Best selling vintage items 2023

2022 Vintage & Antique Trends • Adirondack Girl @ Heart

Hi there! I’m welcoming in the new year with a list of 15 vintage and antique items that I anticipate buyers will be looking for throughout 2022. I’m thrilled to be sharing my take on 2022 Antique & Vintage Trends.

These are the items that I’ll be searching for to sell over and over again in this year because so many collectors and decorators want them. They have a proven track record that I expect to see continue well into 2022, and probably beyond.

I’ve been buying and selling antiques for over twenty-five years, so I’ve brought all that knowledge and experience to bear on this list. (Click HERE to find out more about my background.)

If you’d like to get a serious jump on what’s selling in vintage and antiques, you’ll want to pick up my Savvy Seller Sales Guide 2020-21, coming out soon.

It will contain prices on every item I sold during 2020 and 21, broken down by category (books, ironstone, glassware, etc. ) and platform (Etsy, eBay, Facebook Marketplace, and my antique booth).

Click HERE to get early order pricing!

Today’s list contains items I’ve personally had experience selling, with confirmation based on extensive reading and feedback from my thousands of followers.

Many of those followers are also members of my private Facebook group–Your Vintage Headquarters. If you’re not a member yet, you should be!!

1. Ironstone

I had an absolute field day with ironstone this year. Not only did I sell several larger serving pieces from my antique booth, but I sold over 30 smaller pieces on Etsy. This Turner, Goddard & Co. pitcher, with the small chip, sold for $42 from my booth.

This year I learned that Etsy buyers look for ironstone items like mugs, creamers, small pitchers, and butter pats, and they are willing to pay premium prices for them.

White ironstone provides the perfect blank canvas for decorating since it allows more colorful antiques to really stand out when placed near them.

Look for signed English pieces since buyers prefer them and will pay more, but unsigned American pieces and some restaurantware sells well too.

Condition matters less with this collectible than with others. In fact, pieces with all-over browning are preferred by some collectors(!).

2. Costume Jewelry

Quality costume jewelry continues to be an excellent seller from three platforms: Etsy, eBay, and antique booths. In particular, I’ve found that high end designer jewelry sells especially well on eBay.

The pair of earrings above, marked “Tabra,” serve as a good example of this. Made in Bali (Indonesia), these Bohemian-style pierced earrings sold for $125. A similar pair sold last year for $130.

In addition, this year I experimented with selling Trifari jewelry on eBay and had surprisingly good results. Look for perfect condition, signed pieces of costume jewelry to secure the highest prices.

3. Baskets

Vintage and antique baskets appeal to collectors and decorators, not just for their beauty, but for their functionality. Want to contain extra pillows in the living room, remotes in the family room, baking supplies in the pantry? Baskets are the answer!

I sell examples like the basket above from my antique booth. It went for $45. Finer quality Native American baskets sell well for me on eBay where avid collectors are always on the lookout.

In general, avoid buying those large oak splint picnic baskets with the awkward lids for resale since they’re not popular. Instead, look for light weight, tightly woven baskets (often made of ash splint) with a darker surface patina and handles that have been securely integrated into the body of the basket.

Baskets with reeds that appear “hairy” rather than smooth signal a newer example that should be avoided.

4. Canning Jars

Canning jars are a perennial good seller for me from my antique booth. I consistently secure values that are equal to eBay’s sold listings–or slightly higher. This saves me time and energy since I don’t have to photograph, list, or carefully ship them.

I always pick up every low-priced jar I come across with the exception of those made of clear glass with common names like Ball, Mason, and Atlas–unless they have some unusual characteristic.

Do pick up clear jars with interesting names, like the Presto Wide Mouth above, which sold for $18 from my booth.

Don’t let the lack of a lid prevent you from buying a jar. Keep a stash of screw-on zinc lids and glass lids for wired “lightning seals” on hand for easy mixing and matching. They are frequently available for a dollar or less out in the wild.

5. Tools

When I first got into the antique business, I didn’t give tools much thought. But as I began to notice other dealers selling them, and collectors and decorators buying them, my interest began to grow, LOL.

I have a container on a shelf in my booth that holds multiple tools for sale, and I sprinkle others around the booth where appropriate. Folding rulers shaped into stars, for example, accent farmhouse style booths nicely.

I hang levels and other interesting pieces, especially wrought iron ones on the wall. I placed the plane you see above on a table with some succulents tucked inside, and it sold for $28.

