It’s getting closer, friends. Halloween, I mean. Are you ready? Have you amped up the scare-factor of your décor this year? If not, I’d recommend it. At least, I’d recommend it if you don’t have young children around to wake up in a cold sweat from nightmares and come screaming into your bedroom. Because that would make for a very long month indeed…

WARNING: This article is not particularly kid-friendly. Many of the following ideas have been known to make grown men scream, cry, or worse. Consider yourselves warned.

Doctored-Up Dollies – Turn some old dolls into zombies with some red (blood) paint and ripped clothing, then scatter throughout your front yard. Bonus: The doll’s having hair is optional.

View in gallery

Chandelier Cobwebs – Bringing the cobwebs from ceiling to floor is a good way to get tons of decorating mileage out of one Halloween concept. Tip: Spread the fake cobwebs thin to make them more realistic.

Cheesecloth Spirits – Glue cheesecloth onto foam mannequin heads (available at wig shops) and hang from the ceiling. Complete the scariness with a fan on low speed.

View in gallery

Crashed Witch’s Legs – Take the legs of a mannequin, put on some striped witch’s tights and shoes, then stick them upside down in a pot. This is more silly than scary, of course, but even the faint of heart should have some fun decorating ideas, right?

View in gallery

Skull-Headed Spider – Craft your own oversized spider legs out of thick wire (painted or wrapped in black), then mount with a human skull.

View in gallery

Hands in a Pond – While you’re focused on outdoor Halloween decorations, have a go at this idea: place fake hands into a pond, a fountain, or any contrived murky water feature. Super easy and also disconcerting, to say the least.

View in gallery

Spider Pod People – Wrap fake skulls in cheesecloth and hang from the ceiling in a “pod” shape. Top off with scuttling spiders. This is beyond creepy.

View in gallery

Bloody Handprint – If you’re up against a Halloween decorating deadline, red poster paint will be your new best friend. Slap some red “bloody” handprints onto the window, done and done.{found on prudentbaby}.

View in gallery

Bats in Flight – Cardstock black bats can overtake the entire space’s Halloween décor (in a good way!) as they “fly” en masse toward a window. I like the pairing here with an oversized purple spiderweb, too.

View in gallery
Cheesecloth-Covered Black Tablecloth – This one’s pretty basic and may not be super scary all by itself. But by tugging cheesecloth open to create the look of tears in it, set against black, it looks authentic and old and creepy. Use this idea in conjunction with other scary Halloween decorations.

View in gallery

Cockroach Lampshade – For a little piece of paper cut out in a bug shape, this simple Halloween decoration has a large creepy-crawly impact. Attach paper “bug” to the inside of the lampshade.

DIY “Nevermore” Tree – Edgar Allan Poe and ravens are the perfect ingredients for nearly any scary Halloween décor recipe. Such is the case with this raven-filled branch-tree. (Full tutorial available.)

View in gallery

Glass Dome Head – This one might be a little on the too-scary side for me, but nevertheless it’s a great scary Halloween decoration. Paint a deathly-looking mannequin head, then wrap in tea-stained cheesecloth “shroud” inside a glass dome. I’m disturbed…but impressed, too.

Bloody Candles – For a straightforward, scary piece of Halloween décor, listen up: merely take a red candle and melt it over top of a white one so the red wax runs down like blood. I’m all for effective simplicity.{found on site}.

View in gallery

Framed Doily Spiderwebs – I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – mixing anything feminine or delicate with creepy Halloween icons (e. g., spiders) makes it a hundred times spookier. These framed doily spiderwebs are a perfect example. Also, hung askew like that? Genius.

View in gallery

Spiderweb Railing – If you have some removable railing posts, consider removing them and filling the space with a sturdy spiderweb (perhaps of black wire). For safety purposes, add the spiderweb near the bottom of the staircase. For a more temporary alternative, consider stringing black yarn over some of your staircase railing posts.

Black & White Ink Prints – By reigning in the color scheme to black and white, these ink prints become both artistic and sophisticated…as well as pretty creepy. Keep the black balanced with the white.

View in gallery

Finger Ringing Doorbell – Severed body parts are, for some, a must-have at this time of year. This particular vignette makes me cringe and laugh at the same time. Which counts for something, no?{found on prudentbaby}.

View in gallery

Glass-caged Snake – If you’ve got a glass cloche sitting around, let’s fill it this season with something a little unexpected. Like a white-painted rubber snake, formed into striking position with wire.

Skewed Décor – This is less a specific scary decoration than an overall decorating technique to make things scarier at Halloween. Focus on the imperfect, the slanted, the mutant, the deformed. Hang photos skewed, stack books un-neatly, and keep things overall asymmetrical.

