Farrow & Ball alternatives: colour dupes from Dulux, Crown and B&Q

Here at YourHomeStyle, we absolutely love Farrow & Ball. Their iconic paint shades like Stiffkey Blue, Cornforth White and Sulking Room Pink are all over Instagram and Pinterest.

But if you've got a lot of wall space to cover or you're decorating on a tight budget, a premium brand like Farrow & Ball might be a little bit out of your price range. We get it! So we've scoured the high street decorating brands for the closest colour matches to the most popular Farrow & Ball shades.

Plus, our dupes guide now contains affordable alternatives to Farrow & Ball's colours for 2022. Read on to see our colour matches for Babouche, Incarnadine, Stone Blue, School House White and Breakfast Room Green, among others!

Of course, you can always use a paint mixing service to try and obtain a perfect match to your favourite shade - many decorating stores offer custom colour matching. However, the accuracy of the match can vary a lot depending on the brand and the colour, and there's always the risk you'll be disappointed with the final result. By opting for an existing paint colour, you know you'll get exactly what's on the tin.

One final note before we get started - don't forget that the final appearance of any paint shade can vary hugely depending on a number of factors, including the orientation of your room, placement of light sources, even the type of lightbulbs you use. The colour that looks perfect on a screen or on a swatch in-store can look totally different on your wall, so we'd always recommend buying a few tester pots or stickers and trying them out before you buy.

Check out our tester pot paint projects here for an even more budget-friendly makeover too.

Farrow & Ball Ammonite
Dulux Dusted Moss 2

Okay, we have to admit we're pretty pleased with ourselves when it comes to this one! Popular Farrow & Ball Colors Matched to Behr

I am constantly drawn to the beautiful and popular Farrow and Ball paint colors. Unfortunately, the accessibility and pricepoint are two reasons why I have yet to purchase this paint brand.

I know this is old school, but there is something about purchasing paint in a store that brings me comfort! Farrow and Ball paints are sold in limited stores so the purchase would be made online. While I am not opposed to purchasing online, the biggest detractor is the price point. I am usually scraping together my budget for DIY projects, so $115 for a gallon of paint is hard to justify.

Until I take the plunge and test the actual Farrow and Ball paint brand, I am happy with using paint color dupes at a more affordable price. Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore dealers offer color matching where they will match the exact Farrow & Ball color. Because all paint brands have different paint formulas, it will not be a 1:1 match, but it will be very close! The cost for a gallon of BM or SW paint is closer to $70. They also frequently offer discounts of 30-40%.

Big box stores like Lowe’s and Home Depot do not have the ability to color match but they offer a large variety of affordable paint to choose from. I decided to create a Farrow and Ball paint dupes round-up using Behr paint that is sold at Home Depot stores. A gallon of Behr interior paint costs about $30.

Popular Farrow and Ball Colors Matched To Behr Paint

As I mentioned above, this is not an exact 1:1 match, but it is very close. These Behr color options are a great solution if you do not have the budget to purchase Farrow & Ball paint.

Farrow and Ball colors feel like “adult” paint colors. For example, Calamine is a beautiful light pink that doesn’t feel too bubblegum or childlike. I am a sucker for pink walls that act as a neutral and Paris White by Behr seems to be a perfect substitute for Calamine.

Source | Anthropologie

This round-up is focused on Behr paint options, however, Floral Linen by Glidden/PPG is apparently an exact match to Calamine and is available at Home Depot.

Another paint color favorite is the muddy gray/green family. It is the perfect color to bring the outdoors in while adding warmth and life to a space. Mizzle is a beautiful neutral color and I have saved MANY images with this color as the backdrop on the walls.

Source House & Home | Mizzle by Farrow & Ball

Balance Green by Behr is a little lighter but could achieve a similar effect in a space. This is especially true if a room is a little darker or is northern facing with little direct sunlight.

The red paint colors can be intimidating to use because a design can easily feel dated if the wrong shade is chosen. I may be scarred from my high school bedroom design with red walls and zebra prints everywhere. Radicchio feels like the perfect warm red that gives London flat or quaint cottage vibes. Rocking Chair Red by Behr is this Farrow and Ball dupe.

A safe place to test the waters with such a bold color is on your front door. A red door is so cheerful and welcoming, it also looks great with fresh greenery framing it.

Dix Blue is another color that feels so stately! This rich greenish blue has an aged and vintage look to it. Provence Blue by Behr is another rich blue that looks like it would have been on the walls of country estates 150 years ago.