Look for tools made of wood or with wooden parts, signed tools, and colorful tools, like those with red handles.

6. Farmhouse Style Objects

“Farmhouse Style” antiques is a big, broad category, I know. But I find it necessary since all kinds of messy metal and wooden items can be found at estate sales (and curbside) that aren’t easily categorized.

This rusty, metal claw-like thingy that sold for $18 from my antique booth serves as a good example of this phenomenon.

I cleaned it up, slapped a price tag on it, and a buyer came along who fell in love with it. Not every item has to have a specific function, so long as it has a great “look.”

My thingy’s powerful silhouette suggests folk art when placed against a white wall. It could also make a great decoration on the outside of a shed or small barn. So many possibilities!

Train yourself to look for unexpected items in possibly unexpected places (e.g., the garbage pile) that once cleaned up or presented in an interesting way, could yield a good profit.

7.

Leather Books

Leather bound books, or leather-spined books like those you see here, feel wonderful in your hand, look handsome in your office, and lightly fill the air with their smoky scent. They elevate the importance of a room in a way that many people are after.

These three sold from my antique booth for $15-18 each. Those fully bound in leather might sell for $30-50 or more depending upon their age, condition, and subject matter.

Even older books in rough shape with scrapes and/or chips are worth picking up since they will sell, too.

8. Flower Frogs

Flower frog collectors abound! If you’re not selling them yet, start! Common clear glass and metal pin-types sell briskly from my antique booth.

I always have my business cards stuck in a pin-type to show how it can be used and a pair of scissors or a pen slotted into a glass frog.

Less common examples, along with prettier ones, like this green glass frog with embossed design around the edge, sell well on Etsy. This one sold there for $25.99.

At estate sales poke around garages, basements, and inside planters to find more common types and in dining rooms and china cupboards for fancier pieces.

9. Toothpick Holders

You may be surprised to learn about the popularity of this small but mighty collectible. I’ve yet to offer a single toothpick holder that hasn’t sold. This likely has something to do with their ease of collecting since they take up little space and the fact that they tend to be relatively low priced.

Unless you get into higher end examples, like those made of sterling silver, you can expect to sell them in the $10-20 range. The amber, pressed glass toothpick you see above, sold from my antique booth for a solid $10.

Look for glass and ceramic examples, as well as those desireable sterling silver ones(!), and check them carefully for chips and cracks as most collectors want pieces in near perfect condition.

10. Luggage

For whatever reason, I have great success selling vintage luggage on Facebook Marketplace (FBMP). It sells reasonably well from my antique booth, but much more slowly. Since individual pieces take up a fair amount of space, I prefer to sell them on FBMP.

That said, I know many sellers with antique booths who do great business selling vintage suitcases from their spaces. As an antique seller you have to experiment with what sells best for you on what platform because it’s going to vary, sometimes significantly.

Buyers tend to be looking for suitcases for home decor, particularly for stacking to create end tables or for storage under larger pieces of furniture, like armoirs or coffee tables.

I sold the [imperfect] tweed suitcase above, for $20 on FBMP.

11. Christmas Decorations

Who doesn’t love Christmas?!! This highly nostalgic holiday means that huge numbers of people–collectors and decorators–are in the market for Christmas antiques that bring back all the good memories.

Christmas decorations sell well on all four platforms–Facebook Marketplace, Etsy, eBay, and antique booths, though I personally have the greatest success on eBay.

Through research and experimentation, I’ve discovered that certain items sell better from one platform than the others. For example, I learned that I can sell mercury glass garlands more easily and for much higher returns on eBay than on Etsy or from my booth.

Mini-Santa Clause mugs like those above have been selling lately for extremely high prices on eBay. This set of six sold for $59. 99. Had I placed them in my antique booth, I would have expected to make no more than $20, if that.

When shopping for Christmas inventory, look for mercury glass garlands, Putz houses, bottle brush trees, Shiny Brites in boxes, Polish and Italian glass ornaments, and anything unusual.

12. Farmhouse Furniture

Have you noticed that larger pieces of furniture have been harder to sell for several years now? Because of this, I make sure to stock my booth with multiple small pieces, like this document box above.

Dating to the late 1800’s and held together with square-head nails, it brought in $80 (to a fellow antique seller).

I’ve read a few times now that “farmhouse style is dead,” but not in my area(!). How about yours? It may be true in more highly urban areas where MCM is more popular, but not in my neck of the woods.

