal bathroom. But, beaches are full of organic materials worth using in your space. Pair woven baskets with a textured stone sink, and layer in wood accents that nod to your local boardwalk.

08 of 32

Pure Salt Interiors

One particularly easy way to make your bathroom feel more coastal? Stock up on beachy photographs. Sure, the decorative accent is a little obvious. But it’s a classic for a reason: It will immediately transport you and your houseguests to the beach.

09 of 32

Devon Grace Interiors

There are lots of ways to have fun with your backsplash. And since coastal style welcomes pops of personality, take advantage of the opportunity to get playful. Snag backsplash tiles in a bold print or a vibrant color, or lay out your tiles in a surprising design.

10 of 32

Katie Martinez Design

Capture coastal design’s classically breezy feel by painting your walls white. This simple choice should leave your bathroom feeling bright and airy—and it should give you the sleek backdrop you need to play with vibrant colors and beachy textures.

11 of 32

Pure Salt Interiors

Structural beams may seem like an accent fit for a farmhouse—not a beach house. But if your beams are distressed enough to look like driftwood, they’ll evoke visions of the sea. Consider leaving the wood beams in your bathroom exposed.

12 of 32

Jessica Nelson Design

Flower-filled vases put the finishing touches on any space. But since you’re crafting a coastal bathroom, consider trading garden-picked flowers for a beachier plant, like pampas grass.

Looking for a way to add flexibility to your bathroom? Snag a bath stool. The shower-friendly stools are perfect for seating, storage, and more. And if you score a particularly rustic option—one that resembles driftwood—you’ll end up with an accent that ties your beachy space together.

No coastal space is complete without a few woven accents. So ground your floors with a jute rug, store your essentials in seagrass baskets, or swap your bathroom light fixtures for rattan-lined pendants.

15 of 32

Cathie Hong Interiors

Remember that your bathroom walls aren’t the only thing worth dressing up. If you’ve decided to keep it simple with white walls and a white tile backsplash, consider adding a pop of coastal color to your bathroom cabinets.

16 of 32

Pure Salt Interiors

Every bathroom deserves a solid organization system. And if you want a storage set-up that can double as décor, consider stocking up on small woven baskets that you can stack, place on your shelves, or tuck inside your drawers.

17 of 32

Design: Mindy Gayer Design, Photo: Vanessa Lentine

Commit to your décor scheme by ditching your basic bathroom lights and replacing them with classically nautical fixtures. Cage sconces look like the kind of thing you’d find by a dimly lit dock—and they’re sure to make your space feel beachier.

18 of 32

Jessica Nelson Design

Bathroom floors can get incredibly cold and slick—offering your toes a rude awakening the moment you step out of the shower or bathtub. So treat yourself (and your feet) to a cozier atmosphere with a printed bath mat or a waterproof woven rug.

19 of 32

Pure Salt Interiors

Your coastal bathroom can tolerate as much—or as little—kitsch as you’re in the mood for. So feel free to sprinkle in a couple tongue-in-cheek accents, like a letter board that playfully reminds your guests to brush and floss.

20 of 32

White Sands

Wood accents are available in a range of different shades—some dark and rich, some warm and bright, and some light and subtle. And though you can probably pull off just about any wood tone in your space, consider keeping your coastal palette crisp and sticking with a sandier stain.

21 of 32

Pure Salt Interiors

A bathroom chandelier may seem entirely out of place in a coastal interior. But snag a fixture made from textured wooden beads, and you’ll end up with something that doesn’t just suit your beachy bathroom—but that actually brings it together.

22 of 32

Leclair Decor

From the grainy sand to the smooth shells to the dappled water, beaches are absolutely packed with texture. And by mimicking these layered textures—through printed wallpaper, woven rugs, and plants—you can craft a bathroom that feels decidedly coastal, even if you forgo the classic blue-and-white palette.

23 of 32

Design: Mindy Gayer Design, Photo: Vanessa Lentine

The best coastal spaces make you feel connected to nature even when there’s no beach in sight, so stock up on greenery, and bring the outdoors to you. Obviously, featuring beachy plants is the easiest way to capture some seaside ambiance. But even less traditional plants can feel beachy when surrounded by classic coastal colors.

Nautical accents are a surefire way to make your bathroom feel more coastal. And if you want to keep things from veering too on-the-nose, you can always stick with a referential rope mirror—rather than a wall-mounted anchor, ship wheel, or oar.