Source | Melanie Lissak Interiors | Dix Blue by Farrow & Ball

Pigeon is a very popular blue gray neutral that looks great in so many spaces. Urban Nature by Behr looks a little more like a soft green gray, but is very close in color. These colors are like chameleons and may look even more like eachother depending on the lighting of a room.

I particularly like the color Pigeon on paneled walls for a relaxed vibe.

Source | Studio McGee | Pigeon by Farrow & Ball

Arsenic is such a unique color and I admire anyone who can design a room with it! Veiled Chameleon by Behr is an affordable substitute. Below is a beautiful example of how this green can be incorporated into a space. The boot room cabinetry is painted Arsenic and the walls are Setting Plaster, another Farrow and Ball favorite.

Design by Clarence & Graves via House & Garden | Photography Owen Gale | Arsenic by Farrow & Ball

I love moody blue hues in a home! There is something so regal and stately about a deep blue wall color like Drawing Room Blue.

Soulful Music by Behr is a very similar color option that will achieve the same effect. The great thing about this deep blue is that it looks fantastic in any space – kitchen cabinets, living room, dining room, bathrooms, and bedrooms!

I used a deep blue (Cyberspace by Sherwin Williams) in our master bedroom and it looks lovely without being too bold.

Master Bedroom Makeover | Cyberspace by Sherwin Williams

Brinjal is another moody paint color that I have saved dozens of times! I love how this burgundy color looks in smaller spaces like bathrooms and mudrooms. Rich Bordeaux by Behr is a close match to this deep purple/brown by Farrow and Ball.

Designed by Ben Pentreath via House & Garden | Brinjal by Farrow & Ball

Setting Plaster is one of my favorite pink neutrals and no one uses it better than Heidi Caillier. This soft, dusty pink has yellow undertones to create a cozy feel and looks fantastic in bedrooms. Sonoran Desert by Behr is another great option for a peachy pink neutral.

Design by Heidi Caillier | Photography Haris Kenjar | Setting Plaster by Farrow & Ball

Greenish blue paint colors create such a cozy mood when added to walls. Green smoke is another versatile earth tone that brings nature inside.

Mountain Pine by Behr is a similar color that looks to pull a little more blue.

Design by Park & Oak | Green Smoke by Farrow & Ball

Matchstick, named after the light-colored wood of a match, is a beautiful creamy color. With yellow undertones, this color adds liveliness to any room. It looks great when paired with white accents. Macaroon Cream by Behr is a little lighter than Matchstick and a great option other than stark white walls.

via Houzz | Matchstick by Farrow & Ball

Down Pipe is a deep blue-gray that creates a dramatic effect when used on walls or cabinetry. The “all gray” trend is slowly dying but this gray is anything but boring. Astronomical by Behr is a great substitute for this bold hue.

via House & Home | Whittney Parkinson Designs | Photographer Sarah Shields

I used a dark, deep gray for our dining room and I love how it brings the drama! I color matched the dark gray to cabinets in our kitchen, so it is not a standard color option available.

I LOVE this muted mustard by Farrow and Ball! Yellow is another paint color that is intimidating to me because it very easily can look like a baby nursery or Waffle House. India Yellow is the perfect moody yellow that adds warmth and coziness to a room. Golden Rice by Behr is another lovely mustard that would look awesome on cabinets!

via House & Garden | India Yellow Farrow & Ball

Skimming Stone is an off-white color with gray undertones that pairs well with bold colors like Pelt or lighter colors like Wimborne White. Baby Artichoke by Behr is said to be an exact match of the Skimming Stone color, although it does look to be lighter when comparing both colors online.

Source | Farrow & Ball

Breakfast Room Green is such a cheerful color to use in your home. Gallery Green by Behr has that same lively and fresh feeling.

Review "Poster" for the film "Curse of the Jade Scorpio"

Mikhail Brashinsky

503 Assessment, Rating 1017

as a real clown as a real clown , Woody Allen makes the funniest movies when he's down and the darkest when he's good. While he lived peacefully with Mia Farrow, he filmed the nerve-wracking divorce drama Husbands and Wives. As he began to divorce Mia Farrow in court, he shot the lightest comedy about marriage, Murder Mystery in Manhattan. By that logic, Allen's new film would have to be a hell of a lot of crap. He has new producers, a new mansion on the Upper East Side, a young wife, a small child, he somewhere recently said that everything is so good with him that it’s even a shame. Meanwhile, The Curse of the Jade Scorpion is one of his most elegant and funny films, the best (apart from Taking Harry apart) he has made in the last ten years, a happy film of a happy man. Maybe Allen has the first one. nine0003

Happiness manifests itself primarily in peace: this is a perfect work, even, self-confident, well thought out. In the past, Allen had often limited himself to one notion; sometimes it wasn't enough. Here you experience the pleasure of how all the cards are played to the last.