If you live in an urban location, consider selling farmhouse furniture on Etsy or eBay where it remains popular with many collectors and decorators across the country.

Look for pieces with lovely patina that feel smooth to the touch and good construction (e.g., tight, dove-tailed, etc.).

13. Pyrex

I’m pretty new to selling Pyrex, for two reasons: (1) it doesn’t fit in well with my booth’s farmhouse style and (2) I don’t come across a lot of it at prices that allow enough room for a good profit.

I’ve included it on my list because I have begun to sell it more regularly and because I hear from my thousands of antique seller followers that it sells extremely well for them.

The Butterprint (or Amish) set in turquoise on white (above) sold for $100 on Facebook Marketplace. It was going for about this same price on eBay and I avoided the hassle of having to ship it. I’ve also begun to sell several single pieces from my antique booth year after year.

Learn what the popular patterns look like, e.g., Butterprint, Gooseberry, and Friendship, and start scouting them out. Avoid pieces with a lot of damage and too much baked on grime.

That said with a bit of elbow grease and the right products, you can remove quite a lot of that grime. (Click the link below for guidance.)

Related:

14. Cook Books

Cook book buyers fall into two categories: collectors and cooks. With so many interested buyers, it makes sense to focus on this area, particularly if you have a booth–that’s where I sell most of mine.

This 1972 edition of the Better Homes New Cook Book (above) sold for $12 in 2021, along with twelve other cook book titles. My experience has been that I achieve higher prices from my booth than on either Etsy or eBay.

An exception to this rule is especially old or rare cook books, which I sell on eBay because I find they sell faster there and for higher prices than my booth.

Pick up vintage examples of all the common cook books we’ve come to know and love since many people are in the market for “mother’s” cook book.

These include: Joy of Cooking, The Boston Cooking School Cook Book, Betty Crocker’s Cook Book (and Picture Cook Book), Woman’s Home Companion Cook Book, and Mastering the Art of French Cooking.

15. Handwritten Ephemera

I learned this year, after writing an article here on my website (link below) about handwritten recipe books, just how popular this type of ephemera is, particularly on Etsy.

After selling three handwritten recipe books, including the one above  for $42.99, I began to list other items falling into the same general category to see how they would do.

To my delight, I sold two student notebooks and a tin recipe box filled with handwritten recipes. Last year I also sold a set of antique, handwritten [stamped] envelopes.

As a result of this “experiment” I’ve picked up several more pieces of handwritten ephemera that I hope to sell on Etsy in the new year.

I should note that in addition to the Etsy sales, I also sold three antique autograph books via my antique booth.

You can easily find items from this category of antiques when out vintage shopping because other sellers are unaware of their potential and therefore often pass them by.

Antiques & Collectibles - The Trends For 2022 – Source Vintage

It's Monday once again which can mean only one thing. .. It's 'Blog Post Monday' time!

Last year I wrote a blog post looking at some potential trends within the antiques and collectibles market for that year.  It proved to be one of my top performing posts, so, with it being a new year, I thought I'd have a look at some potential trends for 2022.  After many hours of research, I think I've managed to come up with a few areas where I see growth continuing or potential for new upcoming trends.

Of course, I'm not a professional trend forecaster, these are simply my own thoughts compiled from my own research, so please take from it what you will, but more importantly, please tell me in the comments below if you have your own predictions for the year ahead!

So, as always, get that kettle on and settle in for my top antique and collectible trends for 2022...

Photo by Sandra Platas Hernandez for Source Vintage - Model Leyah Shanks

Vintage Clothing

No doubt fuelled by the young environmentally conscious, sites such as Etsy, Vinted and Depop continue to report increased demand.   Generation Z have started snapping up cheaply priced one-off pieces as an alternative to buying new.  Pieces from the later periods of the 1980's, 90's and even the 00's (feeling old yet!!!) have become particularly popular.  Some are forecasting that by 2024, the vintage fashion industry will be worth as much as $64 billion...!!

Victorian Jewellery

Antique jewellery is always in demand and it's the charm, uniqueness and sustainability of Victorian Jewellery that's pushing its desirability to new levels.  People are discovering that you can get a damn sight more for your money, while getting something very unique!

Mid-Century Modern

We've all witnessed it over the past few years.  Yes, the mid-century modern boom is set to continue for a while and we're not just talking furniture.  Almost anything related to this period is now of interest to collectors and dealers.  There are no signs of this slowing any time soon.