20 Simple But Bright Halloween Decor Ideas - INMYROOM

Halloween is coming and you haven't figured out how to decorate your house yet? We have selected some interesting decor ideas, the props for which you can easily find in your closet. And you don't even have to go to the store :)

"Very scary" garland

Making such a garland is easy: you only need colored cardboard. You can cut out skulls, ghosts, pumpkins or bats. You can easily find templates on the Internet. The blanks can be hung on a fishing line or a New Year's garland can be taken out so that the craft also glows at night.

Pinterest

Home terrarium

Toy frogs and bugs are great for making a makeshift terrarium: place them in regular twist jars and add branches and moss.

Pinterest

Themed candle holders

Do not throw away used glass jars of baby puree, sauces and jams. Paint them inside with orange acrylic paint, then twist them from the attachment wire.

The final and main touch is the silhouettes of faces made of black paper. After the holiday, the stickers can be removed and the candlesticks can continue to be used.

Pinterest

All-seeing tree

Get old Christmas toys from the mezzanine, arm yourself with paints and go! You are guaranteed to win the competition for the creepiest decor of this Halloween.

Pinterest

Witch hats

Hats can be made from cardboard and fabric. And the effect of levitation will help create a transparent fishing line.

Pinterest

Gauze web

Subdued light, mystical music, cobweb hanging from above - if you want to create such an atmosphere, stock up on gauze: you need to tear it and fix it on the ceiling. For spiders you will need balloons and plastic straws for drinks. Bend the tubes in different directions, attach to the balls and paint everything with black paint.

Bottle labels

For those who like to think through every detail, themed labels are a great find. Pictures can be made in Photoshop or download ready-made free templates on the Internet - all that remains is to print them and stick them on bottles.

Pinterest

Masks for paintings and photographs

Everyone wears masks at the Carnival in Venice: why not bring this tradition to the Halloween party? Let the characters in the paintings and photographs also correspond to the thematic dress code.

Pinterest

Paper balloon pumpkins

Paper balloons, which are used to decorate children's parties, will also come in handy at your party. Glue on the black paper eyes and mouth to turn the balls into funny pumpkins.

Pinterest

Gothic candles

It is not necessary to look for black candles specifically for the holiday, you can make them yourself. Stock up on plain white IKEA candles, black paint, and lace ribbons. Fix them on the wax surface, cover with paint and let the pattern dry.

Pinterest

Black and White Pumpkins

Acrylic paint can be patterned by hand or stenciled - both are good.

10 life hacks for home with photo

Entertain kids and adults alike by making Halloween themed decorations. And use these ideas for inspiration - you must admit, it was thought up quite well.

Ksenia Ilchenko

Spiders, pumpkins, bats and skeletons are at your service!

Contents of the article

Ghosts

Making such funny ghosts is not difficult at all. You will need a small pot - you can cover it with craft paper with a thematic pattern.

Fill a container with expanded clay or soil and "plant" the sprigs painted in different colors into it. To make ghosts, you will need a few lollipops. Wrap them with a napkin and tie at the base with threads. Glue eyes on the ghost if you wish - you can find them in any needlework store.

Mummy

To make this impromptu mummy , wrap several layers of bandages around a sofa cushion. In the upper part of the product, glue two cotton pads with black "pupils" made of colored paper.

Jars instead of pumpkins

Traditional pumpkins can be replaced with ordinary glass jars. Cover them with tissue paper on the outside. Cut out frightening muzzles from black cardboard and attach to the jars. Place candles inside. With the lights off, it all looks very impressive!

Spooky Spiders

This idea requires a small investment - you will need figures of skeletons, crows, spiders and other symbols of the holiday. Put lumps of artificial moss on the bottom of a large dish, plant a couple of scary spiders on them. Place the figurines vertically using rock bases and tree branches to support them, and cover them with a glass jar. Such a terrarium will definitely impress the guests of your theme party!

Candlesticks

These candlesticks can be made from low glass vases wrapped with thin white twine. Several black spiders will complete the overall picture - insects will look very impressive against the background of a burning candle.

Spider web painting

Another interesting spider-themed decoration . Take a hoop and decorate it with a net of white woolen threads. To do this, you need to tie four long cuts in a circle, creating the basis for the future web. Then tie them with threads, moving in a circle from the center of the network. Plant several rubber spiders on the finished net and hang the hoop over a window or door.

Window Decoration

Another Web

For this project you will need a square black trash bag. Fold it diagonally to make a triangle. Now fold the bag a few more times - the triangle must be narrowed as much as possible.

Now cut out the blank of the future web from it, as shown in the photo. For convenience, fasten the opened part of the package with tape. If you did everything right, then after unfolding the blank, you will get a nice web made of polyethylene.

Bats

Bats , which literally filled your home, look very impressive.

Print this blank on the printer and circle it along the contour, attaching it to thin black cardboard. You can make as many mice as you want - but the more the better!

Pumpkin-like balloons

Decorate the party room with orange helium-filled balloons. On each of them, draw scary faces with a black marker. Alternatively, you can cut out the decor from black colored paper and glue it to the balloons.