New York, 1940. Insurance Detective S. W. Briggs solves case after case; the only thing that ruins his life is the new secretary Miss Fitzgerald. At a party, they are both hypnotized by a stage magician and confess their love to each other. Soon the magician calls Briggs and, having hypnotized on the phone, forces him to steal diamonds in the house insured by him. The next morning, remembering nothing, Briggs begins an investigation. He arrives at the scene of his crime, and Veronica Lake meets him. That is, this is Charlize Theron, made up as Veronica Lake, the main blonde of black films. It puts everything in its place. 40s, insurance detective, confusing crime, femme fatale. Allen seems to have taken on the genre of noir that suddenly became relevant this season, and his film is a great rhyme to The Man Who Wasn't There. Only the Coens turned the "black" melodrama into a tragedy, and Allen into a parlor farce. Theron looks like Veronica Lake, but Woody himself looks like Humphrey Bogart - not quite. nine0003

He knows this, of course. He knows that in everything, including his age (66), not a detective story suits him better, but a parlor farce. Fortunately, this is still the same sparkling and self-satisfied Hollywood of romantic comedies of the 30s and 40s, perhaps the last time when cinema was truly happy. Disregarding the visual sophistication and techniques learned from the Europeans, Allen simply puts two people in the frame and gives the command: “Swear!” Resentments buzz between partners like wasps. Like between some Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant. Partners - Allen and Helen Hunt - quarrel first-class. Their relationship is interesting, like 60 years ago, when there was nothing but relationships. The fact that Allen is not very similar to Cary Grant, for some reason, does not cause objections. nine0003

7 Scorpion of love

BRIGGS, a shameful insurance agent, which is nevertheless Advi maybe his boss, Betty Ann, a beautiful, business-like woman, but with a bitchy and irreconcilable character that comes from everywhere. But soon Briggs and Betty Ann will have an extraordinary adventure, in which variegated swindlers, colorful hypnotists and love frustrations of our unlucky heroes will be involved. nine0003

Comedy in the hands of such an outstanding cinematographer as Woody Allen always turns into something eccentric, funny and breaking stereotypes. With his extraordinary creative prolificness, Woody Allen never created a truly unsuccessful and weak picture, although critics sometimes found occasion to reproach him. Such for many film critics was the 2001 film called The Curse of the Jade Scorpion, which, in my opinion, became one of the most elegant, stylish and striking works of this entertaining director. nine0003

"The Curse of the Jade Scorpion" is a film that surprisingly and subtly intertwines the genre combinations of classic Hollywood comedy in the style of the 30s and 40s, with a tangible influence of Billy Wilder and Howard Hawks, a criminal-adventurous narrative and a light, unpretentious melodrama, moreover, the plot as such is not the essence and is important, because the film is built as a game of genres and a scattering of characters, sophisticated in its directorial manner.

The cast in the film, as always with Woody Allen, is stellar to the point of impossibility and even in small roles, almost a cameo, familiar faces are all occupied. With the role of Briggs, Woody Allen continued his gallery of neurotic and hard-to-communicate heroes, playing excellently in this picture. Convincing and Helen Hunt in the role of Betty Ann, and Dan Aykroyd, and brightly shining in the film, Charlize Theron, and memorable colorful characters David Ogden Stiers and Wallace Shawn. Cinematographer Zhao Fei shot the film in a nostalgic and full of rich and rich visual manner, perfectly conveying to the viewer the spirit of New York in the 40s. The lyrical and light atmosphere in the film is excellently created by the soundtrack full of jazz rhythms, which fits perfectly into the overall structure of this film work. nine0003

I recommend this film to all Woody Allen fans and connoisseurs of smart and non-trivial comedies.

Every time after a movie, Woody wants to lean out the window and shout that he is the best. Because time later, then you have to write here. It makes no sense to list all the advantages of the picture, they, in my opinion, are obvious to everyone.
I've only been thinking throughout the film, why did Charlize Theron (together with Helen Hunt!) want "this termite" so much. Uh, well, in general, in the end I wanted it too. He is brilliant! nine0003

I want to say: “Woody! A little slower! This is genius! I do not have time!..". I want to quote every joke, every dialogue...

And those delicious mouth-watering squabbles between Allen and Helen Hunt!..

I think this director comes to taste "with food". He is a master, and every time I feel more sympathy for him.