Vintage Rolex Watches

The vintage Rolex watch market continues to grow steadily, with models made during the last forty or fifty years in particular demand.  Rolex increased the prices of their watches last year and as such, the second-hand market has followed.  Imperfections that were once undesirable, for example, faded dials, have become sought after, as modern models don't suffer from this kind of wear.

Toys

People have been going crazy for old toys, especially online.  Interestingly, vintage board games are in high demand, with sales climbing significantly.  Of course, classics such as wind-up toys and dinky toys continue to do well, and there is increased demand for action figures and franchise-driven toys from the 1970s and 80s.

Chinese Silver

Over the last ten to twenty years, Chinese silver has become quite collectable, and the market continues to grow.   The preference of the majority of collectors based in mainland China appears to be the traditional motifs, with enamelled details and silver gilt also in favour.

Space-Related Collectibles

Most thought that space memorabilia would slow after the NASA moon landing commemoration last year.  However, sales remain strong, particularly with younger buyers, with some attributing this to fans of Elon Musk and his SpaceX project.  Some dealers and collectors are saying that the effects of restrictions around house clearances and car boot sales early on in the pandemic are now being felt, with new pieces becoming more difficult to find at reasonable prices.

Art Deco

Dealers have acknowledged that demand and prices for high-end Art Deco pieces has grown considerably, with sales of small items such as clocks, jewellery, lighting and decorative objects proving to be the biggest sellers.

Art and Sculptures

Dealers are reporting a huge increase in the amount of art being sold.  Interest in early twentieth-century pieces rose sharply, as did the prices, while brutalist mid-century metal sculptures also remain hot.  Replica pieces and pieces being made in-the-style-of are also selling well.

Automobilia / Petrolina

Sales of signage, oil cans, posters and emblems, well, anything related to the automotive world really, is selling well, particularly online.  The amount of car related TV shows on our screens at the moment continues to demonstrate just how popular this category is.

Lighting

While most areas of lighting continue to be popular, it's the Art Deco and mid-century examples which are proving to be the most desirable and in demand at the moment.

Folk Art

Some dealers are suggesting that they've seen a steady increase in sales of Folk Art.   The theme for this coming year appears to be the mixing and matching of these pieces with modern or mid-century decor.  Competition between dealers for the best pieces is apparently hotting up, with prices expected to rise.

Vinyl Records

Vinyl records continue to find new fans, with some suggesting that classic albums and rare examples of original presses have been selling well.  Albums from the big names remain popular, but records by lesser known artists are also doing well.  Obviously, with this comes demand for old vintage stereos and receivers, which are apparently also selling well in a growing market.

So, there you have it, take from it what you will.  Let me know your predictions in the comments section below.

100 fashion trends and trends in 2023: photos of new products

Knowledge of trends will help reduce the consumption of unnecessary things. To keep the wardrobe relevant, add fashionable clothes to basic clothes. Militta has prepared the most complete selection of fashion trends for 2023 in clothes, shoes, accessories, styling.

Clothing trends 2023

Capes

Capes are a micro trend. Suitable for styling photo shoots to add color and texture to the image. At first glance, a cape is an inconvenient thing, but remember that all superheroes wear capes to look spectacular.

At the shows there are capes that are warm, made of quilted fabric, wool, knitwear. Capes made of flowing fabrics, with a hood, decorated with feathers look spectacular.

ADEAM, Adam Lippes, Alberta Ferretti, Badgley Mischka, Tod's, Tibi .

Trendy midi-length puffy skirts, styled with stretched color to neutralize the volume they create. Total bow always slims.

What color to choose a quilted skirt? Red, mustard or beige.

ADEAM, Anteprima, Baum und Pferdgarten

Trains

We classify clothes with trains as elegant. A train can be not only for an evening dress, but also for a blouse. Sew a skirt that has fabric only at the back, wear it over trousers for a holiday.

ADEAM, Alyx, Carolina Herrera

Black trench coats

Classic black trench coats are on trend. The length, style, texture, cut are different, it is optimal to purchase a black long leather raincoat, an extravagant black patent leather trench coat.

You can complement the look with a raincoat with high boots and panama, a scarf and pink over the knee boots, gloves and a clutch.

ADEAM, Alaïa, Agreeg, Ami, Carolina Herrera, Diesel

Long knitted dress

Fashionable knitted dress can be fitted or loose, combined with sneakers or platform shoes. A wide belt made of soft leather will help to emphasize the waist. On a dress made of white knitwear, the harness does not look defiant.