25 of 32

Tyler Karu

Neutrals hold any palette together, giving you the flexibility you need to play with brighter shades. And though you can’t really go wrong with a neutral, keep the focus on warmer, beachier options—like sandy beiges, stone grays, and cloudy whites.

26 of 32

Cathie Hong Interiors

If you have the wherewithal to renovate your floors, consider springing for an eye-catching option. Snag a printed tile, and cover your floors with it. The choice will be decidedly bathroom-appropriate—and it’ll add some welcome fun to your coastal decor scheme.

27 of 32

Design: Mindy Gayer Design, Photo: Vanessa Lentine

Choosing window treatments for a coastal bathroom can be tough. On the one hand, you want something that’ll let in plenty of light. On the other, you want something that’ll give you the privacy to bathe in peace. Woven blinds strike this balance masterfully. The textured pick should give you the flexibility to adjust your ambiance on the fly—and it should fit right into your coastal decor scheme.

28 of 32

Design: Mindy Gayer Design, Photo: Lane Dittoe

Coastal interiors should feel warm and welcoming, so look for places to make laidback choices. Could you trade a neat-and-tidy towel rack for more casual towel hooks? Little touches, like these, can give your bathroom the by-the-beach feel you’re looking for.

29 of 32

Pure Salt Interiors

Being playful isn’t just about snagging the kitschiest décor you can find—it’s about making surprising choices that’ll put a smile on your face every time you see them. So line the back of your shelves with printed wallpaper, or tuck pretty rocks next to your vases and towels.

30 of 32

Design: Mindy Gayer Design, Photo: Vanessa Lentine

Coastal spaces are often bright and white-filled, but there’s nothing wrong with adding a little contrast—so sprinkle in a couple of bold accents. A thoughtfully chosen charcoal countertop will bring out the white paint on your vanity, and a  few matte black drawer pulls will, too.

31 of 32

Pure Salt Interiors

Coastal interiors naturally have a sense of place. But if you want that sense of place to be more specific than “beachy,” add touches that are specific to your particular locale. Hang photos of nearby places, feature locally made pieces, and snag plants you can only find in your part of town.

32 of 32

Pure Salt Interiors

Bring your bathroom together with a few finishing touches that’ll make you feel like you’re at a 5-star hotel. Adorn your sink with a matching hand soap and lotion set, invest in a pretty hand towel, and keep extra linens at the ready. These details will make your bathroom look even lovelier—and they’ll make it feel better to be in, too.

Children's bathroom - a bold positive interior that stands out against the background of other rooms with bright colors. We covered one of the bathroom walls with an author's eight-bit print from the German art studio E-boy. In the composition with the washbasin, we made a storage cabinet with a front made of bright yellow glass. On one of the walls, we have preserved a fragment of the original brickwork, the relief of which is illuminated by warm illumination.

Another dream come true is a wooden vanity top with a jagged front edge. A real elm, with knots, everything is as it should be. It was important to make the bedside table under the tabletop not right next to it, but a little lower, with a small gap. Then the whole structure looks easier. And the mirror above the sink hides communications - a comb, leakage sensors. Doors were made to order, they are with hidden boxes, without platbands. And high, 220 cm high, which also gives height to all rooms. The mirror in the hallway is made to order in the form of Bo Concept, only much cheaper. Black metal profiles in the tiles and in the walls give originality and graphics. We thought for a long time how to divide the two bathrooms according to their purpose. And they decided instead of the traditional division into the master bathroom and the guest bathroom as follows: the boys' bathroom - for dad and son, and the girls' bathroom - for mom and daughter. To your attention - the Girls' bathroom. White chevrons were made behind the sink. The color of the rest of the walls was matched to the color of the porcelain stoneware chosen for wall cladding behind the bathroom, and above 240 cm they were painted in a pleasant gray color. The bright ceiling light can be turned off, leaving only intimate lighting in the ceiling above the bath. nine0007

Main bathroom interior trends and anti-trends in 2021

Are you planning to renovate your bathroom? Before you start, check out what trends will be relevant in 2021. Design inspired by the love of nature, sophisticated tiles in neutral, earthy tones, bathroom accessories that will leave no one indifferent. ..

We've rounded up the 2020 fashion trends to help you decide what your new bathroom will look like! nine0146

BATHROOM DESIGN WITH LOVE FOR NATURE

This trend will appeal to nature lovers. This image restores the connection between man and nature. It has been proven that we are much more efficient and productive, calmer and more focused when surrounded by nature. You may even have noticed this trend in the design of commercial buildings, which are picturesquely inscribed in green plants.

