Entry doors ideas

Front Door Ideas to Make Over Your Entrance

In terms of the overall design of your home, doors are often an afterthought. They are merely a means for passing through or for providing a bit of privacy. You start to live with what they look like while you paint and decorate the walls around them.

It doesn’t have to be the case — especially not with your front door. You can design your door in countless ways to make it a centerpiece of your curb appeal instead of an overlooked element of your home’s aesthetic.

Ways to Upgrade Your Front Door

A light, neutral blue pops from the classic black-and-white color scheme.

1. Pick a new front door paint color.

An entry door is a small canvas, which makes for a quick and easy update. But make no mistake, despite the small canvas, painting your new front door a new color makes a big impact.

While you can certainly take cues from your home’s exterior color palette, many homeowners choose to go bold with their color choice by selecting a swatch that’s bright and eye-catching. This has long been a door design trend because it gives you a chance to add some flair that reflects your personality more than the often understated hues used in typical exterior paint schemes.

Struggling to find the right color? Pick a front door paint color that accents your landscaping. Take inspiration from the surrounding flowers and trees that bloom throughout the seasons. You’ll love seeing the little pops of color that sprout up to bring life to your front door and bring continuity to your curb appeal.

2. Style your entrance with front door décor.

There’s no end to your outdoor home décor options. If you can dream it, you can probably find it. And if you can’t find it, you can craft something yourself to style your door to fit your unique taste.

Whether you’re one who enjoys switching up outdoor decorations with the seasons or someone who prefers sticking to one style year-round, there are a few tips to follow when sifting through all the front door décor ideas:

3. Surround your front door with glass.

If you want to go big with your front door upgrade, make the door design bigger. Transom windows go above the door. Sidelights are windows that can be on one or both sides. Both types of windows expand your canvas.

Decorative glass on your transoms or sidelights allows you to add intricate and ornamental designs to these windows. Clear, unobstructed glass makes your entrance look more modern. And don’t forget the trim. The frame around these windows can be used to add an accent color or highlight the windows and front door design even more.

18 Unusual Entrance Doors That Have Become Hallway Features — INMYROOM

Guide

See what techniques Russian designers use to decorate the entrance group. All bright examples in one collection

How to choose the front door to the apartment? And how to make the door look stylish and organic in the interior? Traditionally, in our country, you can find classic design entrance doors, and the color palette is limited to a few shades. But the pros are ready to surprise and inspire new experiments - just scroll through the material to the end.

Loft-style one-bedroom apartment with lots of color and interesting details. It was decided to paint the entrance hall, together with the front door, in yellow-lemon color, so that a light and relaxed mood would be created from the threshold.

Designers from Line Design Studio decided to make the entrance group accent. So, the entrance wall and the door were painted in one blue-blue hue, plus the wall was supplemented with contrasting wooden slats.

Since the entrance hall smoothly flows into the kitchen-living room, the designers of Geometrium decided to highlight this area visually in black. This technique helps to mark the entrance to the room. Next to the door, one part of the wall was decorated with wooden slats, and a solid wooden panel with hangers for outerwear was installed on the second.

In the hallway, as in the whole apartment, graphite walls and ceiling. The cabinet fronts are in the same shade. But the door was made accent - it was painted red and complemented with a few bright details.

The customer wanted to see her apartment in black and white. For accents, we settled on a mustard shade. But they decided to make the front door brighter - yellow. Against the background of black brickwork, the paneled door looks bold.

Anddesign studio designers know that a high architraves will increase the appearance of doors. You can go further and make the entrance an accent spot against the background of white walls. But even against a neutral background, a chip with a high casing will work perfectly.

The hallway of this spacious treshka is entirely lined with porcelain stoneware panels and is a cube. And in order not to violate the integrity of the visual effect, the front door was chosen to be minimalistic in tone with the finish.

Designer Yana Volkova chose the color palette of sakura for her apartment. The walls and ceiling were painted in one color with washable paint. They did the same with the air conditioner, ceiling spots and the front door from the developer.

The customer wanted a red English box front door. The designers of the Carmine Home studio bought an ordinary red door, supplemented it with a stucco portal and glued bevelled mirrors on the convex parts of the door panel.

The entrance door for this project was chosen in a classic style - with panels, glass insert and wrought iron decor. And so that it would not look too strict, they painted the walls in the color - deep green.

During the redevelopment of this apartment, the designers had to practically abandon the corridor in favor of the living room. Therefore, it was decided to build a large mirrored canvas into the front door. It makes the space visually larger, and it is convenient to look into it just before going out.

With the help of color block, designer Svetlana Khabeeva turned a small two-bed apartment into an interesting space. So, a wide horizontal strip was made on the white walls of the kitchen, living room and hallway. The front door was no exception, and as a result turned out to be almost invisible.

In this kopeck piece, the walls of the hallway, the interior decoration of the front door, cabinet furniture are made in the same color. The accents are a black granite shelf and a mirror. By the way, they decided not to hang the latter on the wall, but to build it directly into the front door.

Dark green paint helped the designers at Tabooret to visually highlight the dirty area of the hallway. She painted the walls, and the door, and even part of the cabinets.

The area of the entrance hall in this socket does not even reach 5 m². The designers decided to play on contrasts, because visually this technique enlarges the room, shifts attention from a small volume to dynamic colors. The front door in a burgundy shade harmoniously combines with cold blue and makes the room “warmer”.

The designer created a laconic interior with a lot of light and little decor. White was chosen as the main color and small graphic accents were added. So, a large poster in a black frame was hung on the wall in the hallway. And the front door seems to duplicate it - also white with black trim.

Dark paint was used to finish the entrance area — the door seemed to dissolve into the wall. Porcelain stoneware with a wood grain pattern was laid on the floor — the floor itself looks elegant and masks the dirt from the street.

This apartment was designed for rent, but they did not limit themselves to the usual design solutions. Bright colors and a ballet theme were chosen for decoration. So, the ceiling, walls, closet and door in the hallway are emerald. The latter was also supplemented with a bright yellow frame - it looks unusual.