6397, 16Arlington, Altuzarra, Michael Kors Collection

Wide Leg Pants

90% of brands have added women's wide leg trousers to their collections. This is a macro trend. The images with them are classic, minimalistic. The most fashionable color of wide trousers is black.

Black trousers can be baggy with a black loose sweatshirt. Relevant black wide trousers with a low fit in combination with a turtleneck.

Low rise

Out of fashion low rise 90's, in 2023, low-rise pants are wide, not tight-fitting.

6397, Altuzarra, Ami, Casablanca

Long and short skirts

The trend is a contrast that extends to the length. Mini skirts on shows alternate with maxi lengths. The common thing in the images is the fitting from above. Long skirts are bright and memorable. They reflect the trend for a colorful bottom with a solid top.

Altuzarra, Deveaux, Etro, Erdem

Fur coat

Don't confuse modern coats with vintage ones. Grandma's coat will not look relevant. Short and long coats, gray and colored, fitted and straight silhouette are decorated with fur.

Fur often decorates only the collar, less often it goes with an edge along the entire perimeter of the coat. The fur color matches or contrasts with the coat. Let's say natural fur and artificial.

Altuzarra, Alberta Ferretti, Courrèges, Emporio Armani

Multicolored coats

The trend for fur coats is gaining popularity. More fur coats with hyper volume. In a large bright fur coat, the figure looks fragile in contrast. This trend is very relevant for the cold Russian climate. Faux fur continues to gain popularity, and real valuable fur remains the epitome of luxury, if such a fur coat does not go against your beliefs.

We combine fur coats with wide trousers, tight evening dresses, colored tights and bright shoes.

Faux fur coats do not warm, but decorate, creating a mood.

Alberta Ferretti, Ami, Del Core, Michael Kors Collection, Tom Ford

Pencil skirt

In a classic trend, a pencil skirt is the most classic model. Fashion designers show that fashion can be understood by mixing a leather pencil skirt with a turtleneck, and a plaid wool skirt with a shirt.

Anteprima, Emilia Wickstead, Fabiana Filippi

White tank top

Wear a white tank top with skin-colored seamless underwear. Combine a white T-shirt with jeans, catchy skirts, black trousers. It is not necessary to complement the image with jewelry.

Bottega Veneta, Prada

Doll dresses

Great idea for a prom dress. Suitable shoes are pink lace-up boots or platform sandals, under a velvet toe.

Bora Aksu, Zimmermann

Jumpsuits

Masculine denim and leather overalls are in trend.

Christian Siriano, Isabel Marant, Missoni

Trouser suits

Women's trouser suit jackets have a fitted silhouette, trousers are not only wide, but also tapered. Suits with satin lapels are in trend.

Minimalist suits alternate with brocade suits.

Emphasize the waist with a belt. Trouser suits with vests are relevant.

Duncan, Eudon Choi, Erdem, Eftychia, Gabriela Hearst, Frederick Anderson, Michael Kors Collection

Bombers

Which bombers are in trend? Long with decor, voluminous colored in combination with over the knee boots, black leather.

Isabel Marant, Prada, Ports 1961, Loewe

Puffy jackets

The texture of puffy jackets is not matte, but lacquered. In down jackets, the waist is marked with a cut or emphasized with a belt.

Versace

Denim suits
Not only denim overalls are in trend, but also denim suits.

Turtleneck
Solid color turtlenecks can be paired with bright bottoms on the runway or become part of the classic look with skirts, trousers and suits.

Fine knit cardigans with buttons
Fitted, feminine silhouette is on trend. Delicate knitted cardigans with beautiful metal or pearl buttons emphasize the fragility and femininity of the figure.

Knitted suits with short skirts
How to neutralize the sexyness of a short skirt? Knitted texture combined with flat shoes.

Leggings
Leggings are out of fashion in 2023. Leggings are relevant because they are part of the trend for sport and comfort, but we combine them with feminine shoes with heels, not sneakers.

Shoes: 2023 fashion trends

Over the knee boots

What is the hottest trend in 2023? Boots with heels. So that the over the knee boots do not look defiant, combine them with knitted suits, dresses with flounces in a romantic style, midi length skirts.

Color of boots: black, white, gold, red. There is no strong fit, over the knee boots with a small assembly are relevant.