  • CERAMIC TILE WITH FLOWERS - 299 COLLECTIONS and 871 PRODUCTS IN THE CATALOG KERAMOGRANIT.RU

On trend: The quickest way to make your bathroom feel like it's part of nature is to add lots of plants to the décor. You can decorate one wall with greenery, choose tiles that look like natural materials and a free-standing bathtub, as well as a custom-shaped sink that evokes nature. As for the color palette, opt for soothing colors with whites, grays and greens. nine0003

Wallpaper with greenery is the best choice for the ladies' room. Lighting also plays a rather large role in achieving the effect of naturalness. A window in the ceiling or just a large window will allow you to use natural light, while adjustable lighting with a dimmer will help to simulate it.

BATHTUBS & WASHBASINS: CULTURAL

Freestanding bathtubs and wash basins will look great. Inspired by Japanese bathrooms, natural asymmetric shapes and an artisanal, handcrafted atmosphere, the designers create new contemporary designs. This is a kind of return to the origins, albeit to imperfect, but pleasant and refined forms. nine0003

On trend: The freestanding bathtub can be installed against a wall, in the center of a room or even in a corner, depending on the space you have available. When it comes to washbasins and sinks, opt for natural, rugged materials such as stone, concrete, marble, etc. The use of a natural, unpolished (matte) stone surface is ideal, and the presence of veins in it is simply wonderful!

Investing in your bathroom renovation can give you an 85% increase in your investment when assessing the total value of your home. nine0146

SIMPLE DECOR: LIGHTING THE ARMATURE

If you are a fan of minimalist bathroom design, this look is for you! Open showers with full-height transparent glass walls have become huge showcases for the fixtures inside, and many sanitary ware companies have gone to great lengths to offer a rich assortment of unique and interesting minimalist details. Goodbye chrome! It's time to choose between black, gold, copper or matte elements. nine0003

The embodiment of the trend: take a simple washbasin. Unique plumbing fittings are best combined with regular tiles to emphasize a fashionable solution. It is better to install an open shower or separate the shower area with transparent glass walls.

REQUIRED COLORS FOR YOUR BATHROOM

Based on the Milan Design Show, champagne, as well as light yellow and pumpkin red, will be in fashion in 2020. Since both yellow and orange are rather loud colors, it is important to use them separately or discreetly. nine0003

Embodiment of the trend: use bright colorful accessories in the interior.

TERRAZZO IS IN NO HURRY TO LEAVE

Terrazzo... Combination of natural stone, cement and marble. Mosaic concrete is back in fashion this year, and it looks like designers will continue their passion for it in 2020. The terrazzo effect can now be found everywhere: in decorative accessories, on the surfaces of walls, tables and aprons. In the bathroom, this material is most often found in the shower area, both on the walls and on the floor, and also instead of a ceramic sink. This Italian style solution definitely never gets boring thanks to its unlimited combination of colors and materials. nine0003

  • TERRAZZO TILE KERAMA MARAZZI (RUSSIA). STYLE: ANTIQUE MEDITERRANEAN

On trend: terrazzo is a durable material, making it a smart choice. By nature, terrazzo has a fragmented surface, and this effect will look better with the use of small inclusions.

OPEN SHOWER AREAS ARE THE GOOD

When it comes to showers, there are a wide range of options on the market. However, Italian open-type shower cabins are quite in demand, especially advanced, multifunctional samples with a seat, fog effect, lighting, anti-fogging mirror, etc. There is a new trend to install in the shower area and a bath. The shower/bath can be separated from the rest of the bathroom by a glass wall. What is the meaning of such an organization of space? The bathroom will look much more spacious. We also often see dividing walls with black frames that give the space a loft-like feel. nine0003

The embodiment of the trend: before choosing such an image, it is important to think about the appropriateness. Combining a shower and bath can be a great idea, but not that practical. If they are in the same zone, water and soap get not only on the shower tray, but also on the bath. If space permits, we still recommend that you install an open-type shower and install a separate bathtub outside the shower area.

CONSOLE DRESSING TABLES

In 2020, console dressing tables will be in fashion instead of massive instances of this type of furniture. They are especially ideal for small spaces, as they take up less visual space and do not clutter up the room, as is the case with similar heavy items. Thus, they seem to visually enlarge the bathroom. The powder rooms will greatly benefit from this trend.