If you decide to combine over the knee boots with a short dress, then complete the look with an upper layer, for example, a coat.

You can reduce the flashiness of the look with over the knee boots with pastel colors, or you can exaggerate the brightness with printed decorated clothes.

Adam Lippes, Bevza, Balmain, Del Core, David Koma, Giambattista Valli, Isabel Marant, Moschino, Michael Kors Collection

Platform shoes there is a second trend in shoes - platform shoes.

The platform makes it heavier, so the image should include a lightening item that emphasizes the fragility of the figure, for example, a crop top, leggings, a skirt made of flowing fabric.

The most fashionable platform shoes: buckle heels, lace-up boots, clogs.

Colored pumps

Colored stiletto pumps are in trend this season.

Trendy prints 2023

Floral art print

Not the usual floral print is in fashion, but similar to a photograph or a painting. Flowers are not only on dresses, but also on overalls, the gamma is gloomy, the field is black.

Adam Lippes, Carolina Herrera, Erdem

Mix of prints

Mix of prints on trend. It goes beyond the scope of school courses in stylistics, the mix includes prints on hats, tights, and not just on clothes.

Print combines color and style. But proportionality often goes by the wayside. Large flowers in the image can be combined with a small cell.

Anna Sui, Baldessarini, Bora Aksu, Etro, Giambattista Valli, Kenzo

Reptiles
There are fewer leopards than reptiles at the shows.

Ami, Dolce & Gabbana, MM6 Maison Margiela, Michael Kors Collection

Leopard
The leopard moves into the accessories area and changes colors from tan to black and white.

Michael Kors Collection

Styles and cuts in women's fashion 2023

Square neckline
Not only round necklines in unexpected places are on trend, but also the classic square neckline. Usually, a square neckline is accompanied by puff sleeves.

Adam Lippes, Badgley Mischka, Tod's

Hoods
A trend that many designers have is the hood. This is not a thick hood from a sweatshirt, but a thin voluminous one from a blouse.

Look out for outerwear with a hood.

Alaïa, Balmain, Duncan, Dion Lee, Michael Kors Collection

Puff Sleeves

What dress to buy to be fashionable. Dress with voluminous sleeves. The style will not increase if the waist is emphasized, on the contrary, lantern sleeves will help create a harmonious silhouette.

Puffy sleeves reflect the trend not only for the hourglass figure, but also for the inverted triangle silhouette. The volume of the sleeves may not be from above, but from below, such a style can visually expand the hips.

Carolina Herrera, Del Core, Dolce & Gabbana, Emporio Armani, Frederick Anderson

Shoulders + Waist
Rigid jackets that accentuate the waist and shoulders are in trend. Big hips are out of fashion.

Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, FREE AGE

Printed hoodies and T-shirts
Infantile designs on hoodies and T-shirts are on trend.

Dolce & Gabbana

Colours: Trendy Shades 2023

Pink

The color of the season is lavender, but designers are singing an ode to pink. Pink throughout. The teacher's strict sundress, the boyfriend's stretched sweater, the business lady's business suit, all the things in the fashion wardrobe for all occasions turned pink.

Shades of pink from muted berry to vibrant fuchsia. Pink can be a bag or shoes.

Fully hot pink looks deserve special attention.

Adam Lippes, 6397, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Agnona, Ami, Badgley Mischka, Blumarine, Bite Studios, Balmain, Michael Kors Collection

Total Beige

Total look is not only bright, but also basic. Beige and gray are on trend. Shoes can stand out from the beige ensemble.

Beige is a safe color, so any beige purchase you will wear often. But it is best to buy a beige knitted dress or trench coat.

A brave woman can afford a beige leather dress, so as not to look naked, choose a dress that does not match the color of your skin.

3.1 Phillip Lim, 16Arlington, Alberta Ferretti, Agnona, Burberry, Christian Dior, Michael Kors Collection, Max Mara

Gray

Shades of gray in images do not mix. Silver is also grey. Wear a gray turtleneck under your gray shirt.

Shows gray in total look sets. If you have long dreamed of getting a gray suit, now is the time.

A gray balaclava and gray over the knee boots are a must in any fashionista's closet.

Anteprima, Baldessarini, Christian Dior, Diesel, Erdem, Michael Kors Collection, Max Mara

Green

If last season there was a lot of green, then in 2023 green in the image is a controversial bright spot. Contradictory, because it stands out from the general outfit and attracts attention.

If there is a lot of green, then it is no longer contrasting green, but muted.

Apiece Apart, Bottega Veneta, Cecilie Bahnsen, Diesel, Emporio Armani

Red

Red is not combined with green, but only with black, which emphasizes its drama and exaggerates sexuality.

There is a lot of red in the images, but sometimes red on clothes can only be a decoration. Red sleeveless blouses are in trend.

You will immediately attract attention if you buy a red dress or patent leather coat.

Bottega Veneta, Baum und Pferdgarten, Cecilie Bahnsen, David Koma, Courrèges, Duncan, Dolce & Gabbana, Eudon Choi

Azure

The most popular shade of blue is azure. Fashionable dresses are sewn from the fabric of this color.

A blue dress is more practical than a blue suit or coat.

Bora Aksu, Christian Siriano, Emporio Armani, Versace, Emporio Armani

Yellow

If we were talking about summer trends, then yellow would be understandable, but at shows designers show coats, trench coats, yellow jackets.

Yellow is suitable for many women, but for the off-season this color is not practical, unless it is combined with a jacket and khaki trousers.

Carolina Herrera, Christian Dior, Diesel, Dolce & Gabbana, Eudon Choi, Etro, Michael Kors Collection

Black and white classic

Fashion has been moving from sport to classic for the second season. But the classic combination of black and white is not strict office, but playful and feminine. On a white dress, a black belt, a pirate blouse is combined with cigarette trousers, a white shirt with wide leather trousers, and a cropped fitted jacket with a pleated short skirt.

Not enough white in accessories and shoes.

Carolina Herrera, Chloé, Chanel, Ports 1961, Tod's

Neon
Neon annually appears in fashion collections, if in past seasons neon clothes in sports style, then in the fashion season 2023 neon dresses and blouses .

Dundas, Derek Lam 10 Crosby, Erdem, Emilia Wickstead

Burgundy
But burgundy will not be dresses, but trouser suits and coats.

Etro, Emilia Wickstead, Gauchere

Orange
Orange has become an alternative to yellow, especially a lot of orange in men's collections for 2023.

Michael Kors Collection, Max Mara

Unusual color block
There is little contrast in the colors on the shows, in the color blocks stylists use one bright color, combining it with things of muted shades.

If earlier the shoes did not participate in the color block style, now they are participating, because colored over the knee boots are in the trend.

Apiece Apart, Burberry, Christian Cowan, Genny

Texture

Patent leather clothing
Patent leather clothing is not provocative. These are midi skirts, gray raincoats, suits, trousers.

Patent leather clothes look great in the frame, and in real life it will be very hot, but beauty requires sacrifice.

Anteprima, Christian Siriano, Del Core, Courrèges

White leather
There are many leather clothes on the shows. When a trend gets bold, it starts to play and experiment. So leather clothes are not only the usual black, but also white. At the same time, what kind of leather - natural or artificial - in 2023 is not important. All types of leather are in fashion, and you decide what to buy. Faux leather reflects the animal care trend, but genuine leather is still better to wear, much more comfortable and lasts longer.

Ambush, Courrèges, Genny

Mesh
Transparency is not a macro trend, but part of the trend towards sexuality and femininity.

Mesh can be the second layer on a dress, the bottom layer under a jacket or cardigan. Wear mesh trousers over leggings, and a mesh turtleneck under a sundress.

Alyx, Dolce & Gabbana, Genny, MSGM

Tweed
Modern tweed can have large and small checks, not only suits and short sundresses, but also long dresses with thin straps are sewn from it.

Versace

Sequins
Surprisingly, sequins are no longer an evening story. Sequins adorn tracksuits and casual outfits, so you can shine in any situation, without waiting for evening events.

Sequins can be of different sizes in one dress. It is most customary to purchase a sequin top and combine it with a formal suit.

If in past seasons the trend was shiny skirts for every day, today it is trousers.

Altuzarra, Alice+Olivia, Alberta Ferretti, Anteprima, Ami, Commission, Etro, Emporio Armani

Knitted dress
Knitted dress must be with a cover. Fashionable knitted dress is long, fits the figure and emphasizes the chest.

Frederick Anderson, Michael Kors Collection

Velvet
Lots of navy blue velvet on the runways. Velvet is found not only in women's, but also in men's collections.

Mix of textures
We often forget about the texture of clothes, but in vain. The combination of different textures makes the image complex, for example, leather and fur, satin and velvet, suede and silk.