The epitome of the trend: if there is a place in which we store a bunch of everything we need and not so much, it is definitely a bathroom... To be able to embody this look, you will have to leave only the most necessary things in the bathroom. Given that the bathrooms are warm and humid, everything that can go bad (for example, perfume) should be stored outside this room. nine0003

SMALL BATHROOMS WITH HUGE POTENTIAL

Do you need to transform the look of your powder room? Every year designers come up with more and more interesting solutions on how to organize this space, because small bathrooms can look just as great as full-fledged bathrooms with four standard items (bathtub, shower, toilet and sink). Since the room is quite small, you can choose more luxurious finishing materials - this will not hit your wallet so hard. We also note the use of wallpaper on accent walls or floor-to-ceiling tiles in the powder rooms. Also used are quite unique shells of unusual shapes and designs, both made of concrete and marble. nine0003

  • CERAMIC WALLPAPER TILE - 55 COLLECTIONS and 193 PRODUCTS

On trend: To make the most of the available space, storage spaces can be raised up to the ceiling. If the size of your bathroom/powder's room doesn't allow you to fully let your imagination run wild, express yourself and bring your vision to life, just organize the space well and add some personal touches.

EXQUISITE TILE IN DEMAND

When it comes to tiles, it's all about the details. Extravagant artsy tiles are no longer needed by anyone. A carefully selected, discreet appearance is in demand. The trend is a neutral color palette, gray and matte black tones. For a slightly more dynamic look, you can choose a textured surface. The market also presents elite, high-quality tiles with both matte and glossy finishes. Luxury manifests itself in sophistication!

Trendy: Just because a tile is expensive doesn't always mean it's the best fit for you. Designers are experimenting with new styles, but it's always better to opt for a more elegant look that will stand the test of time. You can also choose tiles in both dark and light colors, but refrain from anything too flashy.

BATHROOM LIGHTING IN 2021

Bathroom lighting is incredibly important, not only for aesthetic reasons, but also in a practical sense. Next year's trend is minimalist and linear lighting that will highlight other elements and details of the bathroom. Luminaires and additional light sources featuring simple shapes and clean lines will also be popular. nine0003

  • BATHROOM TILE - 2,358 COLLECTIONS and 28,784 PRODUCTS

On trend: If you're planning a complete bathroom renovation, consider running strips of light between the walls and false ceiling. If this is not possible, choose a mirror with built-in lighting.

DATE TRENDS:(

Millennial pink: looks like this color is starting to go out of style. Refrain from pink tones, as well as from "rose gold".

Hexagonal tile: This intricately patterned tile is also no longer relevant. Opt for a simple tile.

Mahogany dressing tables: Avoid dark, red, mahogany or orange woods. Choose lighter colors.

Lacquered cabinets: lacquered bathroom cabinets have been quite popular for many years. However, in 2021, matte finishes will be fashionable.

Too much chrome: just as in the case of cabinets, instead of shiny and chrome parts, it is better to use matte fittings. In addition to being on trend, these types of elements are much easier to keep clean.

Glass tile: has long been avoided by designers, and you should do the same. nine0003

Rich patterns: tiles are laid for a long time, so refrain from overly complex motifs that you will eventually just get fed up with. You may like this design, but it can turn off potential buyers if the property needs to be sold. If you are going to use some motifs in the design, we recommend discreet patterns that almost match the background.

ALWAYS IN DEMAND :)

Marble: it is timeless and always with us! Whether small chevron tiles or large slabs, no matter the size or shape, this material is always in demand!

  • CERAMIC MARBLE TILE - 459 COLLECTIONS and 4 911 ITEM

Subway Boar Tile: Did you know that this tile was first used on the New York subway in 1904? She has been with us for over 100 years and is still in incredible demand. But entrust the laying to professionals: tiles are small and elongated, and a non-specialist can lay them unevenly. nine0003

  • METRO BOAR TILE - 238 COLLECTIONS and 1 363 PRODUCTS

Concrete slabs: gray concrete look tiles also stand the test of time. It will provide a simple and modern look to your bathroom.

  • CONCRETE LOOK CERAMIC TILE - 289 COLLECTIONS and 3,046 PRODUCTS

Neutrals and light colors: The choice of neutral or light colors is definitely justified. Such an image can look good for years. White or gray shades are usually chosen, as well as the color of light wood. nine0003

These tips, of course, do not exhaust all ideas for decorating a bathroom: the options are endless. Experiment with these trends - you can even combine them to achieve the effect that impresses you the most.