Eftychia, Giorgio Armani

Fashion accessories and decor in 2023

Long scarves
Long scarves do not wrap around the neck, leave them hanging vertically.

Agnona, Anteprima, Eudon Choi, FREE AGE

Long gloves
Remember that ladies used to wear gloves not only to keep warm, but gloves were part of the outfit. Therefore, we boldly combine gloves with sweatshirts, suits, and not just with evening dresses. You can wear rings and bracelets on the glove.

Emilia Wickstead, Ferrari, Fendi

Berets
There are more berets in men's collections. Fashionable women's berets now look more brutal, and not French cute.

Gucci, Kenzo

Fishnet and colored tights
White fishnet tights are not suitable for full girls, but they look stylish on slender legs. Openwork is a texture that increases volume.

Not only colored tights are in trend, but also tights with pictures. Try to play designer, find tights with an unusual print and match them with a dress or skirt that repeats the pattern of the tights.

Zimmermann

Rhinestones
Rhinestones do not appear on jeans, t-shirts and sweaters, they simply decorate fashionable dresses.

David Koma, Dundas, Genny

Laces
Shoes are more commonly laced than clothing.

Dundas, Dolce & Gabbana, Dion Lee

Feathers and fringes
Feathers and fringes transition from 2022 to 2023, fringes become wide, heavy.

Hats and neckerchiefs
Cowboy and pirate styles are in trend, so hats and neckerchiefs are also in trend.

Short necklaces made of large beads
There are almost no chains at the shows, but pearls are found, but they are not of a standard size, but large.

Fur bags
Stylists suggest wearing fur bags in summer. The most practical handbags, in which the handles and clasps are made of leather, and everything else is made of fur.

Clips for bangs
Bangs are not straight, but wavy. In order not to get tired of the bangs, they offer to stab her, as in school.

Epaulettes and cargo trousers
Military is always in trend, and especially now. In the new 2023 season, the style is presented on the shows with short pea jackets, cargo trousers and epaulettes on blouses and coats.

Brooches
Do not buy one brooch, get several, and if one, then a very large one in the shape of a flower.

Stylization

Total black
Fashionable black is not sexy, it is strict, discreet and covers the whole body.

ADEAM, 6397, Alaïa, Burberry, Christian Dior, Erdem, Michael Kors Collection, Max Mara

Dress with cardigan
The most understandable and cozy combination. Add a dress with a cardigan with jewelry, bright shoes, bows, this will lead the stylization into infantilism. It's better than looking like an old lady in a dress with a cardigan.

Bora Aksu, Blumarine, Chanel

Total look
One of the macrotrends of the season. The most popular colors from which monochromatic images are collected are black, beige, blue, pink.

There must be something unusual in a fashionable look. For example, over the knee boots, bright socks, an unusual cut or length.

The color of the top and bottom can be exactly the same, but differences are also allowed.

Beatrice B, Baum und Pferdgarten, Etro, Genny, Gabriela Hearst, Fendi, Michael Kors Collection, Max Mara

Dress + trousers confident and experienced fashionistas create such images for the sake of experiment. This season, stylists have made another attempt.

3.1 Phillip Lim, Deveaux

Skirt over dress
If you have an A-line skirt with buttons in your wardrobe, fasten it with the top button and put it on a short dress.

Long sleeves
Today, you don't have to roll up and roll up your sleeves to show off your thin wrists. In 2023, the longer the sleeve, the better.

Short haircuts
One cannot fail to mention short haircuts along with the bright trends of the season.

They don't try to make men out of women, the game is based on contrast and freedom.

6397, Alaïa, Baldessarini, Bite Studios, Emporio Armani, Eftychia

One piece often combines several fashion trends. For example, a red dress can be made of patent leather, be short, with puffed sleeves and a square neckline. Such things will help in creating the most harmonious, and at the same time fashionable images.

2000s style tie-dye

The 2000s are back and it's a great opportunity to take old things out of the closet and give them new life. Designers remembered the once popular thin sweaters with drawstrings and add them to the collection again. Jaded combine an up-to-date style with another trend - patchwork and dilute it with multi-layered decoration. Do not be afraid to choose things in bright colors - this is just what you need.

The chest-length cardigan blew up fashion catwalks 20 years ago and is here again thanks to Khaite and Bottega Veneta. An elegant combination of a short sweater that opens the neckline is a favorite of Kendal Jenner, combining a bolero with dress pants.
